Customer service is pretty much nonexistent. Really rude workers. It's like they really don't want to make a sale. They sound really arrogant. And they seem to hate it when we ask if we can see a firearm in the case. They just huddle up together talking story and laughing and never acknowledge and greet us. It is sad to have read all the very negative reviews about Skagit Arms. In stark contrast, my experiences with them have been really great, so I'm not sure what happened to the folks who received such abysmal customer service before me. I'm not for a minute doubting that their recollections are legitimate, just saying that this was not my experience. I have been to the store in person 3 times and have contacted them by phone a handful of times. In every instance I was treated with respect and friendliness from Chad, Rylan and Ryalynn. I really appreciate the quality time that both Chad and Rylan took to explain things to me about my new T1X and options for ammunition that would suit my intended purpose. Moreover, when discussing my choice for an optic, neither one pushed me to buy one. When I called them by 'phone, they actually recognised my voice on two occasions - very rare these days! Since I live on an island and have to take the ferry to the mainland in order to shop, I greatly appreciate having an establishment like Skagit Arms so conveniently situated and with such abundant inventory. I was introduced to Skagit Arms by my partner's brother who is a law enforcement officer with the State of Washington. High praise for the store. I'm a bit shocked by the negative reviews, which -- frankly -- seem to come more from uninitiated people or lunatics who are afraid of inanimate objects. The selection of firearms is exceptional. Service is superlative. What I find very satisfying is that, unlike the sporting goods giants such as Sportsman's Warehouse where the people behind the counter are mere sales clerks, the people who work here are not only experienced, but they know their products very well. I began shooting 57 years ago in U.S. Air Force Basic Training, in one of the last groups that did marksmanship training during the Vietnam War; not only did I qualify for rifle, but my job at a SAC Command Post required that I qualify for pistol as well, shooting the Colt combat masterpiece, the 1911 Series 70. I've been teaching for about 46 years and have had certification as a pistol and rifle instructor. I've been trained in a number of military schools and been to three marksmanship academies that are the most highly rated in the U.S. Granted, I don't know everything about firearms -- but I know almost immediately when someone knows what they're talking about. What's more, I'm a facilitator and instructor who is an end-user of industrial psychology... and can smell BRAVO SIERRA readily... as noted on quite a few of the reviews posted for Skagit Arms. Not one of those I talked with tried to snow me about firearms, were rude, or were anything but polite and pleasant to talk with. I saw one "customer" asking about pistols "sweep" the store and its customers with a pistol -- a definite safety violation and no-no -- until the salesman stopped them almost immediately. Thankfully, the salesman didn't offer any other firearms to the individual who left in a huff. (I've been a Range Safety Officer for almost 9 years, and if this kid knew anything at all about firearm safety, I'll eat my hat. Yours, too.) And, if I may add, I think there were a number of individuals whom I believe may have been in the store to cause trouble -- including a number whose IDs failed to pass muster at the door. I'm NOT a Washington resident, but I have a Conceal Carry certificate from the State of Washington (which I've had since the 1970s): I usually show the certificate before handling a weapon. I closely watched every salesman in the store handle weapons, and they were all very well-trained, safety-conscious, and professional when it involved handling firearms. The store has an excellent selection and I will do some research on prices, quality, and track-record of the few firearms I'm interested in purchasing, as well as obtaining the FFL information from my local (Arizona) proprietor for transfer. Given some of the mixed reviews on here, I suppose I was especially on the lookout for something to complain about. I went in knowing that I wanted to purchase a particular firearm. Midweek, there were around 5 customers in the enormous store, and the employee count looked about the same, although two of them were busy with shuffling display cases around. From overheard comments, I learned they were "short-handed," with two employees out due to illness. One employee was involved in a gun-related "chat" with a customer that went on the entire time I was there. Within a couple of minutes, a salesman asked me what I wanted. He explained he was doing a gun pickup for somebody else but would get to me in 20 minutes or less. It was about 15 minutes. He showed me the display model of what I wanted, got a new one from "the safe," and professionally handled the paperwork. There were no attitude problems, but then I had done my homework and knew what I wanted. The price was about $250 under MSRP for what I bought. This store's stock on display is remarkable, as is their stock of ammunition which covers a lot of the floor. If the wheels come off when I go back in to pick up my purchase after the waiting period, I'll add to this. So far, it was as good an experience as I've had in a gun store. read more

I stopped by because I was interested in buying a rifle. I asked if they had any military specials or deals. The guy was very short with me and said there is a 10% discount. I continued to browse and see if they had the rifle in stock because the guy I talked with was useless. Soon after, two gentleman were walking by and he practically waved them down to ask if they were military. One was ex military and he went into detail about their "blue tag" deals. I stood in awe because these guys weren't even interested in buying and I was. I walked back to confront him and ask him what that was all about and wanted to know more about the "blue tag" deals. He completely changed his demeanor to what it was with me before and was very short. I'm sure there are some better employees there, but that was enough for me to never buy a firearm from them. read more

Bought a $200 rifle scope. Labeled as 30 mm mount, is not 30 mm. Apon calling, discover the only path to a return is spend more money for a different scope. No refund available. Store said it's the manufacturers fault. I didn't buy it from the manufacturer, I bought it from Skagit Arms. Spent a good bit of money with them, but never again. One thing of note, this was the optic recommended by the guy behind the counter. Wish I could leave negative stars. read more

Excellent inventory and selection when some stores have almost nothing. It's a high volume location. Staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. REMEMBER - Be a straight shooter. Skagit Arms sells weapons; not toys, clothing or chili dogs. Be reasonable about your expectations. One older man who was just standing behind the counter near the sig display didn't even bother to ask if I needed help considering I was milling around the counter for 15 minutes waiting for service, but he did have time to constantly surf his phone. Additionally, he did ask another customer that looked just like him, who walked by me if he needed help. So to the folks that posted positive reviews while stating 'don't know why there are posters giving negative reviews" or "you get what you put out", let me just say one word. "Privilege". Well, I was rather disappointed my last trip up there. It was a Saturday, shortly after they opened and was in the market for a Sig. I approached the counter and the sales guy was talking to a nice a couple. So I waited... and I waited... and waited some more. The conversation had nothing to do about guns, but anything and everything else. After the conversation ended nearly 20 minutes later, I approached the counter to inquire about this Sig. The guy was clearly exhausted, or maybe had to take a leak? He hastily went into the back. Either way, they lost a sale and it went to Cabela's. The attitude is that they are #1, and if they don't have it, no one does, and no other info, or comparable models. That's the feel I got from the guy. Won't be back. read more

Ok, I just ignored ALL THE BAD REVIEWS regarding customer service & went to Skagit Arms anyway. I wanted to buy a shotgun & ammo for duck hunting & a pistol for home defense. I had just over $3000 in my checking book for these purchases. I walked in & stood there for at least three to five minutes watching three employees talk with each other. I have mixed feelings. My first visit was great. I had someone who help me with my selection of rifle, went over +/- of each one, possible upgrades and helped me through the purchase of a rifle that would fit for my needs. Then my next visit was to pick up my new rifle, and with very few customers around and several staff...I felt like I was interrupting their day buy picking up my rifle. With three staffers standing right in front of me, nobody talked with me. I asked about buying some sites and accessories, and all they did was point me in the direction. So now I understand some of the previous reviews. Some staff members are great, some should consider a different career. read more

Great gun store. It's super busy for a lot of good reasons. The people their can be very helpful. I find a lot of staff are more that willing to help, but it's a busy store and can suffer for that. With so many new gun owners and newbies to manage, occasional impatients,, though uncommon, is easily ignored for what this store provides. I've never had bad customer service, but if you want great customer care, go when it's least busy. The best customer service gun store I visit has low inventory, low ammo and few customers...it unfortunate it has become this way. read more

Four stars this time for Skagit Arms. I went there to buy a trigger assembly. I was planning on it being crowded there and I was right. I'm happy to see a brisk business happening at a local place versus the national chains. It's been a couple years since I've been in since I do most of my shopping online but I needed a trigger to complete a build. I did not want to wait for a delivery. The employees were busy and after finally finding the triggers behind a gun counter I had to wait for a guy to help me. The gentleman was courteous and friendly and he pointed out the only two triggers I could use. I decided on one and took it home....wait for it..... It was the wrong trigger and I didn't notice before I got home. I know Sh*t happens but it was very inconvenient. I had to spend one more hour returning it and getting the right one. That transaction was smooth as well. I blame myself for not double checking but the man handed me the incorrect one. I guess it can happen to anyone. By the way the inside of the store was immaculate and fully stocked from what I saw. I'll be back eventually. read more

I went in One day to purchase I sling for my shotgun. The person I dealt with was unable to satisfactorily solve my issue. However he recommended a solution which I went home with. I found it unsatisfactory and returned it the next day. However I was told I had to except a gift card. I told the person that was unacceptable and I wanted a credit on my debit card. I didn't care what their return policy was this is how I wanted it handled. He treated me as if I was scamming the Company. I won't go back. He said he could care less. read more

I've been in multiple times in the past two years and even though they always seem busy they seem ready to help you find whatever you're looking for. What I'm MOST IMPRESSED WITH is their ability to GET 5.7 x 28mm ammo. In the year and a half that I've owned my FN FiveseveN, I've only been able to find ammo in one other shop. What most impressed me was that they held a phone order for 500 rounds for me for a week, until I traveled the 225 miles from my hometown of Vancouver, WA to Sedro Woolley to visit family. It was all boxed up and ready for me when I arrived. Additionally I've always been able to purchase 9 mm and either .223 or 5.56 when I visit, unlike the many outages I face back home. Seem to have lots of guns and ammo and always friendly. I only wish they were located nearer my home. read more

I was in Burlington and thought i would stop by to see if they had any sales or just tonsee what they had. I waited at the counter for ten minutes while employees were talking ro themselves. When i did get a representative i asked about 223. Riflea and he laughed and said what you see is what you get. I knew then and there this was a company that did not value customer service or take pride in thier business. Please stay away from this place. Trust me it is not worth the wait. I went in today to look at the sig p365 and p365xl. When I walked in the guy at the counter said hello. I then walked to the sig counter. I looked at a few things waiting for someone to help me. There was at least 3 employees behind the counter not helping anyone. They seemed more interested in there conversation then walking down and asking if I needed help. After about 5 minutes with out being help I walked out. I will never go there again as the price for ammo is high and there customers service is non existent! I went in to return a holster which I bought 2 days before. The holster was unopened. I tried to return the holster and the guy behind the counter said there were no returns over $25 and they wanted to give me store credit. I was never told that, nor was it posted. The gentleman I bought the holster from said I had 30 days to return it for a full refund! I have purchased a half dozen guns from these guys and they give me grief over returning a holster! As a female with very little gun experience I was shocked at the treatment I got at this store. I felt talked down to, disregarded, and judged. I started off by asking about smaller hand guns and was told, "no offense, those are even hard for MEN to shoot, let alone a girl." He barely showed me guns that might suit my situation, gave me no recommendations to set me off on the right path, and not to mention he had a snotty attitude when critiquing my moms gun safety skills, instead of making it a positive teachable moment. He even defended his attitude after she was visibly upset. He made us feel stupid for asking questions and only showed me guns that wouldn't work for me rather then something that could work for me. We even heard another salesman bad mouthing costumers to OTHER costumers. Everything about this store was unprofessional and uninviting. I suggest going down the street to the skagit shooting range!!!!! They treated us like family and filled us with tons of knowledge. We didn't feel stupid for asking questions and ended up spending around $1000 on items because we were so happy!! P.S. all the employees at the shooting range said they have heard many stories JUST like this one about Skagit Arms. That speaks volumes. read more

I brought in my XD Mod for a trade in. They evaluated and appraise it for $275 but I was signing the paper work they said I was $225. All of a sudden they all have amnesia and they refuse to have it re evaluated. Poor customer service and had me pair with the new customer rep which he had no clue of what he was doing..
