I went to Carver's a few weeks ago, and it was by far my best experience there. Staff offered us a kids' menu this time, and generally everything felt a lot more kid-friendly than our previous visits. I didn't have any problems with my food this time, either. I tried the cheddar broccoli soup for the first time, which was heavenly, and the calamari was good, too. As usual, the best items were the coconut-crusted halibut and the mud pie. So I crave prime rib or steak about once a week and we usually go to Texas Roadhouse, but I can't STAND how loud it is sometimes. The ambiance and lighting in carvers is exceptional. Will you spend a little more than you would at Texas? yes, but every once in a while it's worth it. The calamari appetizer was maybe a 7/10. We both like our calamari very crunchy, it was more like a chicken strip. We found out the lettuce and onions weren't just for decoration underneath the calamari though, they went super well together and put it up to an 8/10. As you can see I DEVOURED my prime rib, 10/10. My boyfriend enjoyed his New York even though he didn't realize it was a bone in New York he also wished he would have gotten the au gratin potatoes because he tried mine and OH MY they were delicious. We got the crème brûlée and apple crisp and both were sooo good. Our server was so sweet and helpful, I can't remember her name but she had dark hair and worked Friday October 10th hehehe We will be back for our next special occasion! read more

Restaurant was pretty empty and now we know why...Waitress was so rude. My Son got something he did not even ordered. He was so hungry he ate the wrong dish anyhow. My husband informed the waitress my son's Steak wasn't what he ordered and the server said he didn't ordered that arguing & aggressively. She said rudely do you want another instead of saying she made a mistake. No accountability by the Waitress annoying us verbally at family dinner hour. Unpleasant dinner experience. I asked for hot water. Water was room temperature. Both of our clam chowder soup was cold. My Halibut fish & side veggies was cold ( picture of my plate I left uneaten) I hope the restaurant owners reads this and improve, sorry, horrible dinner out! read more

I've dined at Carvers Steakhouse & Seafood in Sandy several times over the years, and it has always been a go-to spot for great food and a nice experience. Unfortunately, this most recent visit was very disappointing. The food quality was mediocre at best compared to what I've come to expect, and the portions seemed noticeably smaller. The biggest issue, however, was the pricing. I allowed my son to order the 1 lb king crab legs, which were listed as "market price." I didn't think to ask the cost ahead of time, assuming it would fall somewhere in the $75-$100 range. I was shocked when the bill came and the crab legs alone--served with a small salad and a small baked potato--were $213. Our total bill came to $323 (before tip). When I questioned the charge, the waitress simply said that prices have gone up. While I understand that market pricing can fluctuate, a price that high should absolutely be communicated clearly before the order is placed. At a minimum, the server should have offered the current price, especially since it was significantly higher than anything else on the menu. I take responsibility for not asking, but I also feel this lacked transparency and left a bad impression. Between the decline in food quality and the unexpected pricing, I will not be returning. read more

Had dinner there tonight and it was a lackluster experience. Service was crawling at a snails speed. A drink refill couldn't be had or it took an eternity to get. Honestly Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse blow this place out of the water any day. Why pay so much money including an automatic gratuity fee just to have bad service and get attitude from the waitress at the end of paying the check. Looking forward to not coming back. read more

Serving sizes were grossly smaller (oz's) than expressed on executive menu. Filet mignon was not a clean circular cut, but a jagged cut almost like scrap. Dessert slices were extremely narrow wedges; all for $72 per plate. Go to Ruth Chris and get a real steak dinner! read more

The filet mignon had a chemical taste and whatever was on top didn't cover it up. The 3 small shrimp that came with the meal were overcooked and not seasoned. I had the smallest sweet potato I've ever seen covered in equal sized butter. Butter should not be used in such quantity. The Calamari we ate was okay, but definitely not the flavor I expected and there was more lettuce and vegetables than Calamari. I wanted Calamari not Calamari salad. The ambiance was like a barn poorly set up to dine in. Not a great first impression and likely the only one they will get. Price point, way too high for this establishment. read more

We came here for dinner for early Valentine's dinner. We booked our reservation on Yelp which was super easy & nice . We were seated right when we walked in. We love the relaxing atmosphere here. The waitress was very friendly & attentive. We ordered the coconut. encrusted halibut This was amazing . It is covered with a sweet pineapple sauce . It was not too sweet just the right flavor. The fish was light & flakey . It was a good size portion. I got a bake potato with sour cream & butter . This was done perfect. . We also ordered the Prime Rib we wanted it a little bit more cooked .This was super tender & seasoned . The sourdough bread is so yummy & crisp . They have Coke products . We love it here ! Carver's is THE Salt Lake steakhouse standout for traditional steakhouses. The service is impeccable, food is high quality and always consistent. The scalloped potatoes are a must. All the steaks are good. The pistachio encrusted halibut with a blurre Blanc sauce is amazing! If you want a little piece of heaven, ask him to switch out the mashed potatoes for the scalloped gratin potatoes. If you like dessert, you should try the raspberry cheesecake. Tristan provided excellent service and even gave us extra bread. My husband loves extra bread and butter! read more

Maybe I'm one of the few to disagree with all the 5 star reviews at this facility. The service started out great with our waitress whose name was Harmony. Ordered the prime rib, carver cut, medium rare. It was the worst prime rib I've ever ordered. Dry like it came from the fridge and microwaved. Not fresh at all. I asked for more au jus just to kinda moisten it a bit but to no avail. After that request from Harmony, the waitress, we never saw her again so we flagged another server just to get a doggie bag and our check. Super Disappointing. SOL if you have any dietary restrictions such as gluten or lactose. My department held our Christmas dinner here. The menu was reduced to cater to a large group. There was not a single appetizer I could eat. apparently they don't know how to make an appetizer unless flour is the chief ingredient. My salad was just lettuce. At least at Texas Roadhouse there's egg in the salad if you don't get the croutons. I miss classy restaurants of Newport such as seasons 52 that had gluten free options. They even had gluten free breadsticks to dip in the artichoke dip. I can almost imagine a conversation between the owner and chef of Carvers. One asks, "but what if someone has dietary restrictions? Good restaurant. Reservations are easy to make online. Restaurant always seems filled so it can be busy so it can be hard to get water here and there. Recommend ahi tuna and coconut shrimp appetizers. Our entire party got the Tournedos Oscar and everyone enjoyed it. It's very filling and satisfying meal. We usually bring our coworkers here for special dinners. Bussing was good in terms of when we finished our plates. Will be coming back again still. Reliable on the dishes we tend to order. read more
