If you're looking for traditional English fish and chips then this isn't for you. The food is reasonably priced and is edible but not the best I've had. We came especially for the fish and chips as that was what my wife was craving. The large is just 2 pieces of fish not a full filet. She enjoyed hers but I was not impressed. It's counter service but they still ask for a tip at checkout which seems to be the norm nowadays. The place is pretty basic inside but was clean. I frequent the plaza this restaurant is in, and on a whim, tried the Philly Chz Steak. I am from the Philadelphia area and I am always in search of a close to home Chz steak sandwich. So last night I ordered a Large Chz Steak, with American Chz, peppers and onions w/mayo. I didn't eat it there but got it to go. I am going to say, this Chz steak was the best I have found down here in Cape Coral/FM area. Actually, it may be better than Jim's, in South Philly (that is if it's still in business since it burned down 3 years ago.), and Jim's was always my favorite go to. Anyways... This place is clean, the service was outstanding, and the peeps behind the counter are engaging for a convo (if it isn't too busy), and I may just make this my weekly Friday outing stop, and will try the fish fry next, as I am always looking for a good Fish and Chip joint. Several years ago, when this place was just Pete's Fish, I did have a fish fry and it was great!!! So I only assume the new owners carried on the fish fry recipe, which is good. This place has changed names many times but the quality has remained pretty high. This is the closest anyone around here has to a real Philly Cheesesteak, with Amorosa rolls and chopped meat. The only thing they don't have right is the Sweet pepper strips in sweet brine from San Del, and their hot peppers sliced. If they can get these original items they will justify calling them a real " Philly Cheese steak." I grew up working in a Hoagy shop that specialized in all things Philly, and was considered the best around, I miss the propper peppers and condiments that included fried onions, tomatoes, white American cheese, pickles, and of course, salt and pepper on a toasted roll, all included in the price but the cheese was an additional $.50 I will continue to get my cheese steaks here, but the authentic San Del or Cento peppers are getting hard to find in stores. Famous Philly Cheese Steak and Pete's Fish 11-2-24 Arrived at the Cape Corral location Saturday around 1pm. They were not busy as only one table was filled. They took our order fast at the counter. One this you must be aware of is if you use a credit card, they charge an extra 4%. This place is not big, they do have a few tables. We went to sit and two of the tables were dirty from the previous people. My Cheesesteak and my wife's Fish Sandwich was delivered to our table in a reasonable amount of time. My Cheesesteak was hot and very good. I added Onions and Marinara Sauce, but the bread was amazing. They were a little skimpy on the Marinara Sauce on my Cheesesteak, they could have put more on as the bread was a little dry. My wife's Fish was hot and very tasty, and she loved it. The Coleslaw that came with her Sandwich was warm not cold and it needs some improvement. Both sandwiches were good, but the star of the show was the Cheesesteak for sure. First time here, it was just ok. Husband had the Philly cheesesteak which was good, I took a bite, we both like Wicked Good Deli in Ft Myers better. My fish was a little soggy lacking taste, fries were meh. If I came back it wouldn't be for the fish it would be for a Philly. Nice amount of tables inside. This afternoon we had to make a trip to the dermatologist. On the way back we saw Pete's Fish and Chips. My son always raves about their food, so we decided to stop. I used my phone to order and pay online and we got a text that our food would be ready in a matter of minutes. The food was delivered curbside to our car. The fish was a large filet, fresh and flaky in a light batter atop of a mound of fries. The shrimp wrap was delish. Large lightly breaded shrimp in a fresh wrap with lettuce and tartar sauce. It was very large and a side order of chips came with it. The coleslaw was fresh and homemade, a little disappointing because the dressing was sort of bland and all we tasted was mayo. We definitely will return and try some of the other goodies on the menu. We appreciate the curbside service and as always, we love supporting our community neighborhood businesses! Based on the number of cheesesteaks carried-out while we ate our fish snd chips, we vowed to return to try them ourselves. A few days later, we returned and Wow! Pete's cheesesteak sandwiches are da bomb. The meats, cheeses and toppings are chopped so that every bite delivers all the flavors. The amoroso rolls are a perfect delivery system for these excellent sandwiches, as they are sturdy enough to contain the filling and they travel well enough to allow you to experience their perfection whether dining in or out. A very large and fresh piece of fish, hot from the frier with a light battered served in a basket with a handful of big cut fries (they do call 'em "chips" in the UK). Table sauces include ketchup, malt vinegar (try it on your chips) and tartar sauce. Service was excellent. It is a small shop and they don't have too many tables inside. Always looking for something British (since my wife is ..... British). Found this little place. Hoping they had Steak & Kidney Pie, but they did not. Owner said, Americans don't like kidney. They have Steak and Mushroom Pie. What about the Americans that don't like mushrooms - lol. Typical Fish and Chips (Cod). It was tasty. Very small place. Only 6 tables. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There were no tables open, so they waited to drop our order into the fryer. Didn't take long for a table (about 8-9 minutes). Obviously they have done this a lot, as their timing was very good. Nice place to catch a light meal. Very solid English style fish and chips. Really a 4.5 star as the food and the service was really good. Both of us had the "regular" size fish and chips and 2 cold Stella's for a bit over 30 bucks. Fair deal in my mind so I will go back and suggest to anyone looking for a nice authentic English style beer battered fish and chips. Cape Coral can be hit or miss- I really did not like the idea of fish and chips that may not be locally caught when the whole region is based on fishing. Much to my surprise, this little-themed restaurant hit the mark. There is plenty of British novelty all around and even authentic products you can buy like British candy etc. If you are a fan of fish and chips- complete with malt vinegar- you are in for a treat. HUGE portions and perfectly fried to-order fish paired with what we call steak fries were delicious. Even better than the large fish planks was the very large batter-fried shrimp. I am hoping this was local since we are so close to the gulf. The chicken was a bit stringy and dry. The coleslaw was also a bit of a disappointment but ok. The food comes out right off the fryer which I appreciate that is really hot. They jumbo shrimp are huge. Place is nice and small and I like the menu is small to offer their specialty. The staff is very kind. We dine in and I noticed that even though is an open kitchen you don't come out smelling like fried food which is a plus. This place deleted my wife's review on their Facebook page and blocked her because they didn't like her honesty. They treated us terrible. My wife has Cancer and we do a lot for our community.
