We were seated quickly. The service was 5 stars; outstanding. Our server was prompt, professional, and very kind. We chose steak and unlimited shrimp. When they say unlimited shrimp, they mean unlimited shrimp! Our serve was super quick to replenish our plates with shrimp. The food was decent. It was decent for a chain restaurant. My steak was the correct temp. I have no complaints. If you opt for a meal out and want consistent food and service, I definitely eat here. read more

I'm a long time fan of Sizzler but hadn't been to one in Utah before. The Sandy restaurant has apparently been here for decades. I was excited to eat here. Throughout our entire dinner, the restaurant was very smoky, like barbeque smoke. The salad bar area is small and didn't feel very clean. There were stacks of chilled plates for salad, but no unchilled plates for the hot taco bar options. I asked a server about it but she only spoke Spanish and we couldn't communicate. The salad bar options that are present at other Sizzler locations, such as mac and cheese, shrimp, and avocado, were not offered. We ordered beef and chicken "salad toppers," which are skewers of meat. They took a very long time to come out, so we were pretty much done with our salads by then. The beef was fine, but the chicken chunks were cut very small and therefore overcooked. The restaurant was packed, mostly with older people and a lot of young, undisciplined children. We had not been into a sizzler since mid March 2020. I believe they have had their salad bar open for a month or two now, maybe longer?? but after checking the internet (goggle, youtube, sizzler.com etc) and finding virtually zero info about how things are handled since covid has went down. We have went with other restaurants where precautions were more readily available. The low down: we came in around 2ish Sunday afternoon. Entrance, pre-order is the same, there is a plexiglass to shield the employee taking the order, you still wait to be seated, and they are seating at 50% capacity. If your meal is or includes the salad bar the floor is labeled for distancing, sanitizer is required to obtain a plate, bowl, soup cup, spoons, ice cream dish each time you enter the salad bar line. You are required to wear a mask anytime you are not seated at your table. Staff are wearing masks, sanitizing often and some wait staff have gloves, but all were taking necessary precautions. All sanitation staff are wearing masks and gloves. There was a gentleman immediately busing tables and chairs throughout our entire visit, everything was clean and sanitary. The food: the food didn't taste any different than previous visits, dessert options are limited by about half, salad bar items also were also a bit limited, they ran out of egg and no chicken wings, but had chicken strips (also no avocado), however everything we had was fresh and had the familiar flavors, times are tough, and covid has not been kind to sizzler, prices have not been raised and they had their option of a 6oz steak, malibu chicken or large breaded shrimp a choice of side along with unlimited salad bar and cheese toast for $9.99. Pretty good deal if you ask me! Disclosure: I didn't feel like I was risking my life while dining, I felt the staff were as nice as I had always experienced, maybe even a little more, they seemed to genuinely be happy that business is picking back up and happy to serve and provide a safe And positive experience. That being said, while I felt the staff and manager went above and beyond to ensure a safe environment, your dining experience will ultimately depend on your fellow patrons dining along side you, gloves are provided, but aside from our table, nobody felt the least inclined to use them. Items like the brownies and waffle cones, taco shells, taco salad bowls were often picked up with hands, when there were adequate tongs to utilize. This doesn't fall on staff responsibility in my eyes, as we are not children and should not require a babysitter to safely fine along aside others. read more

The service could t be any better but the food could use a lot of attention. Sizzler has fried chicken sandwiches on their menu this month and I thought I would try the Buffalo chicken sandwich. When the server brought it to the table we noticed it was the wrong sandwich and she quickly took it back. The second time was the correct order and after the first bite I saw that the chicken wasn't cooked all the way. Let me restate that, it was hardly cooked, it even opaque. Lesson one, don't order a chicken sandwich at a steak place. Lesson two, you f you do order a chicken sandwich, cut the sandwich in half before shoving it in your mouth. Our server apologized and we settled on a bacon burger. The burger was huge with two beef Pattie's that had good flavor and moist. One of the better burgers I have had. The bacon however might be fine in Germany but I prefer my bacon cooked all the way, even crispy. Whoever did the cooking today should seriously reconsider what they are doing in the kitchen. Not everyone is meant to cook. I love to cook but think working a restaurant would be pretty stressful. One thing I wouldn't do is compromise the safety of my customers. read more

Extremely disappointed. Stopped here to have dinner for our wedding anniversary after a wonderful experience at the Flagstaff location a few years ago. I ordered the steak and shrimp and my husband ordered the steak and lobster. He said the lobster was so salty, it was like eating a salt lick. The steaks were overcooked, tough, and bland. We both ordered medium -- mine was bordering well done. My husband's was crispy on the outside and closer to medium on the inside. Overall, we left our food not even half eaten. This location in Sandy was a mixed bag. The good: excellent service, clean, fresh food. The bad: ordered a ribeye steak and I think it was a sirloin or a New York steak. Over cooked and lacking flavor. All other food was good. Ice cream and brownies were good. Need some improvement on the steaks, especially when this is a steakhouse. Pricey for what we got. We came here late night driving in from another state since most places were closed in the area. I remember Sizzler was very popular when I was a kid, so I suggested this place. Plus, it was a Friday during Lent so I knew I'd be ok finding seafood to eat and my boyfriend and son could eat steak. We were greeted immediately when we walked to the line. Our order was taken precisely and we were seated quickly. It took about 20-25 mins for our food to arrive at our table. First thing I can remember that was negative was the temperature in there. It was very warm. Anyway, we quickly got over that when we got our food! Lol We ordered the steak & lobster x2 (I took 1 lobster from 1 of these combos and my boyfriend ate the rest) and the Signature Sizzler for our son. He loved the steak and said the steak fries were alright - kind of stale. My lobster was juicy and succulent - not rubbery like most places tend to overcook it. My boyfriend said his steaks were seasoned just right and tasted very very good! Especially being it was his first time eating at any Sizzler period. I personally enjoyed the cheesy bread - that's what they used to serve back in the day at the Sizzler in Hawaii (late 80's/early 90's) - it tasted exactly how I remembered :) Our server was attentive, always refilled our drinks when it got low, checked on us occasionally to see if we needed anything else and also brought us another set of silverware because the first batch still had food on it (not her fault though). So, all in all this was not a bad experience at all. They were open late, food was good and server +++ was very attentive. I was excited to find out that this sizzler location is still open. Really sad to see the hollow building in sugarhouse that was once a really good sizzler. Why did you close? Well this sizzler is in sandy off the freeway on 9000 th south. We haven't been to a sizzler in years and let me tell you as all things prices have gone up! Once you could get a steak and salad bar for $9.99 now it's $19.99. still worth it. Salad bar was fresh but no chicken. The taco meat tasted funny too. The tomato soup was delicious especially with cheese added from the salad bar. Bread was stale even the second round when our server brought supposedly fresh ones out. Tasted from the same batch. I mean if your going to raise prices these little things that sizzler is known for should be on it. Servers are hit and miss but today he was good but aloof. My son ate the steak and it was overcooked with horrible french fries. My son didn't even touch those but he ate the steak. Pretty good portion for lunch. Sizzler still caters to elderly people so the senior discount is huge. My mom loved that! Senior salad bar was only $12.99. great deal if you ask me! Sizzler has been around for a number of years and they can always be counted on for pretty good food at a reasonable price (on the mainland at least - in Hawaii, where I live, EVERYTHING'S expensive). My son and I had dinner here on the night that I arrived in Salt Lake City. And since it was very close to the hotel where I was staying, it was a no brainer. I had the 8 ounce sirloin with salad bar. The meat was cooked well and to my liking. The salad bar offered everything that you could want: greens, soup, fruit, potato salad, mac salad and, of course, a limited variety of desserts including soft serve ice cream. All of this for less than $17. Service was to be expected (relatively pleasant and attentive), but since it's a buffet, I really don't expect much. Good eats at a decent price. Someone once said to me Sizzler is a life changing experience. I can definitively say my life has been changed. To approach or judge Sizzler as a quality steakhouse is incorrect. Sizzler is a cultural icon, a representation of the abundance of the American dream and a relic of the 90s. Visiting Utah from the Northeast, happening upon a Sizzler was like a blast of nostalgic. The commercials I grew up watching did not do it justice. The fabled salad bar delivered with a selection of salad toppings/dressing and special salads. It also surprised with a taco bar, pasta station, chicken wings and fingers. Our streak was cooked the way we specified. The counters, tables and floors were clean and well maintained. We got the weekend special which was shrimp, steak, potato, chicken mal & salad bar!! We all shared those things & got dessert at the end too! The salad was fresh & cold, all the toppings & fixings were filled which I really appreciated. Our waitress was amazing! So friendly & on the ball. Kept our drinks full & was there when we needed her. Tip: they give you the option for cash back. You should probably say 'yes' because there is no tip option on the card receipt! We owed my mom a dinner and she wanted to go to Sizzler. Had we known that she only wanted the salad bar we would have gone to Sweet Tomatoes instead. My wife ordered the cedar plank salmon. It was a bit overcooked. I ordered the salad bar and the steak and Malibu chicken. Loved the Malibu chicken and the mustard mayo sauce. The steak on the other hand was over cooked, had gristle in every bite and wasn't good at all. Instead of complaining I just went to the salad bar and got more avocados. The service was really good and attentive. Our drinks never got too low and they were on the ball bringing out their famous cheese toast. I came to the Sizzler here on State Street and 9000 close to noon and was empty. I should've took that as a sign and walked out immediately. I ordered the sizzler burger with Swiss cheese and even added the salad bar which I was surprised was open with covid-19 going on. The salad bar was a good hit. Hadn't been in this location for a while but was very disappointed with whole experience tonight, prices went up , portions went down had the salad bar with or meal lettuce & fresh spinach was wet , soggy and wilted , so didn't even attempt to have a salad, plus salad bar was trashed and dirty ! Mentioned all this to our sever (who was ok ) said she'd let her manager know who eventually did come by our table said she was working on getting the salad bar cleaned up while she was there asked about the smaller portions she tried to explain they were a corporate test store they were trying out some changes to the menu ( as per corporate) some prices were going up some down as a test ! Well can tell you we were not impressed with the so called changes if this was true just recently had the same exact meal at another location in the valley with much different results!!!! Used my $5.00 birthday coupon for a ribeye and salad bar. Cashier was polite and told me no decaf coffee because it doesn't sell well in Utah. After being seated I tried the salad bar and the only item that had a natural flavor was the pineapple. Salad dressing was almost gone and it had no flavor. My experience tonight with this Sizzler was very miserable. From the moment we sat down it went downhill. Just because the server was like she from another planet. The food was fantastic! It was perfect. But our server Cheyenne really need help in all aspects of her job duties. She forgot the mushrooms and by the time we could get her attention dinner was almost done. Needless to say that when the mushrooms came out there was not much steak to put it on. The all you can eat shrimp is another story. You don't get anymore. She doesn't bring it. We've come here for years, especially for the salad bar and chicken wings. Now after 2 years away due to Covid, we decided to go back and chow down. Our waiter was cheerful and attentive and had a killer smile! The salad bar was fresh and plentiful. BUT -- our beloved chicken wings were absolutely AWFUL! The waiter told us they had been changed, and had they ever! There was so much hard, thick, nasty crust on them they were pretty much not edible. By the time we got through the crust the meat was almost nothing and what there was cooked to a crisp. Since we have a favorite steak place, we never order steaks at Sizzler. Also, I asked for a straw and napkins. Well, I went to the hostess station to grab a straw, side of toast or rolls and napkins. When we have our main plates, I asked this guy for another side of Shrimps. HOW LONG WOULD TAKE TO FRIED SHRIMPS???????. I remind him my order .... nothing. After 45 minutes on this restaurant I never got a soda refill, I never got the side of Shrimps (that I paid for, remember all you can eat Shrimp), and really this kind of service is soooo bad. I ordered steak and all you can eat shrimp, our waitress dropped our food off and never came back. She didnt check on us or fill our waters. Once my steak, baked potato, and shrimp was gone (with waitress still not in sight) I had to get up to find her to ask her for more shrimp and water; I found her and what appeared to be a majority of the other staff huddled together laughing and dancing.
