I'm hoping that my relationship with Skin Essentials will be a fruitful one! It started off as such! After purchasing a recent Groupon for laser hair removal treatments, I went for my first appointment this afternoon. As a newbie to this method, I was a bit nervous and curious about what to expect. I opted to get my underarms done and was assured by the receptionist (and technician!) that it will be completely worth it in the end. Apparently I'll want to wear tank tops all the time once I'm done! The interior of this business is well decorated, comforting, and exudes the quality of a spa. While I waited for my appointment, I sat on a plush red couch, surrounded by the smell of scented candles, and drawn to the Keurig coffees and teas available. My appointment was actually later in the day than I had originally made it for. I was called the day before and informed that a piece needed to be replaced on the laser machine and that they needed to reschedule with me. After much apologizing, I received an appointment later in the day and was told I'd be called in the morning to inform me of the progress of their fix. I received my call today and drove on over. For having had to reschedule, my wait was very quick. She brought me in the treatment room, explained the whole process, gave me a chance to ask any questions I had, and was very attuned to my needs during the entire procedure. I have to say. . . hair follicles certainly do not go out without a fight! I can't say that the procedure was comfortable, but the staff do their best to decrease your discomfort. I was given stress balls to squeeze (which at first reminded me of the "here bite on this so I can chop off your leg" type medicine of the distant past) and had a blast of cold air on my skin during the procedure to take the edge off. The technician did a good job talking to me throughout which also helped distract me from the needle-like pain of the laser. Had I needed her to stop at any time, she was more than willing to do so to give me a break. The actual procedure took less than 15 minutes and I was truly in and out of the office. I was given post care instructions and encouraged to call if I had any further questions or concerns. While I'm not looking forward to the procedure again, I'm definitely looking forward to the results. I'll have to update a long time from now when all six sessions are complete to review the results! read more

This place is a good example of "too big for your britches." They use a special kind of laser - they say its top of the line, etc, etc - but it seems to be less effective for hair removal than the typical candela that shoots you in the face. This one requires gel to be applied to you - which is nice and cool - but very messy. Also, they require you to bring in your own anti-inflammation gel and clean your face before arriving - they don't have any themselves. Usually, spas will give you some witch hazel to clean the area and hydrocortisone afterwards. This place recommends both, but doesn't supply them. Donna, the owner, is superficially very nice but not great with customer service. When I asked her about the equipment used, she told me to ask the woman who would be doing the service. I have been going to skin essentials for about two years (on and off) I am on my second service, I have no complaints. I have only done laser hair removal at SE so i can't compare to other locations but i have seen big improvements (not completely gone yet but that just may have to do with me) It is a bit tough to find a time that works but i have never had any big issues, they are always accommodating when they are able. I bought one six visit Groupon for laser hair removal. I saw a slight less growth. Then was asked if I wanted to purchase single visits to see how much more I needed because they couldn't tell me any estimate on how many more visits I needed. I ended up buying another Groupon for six more and I still have the same growth!!! WASTE OF MONEY! read more

I purchased a Groupon for laser hair reduction at Skin Essentials last year. I had previously gone to a place in Cranston that is now out of business. I have loved all of my experiences at Skin Essentials. Donna is fantastic. She has a very calming demeanor. The physical building is also very clean and well-maintained, which I find extremely important. I would definitely return to Skin Essentials for any other procedures! read more

I have nothing but the best of reviews for skin essentials. I too bought the groupon for laser hair removal and opted to have my "lady parts" attended to. Well, yes...It is, in fact, a little awkward to have your hoo-ha prone for all the world to see, but...if you are tempted to get that type of thing done, this is the place! A place of beauty! Seriously. The ladies are so awesome here. I felt so comfortable (even while getting laser hair removal in my bikini region) . They made the experience something I could withstand. Mind you, I've had it done to my underarms 2x (paid for 6 sessions) at another place and won't go back... I got to the spa early for my facial and was so looking forward to a relaxing experience. I sat in the waiting area with my water (since no one offered anything) and listened to the news report murders, fires etc. Yup. they had a tv on with the news playing. that was the most un-spa like experience and will never go back read more

I came in for consultation to have spider veins removed. The receptionist was fairly friendly and very knowledgeable. You can tell that she does get a lot of work done there. They specializes in high quality peels, facials and laser. There is a nurse practitioner on site. The Decour is very nice and inviting. Very nice waiting area and clean but the treatment rooms are fairly small. I would definitely be coming back for more work. I really appreciate how I was treated. read more

Came here for laser removal hair treatment after buying a groupon discount. The person was friendly during the procedure. but they set the laser too high and it burned my upper lip. The burn eventually turned into a pronounced scar in the area. When I brought this issue up with the manager, not only did he refuse to do anything to help alleviate the scar, he also lay blame on me, saying: " oh you must have moved or something and thats why you got that injury." Note that I was very careful to stay still during the procedure. Really not cool for business to not own up to their mistakes. Recommend all prospective clients to stay away from this location. read more

I went here because I had purchased a groupon after reading some decent reviews. I advise you to think twice before wasting your money. If you're looking for a deal, groupon has many other salons offering laser hair removal as well. I have been to 3 other places in different occasions and this is the only place that gives you 7 months to get your 6 sessions done. 2 others never gave me a timeline and one is giving me a year to complete my sessions. It would be different if it was easy to schedule appointments with them but it sucks. They NEVER have weekend or night appointments even if you schedule a month in advance which I needed due to my work schedule. Don't you also ever run late, I was on mineral spring ave once I called to say I was running 5 minutes late and the secretary/laser consultant came out kind of rude saying they had other people scheduled and couldn't run late, that I had to get there soon or I would have to schedule reminding me AGAIN that I only had 7 months to finish my laser and this would likely make me lose one of my sessions. Well, this was my second and last session with them, it's really not worth the stress. That day I ended up waiting 30 minutes and not even an apology, she just went on to say how it worked out that the next client came in a little early. Full of BS is what she was. Mind you my appt was always only like 3 minutes long. Anyways, GO elsewhere. read more

I do not recommend going here for jurverderm. I spent $1000 on 2 syringes that were injected into my face. I ended up with lumps everywhere I was injected and I still had lines. It cost me another $650 to have a dermatologist fix what was done. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Skin Essentials. They are extremely knowledgeable about what services they offer and make you feel as comfortable as possible. I first was intruduced to Skin Essentials by purcahsing a Groupon for Botox and cannot say how pleased I was with Jerry Dornhecker, MS, RNP-BC who administered the services. I have had this procedure many times but have not had someone explain to me all the muscles in your face area that can be injected with Boxtox and what results can be achieved. I am totally a solid customer of Skin Essentials and look forward to new and upcoming procedures they have to offer. read more
