First time doing a hydrafacial and I am so glad I decided to go to Skin Deep located at 220 Commercial Dr # D, Harker Heights, TX 76548. My esthetician that did my facial was Katrina. She is an extremely awesome & knowledgable esthetician. She educated me on the best foods to eat to keep my skin young and healthy. As for the procedure, I went with the Hydrafacial Refresh for my first time. It's $145+ and lasts up to one hour. This treatment included cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection. Now that I got a feel of what being in heaven is like, I'm so sad that I didn't go sooner. My face and skin feels overall very soft, hydrated and rejuvenated. Everything about this facial was soothing, moisturizing and incredibly amazing. If you're looking for a place to rejuvenate your skin, I recommend going to Katrina at Skin Deep in Harker Heights. It was my first time and I was able to book an appointment the same day. Never been here before and I am thankful that I did! I first called Monday asking around cuz I knew many salons weren't open & they were kind enough to take me in as a walk-in. They had stylist on call and that was nice of them. I was not able to follow through that day, but I came in Wednesday. Amanda was the one who cut my hair and took off about 8 inches. I had pretty long hair and wanted an angle bob. Not really sure of the actual terminology for what I have. I showed her a picture and she cut it exactly the way I wanted. I feel weird being around new people since having children because I don't get to socialize because I'm busy taking care of my kids... But she was very accommodating and made me feel comfortable. She adequately steamed to perform extractions and exfoliated using a spin brush. My pores shrunk and my skin looks very smooth and healthy. She made the experience a relaxing one. She was also informative when suggesting services and recommendations for skin care. She wasn't pushy about peddling expensive products like other spas do which I liked a lot. Very conveniently located for Killeen residents and they offer a wide range of other clinical skincare services which are helpful for maturing skin. I would just say, buyer beware. I was bought a package for 4.5 hours of services. I had been before and loved it. This time it was completely opposite. I checked in at 1245 for a 1 start time sat in a room tell past 1 then was taken to get dressed and get started for a sugar scrub then on to a hot stone and for both which should have been two hours I was done in 1 I was then supposed to get an hour facial plus an additional service nope they combined and rushed them. Then I was supposed to get lunch that now they don't provide so I got some stale crackers and the drink I was supposed to get never showed up. I was just sitting there rushed and annoyed. I tried to reach out to them and express my frustration and they just chocked it up to how things are now and sorry it was different and more rushed but they didn't see an issue with it. I would recommend spending your time somewhere who values it and makes sure they do what you purchase and honor it. Not a customer fault you changed your package you stilll need to honor what you sold. Very unprofessional. read more

I got a prenatal massage at 36 weeks pregnant, and out of all the massage experiences I have had, this ranks near the bottom of the list. The spa itself is nice, and the staff is very friendly. My massage was scheduled for 10am, and I was told when I made the appointment to show up at 9:45 to do some paper since it was my first time there. So I show up at 9:45, the doors are locked, and no one answers. I waited in my car until 10. At that time the doors were still locked and I had to call someone to let me in. So by the time I get in and do paperwork and get back to the room it's almost 10:20. The massage I paid for was supposed to be 60 minutes. Despite getting a late start, it was finished and I was walking out the door at 11. So I definitely did not receive the full time paid for. Now for the actual massage. My therapist was and she was okay at best. The only reason I am giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 is because I appreciated the deep pressure she used. I left with my tense neck and shoulders feeling better. That being said, I don't have much else positive to say. Before (and during) the massage she didn't ask me a single question. Nothing about preferences, places to focus, dislikes, pain, etc. Not that I want to have a long conversation with my therapist, but checking in with your client seems like something important, especially being 36 weeks pregnant. I struggled to be comfortable throughouthe massage. It was burning up in the room, and I had to ask to be uncovered because I was literally sweating. I also was lying flat on my back for too long, which is not comfortable (or particularly safe) for a pregnant woman. These are my biggest complaints, however. At the end of the massage, my therapist rubbed oil all over my face! She then used a wet towel to wipe it off, completely messing up my makeup. How weird! I would have asked her not to do it, but i had no idea it was coming. This massage was not supposed to include a facial or anything like that. I've never had a therapist do that before. I had to go out and run errands after that with my makeup looking terrible, so that was annoying. And here's the worst part. Her fingernails were WAY too long!! She was scratching me the whole time! She even broke skin on the palm of my hand. Completely unprofessional and gross. A massage therapist should NOT have nails long enough to scratch you! The cost of the massage was $85. It is on the steeper end of what I've paid for a massage, but not totally unreasonable if the services are worth it. To me, it was absolutely not worth the price. This is the first time I did not tip after a massage because I just could not justify paying any more for that disappointment. If I need another massage, prenatal or otherwise, I will go somewhere else. If I ever do choose to go back to this spa, I will certainly request a different therapist. read more

I am very particular about my hair and I don't trust just anyone. Heather has been doing my hair since I first moved to Killeen and she is AMAZING!!!! She is an extremely talented colorist & stylest among other things. She adapts to every customers needs and is maticulase with everything she does, making sure the cut, color and style are perfect. Becca Korte is the owner and she is OUTSTANDING as well!! She is extremely knowledgeable about any and everything skin related. She has done multiple peels, facials, hydra facials and other procedures for me and I've been extremely happy with the results. The spa also carries their own line of skin care products and glo minerals cosmedics. Both of which is use daily with great results. The spa and salon are extremely clean, beautiful and very relaxing. The staff is very knowledgeable, I've had my nails, pedicures, multiple facial treatments and massages done here. I've also used the infared sauna and had wraps done, all wish amazing results. I love that they have a doctor come in that offers Botox and Juvederm at a good price. I have been to multiple spas, salons and skin care experts all over the country and Skin Deep is by far the best! They are very reasonably price for a spa, clinical skin care and salon. You really do get more than you pay for with them. Even though I've moved 9hrs away I will be still be purchasing their skin care line and having it mailed to me (which they offer and do all the time). I had a long week and wanted a massage. I called Friday afternoon and was scheduled for Saturday. Location is convenient and parking is right out front. I was quickly checked in since they had two people working at desk. The waiting area is nice with spa type water pitcher. I was also offered tea or coffee. I use to go here regularly to see Jordan, but my last visit felt rushed and I went home and had to completely redo my hair because my roots were still wet after having it blow dried by two people at the same time and a flat iron following right after. My hair is thick and naturally curly, but I've never needed two people at once. It's decent/okay I'd say not somewhere I recommend for people with my hair type, so I stopped going because I'm not gonna pay over 50$ just to have to go home and do it myself again. read more

In my opinion, integrity is everything. As a retired cosmetologist, I know that you have to be careful to whom you entrust your face for permanent make-up. I wanted to get permanent lip color. Fortunately Skin Deep Salon and Spa is close to my home. I have some health issues and could have made a very painful mistake. They put my comfort and well-being ahead of their profit margin. I have recently moved here from North Texas so I was really excited to find a salon and spa near my home. I started with the request for a color on my hair. The salon I went to previously removed the color I had at that time because it was too dark. The lady there proceeded to keep it light but made it red. I kept requesting a "light brown" so of course I was sick. That is the main reason I was so happy to find this salon. I went to my first visit with the hairdresser. She was very nice. She asked me how I wore my hair and I told her. I brought in a Loreal color that I wanted color matched. (I am currently unable to color my own hair,) When I looked up it was very dark. A pretty color but not at all what I requested. She told me it would fade. That surprised me since this was a salon color and not something off the shelf but I said okay. She also cut my hair. I didn't request that. She gave me a horrible haircut that a month later I am still unable to style. After three weeks the color still was dark, the color did not fade so I called. The lady was kind and told me she would correct it. I went in and again had the color stripped. Guess what...when I walked out I had light RED hair. Funny! I have certainly had bad haircuts before but getting the color right at a salon has not been a problem until now. She told me she suggested I continue to use the store bought color because she tried to match it and I still wasn't happy. Okay.... I am okay with that and would have been using it if I could use my left arm. For that disaster I was charged $120 for a bad color job and a bad haircut. We left on good terms as I felt she just couldn't do what I asked. I actually felt sorry for her. I was also interested in getting permanent makeup for my brows. Since I have had these medical problems I have difficulty applying makeup. I will not have use of my arm for approximately six weeks after my operation. It paid $28 for a consultation the same day of the initial hair color incident. After consulting with the esthetician/owner I decided to go ahead. We scheduled another day the same week. That required a $100 deposit and another $200 the day of the procedure. I agreed. The procedure went well. When I returned for the 1 month "correction" I mentioned that the right eyebrow was lower than the left. She agreed and blamed it on "my anatomy". I am well aware of imperfections in anatomy, When I do my make up I try to apply it so my anatomical imperfections don't show. She tried to increase my brow size by three or more times. I told her I didn't like that . Her response was that you don't just want a straight line. Guess what? Straight line and uneven brows, and a flaw from the first visit she didn't correct. I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have been to Skin Deep a couple of times for hydrafacials (AMAZING by the way) and decided this would be the perfect, relaxing and fabulous place for my bridal party to get their hair and makeup done. The wonderful hairstylists opened up early for us and the two began working on us six women! We had two hairstylists, two makeup artists and the lovely front desk ladies. They had a plan and rotation set-up to be the most efficient they could. Everything turned out beautifully and our airbrush makeup combo was perfect as well. Our ladies looked gorgeous! This was my first time here. I needed a haircut this week so I just looked at a few places on Yelp and choose this one. I called Monday and was able to get an appointment the very next day! I'm happy with the hours they have because I work until 5 everyday and a lot of places close before that. My appointment started on time. My hair stylist was Jordan she did a great job. She was very friendly and so was the rest of the staff there. I love love love my hair. Even though all I had done was a trim and a deep condition (which was amazing and my hair feels great). She also curled my hair and it looks so pretty like this so now I'm going to curl it more often! I def would recommend this place!!! My husband purchased the Essentials Package for me for my birthday. I was so excited. The facial was amazing and the massage was great EXCEPT for the ceiling fans going full blast in the room. The pedicure and manicure were a sad joke. Fast, sloppy and the rooms were dirty. There was nail dust on the manicure table. They served my lunch to me on a wooden tray during my pedicure. Trying to eat, balance the tray and enjoy my pedicure was impossible. I left angry and disappointed and will not return. Anything but a spa experience. read more

I booked an appointment a month in advance for a couples massage. It was confirmed three times to include the day before. I requested the services with Taffy and after we checked in, I confirmed my massage would be with Taffy. After sitting down in the quiet room, Taffy takes another couple back to do their massage during the time my husband and I are scheduled for our massage. I waited and then inquired with the front desk if she was running behind. The employee proceeds to tell me my massage would be done by someone else. Seriously!? When I spoke to the owner she then explains the other couple was scheduled for a massage, and after arrival the husband did not feel comfortable having a male masseuse. Without any regard to my request, I basically had to settle for what they wanted. I have gone to this salon on and off for over ten years. I guess planning ahead for services and loyalty don't count these days. Since I work in customer service I will steer everyone clear of this place and will never go there again. read more

I have been to Skin Deep several times over the past four years, and my last visit was, indeed, my last. I booked The Essentials Package (a Swedish Massage, a facial, a mani/pedi, and lunch) and went in on a Tuesday, which may have been my problem. Perhaps they have better service in the afternoon hours and on Saturdays? When I first arrived, the girl at the desk showed me where everything was, how to get ready, and where to leave my things. This was right when the spa opened for the day, and there were still towels, robes, etc. in the hamper in the bathroom/changing room from the day before. I expect a spa to wash their towels at the end of the day or at least have employees get there an hour early to spruce up for clients. After changing into my robe (since I had multiple treatments) I went into a quiet room and waited for the Massage Therapist. I was thirsty and went to look at the tea, but there was very little water in the tea kettle (it also looked like it was left over from the day before), and there was no cold water available either. Then I went to my massage, and the girl was very nice, but just simply not as good as others I have had work on me, even at Skin Deep. I even told her where I was tight, and she didn't really pay them any special attention. From there, I went back to the quiet room where there was still no water (extremely strange since at most spas that I have been to there is water everywhere, and immediately after a massage the Massage Therapist usually greets you with a glass since you are supposed to flush out the toxins), and then the girl who had met me at the front desk and showed me around told me that she would be giving me my facial. That was odd. I expect that when someone tells me what will be going on during my visit, they might mention that they will be performing one of the services. I started to question if she was adequately trained to give a facial, since I assumed she was just a clerk from the front desk. During the facial, she did not once tell me what she was going to be putting on my face, or what it does. I had to ask. Again, something I have never experienced before anywhere else. After the facial I went to change back into my clothes and then went for my manicure. Again, no one seemed to clean up the night before. There were obviously bottles of nail polish and other equipment out from the previous day where they didn't belong. This is just pure laziness. Preschoolers can clean up better than that, and it only takes five minutes. After that, I finally went up to the front room for my pedicure, where I was brought my lunch. What a disappointment! The last time I was there for the same package it was pretty much the same meal, so I knew it would be tiny and not that great, but it was even worse this time. I was given a glass of water (the first glass I had had all day and was there for about 3-4 hours), a few generic Saltine crackers, salad that was from a bag, dressing that was most likely squeezed from a bottle of Kraft, and chicken pieces that were completely overcooked and bone dry in a microwave. I expect a lot better quality from a spa; not over processed food that has been nuked beyond edibility. At a spa I expect to be given healthy, nutritious food. I don't expect them to have a full kitchen in the back, but surely some extra effort can be made. Maybe some whole wheat/grain crackers, some pieces of cheese, other vegetables? In short, I feel that the ladies that I was with were just young, and inexperienced. They were probably in their early 20s, if that, which is not a problem in and of itself. The problem is that they lacked professionalism. They did not go above and beyond; they did the bare minimum. The entire staff needs to look at its practices and see what can be improved upon. Perhaps the people performing services need more training on what they are responsible for after they are done with clients for the day. Perhaps they need more professional training or should seek to improve their skills at a class in Austin or Dallas. Perhaps the management knows nothing of this and the spa is getting a bad reputation under their radar. I hope that this review is constructive, and that changes are implemented. Skin Deep used to be "the" spa to go to in the area, but unfortunately I am going to have to look elsewhere. read more

I was not happy with this salon's practices. I was happy with my facials and manicures, however I didn't like that they would try to set up my appointments with different people. When you go to a salon and see one particular person it's because you like them. Three times when re-booking they would set me up without even openly stating that they were booking me under a different girl than the one I prefer. fter they did it once, I always asked before I left who I was being booked under. Unfortunately, they did it when my manicurist was right around the corner and heard that I was being re-booked with someone else. She ended up quitting on the spot because they were repeatedly giving her clients to the other manicurist. That practice disrespects the client and their employee. The owner Becca also makes their employees sign a non compete contract which forbids them from even working for a different salon locally. That is not ethical. You should not prevent someone from being able to work. It's common practice to have a contract where you can't open your own salon within a certain distance, but not prevent them from finding another job with a different salon. Bad all around practice which I do not support. Find a different salon who treats their employees and clients with respect. read more

Made an appointment and visited this salon as a Valentine's Day outing for myself and my "date." We chose the salon for its upscale atmosphere and intimate nail spa area where you share a bench while getting your toes done. In the waiting room we found all the refreshments empty and although the staff filtered in and out of the room no one replenished the drinks or coffee. We were particularly parched so this was an inconvenience but we didn't think too much of it. When my manicurist came to get me, I asked if my "date" would be joining me and she said no, that they did not have enough room. For a Valentine's Day spa retreat I was very disappointed and she said there was nothing she could do, basically wished us better luck next time and ushered us out the door. My "date" was my mother who drove 3 hours from Dallas to join me for a Valentine's Day out and I was beyond embarrassed. As I had booked these appointments in advance, at this point all other salons were booked for the day and we ended up going straight home. When I emailed and FB messaged the salon in regards to my bad experience I never received a response which furthered idea that this salon is just not up to par. I will not recommend this salon to anyone. Very very disappointed in their customer service and attitude towards clients. Zero stars. read more
