    King katsu
    Belinda T.

We thought we were going to a new restaurant turns out it's Katsu factory by Satomi. We love Satomi and I have been going to the original location even before the current Mowry location opened and before Covid. We've been here a few times since but this is the first time since it has become katsu factory. If you're a rice person this isn't for you. The portion of rice is tiny compared to the meat portion. The sauces also are not your traditional sauces. The plates come with a tiny scoop of potato salad. The tomahawk was a little dry. The cheese tonkatsu was interesting, good cheese pull but we couldn't tell if there was meat in it or not. The king katsu was large but I think the normal katsu at the original satomi is bigger and cheaper. We were let turn by the offerings of katsu factory. If we're craving katsu we'd probably just head back to the original satomi. They were also swamped. We had ordered an udon with extra noodles for the kids... every dish came out and we kept asking, and they kept saying it was coming by the time they finally brought it out after the fifth time asking everyone else is pretty much done with their food also, the side noodles were practically only five dollars cheaper than a whole bowl of udon to begin with. You're better off ordering two bowls of udon so that you can get the meat and fixings.

This is the second time my son and I came to dine at the Katsu Factory. Both times were a very pleasant experience. And their food is consistently delicious. They serve their katsu on a grill to keep its crispiness, we very much appreciate that. We ordered bento boxes and their tonkatsu plate. We can't decide whether we want bento boxes or a katsu plate so we ordered both. It's too good! Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He always stopped by to refill my drink. The restaurant had a large TV and we got to watch FIFA. The restaurant is large, spacious and clean. My son has decided Katsu Factory is his favorite restaurant.

Some really solid katsu! All the katsu here was really crispy & paired perfectly with the salt, tonkatsu sauce, and pickled jalapeños. My favorite was the king katsu and I think it's the best bang for your buck. It was bigger than the size of my hand! definitely shareable in my opinion. It was busy when we came on a Wednesday around 6PN so the wait was quite long to get our food. Otherwise, the workers were friendly and trying their best to be fast. Place itself is spacious and dim.

After seeing some photos of katsu factory, we decided to check it out today and here's some interesting things we found out about Katsu Factory. Katsu factory is actually not a standalone restaurant. It is actually an extended menu from Satomi sushi. Fine by us since we have eaten in Satomi sushi before, I can however see it being quite confusing for the general public. We ordered some of the items from Satomi sushi, but I'll skip those items and stick to just items from Katsu factory. I got: Tomahauk Tonkatsu (5 out of 5) This tonkatsu is definitely "serious". When you see it in person it was so large that it almost look like a tonkatsu steak. Because of its size, you are given a fork and a knife to cut it yourself. I didn't mind it and with the sauce, it was literal tonkatsu heaven. It was boned in on the pork side with a side of cabbage with dressing on top alongside with some corn. You get your bowl of rice and various toppings you can try on your tonkatsu. The portion is generous and I've never had toppings with tonkatsu before and they are surprisingly delicious when dipped in. It's a definite must try if you're a tonkatsu fan for sure! Service (4 out of 5) The restaurant was pretty full. Our waitress was friendly but a little slow since he was only one of two staff serving the entire restaurant. While I am quite understanding of the situation but I still want my water and food though... Would I come back? You know, just for the tonkatsu, of course. This has to be one of the best tonkatsu steak that I've had. With a modern twist, for a hungry guy like me will never go wrong. If you enjoy your pork fried, don't let this one slide!

Katsu Factory is a part of Satomi Sushi - little confusing since there's no signage from the outside to indicate that. Decent ambiance and service other than how uncomfortably hot it was inside during the heat wave, with barely any air circulating. I was hoping to like the katsu, but I'm sure I'd come back. The sauces were different in a way I don't prefer. Sushi itself from Satomi was decent! PASS: + King katsu ($23.99) only had two redeeming factors: generous portion and good breading. Otherwise, it was quite dry and not tender. I wish they didn't pour sauce on the katsu because it became so soggy. Katsu sauce and cabbage dressing were very offputting to my taste

Service was decent, ambiance and vibes were fine as well. Attentive. My friend and I ordered the cheese tonkatsu, and tomahawk tonkatsu. The cheese was bland/dry/mildly cold, the crispiness was decent. For the tomahawk tonkatsu, my friend and I were a little disappointed as it was kind of soggy, not crispy, and flavoring felt a little off. We didn't finish the meal. The sauces that came with were a little off as well. Additionally, wish they'd also have more variety, for example, chicken katsu!

I say 3.5 to 4 stars. Warning: this place is combined with a sushi restaurant, so may cause confusion finding it. Ambiance: ample seating. Casual dining. Sound carries, so it was pretty loud even with only a few groups in the restaurant. Service: service was quick and friendly. Got complementary water and soup soon after seating and had our order taken right away. Had a few staff members check up on us throughout the meal and didn't have to wait long to ask for our check. Food: - Miso soup: 2/5 I wasn't a fan. The paste wasn't fully dissolved and it tastes very grainy. Maybe because it came out lukewarm? Can't complain too much because it was free. - Tomahawk tonkatsu: 4/5 decent size for the price. Meat was tender and the breading was nice and crispy. However, I did not enjoy the sauce that came with it. It's not your typical katsu sauce. It was very sweet and even adding the jalapenos and wasabi didn't help much. Warning: the tonkatsu comes with pickles. I hate pickles and wasn't aware. Ask for no pickles if you're the same way and don't want the juices getting on your sides. Tip: I didn't find much difference in taste between the tomahawk and king tonkatsu that the bf ordered. For the same price, ordering the king gives you a lot more bang for your buck as it's a lot larger

It is in a strip mall inside another restaurant the address shows a door down but the entrance is Satomi sushi 2. A line to be seated but I noticed a sign in sheet. We had around 6 other parties in front of us with two large parties. We waited about 40 minutes to be seated. When we were seated it took a bit to take our order and then waited about 25 to 30 minutes for our food. It was busy with a few large parties. I had the seafood tonkatsu, it was a couple of shrimp, muscles and a few scallops mixed with vegetables. I did enjoy the crunchiness of my tonkatsu with the dipping sauce. If we are in the area I would get the king katsu.

Got them for a family picnic and it's decent. The crust is crunchy and tasty. Given the premium price, I would expect the pork to be thicker and juicier, theirs is a bit thin, thus tastes a bit dried. The cheese one is interesting. Service is okay. Store is clean.

Satomi has a side business & it did not disappoint! I tried the tonkatsu and tomahawk tonkatsu. The side dishes come with pickles and salad. It was an ok mixture. Texture of katsu. The only flaw is that there was too much sauce on the katsu. They should've put it on the side, but other than that. Worth it.

Portions were good and the katsu was very crispy, but a little dry. i would go again to try the cheese tonkatsu. a little pricey but not outrageous

Katsu Factory is combined with Satomi Sushi, which was confusing at first since there wasn't an obvious sign indicating where Katsu Factory was. The service was good and friendly. I got the King Tonkatsu, which is an extra big size Tonkatsu. It can be shared between two people. The pork cutlet was crispy, juicy, and crunchy. The pork to panko breading ratio was good. The price is worth it for the amount of food you receive. It even comes with complimentary miso soup!

Not sure how tied in this business is with Satomi Sushi, but they execute a small 5 item menu inside the Satomi Sushi 2 restaurant space. You can order from either menu, and even the bill is not separated, it's all on one bill. So it is convenient. But whoever is responsible for this hyper specialized menu is doing a good job. All they do are Katsu meals. A couple of pork versions, a melty cheese katsu, and a pork one with sautéed seafood. Tomahawk Pork Chop ($21/4*) Not really a tomahawk, but it is a decent sized pork loin chop with a small rib bone attached. The loin part is pounded thinner which is common for the katsu method. The exterior is a crisp batter versus dry panko that crumbles and flakes off. It is slightly crisp and tasty. The pork itself isn't seasoned so you have to rely on dipping it into something. I think any cooked meat should be seasoned in some shape or form. But the condiments they do supply are very good. Aside from the impressive piece of protein, there is a tasty cabbage salad that has a sweetish creamy dressing. Definitely has slaw vibes except this isn't mixed in, so the cabbage still has a crisp and rawish texture. There's also a condiment plate with tiny mound of pink salt, another mound of pickled jalapeños and daikon cubes and a generous pool of house made katsu sauce. I tried all of them with bites of the pork and all offered their own unique contributions. The pink salt just added basic seasoning, bloomed the flavors, made the pork taste more like pork. I pinched seasoned with this as it is so fine, that dipping a bite into it often yields too much. I still wished they just seasoned the chop before cooking it. But this does help. The Katsu Sauce is phenomenal, don't think I've ever had anything like it. First off it isn't gloopy thick. This has a thinner consistency but it does lightly cling when dipped. It is lighter in color and to me taste like something fruity like applesauce (but smooth) but infused with Asian flavors, lightly salty and lightly sweet. I like this version over other katsu sauces because this just accented the bites versus covering the flavor. And to dip a piece of crisp pork into this sauce along with a pickled jalapeno was quite the epic bite. So damn good! There's also a side of white rice (duh) which totally rounds out this solid katsu meal. I paired my meal with some sashimi from the Satomi menu and it was a meal that I would repeat again and again. Solid local score. Trust.

Tomahawk katsu...really big piece but very thin

They also offered us a small dish complimentary edamame as a starter and a little scoop of free ice cream at the end, which was a wonderful touch. The food came out really quickly after we ordered. The sashimi was really good! The selection of rolls wasn't my favorite (a lot of them contained crab salad, which I usually don't go for), but I did like the agedashi tofu a lot. If you visit for lunch, they have a couple really great lunch special options. I have tried the 3 rolls for ~$16 combo, and it is definitely worth it. The rolls came out a bit messy and not quite uniform, but they tasted perfectly good. Overall, I would (and have) come back! It feels very much like a middle-of-the-road sushi spot with pretty agreeable pricing, and I think it's a good choice for a casual, unpretentious sushi meal.
