This was my 2nd visit to Skratch kitchen and it was phenomenal. This is a no frills really delicious Italian restaurant in Bradley beach. Everything was delicious, high quality ingredients and well prepared. We had the Oysters special, Burrata with peach salad, Octopus and calamari, scallops, Tuscan cod, and home made coconut ice cream with melted chocolate. Great restaurant if you're "down the shore." Started with a chopped salad and then followed it with their Chicken Milanese (which was unbelievable). The free-range chicken was paired with wild arugula and eggplant caponata. All of the flavors really came together on this dish. I thought the ambience, pricing, and service were all on point! P.S. This restaurant was very good. We had the stuffed rigatoni and pork chop. For an appetizer we had the rice balls. However, everyone around us was also raving about the food. This place is absolutely headed out of the park for me tonight. It's been on my list for a long time and I'm so glad that I finally made it. Inside your greeted with a warm friendly vibe that is cute and quaint. Out back is a small and welcoming space that is simple yet just perfect for what this place is. The menu has a lot of enticing items on it and there really is something for everybody. We started with a Caesar salad and I have to say it was delicious. The only disappointment is the Parm crouton was burnt. We then had the grilled artichoke appetizer, which is one of the best preparations I've ever had of an artichoke. Our mains were really solid as well. Highly recommend the cioppino that comes in a saffron tomato broth. The chicken Milanese was also a very nice dish and had their own twist on it with the topping. We didn't get to dessert, but we wish we had saved room. Oh, by the way, it's a BYO! Overall, we experienced great food, ambience, and service. I recently visited Skratch Kitchen for dinner while I was visiting the area with family. It is such a charming restaurant, especially the back patio area, and the food is truly exceptional. We ordered the calamari, artichoke appetizer, linguini with clams, spaghetti with meatballs, NY strip steak, and soft shell crab entree. Everything was delicious. I'm a snob when it comes to linguini with clams, as it's one of my favorite dishes of all time. I can say that the version at Skratch is one of the best I've ever tasted. The staff members are all so nice as well and were so friendly and welcoming. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in town! read more

I have been here several times now since my last review over a year. You need to make reservations even in the winter months. For appetizer we ordered the calamari salad which was a large tentacle with olives and capers. My daughter and I ordered the special, squid ink pasta with lobster, shrimp and Scallops. So good and such a generous portion. Her hubby enjoyed the bolognese saying it was so flavorful and such a filling meal. My hubby found the Octopus and Calmari just as good as the first time. One of my locale favorites! In this visit we had a Burrata special with pears, pomegranate and pistachios. I had the Fusili (same as the Trofie I had in summer 2022 when they opened - pasta with pesto, burst tomatoes, artichoke hearts); despite the tomato's not being very "burst," the dish was saucier than I remember - and it was delicious! My husband enjoyed the Stuffed Rigatoni and Shrimp but wished the shrimp were deveined. We split the Chocolate Bundino for dessert which was the perfect finish to the meal! read more

After a day at the beach, we were all craving an early dinner and took to Yelp to find a spot that looked good. Skratch Kitchen was super close by and the menu looked right up everyone's alley. It was an easy choice! When they say outside seating, don't think sidewalk. We were led around back to a little shaded oasis that was so comfortable, cozy and honestly could not have been more perfect. If it's a nice day out, I would ask to sit out there. The menu had a little bit of everything: pasta, salads, seafood, chicken. It was definitely on the pricey side with most entrees $30+, but portions were big and everything was delicious. Three of us got the grilled artichoke to start. Delicious and really not like any grilled artichoke I've had before. They were wrapped in prosciutto with a sweet goat cheese. Almost looked like three perfect lamb chops. I got the linguine clams and the chicken savoy and split both. I honestly don't know what I loved more. The linguine clams were so delicious and loved the bits of cauliflower and guanciale. Every little bit was devoured. The chicken savoy was so tasty as well. It was soft chicken thighs covered in sweet and hot peppers. They defintiley gave the dish a kick, so if you are not a fan of heat, just ask for it without the hot peppers. Just a note that you will need to like vinegar (luckily I love it). So if you are looking for a good meal and are okay with it being on the pricier side, I would recommend. read more

Two of us came here on a Tuesday night to celebrate my wife's birthday. To start we shared an order of Grilled Shrimp. The accompanying salsa/salad tasted fresh with lots of flavors. The shrimp were seasoned just right and were an excellent counterpoint. For dinner, my spouse had the Eggplant cutlet. It was akin to a Milanese style so a rather simple dish which she was very happy with. I had an off menu pasta special with shrimp and asparagus tips in a pink sauce which was delicious. For dessert, our wait staff suggested the carrot cake and it was great, accompanied with cinnamon ice cream. Despite a sophisticated atmosphere, you could faintly here '80s alternative music coming over the speaker system. I'm a fan so I loved that. Our waitress and hostess were both charming and accommodating. A nice touch was that the chef/owner came out of the kitchen to check on each table. We will definitely be back. read more

Then, we had the tuna appetizer and the artichokes appetizer. The tuna was ok, but lacked flavor. The artichokes were covered in prosciutto, but not the good prosciutto- too salty. For entrees we had the shrimp and grits- my husband loved it. I had the octopus and calamari. The octopus was overcooked, and the potatoes were undercooked. We stumbled on this place searching for a good restaurant in the Bradley Beach area and so glad we did, we loved it. It's small inside but the feeling you get is cozy, with a warm and inviting decor. The service was friendly and attentive, especially the hostess who made us feel right at home as soon as we walked in. It's a BYOB so after our waitress opened our bottle of wine we perused the menu and specials and decided to go with one of the specials for our app, the Fried Oysters over mascarpone grits, topped with bourbon brown butter and crispy prosciutto crumbles. This was delicious, the oysters were fried perfectly and the grits were outstanding, flavorful and creamy. For our mains, my wife went with the Pappardella Bolognese, homemade pasta ribbons, beef, veal, pork, Barolo mirepoix, plum tomato cream, parmigiana and ricotta. My wife loves to order this type of dish and really knows what she likes and she absolutely loved it. The fresh pasta, the meats and cheeses and the authentic sauce, everything was cooked to perfection. For me, I love my pork chops and when I saw the Pork Chop Country Style on the menu, I had to get it. Served with sausage, onions, potatoes, marinated peppers and rosemary, the pork chop was amazing, tender, juicy and the rest of the dish complimented it perfectly, so flavorful. Well when our hostess said when we came in, make sure you get the dessert, we couldn't leave without trying one of their great offerings. We decided to go with the Pistachio infused Tiramisu with homemade whipped cream, pistachio nuts and coffee liqueur. Let me tell you, not only was this dessert delicious it was so huge we couldn't finish it and had to literally take it home. This was a first, never took a dessert home before. This is such a great restaurant, even found out Guy Fieri did a show here and featured the Cajun Clams and the Chicken Savoy which we will surely try next time we come. We can't wait. read more

Such an utter lack of consideration for their customers. We made an outdoor reservation, 2 adults and a 2 year old, but it was about to storm. We showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation and They have no backup plan for outdoor seating. We were told by the hostess that there was a table that had not confirmed their reservation and if they didn't show up, we could take their indoor table. Great! They didn't show up and we were seated at an indoor table. As soon as we sat, the hostess came up and said "don't worry. this table is yours. It's past their 15 min grace period. You're good." Within a few minutes that party showed up, and (after already taking our water order) we were told we had to get up and wait for another table... we were already seated, my toddler was in her seat and coloring. We were told that we could either get up and wait for a table that was having dessert or move to a 2 top... if the table next to it was OK WITH IT because we had a toddler We were gaslit and said we were the lowest priority as an outdoor reservation.... Direct quote from the waitress.... We were treated like an inconvenience for being early for our reservation during a thunderstorm with a toddler. We left the restaurant as a result of this blatant disrespect, and we will never, EVER, go back again. Shame on this staff. Shame. read more

Do not eat outside. You can get very wet during rain and it will be very hot. Service was great as Stevie made sure we knew the specials and never left us wanting. Food is uneven as Chicken Milanese was dry and lacked flavor while trigger fish was tasty. Appetizers are mixed as you wonder how they charge $21 for 3 small dry fried oysters. Bread is old and should have been made into pudding. They print a special menu for specials and dessert but don't include prices. Ask for prices as our meal cost about $80 per person and this is BYOB. While enjoying our coffee, the manager asked if we could leave as they needed the table. We had been there about 2:30 but thought we would be treated better for the cost. Other area options will be considered in the future. read more

First, the dining area is nicely appointed and with a cozy feel. The hostess and our waitress were on top of their game--very hospitable and the waitress was well-versed about the menu and specials. Prices were comparable with other restaurants. Between the specials and the main menu, there is something for everyone. That said, this is where our experience wasn't so good, as we were there for the food more than the ambience. We each ordered off of the specials. I had the Jamaican Jerk Pork Tenderloin and my friend had the Veal Osso Buco. The pork tenderloin was tender with a bit of a kick. But unfortunately it had a very salty sauce that ruined it. It was hard to scrape the sauce off. The sauce also ran into a bit of the mashed potatoes (which tasted strongly of sour cream or vinegar), and the roasted vegetables (which were good). The veal did fall off the bone, but most of it was stringy, as if over-done. The polenta underneath it was okay, but nothing to elevate it to great. The bread was crusty and very good, but the olive oil dip did not have rosemary or garlic. It was plain but good olive oil. It's BYOB and they do provide an ice bucket. This was our first time at Skratch, and maybe it was an off-night (it was a Saturday and only 5:30 pm. Not all tables were filled). We just expected an amazing or even a very good experience, food-wise. read more
