We had a birthday celebration here. We had a large party ( about 20) and were seated in a further area of the very large restaurant. It's a beautiful space with good lighting and modern decor. For a Sunday evening, it was a full house. The menu for our evening was specially curated with several selections in appetizers and entrees with a couple salads mixed in to make it seem that we didn't overindulge. We had two of our own cakes. The food was delicious!! I honestly forgot to take pictures of everything but we started with an assortment of appetizers then we had the Ceaser and a house salad with walnuts. We then had the pan roasted chicken, Atlantic salmon and a veggie pasta. I'd have them all again. Our main server was Austin and he was so helpful and efficient taking care of our group. I connected with a colleague at sixty vines for a post work happy hour. Our time there was phenomenal and extended far beyond happy hour; everything was so great didn't want to leave. We decided to sit at the bar, and seating there wasn't crowded or shallow. We were able to easily place and access multiple dishes along with a full carafe of wine. Our server made excellent recommendations and allowed us to try a couple different wines before settling on a particular one for our order. The wine paired with our menu bites were so good. I had the pleasure of dining at Sixty Vines over the weekend with a group of girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. Known for its wide selection of shareable bites and an impressive 60 wines on tap, the restaurant has a lively yet approachable atmosphere perfect for group outings. Although I didn't sample any wines this time around, I did enjoy two of their frozen cocktails: the Frozé and the Frozen Aperol Spritz. The Frozé--made with Diseño Rosé, Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz, and strawberries--was hands down the standout. It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and honestly, I only wish the portion was bigger (it's about a 5oz serving). The Frozen Aperol Spritz, made with Aperol, Sesenta Cava, orange juice, and club soda, had a pleasantly bitter, citrusy bite--perfect if you enjoy flavors similar to grapefruit. For appetizers, I started with the Pan Roasted Mussels, which came with shallots, white wine, herbs, butter, fennel, and grilled ciabatta. The mussels were delicious, but the real star was the white wine sauce--absolutely divine. Dipping the grilled ciabatta into that sauce was a total "chef's kiss" moment. I also tried the Harissa Shrimp, which was flavorful and came with cracked olives, braised fennel, garlic, and parsley. As for the Truffled Vineyard Fries, they weren't my favorite--I found them a bit underwhelming compared to the other dishes. The overall vibe felt family-friendly, but I do wish the music had a bit more variety to match the high energy of a Saturday night crowd. One thing I love is that you can customize your own wine flight by choosing any four wines on tap, which is a unique touch I plan to try on my next visit. All in all, I'd give Sixty Vines a 9 out of 10. I'd absolutely return--or check out one of their other locations--to explore more of what they have to offer. read more

We were unexpectedly left with a cancelled reservation elsewhere on a Friday evening and had to scramble to find a spot for 5 - Sixty Vines was nearby and was able to fit us in at the bar. The hostess and our bartender/server were accommodating and very friendly The vibes were California modern, it was a lively scene! The wine on tap is an excellent concept. They have a huge variety and I love that you can get different volumes of wine or taste different ones and make your own little flight. The AB Valley Alvarinho I got was cold and crisp, the perfect start to my evening. The food itself left me hanging a bit, though. I got the fried chicken + caviar - they were boneless chicken breast tenders, which are unfortunately inherently dry. The breading also didn't stick to the chicken and kept falling off with each bite. I also tried my friend's pizza, the broccolini and potato, which had very strong raw garlic taste to it. From ambiance standpoint, the restaurant is perfect for a number of occasions - groups, date night or solo dates. The restaurant is quite vast and they have a private room in the back. In terms of food, everything we had was delicious! For appetizers, I highlight recommend the fried chicken w/ caviar and the brussel sprouts. I had the chicken & pesto cream pasta with gluten free noodles and it was so flavorful. I could barely tell the noodles weee gluten free. Others in our group had the shrimp & bacon pizza, the burger, and the shrimp pasta. Once the manager found out it was my birthday, he offered me dessert on the house which was very nice of him. However, we shared an order of the fried zucchini, which was unfortunately inedible. Parking can be tough, but it's free in the evening and we found a spot right behind the restaurant We walked in and we greeted and joined our party who was there celebrating a birthday. I should preface that this review by saying that the food was absolutely phenomenal and if I had to judge the restaurant based on just the food, it would be 5 stars. Everything that we ate was so good - reasonably priced and decent sized portions. However, from the get go, the experience was marred by the wait despite having a reservation. We showed up on time for our 5pm reservation and still had to wait about 15 minutes. Their excuse was that they didn't know which staff were ready for service, so it would take a bit longer to get us seated. What do you mean you don't know which staff were ready for service? You opened at 3pm though? Anyways, after we were seated, our waitress came by to take our drink orders. We were not served any water until about 20 minutes into our time there and only after I had asked when she came back to get our food orders. When our appetizers came, we didn't even have any cutlery. Drinks took a long time to come, and when we ordered a second round when they dropped off our entrees, they never came. By the time we had ordered dessert, they still had not come, so we just decided to call it at that point. We only ever saw our waitress 3x the entire meal - when she came to take our drink orders, when she came to take our meal orders, and when she came to take our dessert order. The service was honestly non-existent. Thankfully, we didn't need much and someone did bring some water refills once we out the empty water bottle on the edge of the table. Anyways, now onto the food. The food was really good. To start, we split the bacon wrapped dates and the grilled golden beets. Loved them both. I highly recommend the grilled golden beets if you're into beets. For my main, I had the pesto chicken pasta, which was a really large portion and really good. I highly recommend this dish. X had the Wood Grilled Bavette Steak, which was very well cooked and came with a large portion of smashed potatoes. Very delicious all around. For dessert, we split the Sticky Toffee Cake, which was warm, gooey, and just the right amount of sweet. read more

We came here after a show at the Kennedy center. It's about 15 minutes from there walking and 5 minutes by car. The place is pretty big inside and it's right around the circle of Pennsylvania Ave NW/Foggy Bottom. They have a pretty extensive wine selection and though we are no really drinkers 2/4 ordered a glass of wine. We opted to go for the pizza (margarita and spicy sausage) and a spring salad. It was so good we under estimated the food honestly. The only thing we did not like was the fingerling potatoes, they were pretty bland with no sauce. We had an excellent time in this newly open spot in Foggy Bottom. The restaurant is HUGE and was about 70% full from what I could tell. Service was excellent. Having only been open for a week, I was surprised at how smooth everything ran. The wine list is ginormous which kind of makes it a bit tough to order but whatever - first world problems. Everything we ate was delicious! The fried chicken w caviar was such a pleasant surprise! Can't say I tasted much of the caviar but the chicken was delicious! As was the buratta. The corn that came w the shrimp app was excellent. Could have eaten that all day. My hanger steak was perfectly cooked and I even enjoyed the mushrooms, which are normally a no for me. For desert we got the sticky toffee cake which I didn't anticipate enjoying but it was actually delicious. Big thanks to the manager who also treated us to a round of champagne. I discovered Sixty Vines while searching for a place to celebrate my birthday and decided to try it because of its diverse menu and beautiful, spacious interior. The staff was very accommodating when I requested a table for 10. We were seated promptly after checking in and given information about the wine and food menus. I brought a cake, and they happily stored it in the kitchen for me. Our server was friendly, but we only saw her a few times during our meal. Unfortunately, some items we ordered never arrived, but we decided to overlook it. The food was mediocre; nothing stood out. The hummus was my favorite, with plenty to share, and the fig and prosciutto pizza was also good. However, my friend's beet and herbed goat cheese salad was unappetizing, and adding salmon brought the price to around $35, which was outrageous for a salad that couldn't be finished. The icing on the cake was when our server offered to box up our cake leftovers, which included some of our food. After waiting 20 minutes, she was nowhere to be found, and our food was missing, though we did get the cake back, albeit carelessly thrown into a bag. Although I made sure the service didn't ruin my night, I don't think I would return to Sixty Vines, especially with a larger group. read more

I've been to the Sixty Vines in Charlotte and was so excited to try their new location in Foggy Bottom. Had a wonderful experience! While I'm usually weary of chains Sixty Vines is an unexpected delight. Came around 5pm on a Sunday. Pretty empty but started to fill up around 7pm. The space is huge so it would be fairly easy walking in without a reservation. They have an expansive wine list for all your wine lovers but also have a well curated cocktail menu. They had a few seasonal items the night I went and I tried their winter margarita made with cider and warming spices -- fabulous! I also tried the beehive which was well balanced and tasty. For starters we did the bacon wrapped dates, burrata, and brussels. All super delicious especially the dates and the burrata. The burrata is pretty big, great size for a group of 4. For dinner we each tried a different pasta and we also tried a pizza. Every dish was fabulous and super tasty. For dessert we tried the sticky toffee cake and olive oil cake. Both great! The sticky toffee is super sweet so a few bites is plenty. The olive oil cake isn't too sweet and would be great with a coffee. Both desserts would be GREAT with ice cream. The space the restaurant is in is beautiful and shockingly large. This is the perfect place for a corporate event or large party. They also have a very long bar making it ideal for happy hour. The service was outstanding!! Our server was really funny and made great recommendations. The bartender was really kind and wanted to make sure we all enjoyed our drinks. The hosts at the front were very welcoming and didn't mind taking photos of our group. It's a cute meeting spot. The ambiance is great, although it's a bit loud. The grilled shrimp and corn appetizer is delicious. However, it shouldn't be under Shared Plates, as the portion is small. The meatballs and broccoli are also delicious. The charcuterie board is pretty underwhelming, esp for the price. I got 3 items (salami, ricotta, and blue cheese). It came with pita, marcona almonds and honey. Cute, but definitely not worth $18. The pasta dishes are generous, but both the shrimp pasta and the chicken pesto pasta were lacking in flavor. Both were actually pretty bland. On the other hand, the baked chicken with chickpeas was surprisingly flavorful. Service is spotty. When you can find your server, it's great. They are warm and know the menu quite well, so they are helpful when it comes to recommendations. But both times I've gone, the servers would disappear for long periods of time and we had to ask other servers for help. Drinks also take a while to come. A friend and I had a great lunch here prior to visiting GWU's Textile Museum. We ate at the bar near the pizza oven because they were short of servers, so lots of tables that were open were not being seated right away. Lovely open environment, friendly staff, and delicious food. The lunch pizza/salad special (my friend's order) and beet/goat cheese salad (my order) were fresh, tasty and just right for lunch. I added red chili flakes and Parmesan as well. For wine, I had the loveblock Sauvignon Blanc (half glass) and the Belle Glos Pinot noir (full glass). They were both delicious as well. I did sample a few of the options based on what I generally drink and then made a final decision on what I actually wanted to drink. I typically don't do dessert, but the cheesecake option sounded too good to pass up, and I'm glad I didn't. I paired it with GOLDSCHMIDT, a dessert wine. It was such a wonderful night to relax and sit at the bar, especially with Janderson providing phenomenal service. He was so helpful with recommendations and answering my questions. Second location I've visited and the vibes are immaculate but the service is so, so slow. I made a reservation but wasn't able to sit until half my party was there (understandable but annoying due to the slow service). Place is very dark but good acoustics. We started with wine flights and our waiter was more the vibe of we choose but he wasn't able to curate a whole flight (but did give a good individual recommendation or two). Our wine flights took 20-25 minutes to get to our table and only 4/5 showed up and our last friend waited another 8 minutes for hers. I'd say this spot would be horrible as a first date spot- you wait forever for a drink. The food really shines- we did app style. We got the fig and prosciutto pizza and the spicy sausage one- both had good ratio topping and a nice flavor. We also got the burrata, the golden beets, and the zucchini chips- all fantastic, fresh and light tasting. The zucchini chips are the app with the longest wait. We also split the burger and the parpadella- both were great but the burger was the star of the show. It was very juicy and a huge portion- worth the money. Overall a nice time if service would pick up the speed.
