I had the shrimp and grits that were the best grits I'd ever eaten and my husband raved over the chicken in Jamaican brown sauce. The service was attentive and the cocktails and wine list interesting and well done. Very noisy because it's a small place but we had a corner high top and could hear each other. Chef popped out to greet us which was just lovely. Hidden away so make sure you look for it.

My second time dining at 29 Markle Court yesterday! When…read morefirst I was introduced to this restaurant: an impromptu visit with a group, and we shared small plates, family style. It was delicious! This time, I reserved a table for four, including guests who were up to an adventurous evening. The place was hopping! A Friday evening fun atmosphere and a beautiful bar that reminded me of a Paris restaurant. We were seated at a great table with banquettes in a corner of the front dining room. Our waitperson was excellent- energetic, informed of the menu, friendly & interactive, I believe her name was Shamira. We received great recommendations for dishes on the menu accommodating certain preferences. Following Cocktails - from the usual order of Scotch, to the " Crimson" spicy, indeed. The "Wanderer" imbiber said she could sip them all night. I, being mostly just a wine drinker, ordered from the "unusual wines" - a delicious white wine from Languedoc named "Picpoul De Pinet, Feline Jourdan", which paired very well with both courses. Based on my enthusiasm we all shared a bottle with our Main Course! Total alignment. We shared Caesar salads, which were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their selection of a main course: Halibut with corn risotto, Shrimp & Grits with spicy red sauce (just right spicy), My dish was Mussels in ginger & lemongrass red Curry, paired with grilled bread for soaking up that sauce, Yum!; a Whole Red Snapper with Mole sauce for my husband - most adventurous diner of the evening! We stretched ourselves to order two desserts: Crème Brûlée and Goat Cheesecake! Sublime. On departing the Restaurant, we were thanked for dining by the Proprietor, Wesley. We had an inspiring conversation about Bridgeport's future. A memorable evening.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. We had just had dinner and stopped in search of…read moredessert. We selected a Tres Leche cake and two espressos. Customer service was great. The restaurant was so inviting with a mural of Italy with a Vespa and other coffee imagery. They played Italian music. They also sell pizza, gelato, coffee, cakes and canolis. There is a full bar as well. Next time I stop in I'd like to try the pizza.

I am puzzled how there are so many great reviews for this establishment. I arrived at the top of…read morethe lunch hour and while there were a few getting take out, there was no one eating in. Should have been my first clue. The pizzas in the display case all looked enticing (although nothing labeled or priced) and I decided to get a Gramma slice along with the eggplant special listed for the day. I also got the ricotta/spinach bread showcased in the display case. I asked if the eggplant was a platter or a grinder/sandwich, and was told it was a sandwich. Great. Well, there was no grinder, no Italian bread, roll, but what looked to be either pizza or calzone dough made into bread like slices. Interesting. The taste wasn't great and it was difficult to pick up to eat without all falling apart, so I decided to remove the top piece of "bread" and eat it with a fork and knife. There was 1 piece of eggplant, 1 piece on each sandwich half. One. Eggplant Parm is cooked and then the slices layered, and usually there are at least 3-4 layers, but not this. The eggplant had many seeds in it indicating the eggplant is past its prime-not the freshest -and the seeds add a bitter taste. Not pleasing. Gobs of cheese atop the bread, but no Parmesan detected. The ricotta spinach was an inedible unappetizing mess of stringy cheese and overcooked spinach. The Gramma slice was ok but I would not return for this. The decor is great and the service was fine, but the food was not good and ended up in the garbage! Ugh! On street parking in downtown Bridgeport. I will not be returning nor recommending.

We sat at the bar, and I liked how spacious the place is. It has that industrial brewery vibe, a large dining room, and outdoor seating. It's also within walking distance of the arena, so this is a good spot to grab food and drinks and or meet with your group before a concert or event. The pizza is thin crust and has a similar style to New Haven pizza. The flavor was great, but I felt like the center wasn't crispy enough to hold the slice up. It made things a little messy because the middle would flop while eating it. We ordered three small pies so we could try a few different combinations. One was the Weekend Special, which was a red pie with garlic, fresh basil, buffalo mozzarella, pepperoni, meatball, shaved Parmesan, and oregano. The small was $27, which I thought was pretty pricey for the portion. The other two were build your own pie; one white pie with basil and ricotta, and one red pie with pepperoni, meatball, and green pepper. All three pizzas tasted great. My main issue was the texture of the center. I prefer my pizza crispy enough that I can actually pick up a slice without everything sliding or folding over. Service was friendly and attentive enough, although I thought it was a little odd that my bartender disappeared and someone else took over without any explanation. My man tried a few of the beers and enjoyed being able to sample different options, while I went with a margarita flight. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and the pizza was tasty, but I definitely felt the pizzas were overpriced for the size and what you get.

But, sending out pies that were clearly under cooked and trying to rush us in and rush us out is just not cool. Server was very pleasant but overall the experience was not good. Also, small clam pie at $30, way way way over priced for basically 5 clams and cheese on uncooked dough. Second pie no better.

My personal relationship has come to an end today with this establishment, such a shame. All…read morebecause their cashier was rude and unprofessional when I asked her to use the bathroom. I am a mail carrier, who works in the area. Please note, that I had also delivered to them when the regular was out on vacation, this is how I became a customer. I would purchase their personal size cheese pizza almost everyday while doing the route, or if and when in the area. Before leaving, I would use the bathroom, because as mentioned before ... I am a mail carrier with very little access to restrooms on the routes. So today, although I did not make a purchase today, I stopped there this morning to use the restroom. I again then tried to use the bathroom just now 3/2 @ 5pm and the young lady who is the cashier had an attitude and said to me that I basically shouldn't think that I can just come there and use their bathroom, and that I have to be a customer. I explained to her that I am a customer, I just wasn't making a purchase today. She continues to tell me that she's being "nice," and if it were anyone else .. they would tell me no to my face (lmao). I wanted to curse her out so bad, but me being in my uniform didn't allow me to. Anyways, I reiterated myself about me being a customer ... and that I just wasn't making a purchase ... she calls a gentleman over and he's like don't take it personal ... but it was already personal ... I had been spending my money there for a long time, just for you to deny me bathroom access. I told them straight up that they just lost a customer.

Five Star Pizza was in the vicinity of where my son was getting his hair done so I decided to stop in. I been here before but I haven't been here for many years. I ordered a personal pizza which was six dollars but you have to order at least ten dollars of food to use your debit or credit card. The restaurant looked same as I knew it many years ago but with minor upgrades. The pizza was just okay. It wasn't really crispy but the crust was pretty good, and the flavor was there in the sauce. It wasn't bad for a quick meal and especially at that price. I wouldn't go out my way to visit this restaurant but it is a good place to stop if you're hungry and in the area.
