I tend to swing into gatekeeper mode when it comes to my fervent favorites, lest my favorite Atlanta people and places become too booked for me to fully enjoy them afterwards. But Shirin is far too good a secret to keep to myself. I come from the land of Korean skincare, where different serums, lotions, wraps, and even facial massages are used to coax one's skin toward optimal radiance. It's been a journey to find anyone here in Atlanta who could rival that level of attention and care, but Skin Deep is the closest I've found. The clinic doesn't look like much at first sight. It's a single room in a basement medical office with a dark waiting room. But don't let first looks underestimate the service you get. The small space is outfitted with high quality skincare (I spotted a lot of Dermologica) and quite a few skin-luxuriating machines I've never acquainted with a normal skincare treatment. Before your treatment, you'll change into a robe, lie down atop an unbelievably comfortable memory foam chair, and sit back while Shirin performs her magic. Over the course of an hour, I had all kinds of steamed wraps, washes, and lotions conducted on my face. I wish I could remember them all, but the bald truth is that I completely fell asleep at one point because her hands were so soothing and comforting. It also helps that Shirin is an incredibly earnest and genuine human being, and a joy to pass time with. I'm terribly torn when it comes to reviews like these. On the one hand, Shrin is an indubitably skilled esthetician, who is able to deftly customize treatments according to the client in the chair. She also provided a facial that produced some of the most immediate results I've ever experienced. If I could leave Shirin a 10/10 I would! I take reviews seriously so here is my honest review! If you're looking for frills and a spa experience, this isn't for you. But if you are looking for a no fluff, true skincare specialist who knows her stuff and will shoot you straight instead of try to just sell you on everything, Shirin is your girl! I have had many a facial and esthetician in my life. I have been able to spend money on expensive laser treatments and all sorts of things in the past to battle my cystic acne. That changed before the pandemic and obviously during. I booked with Shirin through class pass to use my credits before cancelling. Her location was convenient and my skin was a mess. Oily, congested, dehydrated, irritated, and truly starting to look like it was aging. I don't have cystic acne anymore and I use a high end, very expensive skincare regimen and was extremely frustrated with my skin over the last 6 months. Especially because I can't afford the expensive lasers right now and regular facials never did much for me in the past. Shirin started by asking me what I wanted to accomplish in our appointment. I'm thinking all the chemical and physical exfoliation she can offer!! She was super honest about what my class pass got me and was able to explain prices of the add ons I would benefit from to get what I was looking for outcome wise. After really, and I mean really cleansing my skin she evaluated my skin. Her recommendation was to change our course of treatment. Update to review in response to Shirin's comments: Her response is false. I communicated with her on my regimen and she told me to stop the tretinoin, which I did. I was also using hydroquinone, which you knew about. I'll add that since this incident, I have had multiple peels with using hydroquinone. It has not been an issue. The issue is her technique and knowledge about chemical peels and lack of knowledge on how to triage a burn. During my ordeal, she had me google whether hydroquinone was compatible with chemical peels shown she was fanning my face. She should not be allowed to administer a peel. read more

On a quest to find the best facial, I reached out to Yelp for reviews. How could it possibly true be true that Shirin would give a facial that would merit such accolades? Well let me tell you, everything is true. This is not a five-star facial, but a ten-star facial. I am so lucky to live in the Atlanta area so that I can regularly take advantage of her expertise and relaxation techniques. I have had too many facials over the years to count, and none has come close to what this sweet, professional aesthetician offers. My complaint among other places is that I feel like the aesthetician quickly goes through the process, just putting products on my face. I can do that at home! Sometimes they have put masks on me and then leave the room. Shirin never leaves the room, offering a fabulous scalp massage, arm and upper body massage, and on my visit, foot reflexology since I added that on. I would highly recommend that add on. My skin has never looked so good! I am a big fan of dermaplane, and after a lovely cleansing, Shirin began with that. I don't know the order in which she worked on me with different products to address my skin's needs, and I know I am leaving some out. However, some of the processes that she used include an exfoliater, a gentle peel, a mask, a process that uses light on my face --I know I sound ridiculous because I am describing these wrong! Long story short I've been here 5 times and it will be my last. I was very pleased after my first visit with my results & the time she took for the facial.. although I felt uncomfortable when I had added the LED light which takes an extra 30min she expressed she would have to tell her next client she was running 30 min late. WELL that client was already in the parking lot ready for her facial and had traveled all the way from New York. The client was VERY VERY upset bc shirin was so adamant about the client being on time. SHIRIN went so far as telling me the clients name.. that she was asain, sending her multiple texts that she revealed to me & followed by asking me to text this client "sorry & that it was basically MY fault bc I asked for the LED light half way thru my facial.. but she'd do that for any client that wanted an add on" She continued with talking crap about client(s) and complaining, ETC! then proceeded to ask me to see if the asain was actually in the parking lot in her car waiting (shirin literally told me she "hoped" the client left) and to text her if the client was waiting. All though I was uncomfortable, I was pleased w/ my results I figured I'd give her another shot in which I did 2 more times & she was just as unprofessional & client Confidentiality does NOT exist in the way she does business!!!!!!!! It only got worse from there when I canceled an appt last minute. She proceeded to send me paragraph, long, rude and VERY mean, VERY unprofessional text messages!?!? (NOTE: I tip this lady 35% EVERYTIME) expressing she never wanted to come back as a client and I waste her time ETC!!!! so I could only imagine the words she had to say about me to OTHER clients after that! In summary not only has she shown text messages from other clients.. she has also admitted when she is irritated/frustrated with clients that cancel appts or show up late she WILL not do her best & use the cheaper products on there faces!! Seriously!?!?!? WTF! Not only IF that is what you do how is that the littlest bit of professionalism!? I made the decision that there is by far way too many good facial programs in ATL to deal with her & try to trust someone so unprofessional with my face & it's sad bc she does give you results but also a headache. The absolute WORST facial I've ever received in life. Way too abrasive (the scrubbing was endless), way too many chemicals and exfoliants were applied. My experience is valid and I don't appreciate a business owner that berates me because i wrote a review of their poor customer service. Original review: This review is based solely on the customer service as I did not actually receive any services. I was really taken aback by the fact that someone would try and talk you out of using their services when you call to inquire about booking an appointment. Im not a novice, I've been getting facials monthly for the past 3 years with the exception of missing a few months during pregnancy. I know that the new acne I have is primarily from my hormones (recently had a baby) and I already use a medical grade cleansing line. However, I felt like I was being talked down to and also being scolded for my food choices before I even had a chance to explain that i drink almost a gallon of water per day and eat mostly meats and veggies since I'm working on getting rid of the baby weight. I was given a list of things that could be causing my acne and referred to a dermatologist without an in person consultation or even any photos being sent. Unfortunately, I was kind of in a pinch and she had an opening so i reluctantly booked a facial knowing that this was not my forever facial provider. Honestly - one of the worst facials I've had in my life. Do not go here if you have less than perfect skin or a lot of imperfections. My end goal was for her to just remove all the blackheads and Whitehead's as most facial experts do. She insisted I get hair removal on my face - which I declined. I just wanted her to do a normal facial. Long story short she ended up doing the "extra" hair removal without taking out any evident blackheads at "no cost". I didn't ask for that. I ended up going up to steam and pop evident black heads. On top of that - she tried to pressure me to purchase a skin care product at the end "because she did the hair removal for free." Not only did she not do what I asked her to do but she also tried to tempt me to buy her extra products. When I refused. She was upset and said she had to go home aka you need to leave. I would never come here again. I tipped her because I felt bad but I do not recommend her unless you already have decent or amazing skin. Update: Since the owner feels the need to discredit my review, let me add some more details. No it was NOT my first facial- I told you I haven't gotten a facial in some months. Second, you just did the microblading without even telling me and then told me about it afterwards. Then you asked me to buy your products as compensation for the "favor" you did for me that I asked you NOT to do. Your unprofessionalism and tenacity to alter the truth shows a lot about your business. I get facials now elsewhere and have never heard any complaints about my skin which is all you did when I was there. No one wants to hear that.
