First off, I have had Pepper Lunch in Milpitas and I low-key thought this was Pepper Lunch when I chose this place for a work lunch. The concept is definitely the same which is good but man I was surprised. [[ Location ]] This is a "new-ish" plaza in Fremont with a ton of parking. Beware of homeless people wandering about as I saw one near me both when I arrived and left. They are harmless but some are carrying a ton of alcohol bottles so it's a bit unsettling. [[ Restaurant ]] The place is really big and since its new, I found the establishment very clean and airy. Great place to have a meal. Ordering is all automated by a QR code on your table. [[ Food ]] If you had pepper lunch or Japanese Teppanyaki before, you basically get a sizzling plate grill with rice/meat that I usually mix up when I get it. It cooks really fast and the meal is hot and delicious. My colleague and I ordered the following: 1.) Hiyayakko Appetizer (Cold Tofu with Ponzu) 2.) Kyuuri (Japanese Cucumber with Ponzu) 3.) Garlic Beef Pepper Rice x2 Keep in mind the lunch can add up really fast as the Garlic Pepper Rice was $17.50 and each add on such as Cheese, Garlic, Onion, etc. are around $1.50 and up. I recommend the lychee if you don't have a strong sweet tooth in the strawberry if it's a little stronger. For appetizers, my favorite is the takoyaki, but my boyfriend prefers the chicken Karaage. They're both really crispy. I was a little surprised that it didn't come out, steaming hot, but my boyfriend pointed out that it was a safe temperature to eat, and it didn't get soggy. For entrées, my favorite continues to be the garlic beef, pepper rice. My boyfriend prefers the garlic beef udon. I tried the salmon and it was good, but the beef here is especially fresh and yummy. Found a new favorite place in Fremont! Came here on a Saturday night and we timed it right because the wait for two was only about 5 minutes. A line started forming about 15 minutes after we were seated. While seating us the hostess asked if we had ever been here before in which we both replied No. She sat us at our table and explained the ordering process to us as well as gave some recommendations. We got the Sugar Mama strawberry lemonade and Sugar Mama dragonfruit lemonade for drinks. I have been seeing these lemonades all over social media because of Foodieland so I was excited to try. The fruit flavor was good but I could have used some more sweetness to it. We ordered the Spicy Crunchy Garlic wings for an appetizer. They were just okay. Not to mention we didn't get it as an appetizer, it came out shortly after the main course and we had to ask about it. Not sure if they forgot about it or what. I would suggest order your appetizer first then order main course after. For dinner we ordered the Spicy Garlic Beef Pepper Rice with added onion, garlic butter, and egg and the Kimchi Pepper Rice with added garlic butter, fried garlic, two eggs, and mushroom. The dishes come out on a sizzling hot cast iron dish on top of a wood dish. You essentially cook it yourself and mix the items around to your liking. The cast iron dish itself stays hot for a long time and keeps food nice and hot for awhile. There are extra sauces and spices on the table to add whatever flavor you would like (garlic shoyu, teriyaki, chili pepper flakes, salt and pepper). Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Only thing I'd change is maybe ask for the egg on the side so I could have put an over easy egg on top once I was done mixing it. read more
