I'm sure you've driven past this place numerous times. The location is off 700 east and in a shopping center on 2100 south. If your driving left on 21st then your going to have to make a u turn like your going back to 700 east again. Sky nails is on the north side of the road along with the shopping center. This loses them a star for inconvenience of how to get there but once inside it's great. Very clean as Kate, the owner does permanent makeup which is very good btw not these horror stories you see that have done it out of a nail salons. She's been doing it over twenty years. Anyway she also does eyelash extensions and of course nails. I usually go in for her other services but I was in bad need of a pedicure so I booked Sunday. Which I had no idea she was open but great. I was the only one there until I was almost done so it was nice to have peace and quiet but she runs a kids video along with music and it's too much. I wish she would turn off the video until kids were in the salon and they needed entertainment. But the lady who did my pedicure had me in bliss and she got my ingrown toenails without making me bleed which usually never happens. I got a great massage and get this all for $30 bucks! Shellac is more of course but I wanted regular nail polish. It did smudge a little but not her fault. Great massage chairs too that really massage and not just shake you around or poke and protrude you! Sky nails has been around for a really long time and I'm finally glad I tried nails. read more

First time I had my nails done by Kate. She did a shellac pedicure and shellac manicure. I was totally happy and she did amazing job. Today I went in to have a shellac pedi and manicure with just paint. The little girl didn't speak English. My water was cold, I asked for the water to be turned up but she couldn't understand me. She tried to Shellac my hands and started painting my toes the wrong color. All those things could be fixed if could have understood me. But the worst thing that happened today was that she cut a chunk of my toenail off and it was bleeding. .... The owner said I need to ask for that not to be done......HAHA.......Why would I have to ask their, none english speaking employee not to cut a chunk out of my nail??? This didn't happen when Kate did my pedi. I really wanted to love this place but today's experience makes me wonder ........ Hopefully I don't get an infection in my toe. read more

I was looking to get my nails and a pedicure done, and called ahead to see if there was space. They said yes, so I rushed over. When I got there they said it would be a 10-minute wait. I proceeded to get a nail sampling shoved at me, and the man directing things while doing nails was yelling at other patrons. After about 12-minutes, he yelled at me to go wash my hands. With no other direction or asking specifically what I wanted. After watching him scream at other patrons and then being treated so rudely, I expressed that his behavior was unacceptable and walked out the door. This could be the best nail place in the city, and I will never know because I refuse to give money to rudeness. Can't say anything about their actual work, just the manner in which I was treated. read more

What a disappointment! I walked in and was asked to pick a color. They took me on time, which was nice. Most of the nail polish bottles looked old and half full. The floor and baseboard in the shop were dirty. They don't use plastic liners, so I was hesitant to put my feet in the water. I hope I don't get nail fungus! The woman used a cheese grater to soften my heels!!! No joke!!! Then I walked out with polish on a few parts of my skin, and an overall bad job. I had an appt with my boyfriend for 3:30 for pedicures, I didn't get seated until almost 4, they didn't even tend to my boyfriend and I told him to sit next to me on my own. They put his feet in water and he sat there with no one tending to him for 30 min. The next available employees took the other walk-ins over him when we had a scheduled appointment. Our times as customers was not valued at all and we were told by the owner to have scheduled during the week instead of the weekend. Well folks, it seems as though I walked into Sky Nails during Amateur Hour because today's visit was terrible. Don't take this as a vindictive, angry yelp post. Take this as a truthful account of what just happened. Walked in around 1pm and was asked to come back later because they "were behind". It's Sunday, I have time; I'm merely thankful they're one of the few places in town offering their services today. I came back around 3pm, in which Kate "helped" me for an eyebrow wax. I've been growing out mine for about a month or so, in hopes of getting an arch shaped out by wax. At a kind request, I asked if she may arch the brow. She snapped back with the fact that there wasn't enough hair to do so with, "Don't touch your eyebrows for two months." Great! Thanks for talking to me like a child. I retorted with "Okay, you're probably right." Regardless, she continued to grace me with her services, aka ATTITUDE. Now, normally a proficient waxer is going to make sure you're comfortable and ask you move your face when need be. The right thing to do is also trim whatever overgrown hairs may interrupt the goal look of the afternoon post-waxing. She poked and pushed my face and plucked the ends of the hair which makes a simple procedure feel closer to chopping your eyebrows at La Guillotine. When she was done, she let me know: "You're done". She didn't wipe off my face, nothing. I was confused. No mirror handed over to ask, "How does it look?" Or, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" Or, "Come back in two months after its grown. I'll arch it for you." She said, "You're done", and walked away. I had no idea what my brows looked like and proceeded to walk over to pay. I handed her my card which she swiped and she even threw my card and the receipt down. Of course I tipped her, I am not a horrible human being, but my goodness. I left pissed and embarrassed for even trying. Sky Nails, you've lost me. After so many check ins, I consider you a waste of space and will never come back. One pathetic star for your piss poor attitude employee and for being a huge let down on what was supposed to be a nice day. read more

I called a few places in town for a pedicure and facial waxing. I'm glad I found this place as it fit just right for my budget. Most other spa's I called off of Google were very pricy. The Vietnamese man who gave me a pedicure was very patient, took his time and did a great job. He didn't speak much English but I could tell he is trying to make conversation, which is good. My usual experience at this type of nail places in DC is that the workers there speak in their language the whole time laughing and I never know what they are talking about in lengthy conversations. The foot massage was really nice, I felt very relaxed. The lady who did the waxing was very patient, after my pedicure, she even checked my face to make sure I didn't have any reaction to the wax. Walked in to a wonderful experience with a friendly staff. I will be coming back for all of my manicures and pedicures.

My normal salon is closed for renovation so I came here in desperation. I went in and asked for clear acrylics. I get this done all the time at salons all over Utan and other western states. She starts putting on some heavy opaque peach acrylic and I stop to ask if this will be clear when filed. She says no but it will look more natural. I tell her that I really want clear. So she leaves the nail she's already done as is (I'm assuming she's waiting for it to dry so she can file it down and start over). After some chatting with another tech in a foreign language, about what powder to use, I ask if she wants me to find a picture. She says yes and I pull one up. She says ok grabs the new powder--seeming to finally understand what I want. . She starts in on the next nail with the new powder and I'm thinking to myself that it's looking awful. BUT having had my nails done a lot over the years AND having just complained about the acrylic color I decide to just see how it turns out. There have been many times that I've been very happily surprised once the topcoat goes on. But no. These nails look awful. You can see all the lines of the tips and the odd spots where the glue didn't make contact or left a bubble. And there are other odd lines that I can't identify. Plus she used pink powder and it looks red. It looks like my nail beds are infected or something. THEN she never gets back to that nail she did with the wrong powder. She just leaves it and starts filing in it. I ask if she's going to redo that one and she says she can't. Wtf? Ok so I'm pissed. It's looking shitty but I'm 40 min deep into this now and I'm not sure what to do. She's completely ignoring my less that subtle hints that I am NOT happy. I will NEVER go here again. Omg. This is literally the worst mani/pedi I've ever had. I have had the worst experience in Slc for nails!!! HELP! Some dude who I'm am SURE had no license whatsoever did my nails. This stay is so unfriendly I almost walked out. The owner is rude to his employees, talks down to them and undermines their work. You can tell who was new and who was not. The season employee was rude to customers and more worried about her makeup. The lady who did my pedi was nice and friendly, but cut my cuticles and were bleeding, now the following day their hurt like hell. All I got was are you ok? The cleaning was mediocre, they mopped the area by the spa chairs with a dirty wet mop. The biggest thing for me was how the owners treated the employees and myself as if I couldn't pay for a pedi with gel. I won't go back. read more
