An absolutely unforgettable experience from start to finish! As a first-time skydiver, I had a lot of nerves, but after speaking with one of the owners on the phone beforehand, I felt completely at ease. He took the time to answer all my questions, explain the process, and reassure me. My partner, who has skydived before, was also impressed by the professionalism, and care of this family (brothers) veteran-owned business. From the moment we arrived , we watched another group land, seeing first hand the entire team in action (and the excitement of the land). It was clear that they truly love what they do, and their passion shows in how they treat each guest. Though small plane, small airport, safety was clearly the top priority, but they also made sure we fully embraced the experience. Total admission, as the ride up in the small plane was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. Anthony kept me calm and reassured as the ground got farther and farther away, checking in and making sure ready. Once the door opened came the moment--I was not prepared for the power of the wind and noise of it all, but that is was when it all became real. Stepping to the edge and taking the leap was an indescribable moment. But the second we were in freefall, the fear melted away, replaced by the most awe-inspiring experience I've ever had. The views as far as Austin were absolutely breathtaking, and once the parachute opened, there was a peacefulness I never expected. Dangling above the world (yes dangling), taking it all in, was nothing short of magical. If you've ever thought about skydiving but felt unsure, this is the place to do it. Been here twice, and I'm still alive, have not lost a piece of skin or nail (well, lost several toe nails, but definitely got nothing to do with Skydive Temple so rest assured), so, I freaking love them!!!! Being the cheap Asian that I am, I got the deals from Groupon both times, but they are great at offering other discounts as well on certain day of the week, military, or group discount. The process starts with signing your life away, which takes about 5mins and technically you acknowledging in the worst case scenario, Skydive Temple cannot be held accountable for the incident basically. So I hope you got a nice life insurance policy already. Gotta prepare for the worst and hope for the best you know. Next they bring you to the locker room, explain the whole process to you, your instructor/tandem partner would introduce himself/herself and get to know you a lil bit. Most of the staff here are airborne or ex military so they're very military friendly. Don't let the tough appearances scare you off. They're very nice and easy to talk to.....Next you put on their colorful jumpsuit and slip on the nuts tight harness, if you got any ;). Depends on how busy they are at the time, you would either go straight to the plane from there or wait in the back patio until your turn. You depart and come back from and to the same big landing zone not far from there. They have switched to a smaller plane the second time I came here. Might not seem very safe or stable at first, but hey, you're already prepared to jump out of a perfectly good plane anyway right? Your instructor would not hook u up to him/her until it's close to the time to exit the plane. If you've never done skydiving before and worried to death the feeling of falling, don't be. You would not experience that at all. If anything it's the split first half a second after you exit, the sudden but not unexpected drop, after that, you'll literally feel like you're flying and just wish it'd last much longer. Once the parachute opens, you can even get the option to control/direct it too. Your instructor would tell you exactly what to do, especially for the landing part, just listen to them and do what they say so you could score a cool landing on your feet instead of your butt. The fun does not end there. They offer all you can drink beer after you have landed. Yes, you heard me correctly. ALL YOU CAN DRINK BEER!!!!!!!!! Can't get any better than that! Just don't get too hammered and end up sleeping in their parking lot. And nope, that hasn't happened to me, yet. If it's your first time, I highly recommend getting the video and still pictures option as well. Look up on their website for days that they offer discount on those. It's worth saving the memory or just to show off that you were nut enough to jump out of a perfectly good plane at over 10,000ft up in the air ;) read more

Wow, what an experience. I decided to take my sister as a surprise birthday gift for her 35th birthday. She is an adrenaline junkie (I am not)...but nonetheless, we arrived at Skydive Temple and were immediately impressed with the warmth and humor of everyone. We were greeted quickly upon opening the door, which was nice. As silly as it sounds, it is intimidating enough to walk into a place like this already full of nerves about what you are about to do--so it was nice to quickly have someone introduce themselves. I wish I remembered this gentleman's name! We signed some waivers and before we knew it, we were watching an instructional video (with some hilarious commentary by another great staff member). My sister was paired up with Aaron, and I had Mark. These two dudes were freakin' AWESOME. Their instructions were clear, they made jokes the whole time, and you could tell they really, really cared about our experience and us having a great time. Going up in the plane was scary because you knew there was no going back at that point. The journey a few miles up was really pleasant--these guys are pros at this. They make conversation, keep making jokes, and give you very clear and specific instructions on everything. The most comforting thing I heard was from Mark when he said, "If you forget everything I've just told you, that is ok. I will do everything for you, you are just here to have a good time." Both our jumps went well and were totally exhilarating!! What an incomparable and incredible feeling--one I will never forget! After we landed, we were quickly escorted back to change and get comfortable. My sister and I opted to sit outside and enjoy some drinks and snacks we brought. (They have vending machine-type stuff you can buy or you can bring your own stuff!) They also have free beer! It was really enjoyable to sit on the patio and watch other folks take off and land as we recounted our experience. The last thing I will comment on is the video. I was pretty staunchly against buying the video package due to the price...but I changed my mind and they created and edited a lovely video in just 20 minutes or so. I have shared that video all over the place--with family, with friends, at work. I myself have watched it maybe 10 times now and am so thankful that I paid to get it. I had a blast skydiving with the Skydive Temple crew! This is my 2nd time skydiving and I had a great first time experience to compare in Santa Cruz, CA; and I can pretty much say this is just as a wonderful (if not more) experience. I originally booked it on Friday, but then changed the date to Wednesday instead after I saw the poor weather on Friday. The staff was very responsive and accommodating communicating with me via email. And I lucked out when I got all of the individual attention on my day to skydive since I was the only one for that day. Overall, Scott (the owner, Wendy (skydiving instructor, and Lewis (my tandem skydiving partner) were a joy to be around and had made my 2nd time skydiving experience an absolute best experience. Additionally, the video and photos they took of me and the experience were super awesome. I highly recommend Skydive Temple for anyone who's looking for a little bit excitement in their life; and if I had the time I would have signed up for their 2-day courses to become a licensed skydiver. :) read more

I have been wanting to do this for my 50th birthday for a long time. So it was a total shock once I was told where I was going and what I was doing. This was one of the best birthdays I've had in a very long time. And this is the best gift that had been given to me. To be able to fly and be in Aaron's office. I was able to get on a tandem jump with one of the free spots offered to veterans each quarter. I was airborne qualified in the military so I have always wanted to try something different than static line jump cause that's just no fun. I had arrived an hour early cause I didn't know what the traffic was gonna be like coming from Austin. The whole process of video brief, suiting up and getting on the plane was pretty quick and efficient. My tandem partner was Scott and he had all kinds of dad jokes to help break up the silence when we're in the plane. Once we hit 10,000 ft, it was about 2 minutes before we're out the door. I tried to find the videoagrapher Aaron when we're free falling but I didn't want to move my hands around too much in case it gets in Scott's way :D. Luckily Aaron was still able to get some cool shots and videos of me. There was so much air time when the chute opened that it was ridiculous. Scott was able to show me some maneuvers while we're in the air. I didn't get too crazy cause I get motion sickness pretty easily. The landing was amazing. I'm so used to plopping onto the ground like a wet noodle that I wasn't expecting to just float down on my butt. It was a great experience and I highly recommend Skydive Temple to anyone who's looking to sky dive. read more

I'm sure this place is an amazing choice to go solo skydiving. Unfortunately their administrative team leaves much to be desired. I made a reservation online a week in advance to go skydiving with my girlfriend. She is very shy so we needed to do tandem jumps together. Logically, I left a note on my reservation mentioning the above and that we would need to reschedule otherwise. Low and behold, I call to check the weather and they inform me they only have one instructor and we would have to jump one at a time. This was completely unacceptable not only because we gave advance notice (btw they only check the notes on the day of the jump) but also because we didnt have time to wait for 2 seperate jumps. Instead of working towards an agreement, the person on the phone very unapologetically said we'll be charged $100 for a no show and even charged my card the no show fee one hour before our scheduled reservation. If they cannot accommodate your special request, they will not notify you in time to cancel. I hope you paid with american express. read more

I learned about Sky Dive Temple by driving past a billboard. So right away I scheduled an appt because I've always wanted to go. So first things first. I went online to the website SkyDiveTemple.Com. The website was very user friendly and self explanatory. I scheduled everything for March 18th. Thursday, because they have a deal for jumping on Thursday's. I scheduled myself and my boyfriend for a tandem skydive. So the day arrives and its verrry cloudy. I gave them a call like the website suggested to do on cloudy and the lady informed me that it was too cloudy to jump today due to safety concerns, and that they would keep an eye out on the weather and give me a call back if it clears up. The appt was for 11am. By 3pm she called me back telling me that the clouds have subsided and its a perfect day to jump. So me Andy boyfriend jumped in the car went straight there. After arriving, and checking in. We were greated by our instructors Aaron and Shelby. They were both AWESOME!!!!! They made me feel completely comfortable. They were both very knowledgeable on the ins and outs of sky diving. After a short interview for our videos we were headed outside and into the aircraft. We were introduced to everyone and felt like family. They both did an awesome job filming with the go pros and both my boyfriend and I videos and pictures came out amazing!!!!! Everyone there was nice, friendly, and welcoming! We got free beer after the jump and were able to sit and watch our videos before we left. This place was top notch from A to Z!! read more

I should have written this a while ago. This place is amazing and they make you feel right at home. My son and I came here to do a Tandem jump and I was scared out of my mind. One of the jumpers or employees (I'm not sure) there; I think his name was Craig saw that I was shaking and came over to talk to me. He calmed me down and showed me some funny videos of him and his wife jumping. the dude even gave up his seat on a ride to stay with me until I felt better. I can't say I was completely relieved but that guy really helped me. He even talked to my son about skydiving for free because he was military. That guy was cool. Then Loise my instructor was very confident and talked to me the entire plane ride. Pheww, I jumped and it was amazing. Definitely go here if you're looking to jump for your first time. read more

Before we arrived at the location in Salado I had gone through several emotions with this place. I went skydiving a year earlier in Australia and it was probably the best experience I could have possibly had. When I heard my dad say he's "always wanted to skydive" I knew I had to take him once I got back in the states and had the money! ;) Being safe was very important to him. He had a friend break both her legs several years ago, (that was back when you could jump alone) so I wanted to make sure the landing was as smooth as possible. I was very impressed with Skydive Temple when I e-mailed them expressing my concern. They promptly responded explaining that the landing is perfectly safe and nearly all the work is done by the person strapped to you. I made a phone call to reserve a spot on Thursdays (they give a discount on Thursdays- $190 a jump). I knew they went up in pretty small planes, so I asked if it would just be me and my dad. She said "Well, there's no guarantee that you'll actually be with him." ... Um... ok? Why not? She just kept saying "I'm sorry... we just can't guarantee it." Well, that kind of upset me, because if I showed up to go skydiving with my dad and they split us up I'd get pretty pissed! After me saying "OK, this sounds really stupid and I'd like to hear an actual reason for splitting us up" she finally explained that if there were three groups of two people, they would split the middle group up and take three people in two planes. OK, that makes a little more sense. So then I asked if I could actually reserve a spot with my dad. And she said no. What?! That's so stupid! I asked why, and she said "we just can't". I really don't like it when they don't explain things to me. So then I said "If I call 48 hours in advance to see if there are two other groups of two would I be able to cancel and reschedule another day without being charged?" and she said "yes". Ok... I feel like this tense conversation could have been avoided, but oh well. I reserved a spot and we showed up on a Thursday. Everything went smoothly from there. Phil was my instructor and made me feel very calm (ha! yeah right) and safe. My boyfriend came with us and they told him he could go up in the plane for $30! (Also something that would have been nice to know over the phone). The overall experience was great. The landing was smooth and the harness was fine. I know my dad had a great time and so did I! And we had complimentary shiner bock after the jump! Although I was pretty disappointed with the lack of information they gave me over the phone, the people were nice and everything was safe. The safety is the most important thing here, and I was satisfied with that. And it was FUN too! read more

Looking for something really cool to do in Austin? If you've never been skydiving before, Austin is lucky enough to have Skydive Temple just an hour's drive north. I went to Skydive Temple this weekend and had the ride of my life! Get over whatever trepidation you have about the dangers of skydiving and put this on your short list of ways to have a blast with a friend or group in the Austin area. First of all, you don't have to worry about doing something stupid like not pulling the ripcord in time or landing in a tree. First-timers do what's called a tandem jump with an experienced jumpmaster. Like a giant version of one of those forward-facing parent harnesses for babies, you're strapped onto the front of a seasoned jumper who takes care of all of the important stuff. So what really happens? After a quick training video and signing the necessary liability release forms, you suit up, get some quick instruction on what's going to happen, and then head to the plane for an 11,000 ft. ascent. From there, you and your jumpmaster step onto a special platform under the wing, count to three and experience one of the most thrilling six minutes of your life. Along the way you get an incredible feeling of what it's like to fly, with the rush of air, breathtaking views, and the exhilaration of the parachute deploying, followed by the peaceful and quiet descent through the clouds, ending with exciting high-speed banking turns before a soft landing back on terra firma. Very few experiences have even come close in comparison and would certainly cost much more than the $190 per person cost. Sure there's risk, but I was genuinely impressed by the qualifications of the jumpmasters (40+ year-old adults, some with decades of experience), the safety features built into modern skydiving equipment, and was pleased to know that statistically the drive to Salado was a FAR greater gamble on my life than making a jump. The folks at Skydive Temple were super-professional, very experienced and made the entire experience so enjoyable. From the moment I stepped onto the plane until the time I landed safely on the ground, my jumpmaster had me at complete ease, keeping me informed about what was going to happen, and enjoying it every bit as much as I was. The location is a bit hidden even though it's right off of I-35, and even though the place is called Skydive Temple, it's physically located in Salado, TX. The website's instructions were right on though, and took me right to the entrance. I got the impression by the facilities that skydiving isn't a big money-earning or franchised enterprise, but the place is clean, well-lit and run by pros that are passionate about sharing their sport with others. The equipment is in good condition and the plane, while admittedly tiny inside, could still accommodate two guests at a time (with their tandem jumpmasters, too). Even though the planes are small, they can turn around quite a few jumpers in a few hours, so it makes a good option for small groups looking to do something together. And when you get done there's a snack bar and as much free Shiner Bock as you want to celebrate the occasion. I thought the pricing was more than reasonable for the adrenaline rush. And for $100 extra you can even have a videographer jump along side for a memento of the experience. Skydive Temple gets my highest rating and I hope to go back with friends soon. Tempted? read more

**Fair warning - brevity isn't my thing** I had always thought there was just a certain type of person who did "crazy and reckless" things like skydiving. I mean...I'm pretty boring and risk-averse. So when a friend of mine found a Google deal and sent out a message through Facebook asking if anyone wanted to go skydiving with him....I have no idea what came over me but it opened a door and I told him I was interested. You can imagine my husband's shock when I told him I wanted to skydive. He asked me if I was okay or if there was something going on that he needed to know about. I don't think any of my friends expected me to actually go through with it. My husband wasn't sure he wanted to do it. He said something about jumping out of a so-called perfectly good airplane just didn't sound right to him and he said it felt so risky. I quickly reminded him that numbers don't lie and he does things regularly that are statistically much more dangerous than skydiving, like driving on I-35 in either his car or his motorcycle. Then I had something of an epiphany at a group psychotherapy conference the weekend after we started talking about this (I lead group therapy for a living.) I'll spare you the psychobabble but essentially it became clear that my badass, risktaker side was very, very, very underdeveloped. So I decided that day that I was going to jump out of an airplane come hell or high water. I worried at first that my physical difference (I'm an above-the-elbow amputee due to cancer at age 16) would preclude me from jumping. I called one morning and spoke to the owner, Mark, who not only said it wouldn't be a problem but also told me his brother is an amputee and has over 7,000 jumps under his belt. He actually was involved in creating an amputee skydiving team called Pieces of Eight (google them!) Something about his voice and demeaner (what I could infer from a 5 minute phone conversation, anyway) put me completely at ease. I had a really good feeling about jumping at Skydive Temple and not just because the Google deal was only redeemable there. I'm a big fan of trusting my gut and it has rarely, if ever, steered me wrong. After reading Yelp & Google reviews, watching YouTube videos and reading up on tandem skydiving, I was sold. I then kind of took the lead in organizing this event. I give my husband the hard sell and he came around. I harrassed my other two friends who were interested to nail down a date at which point I called and made the reservation for Saturday, April 21st. OH MY GOD!!! SO INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY GLAD I DID THAT!!!! When I saw that Phil was my tandem master, I felt really good because his name is all over these reviews. And now I can see why. He told me he had been doing this for "21 wonderful years" and that he's jumped with all kinds of physically different people: multiple amputees, paraplegics, quadraplegics, blind, and deaf. And he had been in Special Forces. Right then, I thought I was definitely in safe hands. My husband's tandem master was John and Aaron liked his straightforward yet succinct communication style. He let him steer the chute a little and made the experience fun. We had to wait a while but it was fine. I got the impressions that this is just a nice, chill hangout place for people who skydive as a hobby. I did not feel any anxiety at all while I sat and watched other people go up and come down. I was okay on the plane, too actually until they opened the door and I looked down and made a "shit just got real" comment to my videographer who asked me what it meant to be at that altitude. He then informed me that we were only halfway up. Increased anxiety. I was the first one out. Sitting on the edge of the plane looking down 12,000 feet was pretty spooky. I had no idea what to expect of the freefall. For me, it was scary-intense. I did not plan to scream or close my eyes and I involuntarily did both. We did a somersault coming out of the plane and when I opened my eyes the ground was above me and the sky below. Wind in my face at 120 mph is not something I've ever experienced. It was difficult to breathe. I then remembered I had to look at the camera so I waved, then gave a thumbs-up, then suddenly realized I had done it and started fist pumping the air. After the chute deploys, it gets quiet and you can have a conversation with your tandem master or just enjoy the view. It barely feels like you're falling at that point. The landing is pretty easy, too. We both got photos and videos by Joey and Austin which were DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY. And we both felt like total badasses. Needless to say, we both LOVED the experience and are already talking about planning our next jump. read more

got the bf a gift certificate for Christmas. He had an amazing time and got to cross an item off his bucket list. I went skydiving 2 years ago at another facility. While the experience of skydiving itself cannot be ... explained? ...put into words? The service you receive at the facility is a different story. The place i went added extra fees, was hours behind schedule without explanation and had a decrepit facility and plane. Skydive Temple had an updated facility AND Plane! No hidden fees and friendly employees. The boy was jumping within the hour we arrived. They had a keg of beer on the patio for me while i waited and to celebrate once the man landed. not gonna lie. the whole process of buying the gift certificate online then redeeming it was NOT GOOD. And we had a couple of calls with the manager that were Not pleasant working it all out. But in the end, it did work out and he was great in person. My whole group had a great time (two of us actually skydived) and it was just a fun place to hang out. Had a little glitch with picture package and Mark (owner) never batted an eye--made it right immediately. These are great folks and I couldn't recommend anyone higher!! I was scared spitless and they made me relaxed and having fun in no time! I'll be back and now my friends that didn't jump are clamoring for their turn. Definitely an adventure I'll repeat. I don't really have anything to say that the other 5 star reviews haven't said already-- this place was awesome! I am skittish on planes and refuse to go on roller coasters, but I made it through the tandem jump. Phil, my tandem guy, has done over 13000 jumps and was super nice and everything I could have hoped for. It's not an easy thing to make a person shaking like a leaf (me!) feel calmer about jumping out of a plane, but somehow he did it. Everyone was super friendly, and I never once worried about my safety once I knew it was in their hands. We went on Thursday, when they had a tandem dive and video/photo package deal for $250. It was worth every penny. Oh, and one tip that's on their website but I didn't see until too late... don't wear boots! You'll worry the whole time that they're about to fall off! read more

Skydive Temple is definitely the place to go for fun, awesome, and professional skydiving! The crew and staff were very helpful and very friendly. They make sure that you're well taken care of, and do a fantastic job loosening those nervous bones. Given that you'll be jumping out of a plane 2 miles high above the ground, feeling at ease may be the hardest thing to do at the time! My boyfriend, a friend and I arrived at Skydive Temple on a Saturday, not really sure what the hell we got ourselves into, but we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff at the registration desk. In no time, I've met my tandem master "Chief" and he was already taking me through the entire process of skydiving. Chief was calm, funny, professional and very relaxing. He made me feel like I was in excellent hands and that I didn't make a mistake of wanting to come throw myself (or be attached to someone that's going) out of an airplane. All in all, it was the most amazing experience all three of us has ever had in our lives, and I am TERRIFIED of heights! But everyone at Skydive Temple had a giant smile on their faces, they were enjoying and love what they do, and their positive and amazing energy definitely made our trip up in the air (and down) wonderful. I had a great experience with them from booking to jumping to the thank you email the day after. I had bought coupons through Gilt City, and to make a long story short, Skydive Temple still allowed me to use them after their expiration date due to having to reschedule twice because of bad weather. We waited maybe 45 minutes for our turn. Got a few snacks from their snack bar. Then we got suited up. And were walked out to the plane where we met our instructors. We got the quick run down on the instructions on our way up in the plane. Which was fine with us. We had seen some people getting instructions down on the ground. But there wasn't really much to it! All three of our instructors made us feel at ease, assured us that they wanted this to be as enjoyable as possible and safely brought us back to Earth! I wanted to go again as soon as we got down! But we'll save that for another time. We winded down our adrenaline rush with some free beer! read more
