My wife loves seafood, but I do not, I decided to try this place to please her. First, it is a restaurant and seafood shop so you can go in and pick some uncooked fish to take home and cook yourself. 2nd the actual atmosphere the place is mostly a hole in the wall older furnishing you could tell it's been in business for a while. Everything on the wall, of course has to do with fish and fishing. The staff was helpful and nice. The menu was pretty large, but it seemed like every time somebody asked for something special that they were out of it, which is understandable. OK onto the food. My wife had fried shrimp and fried clams and it looked good but it didn't taste very good. She really didn't like it. I had a burger, and my only request was that it not be pink in the middle and when I started eating it, it was pink in the middle. This might be a good place to buy some raw seafood, but according to my wife and I, it's not a very good place to get cooked food. read more

What a disappointment. I was looking forward to their fried shrimp. I had it a couple years ago and it was excellent. We ordered a pound. But looked like less than the pound when it arrived. The breading was so bland what are they doing. Wow. Even some of the shrimp were tough. What happened. Also the cocktail sauce was watered down yuk. read more

Haven't been to Skip One for 3 years due to covid and Ian. Two and a half foot of surge flowed through the restaurant, but it's back and still my favorite fish house. My daughter and I had dinner two nights in a row. The first evening I had my all time favorite, the calamari appetizer and a dozen clams. My daughter had all you can eat fried shrimp. She said they were the best shrimp ever. The owner has several shrimp boats and catches them in the Gulf and never frozen. Most shrimp comes from farms in the far east and is frozen. The second night I had the swordfish. Waiting to be seated standing by the seafood market and I noticed that the swordfish looked good and I was right. Daughter ordered the all you can eat snow crab which included the claws. Of course I sampled some and it was cooked just right. In conclusion, all four entrees were rated 5 stars. read more

Myers over the holidays and found Skip One via Yelp/Tiktok. Now if you like a "no frills" type of spot with good food, this is it. It is very divey and you don't come here for the aesthetics necessarily (there is also a seafood market counter at the front where people will come in to buy fish etc). They have a big selection of entrees and apps ( a lot of it is fried); I tried the fried gator tail (would skip), spicy steam shrimp (phenomenal!! And reasonable price for the amount), steamed mussels (alright), and fried shrimp (got the half pound, which was a bit pricey for the amount given: may opt for the platter next time).l and key lime pie (SO GOOD!) A nice surprise. I was looking for one last seafood place to hit before returning to the airport and flying home, and this place popped up en route. Easy to find. Does it have ambiance? Looking at the outside of the building, you wouldn't think much about the place, but the food is always fresh and service is always fantastic; very friendly staff. My sister found this cute little seafood shop in fort Meyers. I was definitely not disappointed. You have to try the shrimp, steamed. The seasoning is amazing and you can tell all the seafood is very fresh. We also got the mussels and fried shrimp which was amazing as well. Don't forget to get the key lime pie! It's not too tart and has the perfect touch of sweetness, I highly recommend getting a slice or two. Stopped in for stone crab and Skip One had the BEST stone crab we've had this season. The waitress originally said they only had large, but then notified us that they had jumbo claws in the back seafood market. I guess there's a restaurant in the front and a market in the back. So we immediately said "Jumbo please!" The jumbo claws were definitely jumbo! Lately I've noticed that places will say large and they are clearly mediums... and jumbo and they are clearly large, but not at Skip One! Jumbos were jumbos!!! We're also a little picky when it comes to mustard sauce... tough crowd WE KNOW! lol The mustard sauce at Skip One was excellent but on the spicy side- definitely has a dash of horseradish in it, but we loved it!! Almost forgot, we ordered hush puppies as an appetizer. I get carried away when I talk about stone crabs sorry!! Anyway, hush puppies came with honey on the side. I've never had honey on my hush puppies before and totally recommend you try it. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and a nice way to start your meal. Anybody can have an off day. I am hoping this was an off day for the kitchen. This has been one of my favorite places to eat. The clam chowder was very "starchy". It tasted like they were using a flour roux to thicken it with a lot of potatoes. Not much clam. I ordered the fried seafood platter. The salad was good and fresh served with blue cheese dressing. Don't order French. They don't have that. I don't know why. They have French fries. The oysters were good and had a crunchy coating. The shrimp was good. The cocktail sauce was so thick, you had to get some on your fork and then stab a shrimp. The crab cakes were, well, just sort of gross. Lots of filling. No lumps of crab and had a peculiar fish taste to them. They were more of a fish patty and not a particularly good one at that. The scallops were okay. The grouper was ho-hum. It didn't have the flavor that grouper usually does. Maybe Mondays aren't a good day to eat there Service was excellent. read more

Great lunch spot! Quick service and tasty food! We had ice tea and a couple of appetizers to start. The onion rings were okay but the horseradish sauce that came with them was wonderful! I saved it and dipped my fries in it. Mmmm...The alligator bits were fine--similar to chicken nuggets I had a grilled grouper sandwich with fries & coleslaw. Cooked perfectly, it was moist & tender. The coleslaw was good & the fries standard. Hubby had 1/2 sandwich (fried grouper) and a cup of conch chowder. The chowder was okay--tomato based. Next time he'll pick the clam chowder. Friends had the same, with one having fried clam strips, which were good & another fried shrimp plate, also good. Niece had crab cakes & likes them. The grouper portion is the same size in the sandwich as the platter, so get the cheaper sandwich. We'd love to go back! Waitress was pleasant. read more

I have to say that we were very disappointed. Several people said this was a good place. I guess they weren't at the top of their game tonight. The food was okay. We've been to quite a few seafood places now, and this was not among the top. My one daughter had the King Crab Platter ($30.00) and I'll have to say it was weak. 3 clusters and small. My other daughter had the Seamonster Combo. She was most interested in the Clams - but they do not have a "Clam Platter" alone. When the platter arrived there were no Clams. We questioned it and the kitchen said that they ran out of clams, so they substituted more Crawdads (really?) They clearly state "No Substitutes" all over their menu, but they can just do it without telling/asking the customer. When we said that we would have preferred Shrimp, they made a fuss. The manager had to come out. (really?) In the end they brought my daughter "4" shrimp. Ridiculous. My wife and I shared the Fried Fishermans Platter. That... was pretty good, although the Crab Cake was fried.... interesting. The service was okay. It was fast, but just okay. She forgot to bring me my second beer... no big deal. read more
