It was such a lovely and personal touch. The true highlight, though, was my Lift & Firm Facial with Ann. Hands down the best facial I've had in many years! Ann was phenomenal--she had the perfect balance of professionalism, warmth, and attentiveness. She explained each step of the process without interrupting the calming atmosphere and used just the right amount of pressure during the face and shoulder massage portion (which was divine!). She took care to ask about any sensitivities and truly customized the experience to my needs. By the end of my service, I felt completely relaxed, rejuvenated, and honestly, I didn't want to leave the room--I could've taken a nap right there! My skin feels amazing and my stress just melted away. The entire experience, from the serene ambiance to the personalized service, was the perfect treat. We each had an attendant massage our arms and legs and feet, while we sat in very comfortable recliners. The attendants also used hot stones, which felt very nice. For the detox part we were hooked up to a machine and our feet placed in buckets of water for 30 minutes. We both kind of dozed off because we were so relaxed. I think next time I'd skip the detox and do more of the reflexology, and maybe add a pedicure! I wasn't sure what to expect but this was a really nice experience. I think it was great value for money too.

My call was answered by a nice lady, but she then handed the phone to the lady who did my pedicure. I wasn't even able to explain what had happened before she immediately started arguing with me about how there is no way she could have hurt me because the alcohol would have hurt it? She didn't put any alcohol on my heel. She put it on my toes before she did the nail polish. The fact that this woman did not even care to hear what I had to say and immediately started aggressively denying anything happening at all is incredibly frustrating and, if anything, just proves that she knows she messed up. At the end of our phone call, I let her know that I was trying to call so that the business had an opportunity to fix this accident, but that since she was not working with me in the slightest, I would be leaving had bad review online. She told me to go ahead and do it, so here ya go!!!!!

I have read many of the reviews for Skin Sense and can say without a doubt I don 't understand how I could have always been treated so well; while others were treated so badly. I have always found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming. Yes, they may try to get you to purchase add-ons, but that is their job and all you must do is decline. I have NEVER felt pressured in any way.....I just say 'no.' Also, since I have been in Customer Service type jobs my entire life I can attest that if you are nice, (even if you have a complaint), they will reciprocate with kindness. You may not like that they are enforcing their policies, however those policies are posted on both their website and in the facility......pay attention and read them. Before moving out of the area I had gone to Skin Sense many times and always enjoyed my experience there, massages/facials/waxing/clinics, etcetera. When we moved back to the area and I was unpacking I ran upon 2 G/C's I had not used. This prompted me to once again go online and make two appointments; one for a waxing and facial, another for a massage, (to be done on two different days). Since I live in West Cary, I will say that I was disappointed that they had closed the 2 Cary and 1 Briarcreek stores. Those stores were all much more convenient that the Falls of the Neuse store, however my experiences had always been so pleasant and positive that I decided to drive 30 minutes one way to go get pampered. I understand the pandemic hit many small businesses profits and many had to downsize or close completely. At least they were able to keep one of their stores opened. I can say, it WAS SO WORTH IT!! I would give them 10 stars or 100 if I could. So my recommendation to everyone would be, know the stores policies; know they enforce them with very few exceptions, arrive 15 minutes BEFORE your appointment and above ALL else be friendly to them, (even if you have a complaint), and you will more than likely be treated the same. As an add-on.....if you don't want to have conversation during your treatment, just say so and I'm sure the technician will accommodate the request. read more

Let me preface this by saying that my husband and I frequent Skin Sense in BC many times throughout the year, spending thousands of dollars here. We send countless friends and family members here as well. I scheduled an appointment on 12/18 with EVE-- a 330p 50 minute massage with a female therapist for 12/19. I arrived at 215 the next day. The lobby was busy given the holiday rush. 4 other customers walked in around the same time. Not one staff member greeted any of us. After 10 minutes of waiting, a woman finally walked me back to the locker room and handed me my shoes and robe. She said she would check me in. I wanted to add enhancements to my massage and book a massage for the following day for my husband, so i walked back out to the lobby and spoke with another receptionist about my appointment. She added the enhancements and booked the additional appointment with the assistance of KIM, the spa director and verified that I was checked in. 330 came around...no therapist.. 15 minutes into my scheduled appointment time, I walked out to the front to see what was going on. Neither receptionist had bothered to check me in. Come to find out..the therapist that they had booked me with was a man. Again, I specifically requested a female therapist. The Spa director....KIM, said she would re-book my appointment for another day and offered 10% off my next service. She was rude, smug and pompous with the way she spoke to me at the spa and again when I spoke to her on the phone, to cancel my husbands Sunday appointment. When I expressed that I was unhappy with what she had offered, she stonewalled me. When I asked to speak with the owner of the spa, she stonewalled me again. When I told her that we would never come back to Skin Sense again she responded "Okay, Thank you." I spent years working at a 5 star spa, I was absolutely appalled by the way the "spa director" handled this situation. Three different employees messed up my appointment and the Spa director mismanaged the entire situation. The owner needs to be aware of how her spa is being run. read more

Kathy is the best esthetician. She truly is a gem!! My appointments with her have completely changed my face from having acne to being radiant and clear. I've never gotten so many compliments on my face than I did after appointments with her. My my family and boyfriend all noticed how clear and bright my skin looked. Facials with Kathy are worth every penny! I came to skin sense with acne that started in high school--stubborn white heads. In college I went to the dermatologist to finally get rid of those stubborn white heads and started taking Differin which resulted in full-blown acne. If you are currently taking Differin, this advice is for you: there is another way to CURE acne that works instead Differin or harsh retinoids--facials to extract the clogged pores is the way to go :) Differin is expensive, but the price you pay for clear skin adds up which makes treatments even as frequent as monthly with Kathy at Skin Sense comparable in price. The difference is that facials/extractions WORK. The products she uses are natural too, which is an added bonus. Your skin will look so so good after an appointment with her (maybe not the day after since she goes deep to extract the pores, but a few days later). Kathy gets to the root of the breakout/acne during the facial appointment. She extracts clogged pores with pain-staking precision and thoroughness. She cares and genuinely wants to help. After Differin resulted in full-blown acne, I stopped using it and tried to manage the acne with traditional advice (drying skin out, etc). But after one treatment with Kathy before an 8-week trip to Africa for a summer I made a vow to go back once a month until my acne was gone/face clear. I had so many clogged pores that it took 3-4 months of an appointment 1x/month for her to finally say there were no more clogged pores she could find :))))) My appointments with Kathy removed the acne and cleaned out years of blocked pores. My other experiences at Skin Sense have been top-notch. Their line, Eminence, is incredible. LOVE KATHY. read more

Warning: Personal Injury Caused by Skin Sense I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Skin Sense Spa warrants it. I booked a four-layer facial expecting a relaxing, professional treatment. Instead, the mask removal process was so aggressive that it left visible bruising on my nose and under my eyes--areas that are especially delicate and should be handled with care. What's even more disappointing is how the situation was handled afterward. I reached out directly to the spa, providing a detailed description of what happened along with photos documenting the bruising. It took three days to receive a response from the director, and when I finally did, the reply was dismissive. I was told there was "no way" the mask could have caused the bruising--despite clear evidence to the contrary. No accountability was taken, and no effort was made to resolve the issue or even acknowledge my concerns in a meaningful way. Mistakes can happen in any service business, but how you respond to them is what defines your professionalism. In this case, the lack of empathy, ownership, and customer care was as troubling as the initial experience itself. I'm genuinely at a loss for how a business can operate this way and treat customers with such disregard. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this spa. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! The girls at the desk were so friendly. The salt cave was wonderful! I fell asleep almost instantly. We were shown all of the amenities in the the locker room and told we could use anything we needed! I do recommend that you go early though because the sessions start right on time and we almost didn't make it. There were some other ladies in the salt room with us that kept talking but that was their rudeness and not the fault of the spa..When my friend made our appointment, she was told that there may be others in with us. The lounge was beautiful and the tea was great! We never felt rushed and we were treated as though we were royalty and there to spend tons of $$$. We were also informed that if we want to return for another salt cave session we could get the same deal in the spa that Groupon offers. We will probably go that route because it seems much easier. I recommend everyone go and experience the salt cave. It was wonderful! read more

I love this place. It's not a fancy day spa but it's nice, casual, relaxing, has a variety of offerings, spaces, and products. The front desk staff and manager are very friendly and helpful. You can get discounts as a monthly subscriber. Gavenn is the most amazing masseuse! If you need therapeutic deep tissue massage, he's your masseuse! He also does relaxing massage. I've never had a better masseuse. He's a natural healer and can find and work out your tough spots instinctively. I highly recommend him. He's was I keep coming back. You're welcome to hangout and relax the lounge before/after services. They offer tea and cucumber water, fresh towels and robes, slippers, cucumbers and wash cloth for your eyes/face. I have lived in Raleigh for 9 years now and have had back issues all my life. I have been to quite a few spas in the area over the years, but I have to say Skin Sense blows them all out of the water! I was lost when they asked me what facial I wanted, and they assured me my esthetician would help me choose what was right for my skin type. Had the most amazing time! My massage therapist, Samantha, was marvelous, she made me feel so relaxed and even gave me some stretches to take home so I can feel better! The salt cave is a MUST!! I went in with a lot of head congestion and it truly did help alleviate some of the pressure. The technicians were great and you even get this amazing cold eye mask that really helps you relax in the salt cave. I 10/10 recommend this place and will definitely be coming back! Skin Sense in brier creek is terrible. The front desk staff is unorganized and not very friendly at all. They don't greet guests when they enter the lobby if they are too busy with other things. The therapists are just so so and the manager is rude and not accommodating at all when mistakes are made. I have frequented this location numerous times, each time ending worse than the last. I have been to the North Raleigh Skin Sense Day Spa and gone into the salt cave there several times. It is a wonderful experience. It detoxes the body and all I did was sit there. After I got out I didn't feel the effect until about 30 min later but it lasts for several days. I have sinus problems and asthma so it really helps me with both problems. read more

Edit: I am including this part in response to the owner. The only mobility issue I have is I can't stand long. My laying on the chair/bed with a knee bolt has no way, shape, or form, any impact on the quality or performance of the service. Because laying for your service is a standard. But on a serious note, please inform me. Apart from having a knee cushion under me, what parts of the service was "adapted" for me? So I know what the baseline and changes were. You were made aware of my limited mobility, as I said over the phone that I cannot stand long and you responded that you have a mechanical chair that moved into a flat bed, and that there is a knee bolt and option for lumbar support. So there would be no standing involved. It still doesn't answer the question of what parts of the service was "adapted" for me, and it doesn't explain why the back half of my head was neglected. I digress. Actual review: I got a 60 minute service and was genuinely underwhelmed and disappointed in myself for spending over 200 dollars (including tip) on this. I work in customer service so I try to tip well, but this just felt like a waste. Technician never checked in with me about the pressure, the bottom half of my head felt super neglected. The only times she "lifted" my head up was to place/remove towel and a zippered-bonnet. And by lift, I would feel pressure on the crown of my head, nudging me to lift my head. When she nudged me to turn my neck to get the sides, the back of my head and hair was barely touched and it was mostly neck strokes. Like literal stroking down my neck. It could've been nice, but she focused on my right side more and breezed through my left side so it was uneven but whatever. When product was directly applied to my scalp, she stopped at the top of my head. So imagine if I'm wearing headphones, and that was like a hard boundary. That's where she stopped. In the end, my scalp feels like there's residue from the products, my back half of the head doesn't feel clean and just feels like soapy water runoff was just chillen there. If I scratch my scalp, there's literal gunk under my nail from the products used. I also asked for a receipt be sent to my phone, which I am still waiting on. So yeah. I envy those who genuinely had really good experiences here. But for someone who just had surgery and can't stand long, I was really looking forward to a good clean. Super disappointed and underwhelmed, and the 30 minute drive made it feel more like a waste of money.

She didn't ask me once how the pressure was or anything either. She didn't do my arms and only part of my legs. I didn't like the hot towel because then I was just cold after. My partner's therapist didn't even do her legs! Completely said "Sorry, I ran out of time." This is a 60 minute massage and you don't have a basic structure? It's frustrating spending money on a service that isn't fully completed. When we told the front desk she was apologetic but just suggested coming back and they would let us do it again at a new client rate - which I don't think is satisfactory for the problem. I'm a student and splurged to have a good experience and was left with more pain than when I came in. Just an unfortunate waste of money.

Not as noticeable from a distance but was a less professional grade manicure and hand massage than I would have liked. Sort of timid. Even with the Emory board. Fingernails were not cleaned out and had to ask. Only went back and did just one. Polish was not applied smoothly or evenly in the two coats. There were streaks and bubbles. Didn't take it to the edges of skin, while leaving nail polish remnants on some fingertips. Finally just let her finish and departed, thinking I'd probably have to take this all off at home. It's not bothering me as much now, cosmetically, but I'm disappointed that my cuticles aren't even groomed well, which is what I'd mainly gone to a nail tech for. I think the neighbors come here mainly for facials and full body massage, so perhaps try that instead.

It's clear that the owner truly does care about customer satisfaction and trust. I think she is actively working on training and uplifting front desk employees to improve the overall experience for customers and members beyond the services. I previously had an issue with canceling my membership with a couple of employees (chose to join another spa due to scheduling preferences) but the owner, Stephanie, helped rectify the issue immediately after being informed.
