Salesman Dan My husband and I arrived at the dealership on a Saturday around 10am with the dealership closing at 2 to look at a car we seen on their website. Upon arrival we were informed that a dealer had driven the car home and was not able to bring it back for a sale (our fault for not calling in advance). We were asked to return on the following Monday. My husband and I explained how difficult that would be for us with having to find a babysitting plus us both working full time jobs Monday-Fridays. We were willing to come back as long as we could get our trade in appraised and talk numbers before driving the half hour to come back. They offered us a great trade in value so we decided to leave that day and return another day. When walking out, I browsed the lot a little more and found a different car I really liked. We test drove it and I fell in love. So we got right to the paperwork. Paperwork was finished at 2:10pm (they closed at 2). By the time we had even sat down in the car every employee was driving off the lot. My husband realized his prescription Oakley sunglasses were missing so we got out and started to look around thinking they fell out of his hoodie pocket when cleaning out our old car. Our dealer ended up pulling back in to see what happened. We explained the situation and said "oh it will be ok, I don't have keys to get back in to the building and your trade in is locked". The situation was far from "ok" as those were prescription sunglasses that had cost over $300 just a few months prior. On the following Monday my husband called at 9am when they opened to remind our salesman about the missing glasses and to keep an eye out for them and that we would be in later that day to search the trade in car. Our salesman NEVER even told anyone else they were missing. So we get there and my husband asks to take a look in the trade in and the man that cleaned out our car says "oh yeah, I found them, I threw them away". Why would someone find a pair of name brand sunglasses in a newly traded in vehicle and just decide to throw them away?!?!?! Well this is where it gets better. My husband was then informed that the trash bag they were in was right on the top in the dumpster and that he could go find them. And so he did. Upon finding them they were completed gouged and beat up. We also remembered at that time that our young daughter happened to leave her prescription ADHD meds in the pocket on the sliding door. Guess what was never found. I called to speak with a manager who wanted us to yet again drive the glasses out to him so he could walk across the street to SVS vision to see if they could be buffed out. Clearly they cannot since the buffing would take away the prescription. They offered us a check for $100. Due to them sending us $100 towards the glasses I will give this dealership a 1 star rating. Otherwise, the customer service, the telling a customer to go look in the dumpster, and the missing ADHD meds were a ZERO!!!! Do not waste your time at this dealership. We purchased a used vehicle from this dealer in April of 2024. Out of the 6 months of ownership it has been in service for more than 40 days. We have replaced the rear differential-axle, hubs, alternator, spark plugs, sensors and now have to replace the catalytic converter. This $13,000 2016 Lincoln MKX has cost over $10,500 in repairs in the only 6 months we have owned it and there is no way the dealership was completely unaware of all of these issue. read more

My wife and I went in to look at an explorer we found on their site. We asked Kyle if they would be able to buff out a few scratches at our cost if we chose to buy it and he said "its a used car we buy them at auction your going to have that" then raved about how cheap it was. We then asked to look at an expedition max and drove that and was interested but wanted to compare cargo space to the standard size expedition. So we followed him in after all that to get our appraisal on our vehicle (2022 Acadia Denali with 37k miles I paid cash for) and he says to his associate "I'm not giving theses kids an appraisal" not knowing I was right behind him. I am in my late 30's Kyle. Never treat anyone disrespectful as you don't know their morals, their bank account balance or how many customers they will bring you. Purchased a 2013 Subaru from this dealership on 5/1/24. Supposedly the car was "completely checked out by qualified mechanics" and had a clean bill of health, per salesman Dan Spinek. Nothing but problems, didn't even make it an hour on the way home. The used car sales manager, Tina/Gina, refused to provide a quote or any form of documentation of the sale after I put down a $2500 deposit. Nothing but a credit card receipt. Claimed I wasn't entitled to a quote or purchase agreement until I paid in full (not true, per MI SOS). Then she pressured me to buy an expensive warranty they profit on, told me I had better buy it because "if the transmission falls out on the way off the lot, it's on you." Guess that was because their "qualified mechanics" didn't address the several engine codes I got as it died an hour later and had to be towed over a 100 miles. Followed up with Dan who sent me some internal service documents, none of which addressed the engine codes and dead battery I had to replace the day after I bought it. This is a Ford dealership, you expect better. No integrity at all or they would buy the car back knowing how much was wrong with it. Tina was rude and unpleasant, especially after I passed on her pressure-tactic warranty. Apparently this outfit sells cars they know need work and try to cover it with a warranty that costs twice what I would pay myself. Again, don't trust anything these prople say about the condition of their used cars. Band-aid work until you leave the lot. I'm 60+ years old with six kids, I've bought a LOT of cars. This experience is the WORST I've ever had. My advice: steer clear. The fact they are a Ford dealership means nothing. read more

Worst service dept. Had all 4 tires replaced a year ago. Returned to service them twice afterwards because they screwed up the valves. Sure they fixed a couple of the tires but not all of them. Got a low tire warning again. Took it back a 3rd time they just put air in the tires. Still getting low tire warnings. We check the tires sure enough, they're low on air. I take this car out about twice a month. Tires have to get air every month. I don't recommend this dealership. They don't know what they're doing. read more

My husband and I went to Imlay City Ford on Saturday (June 14th) to look at what they had available. I fell in love with a 2012 Metallic Silver Ford Escape. Dale was the first one to approach us and said that he'd love to take down our information and follow up with us a week from Monday. We went to the bank on Wednesday to see if I could get approved for the loan and based on my credit score, I was able to get a good rate. So everything was going smoothly... we called Dale to schedule a time to come out and finalize the purchase. When we went back yesterday (June 19th) to finalize the deal, it all went downhill. You would have thought we were dealing with a completely different person. We were comfortable with the listing price (including tax, etc) and he thought he should get more out of the deal. Then, his guys took my current vehicle for a test drive, came back and exaggerated the condition that it was in and offered me a trade-in figure that was basically an insult. When we proceeded to walk out, he didn't even try to fight for our business. If you choose to go to this dealership for a vehicle, I would suggest working with anyone but Dale. read more

The price was insanely low, and yet the service was nothing less than remarkable. Our salesman, Michael Bruno, was incredibly patient with me on the phone, even when I needed a ride 20 minutes away to drop off a rental vehicle I used to get there. When I arrived, the truck was everything they said it would be, and MUCH MORE. It's been a few days now and I still can't believe I get to drive around in such a nice Explorer. BUYER BEWARE! Make sure you look over your vehicle TOP to bottom. Ask for a ladder so you can see the roof of your vehicle if you are buying a truck and are not tall enough, because you definitely can't trust the sales people to tell you that there is a large dent and the entire roof is scraped down to the metal. On 23 Feb I inquired about a vehicle for my son and what if any warranty was provided. They replied that there is not any warranty on the vehicle. Not a problem, I will continue looking. Given the distance to travel to Imlay City for a vehicle that did not have a warranty was not worth my time, I can find that a lot closer to home. I am not a mechanic, and a warranty is important to me, which is exactly why I wanted to go to what I thought was a reputable dealer. Subsequently, on 25 Feb I was contacted by Tina Williams that there was in fact a 3 month 4000 mile warranty covering "engine, transmission, drive axles, braking components, and some electrical". I made the trip to the dealership and took the vehicle on a drive. As I said I am not a mechanic, but I have also been around long enough to know a bad wheel bearing when I hear it. The trouble with this vehicle is that due to the tread style the noise could be explained. I expressed my concerns to Tina, and as she was reading the list of all covered components it was implied that the bearings would be covered. After purchasing, I was able to take it to my local mechanic for a full inspection. One of the numerous problem areas on this vehicle were 2 bad wheel bearings. The brakes were new, so the assume your dealership replaced them. If this is indeed the case then there is no excuse for them to not know the bearings were also bad. My personal opinion is if the service department is not simply incompetent then this was a specific coverup of bad bearings. Buyer beware, this is my own fault. I did not expect a new car, but also did not expect blatant lying from a brand named dealership either. Tina and Dan both told me that the "warranty" was through Ford and I could take the vehicle to any dealership, so I took it to Suburban Ford in Sterling Heights. After it spent a week there I was finally told that Ford considered the bearings, struts, and leaking drivetrain components a pre-existing condition. What this also meant is I was now needlessly out $325 for the inspection fees, and nothing was repaired. After leaving Dan a voicemail I was contacted by Tina asking me to bring the vehicle to your service department, meaning I had to take time off work again and make the trip. All leaking components were then repaired by your service department without hesitation. This leads to the question of if the warranty work was already denied by Ford as a preexisting condition how was Imlay City Ford able to complete it even though the pre-existing status did not change? Within 100 miles of driving the check engine light came on. The cause was the evap and smog components. This could be completely coincidental, but given the history already experienced I highly suspect Imlay City simply reset the code and put the vehicle on the lot knowing full well the fault would not reoccur until well after the vehicle was sold. This cost me over $1000 to get repaired. I expressed my disappointment to the dealership, and to this day have not heard a thing. read more

Our 2017 Escape was in for a small accident. Took 2 weeks due to a back ordered part, not Imlay City Fords fault. My issues with them though include multiple non returned phone calls, they promised a vehicle to drive and never came through, rude customer service when I could get my service guy on the phone, and they left greasy hand prints all over the inside of my car. I called Imlay City Ford to rotate my tires for an F-350 DRW (Dually). They had a special but also added in fine print that it would cost extra for rotating a dually, which was fine. When I made the appointment, I made it clear I was bringing in a DRW. When I showed up for the appt., I was quite rudely told that they could not rotate the tires on this because they would have to remove the tires from the inside wheels because they were steel wheels and not aluminum. Then in another sentence, added: "it would take me two hours to do this"....Funny, I thought that was why I was getting it serviced, was so the service dept. could WORK ON IT!!!! Soooooo, I wasted two hours today driving over....BTW, dually's are not known to get great gas mileage, so on top of it all, I spent $10 in gas for a wasted trip......also, I would have gave this business a ZERO if yelp would have had that option. Worst experience ever and if you can go somewhere else, I would HIGHLY recommend doing so.......I KNOW I WILL!!!!!!! read more

My local dealer found the car I want at Imlay, the dealers agreed to an inventory swap, and I gave my dealer a credit card number for the deposit. That took place April 27, 2013. We got excuse after excuse (all now seem to be lies) from Imlay about releasing the car to my local dealer. More than two weeks later, I was finally told that I couldn't have the car until the end of the month because the dealership owner's son "WANTS TO USE IT FOR PROM". Do you think this is a valid reason to not deliver a new $38.000+ car to a cash-in-hand customer? THIS DEALER DOESN'T GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS. read more

Within 10 minutes Delilah called me with some questions about what kind of vehicle I was looking for (A ford fusion). We set up an appointment for me to come in the next day. When I arrived o 5/21/15 Delilah was waiting for me at the door to immediately greet me with a smile and a handshake. (Im a HUGE customer service freak and I'd say she NAILED it!) We then went to sit down and discuss options. Delilah already had a beautiful 2014 Ford Fusion SE picked out for me. She took a copy of my DL and within 5 minutes of walking in I was already on my way out for a test drive. AND OH MY GOD! The car is amazing. When I came back we sat down to seal the deal. This is the first time have bought a car at a dealership and have never dealt with the process of a loan like this. Delilah was so nice about explaining everything to me and answering all of my questions. She actually also had another couple looking at cars and was very polite about stepping a way to get them off on their text drive. The whole thing took around an hour and a half. My husband & I had been having some financial problems & the first thing that we needed to change was our car payment. Because of these issues, our credit scores where not the greatest. We just knew that the best place to start was the car payment. We were hoping we could cut the payment in half being as we currently were making payments on a 2012 Tahoe. I loved that truck but knew that it just wasn't financially fez-able for another 3 years, (struggling for the last year to make the payment) & who was going to be able to take the Tahoe for what we owed on it. Well, the decision had been made between my husband & I & we knew just the place to go & the salesperson to see, Jeff Trott. He got us into a 2015 leased Escape for 2 years at a payment that was $270 cheaper then the Tahoe & gave us a fare trade on the Tahoe (not what was owed but do-able). No, the Escape is not even close to a Tahoe, which I loved, have I told you how much I love the Tahoe, but it's not the worse car ever & it will work for 2 years. My husband & I are very thankful for the help we got from Imlay City Ford & Jeff Trott. Now we can work on getting our finances back on track & improving our credit so that it can be at a good score once again when we turn in our leased Escape & maybe purchase, or lease, a much larger vehicle that I would prefer to drive. I live in Imlay city and took my Ford Fusion here for required recall repairs because it was so close to my home. The repairs took a day longer than they told me which wasn't the end of the world since they gave me a free rental. However, my complaint was when my car came back it just reeked of oil/gas. It was as if the mechanic was hiding somewhere in the car. I let it air out for days thinking it would go away. It did not. When I called the dealership to complain they did apologize but did not offer to clean it or to remedy it in any way. I had to pay a detail company to clean my car at $150 to remove the smell from their mechanic. They should have put covers on the seats while they work on the inside. They just seemed like they did not care about my concerns. I will not be going back to this dealer again--I'd rather drive to Lapeer. read more

I take my five stars back! I will never go to this dealership again. I brought my car in because the check engine light was on. After being rude to me they finally gave me a rental car to get to work. ( I only come to this dealership bc Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights gives a 40mi/day limit on their loaner cars and I live far from work) I received a call later that day and was told that the part they needed for my car was not in and if I wanted to pick my car up. I picked my car up (they updated my computer and something else) and waited patiently for my part to come in. It took weeks. I brought it back in and paid my $100 deductible as I have the extended warranty. Three to four weeks later I started getting harrasing phone calls saying I never paid for the first visit. I called them and told them the only reason the car was brought in twice is because they did not have the part in to fix my vehicle. Once it was fixed, I paid and have the receipt. 3 weeks after that they started harrasing me again!! It's not my fault the workers do not know what they are doing and why would I give them my credit card over the phone for something I already paid for? I am looking at getting a new Ford and now I will be going back to Suburban Ford of Sterling Hegihts when the time comes. read more

I have a 2013 Escape, went for oil change, they put in wrong kind of oil, when discovered (the bill was to cheap) they took car back in drained oil and put in correct oil. They ate the difference in price which was fair as it took longer then it should have. This happened once before and they gave me a free oil change. My account has now been flagged so when I come in this won't happen again. I have bought 3 brand new vehicles from this dealership and have always been satisfied. Have found them friendly, helpful and honest. read more

First off a big shout out to Dale who sold my husband a used car and when we noticed the big puddle of antifreeze on the ground Easter morning 2 days after he brought it home we were told it was out of his hands. The manger also told us to bring it in and pay $109 so the mechanics could diagnose the car. We already new what was wrong, when the porters power washed the crap out of the engine they must have power washed off some rust from the pipe that runs to the engine causing a major antifreeze leak. My husband was showing the mechanic the pictures of the cracked pipe and all he kept saying was, "you really should just bring it in so we can get a closer look". I find it hard to believe that after 48 hrs used car or not that someone was unable to help us out. It does make sense now why my entire family has chosen to go elsewhere for all our car buying needs and why we will go elsewhere next month to purchase my new car. Way to go Imlay city ford, in a world where customer service has gone out the window I'm sure dealers around would be happy to make sure they have happy customers. read more
