This is my second time eating here , and my last. I saw the guy making pizzas had long hair in his face and no gloves on. That should've been my cue. The pizza is never cooked fully, I always have to put it in the oven after I wait 15 min for them to do it. So good! Flavorful, bountiful and imo the perfect chewy crust. Everything we had was delicious. I love a good pizza. The staff was extremely friendly which is greatly appreciated and our slices + salad came out in the perfect amount of time. And did I mention the fountain soda is Jones Soda?! If you want to get your veggies in or you are a fan of salad, add one to your order. You won't regret it, both are delicious. I was even wondering if I could buy both of their dressings in bulk. I have written several reviews on the E Burnside branch, but it was my first time at the W Burnside branch. It looked more crowded than the E Burnside, but I chose to sit outside, and it was lovely with the mild sunshine of the afternoon. I got a cut of Vegan Angel of Doom and a cut of Ru Paul's Drag Race. To tell you the truth, I was not hungry, but I got them anyway in the hope of lifting my mood. And it worked! So next time you feel down, try this. Get a cup of soda and sip it on the sidewalk like a glass of cocktail. Elongate your meal as much as you can so you can observe all kinds of people, animals, and vehicles passing by. Take each bite of your pizza with the respectful amount of chewing and savoring it deserves. Get a refill of your soda and do the mocktail session again. If you are up for it, try Vegan Angel of Doom. It will add a plenty of spicy kick to your solitary dining experience. Oh, the pizza review. Vegan Angel of Doom is one of my favorites because it has spicy jalapeño and sweet pineapple. Ru Paul's Drag Race was good. The dominant taste was sweet bbq sauce. read more

Really good pizza for pretty cheap. They give you HUGE slices, or you can get half of a slice (cut) for cheaper. They toast it before serving it so the crust is hot and crunchy (thin crust) and you get your own cheese pull for the night. It's one of those places you go to after a night of drinking and it really hits the spot. They have various pizzas, as well as vegetarian options to cater a wider group of people. I frequented this place a few years back when the cuts were cheaper so it's not the same now that their prices have increased. Overall, pretty good pizza joint. Across the street from Powell's so you can grab a bite while browsing all the awesome books! Convenient location by a lot of the bars too. Awesome Pizza place in Portland Oregon I was hungry and looking for food I ordered two slices of Pepperoni pizza and a bottle of coke the pizza crust was crispy but not too crispy and the cheese and sauce combined with the pepperoni was delicious. The staff were really cool. I definitely like the vibe in Portland compared to being here in Seattle sometimes. Big slices, okay prices. Happy hour was from 4_7 , dollar off beer n cider. Cider is Gluten free and all natural. Yum. I had just a regular cheese slice. They are thin and crispy. But not a whole lot of flavor. Very friendly staff, upbeat and seem to enjoy their jobs. Good amount of seats. Not great for a huge group tho, as you may occupy the entire place. Being the pizza connoisseur that I am, I'm a little harsher on pizza joint compared to any other type of restaurant. I had two slices on my visit here, welcome to Flavortown (today's special) and It's always sunny in Portland. I was excited about Flavor town with hard salami, jalapeños, garlic, some other stuff and on white sauce. First of all, the dough was too thin even for NY style pizza. I learned that I prefer salami with red sauce and I don't care for multiple half garlic cloves on my pizza. *Thumbs Down*. The second slice made up for my visit. The dough was just right and the red sauce tasted good. I'd give this location another shot. The staff was courteous and it was a clean space to eat. I'm from Alaska. I've never had a better pie than what they cook up at Mooses Tooth in Anchorage and Evangelos in Wasilla. But in Portland, the men are handsome, the women are cool, and the PIZZA HERE IS GLORIOUS. This is one of the nicest pies I've ever ever had. Such a fun, punk atmosphere and just seconds away from Powells, the greatest bookstore known to mankind. Jones soda on tap like a BOSS (something you just dont get in Alaska). Great options, though I just got the basic pep, Ace of Spades. It took a realllllllllly long time to get it though. Most folks where in line just for a slice so when you ask for an entire pie, you're gonna be there a while. It took about thirty plus minutes. I got a little worried I might have missed my order....that's the only reason I give it four stars instead of five. On the other hand, the food is worth the wait. Tried half a slice of Queen and half a slice of Police and Thieves. I vastly preferred Queen, mainly because I love garlic and the garlic was incredibly present on the pizza. Overall reasonable prices for the size of the slice you'd get. Once slice was enough to carry me for a couple of hours (but I guess I also wasn't that hungry to begin with haha). For the first time had an unpleasant experience due to the young lady taking my order,I understood it was busy but she was quite snappy and a bit condescending. I ordered my food and went next door to Quailty Bar, glad I did, Rachel the bartender made our experience amazing. This was the second time she's helped me, she impressed my friend and myself with her delicious drinks and great attitude. It definitely made us feel better from the experience we had earlier. Quite literally, the worst online ordering and phone ordering system I have ever seen. They tell you, when you call, they don't deliver from the main store location, yet when you order from any 3rd party app, the store you just called about delivery is now making your order to be delivered. They also tell you to write notes if anything needs to be changed on the 3rd party app, of which when you click the special instructions tab, says no special instructions can be added because they've asked to not receive them. Then when you finally order and give the call back of which they have told you to do to verify the special instructions that couldn't be given to them through the 3rd party apps, somehow you become the one that doesn't understand. This place is a Joke. When you go to get a slice, you can't even add toppings. Go ahead tell me how most places don't do that. You will not win this one. You sit in the cold outside because these people can't clean the inside up enough for you to be able to sit inside. If you want good Vegan pizza, Go to Rudy's Pizza. read more

Honestly, there is just something SO satisfying about a giant slice of pizza. I don't know what makes buying pizza by the slice so much more delicious than simply ordering a whole pie from the nearest garbage chain pizza place, but it just feels better, you know? It feeds the soul to get to look into a glass case, read all the descriptions, and pick your poison (or pizza, as it were). Which is one of the [many] reasons I think Sizzle Pie is such an enduring Portland staple. Every time I'm in town I make sure to plan one meal where I can pop in for a fragrant slice of The Gold Ring (what beautiful use of goat cheese and truffle oil) and whatever the slice of the day is. Because it's fun, it's fast, it's [relatively] inexpensive, and I know that it's going to make me feel good. I love their proximity to Powell's too, because then I get to kill two birds with one stone and visit both on the same day. read more

When you arrive at your downtown hotel after 10pm and you're starving, where else are you gonna eat? This side of the river doesn't have any of the Vegan bars you'll find on the other side. I was a little hesitant walking up to this place after traversing all the bums in the alleyways to get here. I actually didn't realize this was also a bar, in fact more bar than pizzeria. It's super dark and smells like a bar. One we sat down though, the service was excellent. It didn't matter if we were only ordering a beer or two. The couple of Vegan slices and garlic knots were brought out promptly. In fact their customer service was better than many restaurants I've been too. They have a decent selection of craft brews on tap. I went with a Boneyard IPA and something from Wayfinder. Beyond their excellent customer service, they also score points for their gigantic Vegan slices at decent prices. Oh and don't sleep on those garlic knots. We ordered extra and had a delicious snack in our hotel several days later. All their dipping sauces are Vegan too. What else you expect in Portland? read more

Came here on New Years Day. I must say right off the bat that it is probably one of the least favorable places for pizza that I've experienced so far. I haven't been to any of their other locations, but since this is my first time at one of their chain restaurants, I may come back and update my review. However, based on my experience at the W. Burnside location, it kind of left me with a lot to be desired. So in this case, it was mediocre at best. Maybe it was because it was busy due to the New Years Day holiday, but I imagine that it's busy everyday regardless of the holiday, being that it's right across from Powell's bookstore in the heart of downtown. The line was fairly long, but not out the door and the service was slow. From the time we got in line, to the time our pizza was served, took about an hour more or less. Seating is limited so be prepared to be aggressive when trying to grab seats as soon as a party is done with their food or be willing to sit outside, which of course right now is unthinkable unless you want to freeze or be soaking wet from the rain. The service was fine and staff was helpful. The pizza itself was okay, just seemed a bit lacking. Something was off, like it didn't come out as hot, more like it was just warmed up. The cheese wasn't even melted fully so right then and there, we were disappointed. We ordered two pizzas--The Ol' Dirty and Volume 11 (one meat, one veggie). Out of these two, we all liked the veggie pizza. Again, I'm hoping that our next visit will be better because I really want to try their other innovative pizza combinations at maybe another location. read more

When I want a "good" NY style pizza, Sizzle pie is my go to. The total cost through door dash is a little outrageous, but when you need pizza, you need pizza! I went for the "Napalm Breath" last time, featuring Garlic, pepperoni, and jalapeños. They emphasized more heavy Garlic than I received in the description, and it was poorly scattered. That is my only real complaint as it was a large delicious pie. Decent pies here, but nothing really special. It's located right next to Powell's so in terms of location is pretty close to everything downtown Portland has to offer. There's something really special I like to do when I'm in Portland, and that's getting pizza to go and eating it while paroozing powells for hours on end on a Sunday. It's not something I'm proud of, but god damn it's so much fun. Pizza + books, the best combo ever! The pizza was tasty. We tried the Peppa Messiah. We opted for ordering a fresh whole pie because there were several flies in the case with the pizza for sale by the slice. Took ~45minutes for the pizza to be ready. The music choice was definitely not for everyone - heavy metal screaming. I'm so glad Powell's is across the street because we killed time in the bookstore while waiting for our pizza. It was pretty yummy but I wish there was more red sauce. Ace (pepperoni) pretty normal Cut Over the Edge (mozzarella, ricotta, tomato, basil, and balsamic vinaigrette) best slice we got. This place is great! The pizza is delicious and the whole place is very instagrammable (come on, we were all thinking it). Our cashier was super sweet and helped us make some selections. The pizza was so good we had to go back for another slice! Unfortunately the second cashier was rude but the pizza makes up for it. Any place that can serve me amazing food at 3am as I stumble out of the bars has 5 stars from me! There was a little bit of a wait in line, but the pizza was worth every second of it. The cashier was very friendly and the pizza came out quickly. I had a slice with truffle oil on it, and it was seriously to die for! They have some rad shirts that we purchased a few of as well.
