Usually love their food. Big fan of the Crab Cake BLT. My sandwich was up to par but I wouldn't say the same for anything else. Considering we were the only customers there for lunch, I thought the food would be excellent but I was wrong. The meatloaf tasted worse than a microwaveable meal, no sauce, dry tough chunk of imitation meat. And the crab dip was all liquid with no flavor. When I mentioned it to the waitress she agreed it was watered down today but didn't do anything about it. All n all... I was beyond embarrassed that I brought my (out of town) family there. Rather than spending money on more chairs and tables, they need to invest in better chefs and servers. read more

Awesome food! Everything is fresh, large portions and very tasty. Sunday brunch is the best I've had, ever! You have to try their cat head biscuits! Regular menu options are worth exploring - coconut shrimp, seafood sampler platter was really good. The owners are very hands on and ensure your experience is the best. The food was good. The first time I watched as a waitress was outside holding and petting a cat. Then she came in and proceeded to serve drinks and food. The second visit, I watched staff sit behind the bar playing with each other's hair and then go serve food and drinks. It was also raining heavily and we were outdoors. Rain was dripping and then flooded the floor. While they had an A restaurant inspection rating, I suspect it was because it was newly opened for the season and everything was clean. Will have to think twice about another visit. read more

Nice lake dining experience...outdoor style, Huge menu and the food is very good. Burgers are excellent and the hand breaded chix tenders are as good as you'll find anywhere. Tons of draft beer selections - craft and domestic usual stuff....certainly worth a try if your anywhere N of Browns Bridge on the water. Swim suit / flip flop place - if you've tried the other Lake Lanier dock able spots - you need to give Skogies a try - bet you'll be a regular! read more

Not a great experience today. The service was slow with the waitress and assistants seeming overwhelmed, poorly trained and distracted. My brother ordered a cup of gumbo at $4.99 and it came out in a teeny tiny little bowl, maybe 3 or 4 ounces. The location is great but this place can do better. See the post from my wife regarding the "Asian Grouper" on the menu. There technically is no such animal. This is a farm raised catfish, usually from Vietnam or Thailand. read more

My wife and I went by boat today with some friends from out of town and their two children. The breakfast buffet was a hit with the whole crew and we would return. The eggs benedict, bacon and french toast plus the fruit salad were all good as was the service. read more

we love to find casual out of the way places with a kitchen and service that makes us want to come back ... and today felt like our lucky day. the relaxed atmosphere set the mood and every plate was top notch. the boom boom shrimp appetizer is a new personal fave and the surf and turf and fried grouper followed suit. raehe, our server, was there when we needed her but never in our face. perfect, just like the breeze coming off the water. please 'nail the cook's foot to the kitchen floor' and don't change a thing! our thanks for a most enjoyable afternoon. read more

Skogies is the best restaurant on the lake!!!! great food, bar, outdoor, lake, live music, name a better combination. The service is amazing. The owners are super nice and go the extra mile to take care of there guest. Most of the menu if home made food, and they have a delicious brunch buffet from 9-2pm on Sundays. Definitely recommend heading Skogies whenever you get the opportunity!!! read more

Not a good experience at all.. I'm a vegetarian, so finding a place on the lake to eat is hard. We looked on the website for Skogies and saw they had veggie burgers! It was also Sunday, and we saw they had a brunch buffet till 12, and then you could order off the regular menu. We showed up exactly at 12 only to be told that we couldn't order off the regular menu till 2... So we ended up just eating off the brunch buffet. As the vegetarian of the group I was able to eat a cold biscuit and pancake (yes, "pancake" is singular because there was no desire to go back for more).. yum? Not exactly. The friends who ate the other items on the buffet said it was mediocre at best. Also, after about 30 minutes we noticed other people ordering off the regular menu. We asked our "waitress" why people were ordering off the menu when we were told that we couldn't order off the menu till 2. She gave some ridiculous excuse about how the website was wrong and they can't fix it, and that the manager decided it was a good time to serve off the regular menu because more people came in.. Sorry excuse for poor business. Oh, and don't come unless you like flies swarming your food the entire meal. Definitely won't be back. read more

We went for lunch, since we had read such good reviews. We must have been in a different place! First, it is filthy - some of the seating is torn, people have scrawled on the side of the tables and there were flies everywhere. The food was even worse than the decor. The gumbo consisted of very tired pieces of sausage, some vegetables, but I could not find any seafood. The fries were old and tired and the baked beans were cold. Please, for the sake of your digestive systems, stay away. read more

I have not been here in a while, due to personal issues, however, so glad we came up for a bite. We love this place and wish one was closer with the lake view near Lawrenceville. Heather and Tony Jonovitch, the owners are AWESOME, totally 1st class people. The restaurant has an inside eating area and an outside area, so you can totally see the lake and feel the breeze. They have outside entertainment. This is a hidden gem. You can pull up by boat and by car, which is pretty neat. I wish more places were as attentive as Skogies. Try it out and you will not be disappointed. I also found out in talking with Heather that they have a coffee shop attached to the Lawrence Pharmacy as well as a new adventure. We wanted some Southern food and heard about Skogies. So glad that they are open all year. Most lake front places are not in the winter. The guys loved that there are 6 big screen TV's, so they got to watch their games. I ordered the sampler platter to have a variety and the serving size was big. Service was fast and friendly! If you are looking for formal dining, Skogies is not your place. But if you are looking for a casual, comfortable, friendly atmosphere on the lake, then head to Skogies. The owners are super friendly and often stop by to check on you while you are eating if they aren't busy in the kitchen. I have been here a dozen times and the service has been slow maybe twice, but it is always extremely friendly and everyone seems to help each other out when it gets busy. Their food is great and I highly recommend brunch, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, the biscuits (HUGE) are amazing, as are the sweet potato nuggets, apple fritters and sweet potato pancakes. If you are looking for lunch or dinner and aren't a meat/seafood eater, the vegan wrap is my favorite. Whether you get the deep fried or casserole as a side, the mac & cheese is incredible. Don't forget the banana pudding! If I could live off of Skogies' mac & cheese and banana pudding, I would eat nothing else. It's a great, family-friendly atmosphere and is a lot of fun when they have live music. read more

First and last time going here. My wife and I went to enjoy a lunch based on good reviews. Outside deck is nice but dirty...hasn't been cleaned in months. Cobwebs and dirt and leaves everywhere. 100 % better atmosphere if clean. Ordered the crab and shrimp dip app. Chips were fantastic, the dip itself sucked. A congealed mess. Will never try again. Server seemed busy but only 3 other customers there. Ordered the seafood platter, wife ordered cheesesteak/fries. 3 other customers there, took 25 min. to get food! Cheesesteak and fries looked good, seafood platter looked horrible. 16$ for this! No way! Burned hushpuppies, 3 tiny shrimp, fish looked ok. But there's no way it was worth 16$. Maybe $10 with better shrimp. Could get better @ captain D's. No silverware yet, got it a minute after food. Asked to speak with manager/owner. None available. None! Told them that I would pay for cheesesteak and that was it. Truly bad experience. Left upset, hungry, and disappointed. Will not recommend or return. read more
