I love this place. When you walk in, all the hustle and bustle of LA just disappear. They have a very open waiting area with a large assortment of drinks, small snacks, and tons of magazines. The ambiance is very nice at this place, a very zen environment. The facials are incredible! They do a very good job at cleansing your skin and rejuvenating it! You leave the place GLOWING. This is my favorite place to get facials and the only spa in my list that's gonna get 5 stars! Their Signature facial is around $135 for 75 minutes. If you're new to facials, I suggest checking them out during SpaWeek (Spaweek.org) where you can get a 50 minute facial for $50. You'll be hooked afterwards! Relaxation in Los Angeles....kind of an oxymoron for me. But I think I have found an acceptable option for seeking 75 minutes of solace while an angel of therapy kneads expertly at my knot of a human body. This is coming from someone who has somehow turned into a massage snob who saves her knots for the Asian skills of Thailand and Taiwan. So that is my only reason for the missing star, the international competition. But in and of itself, I could come down off my high horse to melt into the treatments at Skin Haven for sure. Prior to my scheduled deep tissue massage, I enjoyed some Brazilian jazz while munching on banana chips and sipping on mango tea in their waiting room wafting with tranquilizing smells. I was treated to a deep tissue massage given by the lovely Marcella whose flowing technique turned me into an instant pile of putty. I liked that the basic massage time is 75 minutes as opposed to the 50 minute tease offered at a lot of other places. Skin Haven pours over with peace & the energy of stillness from making the appointment by phone to the send-off goodbye. I can see myself returning there or recommending it to friends for an urban escape. I'll just need to warn the city of L.A. to cease all operations of ambulance and fire trucks during my appointments. That was the call to reality that I didn't need. read more

I've been going here for the last 2 years when it started in the owners backyard bungalow. They have moved into a bigger studio but it still remains my favorite place to get a facial in LA. If you're looking for something inexpensive this is not the place. I believe a facial is around $150 but its well worth it. When you walk in you immediately feel at peace. You are given cozy socks and the waiting room is filled with yummy teas and snacks. You are always welcome to come in way before or stay after your appointment to relax. Just had a facial. Best ever ever ever... Of course, I walked in and told her - I won't fall asleep and I was out as soon as she touched my face... but wow was it a great nap - a five star facial, a clean face and a bonus nap! This place is where all the stars go so its kind of low key, underground, around the back, hidden and I'm just letting the world in on a little secret. I went to this place because I found it on yelp, it had good reviews, and as a yelper you get a $99 first time visitor special. The place is really low key and quiet - I did not see another soul in there other than the receptionist and the facialist. Few customers with tons of personalized attention, a lovely waiting area with snacks and tea and free razors (yeah weird, but whatever), tons of magazine subscriptions, water falls, and all of that equals only one thing - awesome service but super duper pricey. Loved the facial - it was relaxing but also accomplished the goal of cleansing my skin and ridding it of LA pollution. I would totally go back if I could afford it. But with the standard price of 135 for a basic facial, I think this will have to be a yearly treat now that my 99 yelp special has been used. Honestly, when it came to self pampering I would always opt to spend my money on a massage rather than a facial due to three things: 1. Rarely breaking out, I never thought I needed them. 2. I never left feeling like I noticed an amazing difference. 3. The very few facials (3 to be exact) that I have gotten in my lifetime, two at distinctive day spas and one at a resort spa, were not relaxing and usually irritated my skin the next day, leaving me wishing I had not messed with my skin to begin with. After my experience last weekend at Skin Haven with Marcella, I have officially changed my mind. AMAZING is all I thought and felt during and after my treatment. I cant tell you what exactly was done on my face, being I chose not to be talked thru each step of my treatment, but basically my face was cleansed, exfoliated, masqued, massaged, extracted (with no use of tools or pain), and left glowing with smoothness and brightness. She addressed all of my concerns after my treatment, suggested some things for me to consider and try and had great manner. My boyfriend who I had treated to his first facial, even said "Wow your skin is glowing". Yayy! Now one week later I still feel and see a difference which is the most amazing thing for a non-believer of facials like me. I don't know what they did but I love it and will definitely be back. Came here for a facial the day of a huge event in a desperate attempt to have my embarrassingly large blemish magically removed--and remove it they did!!!! My skin is EXTREMELY sensitive and I told my aesthetician beforehand, so she was extra gentle. Though I was slightly red after the facial, it eventually calmed down and by the time my event rolled around, I was blemish free and my skin was absolutely radiant!!! My sweet husband gave me a gift certificate to Skin Haven for our anniversary back in October and I finally had time to use it a couple weeks ago. I have to say, it was one of the nicest gifts he ever gave me. I got the January special which consisted of the organic facial and signature massage (a great deal at slightly less than $200.00). From the moment I walked in, I knew this was a place that took relaxation seriously. Cellphone use is discouraged and they give you a comfy pair of spa socks to put on, which was really nice, both for the comfort and maintaining the quiet (no clicking heels on the tiled floor). First up was my massage with Cathy. She came and got me from the lovely waiting room and within moments I was melting. Cathy instantly zeroed in on my lower back (where I seem to store all my stress) and worked out every last knot. She used just the right amount of pressure and always checked in to make sure I was okay. By the time I got off the table I felt absolutely amazing, lighter and entirely pain free. Next was my facial with Melissa who kindly took the time to ask about my skincare concerns and routine before going to work. She said she'd tell me what she was doing but if I started falling asleep, she'd be quiet. I kind of laughed to myself because I never fall asleep during facials. Well, ten minutes later I was out and when I woke up my skin was positively glowing. I've never felt so relaxed or pampered at a spa before and I've tried many. With Skin Haven's great prices I still have money left over on my gift certificate but Melissa and Cathy were so good, I know I'll keep coming back even when I have to spend my own money! read more

I took advantage of the first-time client $99 facial and I had a great experience. I was specifically looking to get an extraction and I did a lot of research on the best spas to go to. What sold me on Skin Haven was the one-on-one consultation of my current skin care products. I brought a bagful of all the skin creams and cleansers in my cabinet and my therapist (Melissa) analyzed them for me based on my skin type. During the entire facial I picked her brain about my skin concerns and what products to try. The actual extraction didn't hurt and when I got home and examined closer it looked very thorough. The reason this place gets 5 stars is there was no sales pitch to get me to buy any of their products. I was definitely open to buying something if it caught my eye, but Melissa was very honest and she felt my current products were good and I did not need extraneous things. read more

I feel like a queen in the city! And what a very beautiful and relaxed queen I am! Once you enter the place, you'll just forget that you're in a busy city. They have a great service. They have snacks and drinks too. The staff was so accommodating. There were only very few people when I was there, which makes it even better, very private. The ambiance was just perfect! I had the best massage in my life. I've never felt more relaxed. I also had their popular facial treatment. It was a great experience for me. It's just so expensive though. I got this as a gift from my husband, and if I'll be using my own money, I'll have second thoughts. But because I feel like a new woman after all my treatments, I guess I need to start saving money for my next visit. Jonni Jonni Jonni! I use to work at a very facy day spa in Northern California and I have gotten massages all over the world and She is the best. I went in for a 75 min. Head ,neck and shoulder massage and when I got in there she asked if there was anything else I wanted worked on. I said yeah could you do my arms. She said sure and then asked if I wanted my scalp and face done. Do I!!! It was absolutely amazing. She is not a big talker but that is good because then you get to relax more. I have to say, I love this place. I've only been once, but I already have appointments scheduled to go back. I have always had "problem" skin, but have been able to manage it over the last few years. Until the last 12 months, that is. Visiting my best friend a few weeks ago and hearing her honest assessment of the state of my skin finally pushed me to call for an appointment. I have always had great results with peels, so I made an appointment for one. When I got there (ugh, late, which I hate, because I left late from work and, well, LA traffic; need I say more?) but the receptionist was so kind. The spa was small, quiet and calming. I filled out my information materials, and my esthetician, Melissa, came out. She went through a very thorough, in my opinion, assessment of what she felt my skin needs were, based on my current issues and goals. Ahhh, the facial. I fell asleep! The extractions, which are massively painful for me, were just minor distractions. My face is still just so much clearer and feels so much cleaner then it did pre-facial. I decided it was time to treat myself to some pampering and made an appointment at Skin Haven for their January special - a 75 minute signature massage and 75 minute organic facial. First off, this place is located in a small discrete building so it's easy to miss. There is a small parking lot (turn into the alley behind the building), which is convenient. The spa is small but relaxing. There is a small waiting area with some couches, snacks and drinks where you wait for your appointment. There are no other amenities, so if you're looking to use a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, you find any of that at Skin Haven. There is a single shower in the bathroom, but it didn't look like anyone ever uses it. My massage with Kathy (?) was awesome. She was attentive, asked me which areas I wanted to focus on (and she actually listened), and really friendly. The 75 minutes flew by and I got up feeling much more relaxed. I was somewhat disappointed with my facial (probably because the reviews on Yelp set my expectations really high). Prior to the facial, my esthetician asked if I wanted her to explain to me what she was doing during the facial or if I prefered to relax. I told her I wanted to relax but asked her to tell me the important stuff. She ended up not explaining any of the procedures she was doing nor the products she was using. :( Following the facial, I waited in the waiting area for awhile, expecting her to come out and tell me about my skin and her recommendations. When she finally did come out, she really didn't say much about my skin. After reading all these great reviews on Yelp, I expected to learn more about my skin. To be honest, I can't say that I walked out of there feeling like my skin was cleaner nor softer. The experience was great, and the best part it made my girl's night out a blast! We never been to Skin Haven before but based on Yelp it was a good push to go. I drove me and my girl friend from Calabasas area all the way here and it's best to plan ahead on the driving. Being an LA native make sure you understand what time you're driving in, we planned to drive 1.5 hours ahead of the appointment to come on time through the 101 Freeway, and we made it a few minutes on time! Make sure to look online as to how to get into their parking lot, I almost missed it since it was night time and fairly dark. But once you step inside the spa a whole different feeling rushes you, it is very tranquil and peaceful inside as well as welcoming. Cell phones are discouraged and shoes which prevent alot of unneeded noises. After filling out some papers as a newbie there's this great lounge that has snacks, great tea, awesome sofas, and magazines for those who didn't bring in a partner in crime to converse with. My facial was the spa's signature facial with Melissa and she was a really great person to talk to as well as talented. I felt very little pain and I have gotten many facials before. A little bit on Melissa is that she is very smart and kind and during my conversation while getting treatment I couldn't stop laughing because she was so funny. We kept talking about Food Network and Alton Brown and random topics like school and LA traffic (though those are kinda typical topics for LA natives). But even though there were many great conversations that did not take away from the fact that the treatment was AWESOME, it left my face feeling amazing for the next few weeks and clean! I got really great tips as well. The reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars was because of how difficult it was to park in the parking lot that they had and their bathrooms. The lot is very small but it is in Santa Monica/Beverly area. I believe they only had one bathroom so I had to wait for the person ahead of me to finish and it's unisex. Unlike other places I have went to with large respective changing rooms and lockers this place did not have one, but really other than that the treatment and people here are great. read more

My fiance got me a gift certificate for Christmas and I finally made use of it. My esthetician was Melissa. She was very nice and did a good job. I wish she had explained a little more of the steps she was taking and products she was using so I was a little more informed. I also wish she had gone to task on the white heads that were on my chin, but I didn't think of mention it at the time so I really can't blame her. Overall the spa had a wonderful vibe and the lounge, as everyone else has mentioned, is impressive. Personally I'm not one to spend on facials so I don't know that I'd come back again. Nothing miraculous happened with my skin, which was a bit red after my appointment. Of course, I don't expect overnight results so I'm definitely not complaining. If you enjoy facials I would recommend giving Skin Haven a shot. One last thing - Melissa used the Clarisonic (like Sonicare for your face) to cleanse/exfoliate my face and I thought that was really cool. I believe it comes with all the facial packages and imo it's a great way to "sample" the device. I'm considering buying it as most exfoliants are too harsh (both physical and chemical). The staff is courteous but not intrusive, and every massage I've had there is extra special good. You should know that this is not a "full service" spa like Burke Williams that has hot tubs and steam rooms and junk - but seriously, who wants to pay $180 to sit around in someone else's bath water?? I Haven't had a facial in 15 years.. I've had spa treatments before... but this facial was heavenly! Showed up on a Monday night after work. It was very quite and tranquil inside. Marcella was very nice, very gentle, and very informative. She consulted with me first and really cared about my issues. The products were great smelling, the textures were amazing.. there is also a little massaging here and there and Marcella had the exact pressure that I wrote down. I just got back from having a facial with Marcella here for my spa week treatment. Of all the places I could have gone, I chose this one from all the great reviews found here. During spa week they were offering their organic facial (50min) for $50 when it is originally $160. How could you pass up this deal? I've had many facials done all over California from expensive ones to not so expensive ones. So I definitely had high expectations coming into this place. Upon first entering I was surprised how dark it was inside from all the photos found here. The pictures definitely don't represent the atmosphere of this place. However, the fact that it was dark wasn't a negative aspect. Its like stepping into a whole new world away from the noise and chaos of Los Angeles into tranquility and relaxation. After checking in you are then escorted to the waiting area which have complimentary water, tea, and Borba (skin balance water). Having never heard of Borba and digging the container it was in I tried the Lychee replenishing flavor. Not bad, but what blew me away was the nutritional value. Basically the same as water, but jam packed with all sorts of Vitamins! After chilling for a little while they called me in for the facial. The experience was great. Very relaxing and I loved how Marcella didn't just talk and talk, but instead let me relax while she was doing the facial/massage. The experience was very similar to previous facials I have gotten, but very well done. I especially liked how Marcella came out before I paid to discuss some of the product she used, recommendation, and advise after giving me the facial. Most places try to sell their product and services for the future , but I felt she was more informative than anything else. Knowledge of you taking care of your face in the wrong manner, using inappropriate products, and not nourishing the way it should be is priceless. I thank you for this enlightenment!! read more

I have been to many of the LA spas but Skin Haven is HOME for me. What I love is the low-key lovely atmosphere. The last thing I want when I'm going to get a facial is a scene. Can't say enough good things! From the second you walk in the door, Skin Haven provides a completely relaxing experience. I have been going to Sharon for years and she always makes me skin look amazing. She pampers my skin and I leave with a glow that lasts until my next facial. Other places will try to push you towards buying only their stuff but Sharon is super knowledgable and will take a look at your current products (and their ingredients) to see if they're truly a good fit for your skin. Excellent service and very pleasant. Only downside is that the chairs available for clients are not supportive enough and can be uncomfortable. If you're going to relax, a good supportive comfortable chair is required. I'd want to recommend that Skin Haven spend the necessary money on this vs. any further attention to decor which by the way is lovely but... a little dark. Overall: I would definitely recommend. I went for a Pedicure. My Pedicurist was terrific - instruments are autoclaved (a rarity and the best way to insure safety where hygiene is concerned), the gal spoke English fluently and understood English, and the treatment was done in a room where it was just me with her working on my toes. read more

Skin Haven is really nice. I think their massages are a tad overpriced, but at the same time, you do get 75 minutes, which is lovely. I had a therapist there named Jonni (a female) and she's incredible: very soothing, really gets in there, and nurturing. I wish I could go to her more, but I can't afford them all the time. They have good monthly specials too. I've been there for the Happy Hour, and it's also very fun. All in all, I'm a fan. They lose one star because they are a little pricey for me, and also because they do not have spa facilities (i.e. a hot tub, steam, sauna, etc.) read more

I have avoided facials for 10+ years after experiencing a nightmare at the hands of a supposedly top notch facialist in a very reputable SF salon. After enduring that eye-tearing, painful session, I vowed to never again subject myself to such abuse. But after years of fearful avoidance and coming to the conclusion that this is not the kind of experience a good facial should provide, I decided to give it another shot. Thankfully, I visited Sharon at Skin Haven for a Signature Facial, and am still in awe of what a pleasant, relaxing time I enjoyed. Such a nice way to pamper yourself, and my skin felt lovely afterward. Sharon also offered a few skin care tips, and without any sales pitches, I chose to buy a product I felt would be beneficial to my skin care regimen. I must also say that I had a fantastic massage with Erin, and would highly recommend her. Very relaxing atmosphere - what you should expect -soft lighting, unobtrusive music, warm and comfy tables, small fountains... very nice. And the calming waiting area is stocked with teas, a couple of snacks and reading material, although I had little time to enjoy it before I was brought in for my services - meaning they were right on time. Best facial I've ever had. Skin Haven is top of the line in every way. I started seeing Sharon (the owner) a few months before my wedding on a recommendation from a friend. I have always had not so great skin and with her help and her incredible facials, my skin was GLOWING without 1 blemish on my wedding day. I never left skin haven with irritated or red skin as I had after facials at other spas. My skin always looked hydrated and extremely healthy. The spa is so comforting and warm...they give you spa socks to put on as soon as you walk in which make your feet cozy. The waiting lounge has hot tea, cold tea, snacks, and magazines of choice to start of your relaxing experience. The products used are exceptional, everything from the masks to body lotion. I am not often moved to posting user reviews unless I have an exceptional experience, one way or the other. My visit to Skin Haven this week was truly exceptional, in the best possible way. Their phone manner was friendly and helpful, they have a parking lot (plenty of private lot parking plus easy street parking is a big plus), and this cozy, small spa is the real thing. It is intimate, warm, and beautiful without the sterile, impersonal, snooty attitude you get at almost every other place in town. I could tell from my phone calls to them that I would be treated well and they exceeded my expectations, even helping me pick a restaurant to go to after my treatments (and calling ahead for me too!) which was great. I booked their December treatment package special (listed on their web site) and it was amazing. They give you a soft pair of spa socks when you walk in the front door (you leave your shoes there) which are so comfortable! The monthly special also included a free pair, and I would have bought one anyway, so that was nice. I had the Ayurvedic Massage (my first one ever) and it was incredible. My therapist explained everything to me in advance, checked in about pressure and temperature, and let me relax and enjoy her wonderful technique as well as the essential oils used for this treatment. Then I had the Organic Facial which was absolutely delicious. The owner Sharone performed my facial and I can honestly say it was the most thorough AND most relaxing facial I have ever received. And I've had many, many facials before, all over Los Angeles and spas all over the place. The organic products are lovely--gentle but very active--and my skin looked and felt absolutely incredible afterwards. Days later it still looks glowy, toned, and hydrated. All in all, this was the best spa experience I've had, from my first call through my treatments and of course enjoying the amenities in the "zen lounge". I immediately felt comfortable with her as if she was a friend, yet she was completely professional.
