Definitely not a soul-less corporate franchise (so common in Arizona), but instead a local business with heart and soul. I found this gem of a studio via Living Social and Yelp. I am quite grateful. I was nervous getting my first dermaplane treatment, but after talking with Michelle, the owner, I felt much more comfortable. She really asked a lot of questions about my skin (which absolutely hates the desert dry air). I felt confident that she really 'got' my sensitive skin, she really listened to my issues and concerns and then stated she needed to know more before starting the treatment. I loved it!! My face is smooth and really has a glow to it and my peach fuzz is also gone. She also recommended a serum for my dry as hell skin, and because the product has no return policy (which she stated she didn't favor), she told me that she loves the product so much that if I didn't like it; she'd buy it back from me! Started my day out with a doctors appt. They made me run late to my eyelash session at SkinGloStudio. Which in turn looked bad on my part. Reasoning for coming here as a new client was to replace an existing tech. There were a few misleading problems when I showed up. 1st: online, it did not show any price for eyelash removals, so I set it as an appt with the other appt for my groupon full set session. They said it would cost $30. Not okay with me at all. Terrible marketing and a way to trick a paying customer! 2nd, I was completely unaware of a 20% gratuity being automatically added on to my session w/o my knowledge bedore I booked. Shylah did my facial. I have to admit when I see all five star reviews for a place it makes me suspicious but I'm a suspicious person by nature so maybe that's it. In any case, my facial was amazing. I felt completely relaxed and could have taken a nap after! She did everything I want from a facial. I just laid there and tried to clear my mind as she did her work, massaging my scalp, my shoulders, arms, down to my fingertips. I was really impressed. She put a grape smelling mask on my face that she said was like a little pac man eating my dead skin cells. After my facial, I really felt like I could see a difference! Plus, I love the hot towels! It's one of my favorite parts of the experience. They have little packages one can buy giving a discount if you buy three or six facials at a time. I tried Skin Glo Studio through a Groupon as my normal girl who does my facials has been very ill. I was extremely disappointed, had I not been getting monthly facials I don't think I would have known how bad this facial was. The Groupon said it was for a TCA anti-aging facial but when I got there I was told that was an old Groupon and that the enzyme was better and that the TCA I purchased and drove all that way to get was very superficial anyway. So, since Michelle didn't seem to want to provide that I went with her enzyme facial. Also included was a micro-derm. Now, when I get my monthly dermabrasion my gal uses a fine tool and sections off my entire face to ensure she gets all of my facial skin and it takes her about 30minutes to complete just the derm. Michelle used something large and only did my t-zone and was rough on my skin and hurried. She was done in about 5-10minutes. The rest of the time was spent massaging my arms, upper chest and putting stuff on my face. Worst facial I have ever had and very bad technique. I don't recommend this place at all. read more
