Continuing heading east on Hwy 2, I decided to detour and check out Sky River Coffee before continuing to the Stevens Pass summit (9/21/23). Skykomish is a pleasant, walkable small town with a beautiful view, despite scorched areas from earlier wildfires. Sky River Coffee is located at the street level corner of the historical Skykomish Hotel built in 1904. Immediately received a genuine welcoming greeting from the counter person/barista upon entering. Very personable to the folks already onsite, myself, and the several others who arrived after me. My mocha was well crafted in a nice mug. I also enjoyed a delicious berry and cream cheese pastry while I sat onsite taking in the cafe's ambiance. There's assorted beverages, pastries, merch, and tasteful indoor decor. There's indoor and outdoor seating, including a children's area, some areas for table games, and for perusing hiking guides. Also, it seems as a welcomed restroom stop. I really enjoyed this standout indie cafe. Refreshed with caffeine, some sustenance, and kind conversation, I continued onward beyond Stevens Pass, through Leavenworth to Cashmere. Definitely recommended!

Super cute coffee shop. Wasn't expecting much when we came into town but this coffee shop was a pleasant surprise. Gingerbread Chai and the Maple Nut Latte (both seasonal drinks) were amazing. Definitely stop by for your coffee fix!

Service dogs are welcome, pets have a place outside.

WARNING about this place - once you have their coffee, you won't want to ever drink Starbucks again. Mo (owner) and Tori are the BEST baristas and bring customer service to a whole new level. The place is clean and contemporary with comfortable seating and a fireplace. Food choices are limited but excellent. Prices are very fair. There is a sweet little kid corner in the back as well as a big deck outside. There is a lovely small mountain town vibe and if you are lucky and time it just right, you'll get to see Mo run outside and dance for the passing train.

Stopped in for coffee on the way to and fro Leavenworth. Found this locally owned, friendly coffee shop. Great espresso drinks, baked goods and a very comfortable place to relax. Only about a 1 minute drive off Highway 2 and over the river but exudes small town charm and friendliness. Clean bathrooms, Wi-Fi, a toddlers play table, mellow gas fireplace. The interior is freshly remodeled in a historic building. Last chance for good coffee before heading over the pass!

I specifically was seeking out Sky River Bakery on 3/15/25. I lucked out with a nearby parking spot and had an opportunity to check out the pastry case offerings while in line. There's also a few tables to dine at onsite. Pleasant small town, neighborhood feel. Both folks behind the counter were welcoming and kindly answered my questions. Nice assortment of beverages and baked goods available like biscuits, cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, and other pastries. The person ahead of me made it a point to have biscuits and gravy plus cinnamon rolls to go. Cinnamon roll got my attention! I ended up ordering a ham & cheese biscuit - got two mini ones for the price of one, plus a cinnamon roll. The latter kept really well refrigerated which I later ate for breakfast before work during the week. Nice that it was a manageable size and not too cloying with glaze...Goldilocks just right, lol. Enjoyed this destination detour and thanks to fellow Yelp Elites, Craig and Earnie for putting this on my radar screen!

On day one, my friend and I made a pitstop during a bike ride and split the marionberry pop tart which was huge and as delicious as it sounds - flaky and not overly sweet. The next day, we went back and shared the cinnamon bun (which lives up to the hype) and a slice of quiche that was flavorful, filling, and a great balance of hearty and light. I also ordered a hot latte which gave me the energy I needed for another day of exploring! The service was a little hit or miss - friendly but inconsistent. I can understand, though, as this place gets busy and the employees were very clearly working hard to keep up with orders. I appreciated the day old bin which is not only budget friendly but perfect for PCT hikers! The Stehekin Pastry Company felt like a true community hotspot as I saw locals, visitors, and PCT thru-hikers all gathering over coffee and baked goods. All in all, Stehekin Pastry Company is pretty much a must visit when you're in Stehekin. There is great food and a great atmosphere in one of the most beautiful, remote places you may ever visit. We had been noticing this bakery for a while since we'd driven past it many times on our way to hikes, and we finally got to try it today. I had a breakfast muffin. It was great, very simple yet tasty. At first I thought one muffin might not be enough, but glad that was wrong, I was about 80% full after eating it. My partner got the avocado omelette, it came with toast and hash browns. We were surprised by how fluffy and soft the toast was, definitely the best toast we've had at any breakfast spot. He said the omelette was tasty too. We also grabbed some coffee and pastries before we left. I had a spicy German sausage and a chocolate bar, my partner got an apple fritter and an apple pull apart. I had the chocolate bar later after our hike. It was sweet and fluffy, not too heavy since I had it with coffee. Then I had the German sausage for dinner. The sausage was actually spicy, not just a mild black pepper kind of American European spicy, but a real deal spicy. I loved it! Staffs in the bakery were very friendly and attentive too. I'm glad I got to support such a lovely local business. This place is a solid one.

The bakery is old and small with limited seating, which actually reminds us of the authentic grab-and-go spots in Germany. We always go for the Bienenstich (bee sting cake). The server at the counter was really sweet and helpful; she cut us a big 'ole slice knowing we were sharing. We devoured that incredible slice, which delivered a perfect bite of creamy vanilla custard nestled between soft yeast cake and a crunchy, caramelized honey-almond topping. The contrast of the smooth filling and the sticky, nutty 'sting' makes for a truly memorable dessert experience, perfect every time. We also snagged a mini pretzel loaf. We were only missing mustard, but honestly, my husband said it was so good it didn't even need anything. It was fun to see the baker hard at work making bread, and the whole place smelled amazing. The coolest thing about this spot seems to be their rotating specials year round! The lucky charms cold foam my book bestie described from their last year's St. Patrick's day menu sounded drool-worthy. I was super excited to try their Valentine's day offerings. The woman at the counter who took my order was so sweet. She helped me put together the perfect custom drink for me: a 16 oz oat milk dark chocolate mocha with raspberry syrup and raspberry cold foam on top! It was delicious, I loved how fluffy and sweet the cold foam was and the dark chocolate in the mocha was delectably rich. I was also super excited about their diverse pastry selection! I've never seen a raspberry cornetto before and I was super excited to order it. I loved that it was literally like having a croissant with jam which is one of my fave breakfasts! One of my pet peeves is when croissants are too flaky and hard to tear apart with your fingers, but this one was super easy to tear apart and eat, though it still was fairly messy. The cosy atmosphere made it easy for me and my book bestie to spend hours chatting over our drinks. I love the huge windows that allow for so much natural light an incredible view of Mount Sci. I'd definitely love to come back with my watercolours and paint it. Since this is my book bestie's fave coffee shop spot, I'm sure we'll be back here soon!
