I can't not rave enough about how amazing they are at this Bakery. It's been my go to place for I hate to admit how many years. They recently did two specialty cakes for me and I can't get over how well in detail, taste and presentation these cakes were. I called over the phone and it was like they had seen my same vision. I do like frosting...he loves it..but even more important than that - we BOTH HATE FONDANT....so when we found this beautiful bakery that specialized in buttercream cakes (his favorite of all frostings) it was love at first taste. The true test though? My Maid of Honor pretty much hates all cake, the density, weight and at times over sweetness. We took her to the cake tasting since we felt that she would make a good cake judge esp. since hubbie and I can (and will) eat anything and everything. The verdict? SHE NOW LOVES CAKE. Well, Skiff's at least. All the flavors are ON POINT! But for a wedding, I honestly think their champagne icing is A MUST. There is nothing quite like it. They fulfilled our wedding cake dreams. We did a 3 tier, 3 flavored cake...soooo delicious...once people had their first slice and found out there were more flavors, they started asking for more. The decorations were EXACTLY to our specifications and they collab-ed so perfectly with our florist for a fresh, natural and rustic look. I went into the shop about 2 different times to talk cake and drop off some decor (i.e., a topper I specially ordered) and each time I HAD to cheat on my bride diet and snag some goodies. Honestly one of the best dessert spots. I don't like cupcakes but I can eat like 5 of theirs...well more like devour/inhale. Their flavors are so wonderful. The staff are sweet. Skiff's just made my wedding cake on 9/15/2013 & it was delicious AND beautiful! I showed Steve a picture of what I wanted & they made it PERFECT! I could not have asked for more. My fiance & I brought 2 people to our tasting & they were very welcoming & answered all questions very courteously & professionally. It was very important to us to have the best of BOTH worlds-a cake that tasted as amazing as it looked. And WOW! I went to Skiff's just four days before I needed a special order cake, after the plans I had to order a cake for my parents' 50th anniversary fell through. The clerk was extremely helpful, even after she said they usually require more time for a special order. She said they would get it done for me. I picked out a few cupcakes while I was there as well so I would know what to expect as far as how good the cake would be. All of them were delicious. When I returned to pick up the cake, it was perfect!! It was beautifully done and far exceeded my expectations. The cake was a great success at our special family celebration. I again picked up a few more cupcakes to take to work, after I raved to my co-workers how yummy they were.I highly recommend them for their great customer service and outstanding cakes and cupcakes. I've had desserts and cakes from Skiff's before and have been pleased in the past which is why I wanted them to make my wedding cake. The taste testing was great and i was even more confident with them. They brought our cake in on the wedding day with no trouble as far as I know. When we cut the cake and started eating it, it tasted exactly as I pictured but the filling was not the one I had asked for. I asked for a champagne filling but the filling in our cake tasted and looked almost like lemon. I didn't have much time to eat a whole slice so it doesn't bother me too much but I am a little bummed out that I didn't entirely get what I paid for. Please make sure if going with Skiff's that you double check your order. Other than that they were great to work with! read more

After having a nightmare experience cake tasting with Joeleen at A Sweet Design in Granada Hills, my husband and I were relieved to meet Mr. and Mrs. Skaggs at Skiff's Cakes in Simi Valley. My parents joined us for the cake tasting, and we were incredibly impressed not only with the customer service but the taste of the cakes as well. We loved the flavors so much to the point that we had a difficult time making a decision. We ended up getting a four tiered wedding cake and chose a different flavor combination for each tier. Additionally, we gave Mrs. Skaggs a photo of the cake design we wanted, and she was able to successfully recreate it for our wedding. Another bonus of Skiff's Cakes is that they only required a $50 deposit. My suggestions for improvement include waiving a delivery fee for weddings that are in close proximity to the bakery shop, providing pricing information on their website, and accepting credit card payments via telephone or online. Overall, my husband and I would highly recommend Skiff's Cakes. Our guests raved about our wedding cake. We had leftovers and got to eat the cake days after the wedding, and it still tasted delicious. Also, instead of keeping the top of the cake for a year in our freezer, they recommended we place an order right before our 1 year anniversary to have the freshest cake ever for our special celebration. Our 1 year wedding anniversary is quickly approaching, and we cannot wait to place an order. It will be so nice to reminisce about one of the happiest days in our lives AND enjoy delicious cake at the same time! read more

Our cake was on time, made to our requests, and was incredibly delicious. If you ask me and my (now) wife, go with the white cake, and the rum custard or fudge filling, and butter cream frosting. Skiffs are amazing. They have set the bar for cakes as far as I'm concerned. The things they have been able to accomplish for me with my children's birthday cakes, my own wedding cake, and cakes for a multitude of other events has been amazing. Everything from a sheet cake made to look like a swimming pool including a pool deck and swimmers in the pool swimming and lounging on chairs outside of the pool to a spot on logo for my corporate event. Plus they taste amazing and the family that owns it are great people. You're crazy to give them anything less than 5 stars I've been going there since 2002 and they have never let me down.
