I just needed a cup of ice for my water since I don't have a place to store a bag of ice. The manager on duty has no compassion/or heart to want to charge me for a cup of ice. That is poor treatment, especially to people in the community going thru a tragedy who have patronized them for years. A cup of ice won't hurt your profit Merritt Canteen. The nachos with Cajun chicken were also lovely, with plenty of chicken. The miss of the meal was the smashburger, which really wasn't a smashburger. It was left with only two bites taken. This was where our server really handled the situation beautifully. We didn't ask for anything or complain, but he offered to send the manager over. We told him that wasn't necessary and that it was fine. He then went ahead and took the burger off the bill anyway, which we really appreciated. Overall, the experience started off a little questionable, but it ended on a positive note. Despite a few misses, most of the food was good.

I tried to eat the meat, gave my husband a piece, he said, "don't eat that!" When I told the server, she brought over a guy who I assume was the owner or manager. I told him the meat was not fresh, tasted old and, instead of apologizing, he started BULLYING ME INSISTING HE WOULD CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE BEEF, and LOUDLY kept repeating the meat was "fine" and that I "just didn't like it!" Well, NO SIR, yes, the MEAT WAS HORRIBLE and he kept arguing and insisted "is it fair?" to charge me for the potatoes, applesauce and salad. GUESS WHAT? He charged $7.25 for a side of mashed potatoes, $4.50 for a tiny dish of applesauce, and $4.95 for the salad! The salad was bagged mixed lettuce which was thrown into a bowl, bits of wet spinach and wilted lettuce mixed up, it was just AWFUL! So, my "dinner" cost $16.70 with no meat! Now, Galaxy Diner WAS one of our favorite diners but NOT ANY MORE! Unless that owner changes his attitude and cleans up the diner, business will continue to shrink! And IT HAS shrunk!
