I was in the market for used Ford Fusion. After looking online for hours I seen that Skalnek Ford had one in their inventory that was fairly priced. Doug (in the used sales office) helped tremendously with the car buying experience and answered all the questions and concerns that I had. He's someone I would recommend going to. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because we waited 4-5 hours (on a Saturday) to finalize paperwork, etc. That was way too long in my opinion. I've had Ford vehicles in our family since 2004 and bought 2 vehicles through Skalnek and had numerous repairs done there. I purchased a 2022 Edge ST at another dealership but it was found by a great used car salesman, Doug so I felt loyalty to want to have my maintenance plan service done at Skalnek. But 11/14 oil change will be my last. Under a Ford maintenance plan everything is covered for the life of the plan. Oil, lube, air filter, cabin air, wipers, belts, hoses, everything. It even includes free tire rotations because I have the tire protection plan. It has been 8 months and 4800 miles since my last oil change. I expected them to replace both engine and cabin filter and all 3 wiper blades. I expected my tires to be rotated. I expected a car wash. I expected all my fluids topped off and the antifreeze temp level checked. All the things after 8 months and going into winter "thoughtful caring service" should include. Skalnek did the absolute bare minimum. They even issued "Caution" warnings in their report for both the engine and cabin air filters, but they didn't replace them. I even asked and they said "Ford doesn't require us to replace things at yellow". They reported the did a tire rotation but if they did they did a crap job. All 4 tires reported different tire pressure, the front 2 were 35 & 36 psi and the rear two were both low at 32 and 33 psi. They said all 3 wiper blades were fine (AFTER 8 months???!!!) and they reported they checked all my fluids but I checked the washer fluid when I got home and it was almost 1/2 a gallon low. To top it off they didn't even remove the old oil change sticker and just put theirs next to it. In short all of the service was either half assed, bare minimum or flat out wasn't done even though it was marked complete on their report. I won't be taking my vehicles back. read more

I have always taken great care of all my vehicles. I worked in automotive parts for 20 years and only retired a few years ago. I was driving my 2020 ford transit connect van and I noticed the front brakes were not releasing. I had my van towed to a friend's auto shop Michigan certified too. I had picked up some front brake calipers from a supplier. I already had the brake pads and brake rotors for both the front and rear brakes. To my surprise the mechanic informed me the rear brake calipers were locking up so he replaced all 4 brake calipers and all 4 brake hoses all new. He took it for a test drive and informed me the calipers were still locking up and there was a problem with the abs pump. I was sitting in his office while he called the ford dealer in a nearby city. The parts guy told him the pump and module were $853 dollars, but he wanted my vin number. Come to find out i had a warranty to 60k miles, the van has 59279 miles on it. So, i towed the vehicle to Lake Orion to the ford dealer for a warranty repair. They replaced the abs pump and then said that one of the brand-new brake calipers had a stripped-out bleeder screw and they could fix it for 695 more dollars. no thanks! I can see how people could be very vulnerable and just pay them to fix this problem, but why should i have to pay for something that happened while they were bleeding the air out of the lines. I ended up paying 106 dollars. I towed the vehicle back to my driveway where the rear caliper was replaced again. Didn't the dealer make 2300 dollars on the warranty work? I don't believe the stripped bleeder screw was done intentionally but to blame it on someone else is insane. If your technician did this, he needs to fix this free of charge. The people can decide the technicians were the last ones to be opening and closing those bleeder screws to bleed the abs system. read more

CROOKS AND LIARS...Called on a new vehicle that was advertised on the internet, they said it was available and so I made an appointment to look at the vehicle. When the salesman came back, he said the internet price was wrong and wouldn't honor the advertised price then he quoted me $13,000 over the advertised price. I instantly walked out, never to return again. Too bad for them as I was considering buying six new service vehicles from them. Do not trust them. read more

We took my husbands truck in for warranty repairs after contacting several mechanics for availability on our warranty repairs. Skalnek Ford stated to bring it right in. After running the vin rather than reading the 3800.00 warranty documents that were emailed directly to the manager the same day the truck was dropped off, they pulled the wrong warranty up from the previous owner, which was the first issue and started the lengthy delay. Alex Pinkerton the service MANAGER stated we break parts all the time putting in a new transmissions just happens claiming my 70,000, 2018 Ford Platinum is old and it's our fault. The part they broke was the starter. He told us we could tow it out if we didn't want to pay for the part he broke and the new transmission couldn't be programmed if we did that. The work and estimate was entirely covered by the premium warranty we purchased. The truck drove into the shop, but couldn't be driven out without paying for damages directly caused by their mechanic. When I initially addressed the issues through one review Alex, the manager proceeded to put on Facebook things about my personal life, whom I've dated, my billing information and all the personal details about my claim with them. Dollars amounts we paid; bragging about how he put a new transmission in my truck and how I should be thankful he only broke one part. He proceeded to go even further stating I called him repeatedly about my issues. I never called him nonce, he felt with my husband every call except when I grabbed the phone demanding an answer as to why we was forcing us to pay for damages he caused or we can just "tow the truck out". We were never given an estimate because the work was covered 100% by the warranty we purchased with a 100 copay. The warranty company will not pay for damages caused by their mechanic. They denied us a rental vehicle even after stating they had one ready for us. We went 4 weeks without a vehicle. This place is shameful and so is Alex Pinkerton the mechanic. read more

Called the morning of the appointment and was told they would have to check and see if they could do the warranty work after Lyn in service had told me a week earlier they could do the work! By far the worst experience with a dealership ever. They were supposed to fix a recall and are trying to swindle me. I haven't been able to get a hold of them and they've had my car for over three weeks now. They keep trying to tell me my car needs repairs I already have parts for at home. They just seem to not want to give my car back. I will never go here again and I do NOT recommend going here for ANYTHING. DO NOT GO HERE! Body shop is horrible. No communication at all. Took over a month to fix my car from being hit by a deer. 2 of my coworkers got their cars fixed (worse than mine) within a week and a half. They tell you it will be done next week but then you call when they say it will be finished and it's just another excuse why it is not finished. The body shop is an after thought at skalnek. Ford is better than Skalnek makes them look. After buying my last 5 cars there, I won't be back. Your body shop is losing you customers. read more

I went in for my appointment to fix a couple recalls on my Mustang. I've never been there before but I walked in and no one said anything, looked up, or asked what I needed. I found a single chair and sat there for a bit, overhearing the girls in the cashier booth talk poorly of customers. I realized I didn't want to be there due to the customer service (another salesman was just playing on his phone) and the overall appearance of the salesroom. It was run down and seemed dirty compared to any other car dealer I have been to. I got a gut feeling to not let Skalnek Ford touch my car.i left, got in my car, and tried the link in my email to cancel the appointment, but it was invalid. Then I tried calling 3 times to let them know I was canceling and it went straight to "call back later". My appointment time came and went and I never received a call or email asking where I was so guess they just don't care. I know they're moving to a new location but even with a nicer building, nothing will fix poor staff. read more

I've been going to Skalnek for several years now. Leased an Escape for a couple years that was a solid vehicle. A couple of years ago got into an Explorer from another Ford Dealer after my lease was up and when vehicles were hard to come by. I've had to take it to Skalnek for service quite a few times and they never fail to make an inconvenience a positive experience. Always greeted kindly with quick service and turnaround. Recently I showed up without an appointment and my vehicle was delivered back to my house in less than 24 hours... washed! Really great folks there. Thank you Skalnek! read more

We have purchased several cars from Skalnek. We won't be back because of the terrible service department. We brought our 2021 expedition in for warranty work and 2 recalls after we were contacted to say recall parts were in they claimed one was not. Also wouldn't fix any of the 3 warranty items. I was told that my retractable running boards needed more frequent car washes and they didn't even try to repair them. The rear defrost cord came off and they insinuated that that was my fault too and quoted a price for $845 even though it is a warranty item. I called about a few issues that happened after getting my car back from having recalls done. They had my car for over a week with little to no communication unless I called. When I got my car back I opened my center console and noticed all my coins were gone. I also had a few dollars that were also gone. They left trash in my door pockets and the repaired parts were strewn about. I do not recommended them for anything. I'll not being going back. read more

We were looking through cars.com for a newer vehicle for my wife. Found this nice silver Ford Focus after going through countless Kia, Hyundai, Chevy Cruze etc. She needs a smaller car, great on gas and get rid of the headaches of repair and out of warranty issues. Sent in the check availability email through cars.com and the very next day, Ted called. I told him that we will be over to look at it on Thursday. When we got there, Ted personally came out to greet us, showed us the car, I took it for a test drive. Couldn't get on the highway, too far from the dealer, but back roads through all the pot holes and lights. All seemed OK. My wife loved the car. We decided to deal. Ted was very patient with the whole process, making us feel at home. Finally the car was ours. He showed my wife every little gadget in the car before bidding us farewell. He even upgraded our CPO to the Premium A plan covering this Focus for the next 7 years or 100000 miles bumper to bumper. Which other dealer would upgrade a CPO to the bumper to bumper backed warranty? We thanked him and left. On the way home we decided, from now on any friend or family who is in need of a Ford vehicle, we will surely send them to Ted at Skalnek Ford of Lake Orion MI. Do not buy from this dealership. If you do check out every little thing twice, have it documented and still be weary. The salesperson was responsive initially but they hide a bunch of stuff even if you ask. I've brought it up and no one will respond. They refused to release the title after I had paid for the car in full, didn't have a temp plate and wrong the wrong year on the paperwork so I had to fix all the myself at my own cost. I had a recall notification and made an appointment at Skalnek Ford. I made arrangements to use my wife's car the day the dealership had my car. No call all day so I stopped in near the end of the day. They brought me back to show me that they damaged my exhaust system and they needed to check with Ford to see if they would cover the damage. I had no car over the weekend. Monday I get a call that they won't fix the damage they caused and suggested I get it fixed at the muffler company down the street.$355.00 out of my pocket and the dealership didn't even offer to pay. I will never go back to this dealership for anything. In my business, if we damage someone's property we fix it fast and apologize. Skalnek..doesn't. STAY AWAY!!! They are terrible!!! read more

Bought a used car and traded in a car at the same time. The dealership is old and run down. The purchasing process was slow and the sales rep constantly seemed confused. A lot of the computers didn't work so we had to jump desks. The sales process was overall unpleasant. Only giving two stars because the car is good, but you can get a car anywhere. I was looking for a new car and my husband found just what I was looking for online at Skalnek Ford. I met with Mike Steffler in new car sales and it was the best car buying experience I have ever had. There was never any pressure at all and after test-driving the 2021 EcoSport, I was pretty sure this was the car for me. Again, Mike didn't pressure me into buying it on the spot so I went home and thought about it overnight. The next day I went back in and told him I wanted the car and a few hours later, I was driving off the lot in my new car. I was also happy with my trade-in amount, which is something else I have never been able to say about another dealership. If there was a zero rating I'd use it. Guess when your main purpose in you employment life is to take care of people, you can't understand when others don't. Bought a used car 3 weeks ago from Skalnek Ford. Purchased my last used car there. I have never in all the years I've purchased used cars bought an extended warranty. Drove it four times and two hoses blew. After much conversation back and forth and a $150 towing bill (because the salesman said get it to me and I'll take care of it) they relented and covered the cost of the repair. Took 5 days. Then I drove it 3 more times and the check engine light came on. Bottom line, the turbo charger needs to be replaced. When a Chevy dealership ran the code diagnostic it said test fail after code cleared about the booster. Anyway, they will not pay or help pay for the $1400 replacement. Don't get me wrong, I understand the term "as is", but sometimes doing the right, humane thing really counts. I know in making a few calls this morning that a lot of our local dealerships work with customers for up to 90 days after they purchase a used car. My luck Skalnek "no longer" does this. Really tough lesson learned. Sad that the bottom line is all that matters to some folks anymore. I have learned from the dealership helping me with this mess that had Skalnek detected a leak in the coolant system upon initial prepurchase inspection or after the hoses blew, this issue wouldn't of occurred. I was promised a second key would be covered by the salesman and I still haven't been reimbursed for that either. read more

Worst car dealer and service center in Oakland county. If you're looking for a Ford I would not recommend. Have given this place a few opportunities over the last 6-7 years and they always come up short. The sales staff is untrained or just not smart. I'm convinced that the service center could not change a flat tire if pressed into service. Took my explorer there a few times for service and could never solve problem. Once for a leaking radiator they told me it was just a radiator cap. Took it right across the street same day and had to have radiator replaced. The whole place is dirty and looks to be from the 50's. I just had to get a company lease from there about 2 weeks ago which I was not to happy about. I figured they could handle the paper shuffling of a lease which they did. 3 days later my backup sensors quit working and now I am stuck with out a service center to repair it Ford Motor Company should be more aware of who they have selling and working on their products. Today I took my car to get an oil change. I was taken at my appointed time. They covered the seat and floor with protective covering. They did an all points check of engine and tires. No pushy up selling. They did note my air cleaner should be replaced by next scheduled oil change. The charge was so reasonable only $19.00. The business is older, not all the bells and whistles as some but the service area was very clean..I will be back for the quick personal service I received. read more

Simply the worst. I have bought a few new cars from them, but find they lie, misrepresent, use deceptive sales tactics, and have the absolutely worst service department know to mankind. During the last encounter I found the grossly obese owner (Steve Skalnek), hiding behind his desk trying to diffuse my legitimate complaints after I raised a documented ruckus. Nothing the dealership did before, during, or after the sale of the last vehicle was satisfactory. I even caught them in a Manufacturer's warranty scam. I called Skalnek Ford to have them tell me anything wrong or of note about a vehicle I was interested in. They failed to tell me that it was a accident vehicle. I drove over an hour to look at the vehicle to later be told that, "The vehicle had been in an accident and that it was on the carfax." Pretty annoyed about the omission of information. Later after not buying the vehicle I returned home and looked up the Vin number for the vehicle. Not only was it a wreck, but it had 85k Miles when it was sold at an auction. When I saw the vehicle the Odometer was set to 53k mi. Something very dishonest is going on at this dealership I recommend you shop elsewhere. read more
