I came here with my coworkers and it was pretty tasty. Interesting concept with the proteins not cooked and cooking in front of you on your own plate by stirring it around. (hence the name, sizzling lunch) I chose a beef plate and added an egg and kimchi. There were a lot of options but since it was my first time, I didn't want to over do it with additions. I'll be back to try other dishes, the service was great and fast. There was plenty of seating and the music playing.

I took the photo before the meat was cooked but honestly, I crave Sizzling Lunch maybe once a month and each time I leave full and satisfied. Each portion is good for one or two people (depending how hungry you are) and it's so flavorful. I also would recommend any of the appetizers but my favorite one is the cheese fries. The staff is very attentive and the orders come in fairly quick. I also say that you order through a QR code and pay in the front making it easy and convenient.

SO good, as always! Service was speedy, accurate and professional. I have been here several times and it never failed: always taste good. The most fun part is to wait for the bottom of the rice to get crispy. Ambiance was casual, and be prepared to have to wash your hair and shower afterwards. Once you enter, it is all sizzling!!!

Beef Udon & Kurobuta Pork Belly Udon . Comfort food and very tasty. Great service.

What are glass noodles? There are different types - bean, potatoes, or rice. I hope someone from the business can tell me which type is used.

It's a clear noodle which gives it its name :) usually made of starch and water. Pretty much tasteless though, you'd probably just add it for texture to your meal.

Is there an vegetarian options?

Yes, and our Tofu Pepper Rice is a BOOM!

Do they take reservations?

Check in at Yelp for reservation. For parties more than 6, call us at (510)380-6365.

Can I order for to go?

Yes, we have the to-go option right now! Food will be cooked for you hot and fresh!

Is there still a waitlist?

There is a wait list podium by the door as you enter. You can just enter your info and it'll notify you. Most of the time it's not too crowded for the wait list but it's there.

What dishes are able to be converted vegan?

Tofu Pepper Rice without the Garlic Butter is your best bet! You can also add our Curry Sauce to turn it to Curry Sauce Tofu Rice!

Are there low carb options instead of rice and noodle?

Yes, they customize their customers plate so ask for your options and they will help you with it.

Is this dog friendly?

I don't think so. It's a pretty small place indoors.

Do you offer takeout option?

Not for the Fremont location

Is there outdoor seating?

No outdoor seating at the moment.

I ordered the vegetarian curry with tofu and broccoli at the medium spice level (~$17). The spice level was exactly as described and the curry itself was flavorful. My only small complaint is that I wish the vegetarian curry came with a wider variety of vegetables. I was surprised it didn't include potatoes which were an additional charge. The portion size felt fair for one person I had enough to have leftovers for dinner. I do wish the price was a little lower since it's a takeout-only spot, but considering the area, it seems pretty in line with what you'd expect to pay in downtown SF. I did not come in with especially high expectations given the lower reviews, but this spot had been on my list for a while, and I still wanted to give it a fair try. The location is definitely appealing. It sits right on the bridge you cross while shopping around Japantown, so it naturally draws you in. We were seated pretty quickly as a small party of two, but after that, the pacing slowed down. It took a while for our order to be taken, and the food took about 20 minutes to arrive. I ordered the creamy mentaiko pasta, which is a dish I usually love and also enjoy making at home. Unfortunately, this version really missed the mark for me. The pasta itself tasted like basic boxed pasta, and the sauce had an odd consistency. Instead of being creamy and coating the noodles, it was served more like a thin soup. The mentaiko flavor was also very minimal, so the dish lacked the rich, savory flavor I was hoping for. Overall, I really wanted to like this place, especially because the staff seemed so sincere. But based on the food and overall experience, I unfortunately would not recommend it to anyone looking to try new spots in Japantown.
