I was visiting Santa Fe before skiing the local mountain and then Taos. I ran out of time to repair a deep wound in my ski base before I left home in San Francisco, and these amazing guys did a base weld for me within 3 hours after I dropped my skis off in their expert care. I was so impressed that I brought my sister back the next day to rent skis for our lucky day when Ski Santa Fe received a record 40" in 48 hours. We returned after the shop had closed, but a nice guy stuck around to accept my sister's return WAY after business hours. These guys provide great service, with a smile, and at the most reasonable prices I've seen at any ski shop in the last decade. Most importantly, their team cheerfully went out of their way to do me right, and I appreciate them for it. I can count the number of reviews I've taken the time to read on one hand. But these guys blew me away, which necessitated me not being so lazy and sharing my experience so others can benefit as I did. read more

So I wanted my edges sharpened and my skis waxed. I started to a high end shop to get it done. They wanted me to drop it off for a few days but they were highly rated so . . . On the way there I spotted Ski Tech and dropped in. They took my skis and I went to lunch. After lunch I came back and my skis were already done. They did an excellent job. I check my skis after each day of skiing to see if they need re-done. It is normal to get it re-done after three days skiing. Seven days and counting and they are still in great shape. read more

0 stars, no parking. Yelled at by residential neighbors. Super dull and depressed staff. Have to sign and pay everything online on your phone, no option for any other way. I am not a new skier. Had terrible selection of boots (i got blisters on one foot from a bad boot). And the dude also told us they didnt carry any skis taller than 180 ". Nice! Go somewhere else, the prices are 5$ more at the Santa Fe resort. read more

We came in late December 28th and called to check to see if they had any skis available to rent. The lady on the phone said there were slim pickings. Knowing how busy this time of the year is for rental places, we wanted to make sure not to waste any time going to a place that had no availability. My boyfriend called back a second time and asked the same lady if we came in early, would it be likely to get some rentals. She told my boyfriend it's slim pickings right now, but it depends on how many returns we get in. With that, we thought if we came in as soon as they opened, we would be able to get some rentals. We woke up early and went in as soon as they opened the next day. When we walked in the employees were very nice. They told us they were low on rentals and proceeded to take us to the back for what we believed we were going to get fitted. As we walked to the back, the lady who my boyfriend spoke to on the phone (unfortunately we didn't get her name) comes up to us and asks us if we had a reservation. We looked at each other perplexed, because not once did she say we needed a reservation when we called the day before. We tell her no, and she says that the rentals were going to people who had reservations because there were slim pickings. If we would have known this when we spoke to her on the phone, we would have made arrangements to rent at another place. We will not be wasting our time renting from here in the future. read more

I went into Ski Tech to simply ask if they did season boot rentals for adults (was asking on behalf of my 14 year old son). The person I asked, who I think was the owner, said they didn't. I mentioned in passing that I had called Cottam's, an outfit that has a store in Taos and also half way up the mountain to Ski Santa Fe and they told me they did do season boot retails. When I mentioned this I got an unsolicited tirade about how Cottam's did not do "ski functionality testing" and it was "illegal" and they should be "sued" and that I should never go there. He went on and on bashing Cottam's without my even asking what he thought. It was one of the most unprofessional things I have ever seen in retail and I left with a terrible taste in my mouth and will never go back again. read more

Avoid this place. I wish there were zero stars, becausr that is what this place deserves. They treat customers like idiots and don't take any responsibility for anything. I rented skis for my 4 year old daughter, telling them I'd pay for the newest equipment. The technician told me the boots were brand new. They were not. Judging by the scratches, they looked several years old. When adjusting the boots to the bindings, I made it clear that I didn't want them to pop off easily because that ruins a little kid's experience. We got to the mountain and they popped off every 5 feet. I brought them back the next day, asking for a refund for the next day. They refused. Avoid avoid avoid. read more

I took my ski's in for tuning as I have for several years and they did a great job very quickly. They took good care of my ski's unlike some Santa Fe tuners that will damage the uppers. They also were very fair on the price. This week with Ski Santa Fe opening the upper mountain I was finally able to try out my newly tuned ski's. The tune was perfect for the early conditions. We rented ski equipment on New Year's Day, and interacting with the staff was almost as enjoyable as our day of skiing. These people are knowledgeable, helpful, and joy to do business with. I visited the hole in the wall ski shop over the christmas break. In fact, my entire family rented from this place. Boy was that a mistake! Here is the lowdown... After renting what they referred to as "really old boots" for my family of 10, we drove up to the mountain for a hopefully wonderful day. After about 20 minutes in the boots that we rented from Ski Tech, our feet hurt so bad. Being our first time skiing, we asked Ski Tech to get us a good pair and that's what we got. It was so bad that my 14 year old daughter had to be taken down the mountain because her boot was hurting her ankle and she could not ski anymore. To top it off, while on the mountain my wife put her Ski's among all the other Skis, which were sitting in plane sight and unlocked. She wrapped them up with my son's pair and headed up to grab a bite to eat. When she returned her Skis were gone and she spent the rest of the day looking in for them with no luck. The next day we rented from Alpine which was AWESOME by the way, and headed back up. My wife looked at the list of reports for lost Skis and the list had nothing but "Ski Tech" skis reported missing. (Weird) When we returned to report this to Ski tech, the response from the owner (Chip S. - Who reviewed his own yelp listing - BAHAHAHA!!!!) was accusatory, rude and he actually made my wife cry. I will not go so far as to accuse Ski Tech of being anything more than having a Rude, Uncaring, Unbelievable, Crapy, somewhat Ruthless owner who cares about nothing more than Money. I feel like this is a true statement because as I was talking to the owner explain what happened to my wife and being accused of negligence on my part, I asked if we could check out another pair for free so that she could enjoy the remained of her vacation (At this point, she had left the store crying by the way) and his response was "This is the busy season and I have nothing to loan out! You can however rent another pair if you want.". That seemed silly to me because he could not loan me a pair but he could rent me one. What ever you do, rent from anywhere but here. Teach these guys that this is America and people have options! read more

I will start by saying that this review is of the ownership/management, rather than their services. However, sometimes, especially when we have other options, we choose a business based off of other presence, approach, and care for the community. Personally, I get a lot out of reading bad reviews, because they can be pretty revealing about general practices and aspects I might otherwise overlook. That being said, Ski Tech...and so very many businesses in Santa Fe... and the United States, do not have the benefit of ample parking. After 3 trips around the block and being 20 minutes late to a holiday staff party, I found 1 of several city parking spots in front of Ski Tech. I knew it was city parking because there were 2 clearly marked green signs with arrows pointing toward each other that said "One-hour parking 7am - 7pm" (it was 5:57pm at the moment). On the other side of the street there was a red sign marked as residential parking. Along with the street signs, I noticed a some guy staring at me through the passenger window, by the front door of Ski Tech. He even crouched down and placed his hand above his brow to get a closer look. I cautiously got out of the car, and he asked if I was going to the nearby restaurant. At this point, I figured he's potentially a dangerous dude or potentially a dude who is angry about the lack of available parking to serve his business. I said yes, and he immediately told me I needed to move the vehicle, stating that I was "not in a city parking spot". I pointed out the signs, and he said, "You're not going to be in there for just an hour" (remember it's 5:57pm) and "What you didn't notice were those signs", pointing to the red residential, permit only parking sign on the other side of the street, about 100/+ ft away. I asked if he was the owner/manager of Ski Tech, and he said, "yes". I empathized about the frustrations of lack of parking, especially during the holidays, and he took out his phone and told me he was "calling them to have the car ticketed and towed". He said, "I've seen them do it before. I wouldn't leave it there if I were you". I then stated that it sounds like his frustrations should be aired with the restaurant or city, rather than me. He said, "I will go after anyone who parks here". I called non-emergency police to file a brief report and verify my parking, then attended the holiday party. When I got out of the event, I scanned the vehicle for damage and none was evident...other than a super, obnoxious and childish, "WARNING" sticker firmly applied on the car window. There was an X in the box next to "Unauthorized Parking". All other identifying information like "Date"/"Time"/Issued "By" were left blank. This sticker was obviously fake, hence the obnoxious and childish description. I called the police again, to ensure that they didn't actually put the sticker on the window, and to say that I know it's not anything they need to be worrying about, unless they receive multiple complaints. In the end, I say this to Ski Tech...please have an ounce of self-awareness when you have some public presence, and don't be aggressive and creepy with people. Also, we all know it's December 18th, and there's no snow in Santa Fe, so check yourself for projecting your frustrations onto others because business is slow...it's not because of parking. And, if it is indeed a parking issue, your location is the problem. Finally, you can harass folk and put as many stickers on peoples' cars as you want (within the limits of the city parking spaces in front of your business, I assume...), but in the end, you are left with complaints about your etiquette and appropriateness. It has a much longer lasting effect on a business than an intentionally irritating sticker on a car window. I guess I should state that I have no "proof" that you are the sticker culprit, but I am sure you can see how it seems obvious. Good tidings to you, Ski Tech... read more

My girlfriend and I went in to rent skis with really no expectations or experience, and were very pleased with the level of service we received. Even though they were busy, they were able to immediately help us and provide useful suggestions with regards to the equipment. I would certainly reccomend them to anyone in need of renting skis. As a side, note, when we got up to the mountain to go skiing, the lines for renting equipment were inordinately long, and working with Ski-Tech was vastly superior to waiting in line up on the mountain. read more

The absolute worst in customer service and equipment. They will rent you equipment that should have been discarded years ago and when this equipment fails, they'll tell you it is your fault and if you had any problems with the equipment they would gladly change it out for you (which means coming down off the mountain, replacing and going back up the mountain -- a two hour, minimum, journey). In short, you are better off renting elsewhere. read more
