I remember when Toby and I were in Hawaii, she insisted I try some local fried rice. I ended up getting somewhat sick because whatever they put into it just didn't agree with my stomach. And it's not like I could've asked to take the offensive ingredients out because most places don't post exactly what goes into their version of the dish and if I asked to hold the sketchy stuff, it would end up being closer to steam rice anyway. But some places like Scrambler's Cafe just know how to make it right. They load it up with meat only put the bare minimum of veggie mix, and portion it out like there's a hungry man ordering it. Every bite is tremendously flavorful and filling. I love their fried rice and it's quickly become a go-to dish at Scrambler's--first at the Corona location and now at the new location. The service is great too. Everyone was nice and the refills came fast without prompting. Every restaurant should have service this competent. Also, the ambiance was great. The tables were spaced out and the noise was very respectful. It's just a chill place all around, fit for large parties and solo diners. It's a good eating place for anyone. I love the options for the Loco Moco, hamburger, Spam, chicken katsu, or Portuguese sausage. They had a shredded beef short rib option the day we went. I ordered it and it was fantastic!! Definitely will be back to try the other combinations. I had to try the macaroni salad and it didn't disappoint. The island Chilaquiles has kalua pork and it was also delicious ! Ordering is a bit different. You order at the counter and they assign you a table number and then you go sit at your assigned table and eat. It was packed! Line out the door and a line for the whole duration of our meal. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. And they can accommodate large groups too. The staff is very friendly and they have staff walking around refilling (regular) coffee, if you order it, but the special drinks are one time. Again they are only open for breakfast and lunch. I think this will be our go to Loco Moco spot for a while. They have other breakfast options too, but I really enjoy a good Loco Moco. The servers were extremely intentive and always asking us if we needed more coffee or extra water for it to be so packed and the fact that they were so welcoming and attentive, says a lot about the restaurant. We sat outside and ate on the back patio, which was perfect to enjoy the sunshine. There were tons of beautiful plants and butterflies all around while we were enjoying our food. They also make sure to include fans at each table, so that flies won't get to your food. Our breakfast itself was amazing. Every time my Diet Coke was getting low, she was right there with a refill before I even had to ask. We started with the Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower appetizer, which was amazing. Between the three of us, we shared the smoked brisket with mashed potatoes and broccoli, the Wood Ranch tri-tip, and the ribeye. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I wish I had taken a picture, but as soon as the food hit the table, we couldn't wait to dig in. It looked incredible and definitely did not disappoint. We'll absolutely be coming back.
