Wilson, my massage tech has such a peaceful vibe, his energy and touch are soothing. And Jaycie has my skin glistening from the calming facial - she's goooood. To top it off, the salt cave is next level. I would go several times a week if I could. The girls up front always take good care of me. Finally, the boutique...try not to break the bank. I truly wanted to love Spa Sense and hoped it would become my go-to spa, especially because this was such a special gift from my daughter. As a single mom, I do not do much for myself, let alone spend money on expensive self-care experiences, so this meant a lot to me. It was one of those sweet "Mom, please do something for yourself, you deserve it" gifts, and I was genuinely excited to finally treat myself. I arrived early for my first appointment hoping to relax and maybe get a little guidance about the facial experience since it was my first time having one. Instead, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming from the start. There was very little effort made to explain the process, make me feel comfortable, or create the calming experience you would expect from a spa. The service itself was confusing, and I later realized the "facial" was more of a massage-style treatment. I even paid extra for an add-on that I found out was not the right kind of add on for this type of service. In the end I was offered and pressured into a very quick, basic facial but didn't discuss costs or any options. Even then, I chose not to leave a review because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. After I shared my concerns, the owner reached out and invited me back, which I appreciated and genuinely saw as an opportunity to make things right. During my second visit, I was asked to come in as a secret shopper, but the staff already seemed aware, which made the situation awkward from the beginning. Like too welcoming and making a point to be overly kind, more forced than what your normal standard should be kind of thing. We then attempted a microdermabrasion facial, but all 3 of their machines failed and I had 3 room changes during the service, and only part of my face was treated and left with a very incomplete facial. The gal doing the facial was kind and professional, but once again the overall experience fell short. Still, I remained patient because I truly wanted this place to succeed. The owner then personally gave me a gift card to return once more. Unfortunately, when I later tried to use it, I was told the card had no funds on it, and the front desk had no idea what I was referring to. That was the most disheartening part of all. When someone books a self-care service especially when it is a rare treat and a meaningful gift they are looking for professionalism, warmth, and a sense of peace. Sadly, that was missing here. I gave this spa chances because I truly wanted it to be a place I could support and return to regularly, but the overall experience felt inconsistent, impersonal, and unresolved. I hope management takes honest feedback seriously and focuses more on customer experience, communication, and making clients feel genuinely valued. read more

I wanted a quiet, simple birthday this year, especially after our busy trip to Disney last year. Alyson is very welcoming and friendly, she talks, but also gets that you're there to relax and follows your lead. I recommend her to everyone. My skin always feels great when I leave. The salt cave was relaxing and I quickly took a nap. Afterwards we returned to the waiting area and was there for a minute lol. The staffed seemed busy that day so everything sorta felt rushed. I have been to this place over 10 times in the past 5 years. I usually go after I've gotten a gift card for a birthday or a treat yourself day. We decided to do a couple's massage because we've done one there before and it was amazing. This time however, things were very rushed. We felt pressured to get ready for the massage quickly. Our intake was super short and not really relaxed during the actual massage. My husband's massage was decent but not outstanding. Mine was not very good at all. I requested most of the time to be spent on my shoulders and my neck due to that's where I hold all my stress. I kept waiting during the massage for those areas to get targeted. This never occurred. Oddly enough, areas that I mentioned, no problems that were more intimate were the most focused on. I had actually never had that happen before so that felt very strange. I reached out to the company to let them know and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just a mismatched masseuse. They were very hard to get in contact with and we had to call back numerous times to even get a response. They did not make any accommodations for refunds or a redo of the service as they did not provide what I asked for. I think this place had changed management and not for the better. I do not recommend this place at all with the current management. Hopefully it gets better later because it was great but now not so much. I also would be cautious with your massage if there are areas that are off limits as they may not be respected. Zero out of 10 for this experience. read more

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and the two things that help me manage it best of all are Physical Therapy and medium/deep tissue massage. I purchased the 100 minute massage and was blessed to have Wilson as my massage therapist. He gave me one of the best massages of my life. I swear I walked out of there an inch taller from his work loosening my tight muscles and tendons. He was fantastic. The entire place is very relaxing and I feel like just walking to the back locker room was like taking a deep breath and breathing out all of the tension and stress. I did not have time to take advantage of the steam room but I did shower after my massage and it was very clean and the locker room was pretty well stocked with clean towels, shower gel, etc. If you are looking for a deeply relaxing experience, I highly recommend them and you can't go wrong with Wilson, he is excellent and very personable and nice. This place is such a vibe!!! When you go in you are warmly greeted by the wonderful front staff. After you are checked in you get your slippers and are shown to the locker room. There you receive a robe and the chance to use the restroom. From there you head to the lounge. The lounge is dimly lit has a fireplace light snacks cold cucumber water and Nannies tea. I heard the owner uses her Nannies recipe. You can also snuggle with a blanket while you kick your feet up waiting on your appointment to start. I highly recommend this place. After my appointment I love to go back to the lounge and relax some more. The services are amazing. I'm truly very happy with each visit. read more

I've been coming to the Salt Cave at Skin sense after I first discovered salt caves as I feel very relaxed when I leave. After I booked the appointment, I received an email confirming it and many reminders of it following, including the morning of. They have a generous rebooking policy of 24 hours ahead of time if something does come up. Skin Sense is located in North Raleigh off Falls of Neuse Rd. The parking lot is large so I have never had an issue of finding a spot. When I arrived on my last visit, I checked myself and the group in and was shown where the restrooms were located. When more of the group arrived, we were shown how to use the four digit code on the locker and told we could keep our shoes on until we got to the salt cave and there was a bench for our shoes. The session did start late so I am not sure the group ahead of us were on time for their session. We did not get the full 45 minutes either even though it was not out fault we did not start on time. The salt cave was a good experience in the zero gravity chairs and cold eye masks were provided. At the end when some of the group wanted the water in the waiting area, we were rushed out instead of being given a few minutes to unwind. read more

I went in for a salt room experience because I was curious about the benefits. The time slot I chose was nice because I was alone in the room for the entire 45 minutes. I was taken in quickly and It was very relaxing. The walls have large salt rocks and there is salt all over the floor. They have blankets in case you get cold but it was a perfect temp in there.
