The place is large and well kept but the salesman i got was useless. He basically sat there while i tried on new ski boots the wrong way. I knew something was a bit fishy when i knew more about the boots and skis then he did. Once i got home and did some reading i realized i was trying on my boots completely wrong. Will not return due to lack of good sales help. It DID seem there may have been a couple salesmen there that did have extensive knowledge but i did not get one. read more

After buying a pair a race boots last year for my son, I didn't think Ski Barn's customer service could get any better. Mike did everything possible to make sure he got the right boots and fit, including multiple visits to the store and plenty of staff's time and attention. After his boots were lost at a race in Maine this year, Mike jumped through hoops to source out another pair of the same boot and overnight them to Maine so he could get back on his skis asap. He even sent along a heater to custom fit the liners. We have since returned the heater but the gesture and trust were extraordinary in today's business environment. Customer service at it's best. We will continue to utilize Ski Barn as our "go-to" outlet for all of our ski needs. read more

Customer care sure isn't a top priority here. Although the store is nice and they have a good selection of equipment at relatively high prices, they lack in customer service. Staff is rude and acts like they want to be anywhere but the store. I purchased a pair of boots for $500 and had bindings mounted to a pair of skis for another $75. When I asked if they would adjust the bindings on my second pair of skis to fit the boots I bought from them, they said that too would cost me. After a purchase like that, you think they would adjust the bindings complimentary...nope. I am taking my business elsewhere to someone who treats their customers like customers. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had renting ski equipment. The boots are very terrible quality, which every experienced skier who rented in our friend group reiterated. Extremely slow and disorganized to pick up, and when my rentals were taken from the mountain top and disappeared (an honest mistake on the other party's part) the response was basically you're up a creek without a paddle. No attempt to make it any better aside from offering to charge me full price for the missing skis and me paying for a rental replacement. Told me I should have had a buddy system with my skis while I went to the bathroom and it wouldn't have happened. Next suggestion was I should have stood at the top of every lift and inspected every single person's skis.... What? No thanks. Other party returned skis eventually, so worked out in the end, but they clearly do not care about their customers after rentals are signed and done. Better than no rental equipment I guess, but book ahead literally anywhere elsewhere if possible, this should honestly be a last resort. read more

Great store here in paramus area but the STAFFS ARE VERY RUDE specifically the Staffs in the Snowboard Section! this must be the 3rd time we went to the store to look for some good snowboard gears & since we are beginners on the sport we are assuming we will atleast get a decent good costumer service. But we ended up on this guy who we kindly asked for a size 7 men snowboard boots & sadly we ran out of size 7 sizes. The guy said he got 7.5 instead & higher. We kindly asked him if we can try on the size 7.5 boots just to feel the size difference. He was forcing us not to "try on" & not "to buy" the boots because "we will ended up not liking it" & in the middle of it all he was trying on his new pair of snowboard boots while talking to us.. Poor customer service. Staff was unwelcoming. One staff member pestered us while a friend was choosing gloves that fitted her the best. She rushed us to make a decision. Three staff members kept an eye on us for I don't know what reason, while were looking through their apparel. We were singled out among all the other customers. It felt like we were being profiled. I've visited many ski shops searching for the perfect snowboard to purchase for the upcoming season. My first board was not good from the start and I had a terrible learning experience with it. I rode it out for 3 years now, learning all the necessary techniques improperly. Naturally, I seeked for an improvement that would blow me away and would hopefully correct my riding. The service in this ski shop is beyond amazing. The staff truly want to help and do not just want to make sales. They discussed the advantages of certain boards over others through their own experiences and trials, being frequent boarders themselves who purchase several boards each year. I was originally going to purchase a board over $500 due to 5 star reviews online, but the staff helped me narrow down to a choice that was not only cheaper but fit closer to my riding style and what I was searching for. It's too bad I don't live close to this ski shop because the next time I buy a board or a friend needs to buy a new board, I would definitely come back. read more

Sure... let's take time off to do this...Enter and be prepared to stand around while the employees wander around and chat with each other. Visited Ski Barn in Wayne NJ today and had a great experience. I drove about 45mins from Staten Island NY because I read that they're the best boot fitters around and they definitely are!! Boot fitter Mike D. did everything that could be done to my very old boots to get the fit as tight as possible, which is what I was looking for. He really went above and beyond and I will definitely visit this location whenever I need ski gear. They were even able to wax and sharpen my skis in less than 30 mins. I highly recommend this particular Ski Barn to anyone who has any skiing/snowboarding needs. read more

Skiing is not cheap. Ski Barn at least embraces that and looks to give you value where they can. The end of season and start of season sales are very good, and the season rentals are fair. I've been going here since I was a little kid. Used to do seasonal rentals back in the day. Need anything for skiing? This was the place. Now as a grown-up, I can see it carries the most expensive things in the industry that's already expensive. I went in hoping to spend $250 on a pair of Jr. ski boots (I have small feet) but the guy wouldn't bring me any, just forced me to try on the best they had in my size. Unfortunately, I fell in love with some beautiful, comfortable (like your foot melts into the boot) boots that will last for a long time but spent $600 on those, a helmet (it's extremely cute) and goggles. Oops! This place sucks you in. Prepare to spend a chunk of money you don't want to spend. The customer service was great, which you're probably also paying for. I do miss Princeton Ski Shop, for us common folks. 10 years ago, I got skis/boots/poles for $600. read more

Had an aggressive sales person. Items I would liked were not in stock, he offered other options. He proceeded to tell me how their neighboring ski shop competitors are inferior in skills. When I mentioned that I didn't like how the boots looked he told me that anyone who thinks looks are important should stay away from him and that he would never ski with someone obsess so trivial like the looks. Also told me that the foot gets tired after 2 boots and won't show me other ski boot options. All in all terrible experience. read more

Nick at Ski Barn has been a wonderful help in ordering some summer items that needed fairly detailed questions answered. He gave me his personal number and has been super communicative. I rent kids skis from Ski bar every year and every year they give me either bad skis or boots and then charge you as if it was you damaging it. They over sold a camera to me then when I came back from vacation and wanted to return the camera they didn't take it. The customer service is bad, service is slow, and they'll charge you for every little thing. Not good business. read more

Save yourself time, money and aggrevation; avoid SkiBarn on Rt. 17. Angry, unprofessional staff acts like they are doing you a favor taking your money. They advertise a low package price and then when you get there, packages at that price are "sold out." Plus, there are essential parts of the package (i.e., ski poles) that you have to purchase in addition. All of that is a surprise until you get to the check out. So your low cost seasonal ski package winds up costing you hundreds of dollars, hours of time and mountains of aggrevation. read more

Julie Rosica is the Sales Rep that you need to meet at Ski Barn in Paramus. I had bought a few gorgeous patio furniture sets a couple of years back and it had started to fade out. Turns out that the furniture makers had one bad batch that year, and I was the unlucky recipient. However, talk about standing behind your product, Superstar Julie came to the rescue. She told me to email her some pics of all the pieces and she totally WOW'd us by personally visiting our home on a Sunday Afternoon (on her day off ) in order to examine all of the my furniture Needless to say, this Ski Barn Dynamo had 3 of my sets replaced within 4 weeks. Being in the hospitality industry my whole life, I thrive on great customer service, and this by far was my most memorable experience to date! Kudo's to Julie Rosica. Rude staff. Not helpful and pushes you to shop at other places like saying to get out. Stares at you and waits impatiently for you to buy something already and follows my friends around like they were suspects to shoplifting. Funky stench upon entering the store. Not much selection. I have never been treated so rudely by staff at a store before. I was trying on gloves that could fit over my wrist guards. Of course I had to try them on and as a customer, no matter how long you take to decide on a product it is still your right to be respected by the staff. Gloves were left in good shape and never damaged when being tried on so I don't see the problem there. Staff comes over multiple times implying why I have not decided yet (buy something already?), pushes me to try on gloves which I already did and says she will help me decide which I did not need any assistance and clearly just need time to decide on my own. Says that these are the only ones they have on stock and maybe I could try to shop at campmor next door or some other place. Maybe I should have done so in the first place! I found the staff to be helpful, except that they guy I dealt with was very insistent that I get boots that were 2 sizes too small. He claimed that I needed this size in order to protect my feet, specifically my ankles. I kept telling him that I wasn't comfortable, that I think I needed a bigger size. He kept telling me that the boots would adapt over time. Well, this is my second full year using the boots and my feet get cold due to poor circulation because the boots are too small. They're still not comfortable. I should have been a better advocate for myself and gone somewhere else, but I trusted the guy because he was so sure that this was the best thing for me. I trusted his expertise. I still shop there, but I'll be sure to use someone else the next time I need boots. His recommendation for skis, however, was great. read more

The Ski Barn staff can deal with close to, if not all problems that may arise in the store. They cater to all levels of skiing, snowboarding, fashion, and just plain winter fun. Albeit winter sport prices are expensive Ski Barn does its best to make it as affordable and achievable as possible, specifically during their end of the season deals. All the employees help out customers not only for the sake of the sale but also to cater to what they truly need. All of the staff seems to have tons of experience on the mountain and know what they are talking about. Also their summer outdoor furniture deals are not to be overlooked. Yesterday I was looking for patio furniture and stopped at SKI BARN, located at 846 Rt. 17 N, Paramus, N.J. Aside from their really beautiful jackets and clothing, which are now displayed, they convert to a outdoor furniture store after the winter season. I was home for hours when I got a call from the store that the owner had found my wallet in the parking lot. They went to the trouble of calling my credit card company to find out my phone number. This is a great store with great employees. I had a terrible time trying to find ski boots that would fit my wider than normal feet. Tom and his fellow coworkers in the boot area spent a great deal of time helping me find a great pair though. Not only that but, he then worked on them until they fit me perfectly. Been going here for years. Lots of equipment, the staff is pretty helpful. Prices can be a bit towards the higher side but its a seasonal sport. The only other quality ski place is mt Everest in westwood which I would consider equalty as good. read more

I live close to Ski barn, Paramus. Having said that, you have three options within 5 or so miles. I'm familiar with all of them. Ski Barn is the best of the three. And when you considering other options further away, they're still top notch. The point I'm making is Time + Knowledge = Wisdom. When you see a selection of skis, you're basically looking at colors. Find Tom Rossi and discuss your ability and what you're looking to do. Are you a racer?, family/all mountain skier?, jumper etc. He can cover all of your options. Even more important- Boot Fitting. It takes time and proper fit is paramount. Things are heated up and adjusted for comfort. It's what they do! Tom Rossi and his staff do this all day, everyday. Amazon Prime does not let you try on boots or make fitting adjustments. Saving a few dollars will probably be years of discomfort. If you enjoy the sport, invest the time speaking to knowledgeable people who know our region and its conditions. Of course, you can get great deals at the end of the season or buying last years equipment. It still takes salespeople with Wisdom to assist. read more

I bought a pair a boots there recently and the chic that runs the snowboard area is effin awesome, I didn't catch her name, tall skinny chick with short mohawky hair. She spent a lot of time fitting me and my friend up, and was genuinely concerned that our boots fit right. They even offer free heat molding on the boots free of charge. Went there on a busy January Saturday afternoon with wife and kids. My wife buys a pair of ski boots (the guy for the ski boots was good) as well as some accessories, I go for the seasonal rentals for my kids...it takes some time..trying on ski boots ..and finally they tell me they have no skis but will get some from another shop by Tuesday. had filled all forms along with phone number...They did not charge me anything for the rental at this point though...following week, no phone call, went back following Saturday a useless call as they could hardly find my name in their files,once there, they could not find our paper work, figured they did write my phone # incorrectly....anyway after another 30 mins of filling paper work again, kids trying on ski boots again....go to the cashier to pay and then I learn they do not rent ski poles which you have to buy !!!!!. No one advised me during all the time we had spent in that store and to be frank first place ever I see that rent skis without poles. Decided to ask for a full refund of the rental and leave that store,...this is what I call forced sales and zero star customer service. WILL NOT GO BACK...GO ELSE WHERE FOR RENTALS read more

Ski Barn is only concerned with satisfying the customer when the customer is spending money. Not when there is something wrong with the merchandise they purchased and it's over the 30 day return period. I bought a jacket there and washed it. It shrunk and is very uncomfortable to wear skiing. It makes it very difficult to layer underneath. Knowing I was over the 30 day return period I tried to explain to them how uncomfortable the jacket was to wear. I offered to buy another one right then and there and even spend more money to somewhat make up the difference. The manager would not even come out of her office to speak with me. I was told the return policy is what it is and I should try selling the jacket to someone. I am appalled by this stance, given I have been a customer of theirs for over 10 years and have spent a tremendous amount of money there on everything from ski rental equipment to all the gear and clothes needed for my family of 5 to ski. I have always overlooked the snobby sales help and the overpriced apparel because they are a local store and convenient for me to get to, however, I will no longer shop there. Because of their unwillingness to work with a loyal customer, they have lost me to one of the other many ski shops in the area. The president of Ski Barn said in an article that customer satisfaction was a priority for his company. He obviously forgot to pass that mantra to his employees. read more

I ordered a set of snowboard bindings from The Ski Barn. They took a week to arrive even though I paid for 2 day shipping. I opened the box to discover one bindings missing! Called them up and and asked WTF??? They were pretty friendly over the phone, I'll give them credit for that anyway. They said it had been shipped from a different location which was part of the reason for the slow shipping. Also the guy said I got a display model and they had just forgotten to take the other binding off the display shelf. I was not happy about that at all and told him so. I didn't pay for display stuff. If I'm paying full list price it had better be new, untouched items in the box. He offered to let me return it or they could just send out the missing binding. I told them to go ahead and send it out figuring I would get screwed on return shipping if I sent them back. I had emailed the salesman that filled my order and expressed my displeasure with the situation and gave him the opportunity to make things right by giving me a discount and sending the missing binding overnight express....It's been 6 days and no sign of the other binding yet and no word back from the guy either! Very lame! Don't mess with these guys! I only ordered from them because they were the only shop that I could find online that had what I wanted in stock. I'll just do without next time! read more
