This is the worst Skyline in the Dayton area. I feel bad for anyone going to Skyline for the first time and experiencing this restaurant, as it gives Skyline a bad name. Skimpy serving sizes and slow service. I ordered my usual buffalo chicken wrap, chilito, and fries. The wrap had about 8 cubes of chicken in it and barely any cheese, far from the signature mound of cheddar you get with any Skyline product. The chilito was pathetic, smaller than a Taco Bell chilito. The fries were soggy and undercooked, and they gave me less than half a container. Anytime I visit Ohio if I get a chance I try to grab skyline. I was able to get my "fix" last night. The waitress was great and very attentive and the food all came out really fast. The place gives off a diner vibe which is what they are shooting for with the chain. I opted for a small 3-way and a cheese coney. The 3-way was just as good as always. Sadly the coney was a little on the meh side. The hot dog tasted a bit off and the bun was soggy and mushy (it tasted like I had sat in some water). If I could give 100 stars I would. My server was amazing, kept checking in with me on my 4-way which was spectacular. It was everything I wanted and more. I loved the energy between all the kids working there, it was happy, they helped each other, joked around, there was laughter and happy customers. I came here because I used to eat at the location in Florida pretty often after school while I was in grade school. Skyline chili is a staple to Ohio and it is something everyone needs to experience. Regardless of your likes or dislikes with chili, this is on another level. I usually get the 4-way with onions and it is loaded with cheese and comes with a side of oyster crackers. They also have hot sauce on the tables which is nothing like tobasco or crystals, it's better! The price is cheap and the food is delicious. This is definitely making my "Taste of Ohio" list! Wow! Skyline Chili seems to be a really neat and comfy local place to enjoy a meal away from the mundane restaurant scene of today's world within this price range. They have a really neat story too, apparently the original founding family made their chili in Cinci, used all their own recipes, and were Greek! You can really taste the Greek influence in their food, and the consistency seems to be there too which I really appreciate! Their chili, upon first bite, really made my day! I grew up in Ohio and lived there for 18 years. Then, I returned with my husband and two children and stayed for another 4 1/2 years. Never did Skyline spark my interest. Until I returned with an evaluation team and a guy from Iowa said, "We must try Skyline!" One of our escorts took us to this Fairborn location. We were greeted by an enthusiastic staff and our group of 8 was seated at the counter. We could see the entire food operation from our seats. A staff member was aerating the cheese while wearing plastic gloves. The entire area was spotless and organized. I ordered the 5-way: steaming spaghetti covered with chili (ingredients include cocoa and cinnamon) topped with a huge mound of cheddar cheese-add onions and beans. They accidentally delivered a Coney to me by accident. I ate it anyway and they did not charge me. The Coney consists of a hot dog in a steamed bun with mustard, topped with their chili, onions, and another mound of shredded cheddar. Everyone left with a bottle of Skyline hot sauce. This was a fun dining experience. I would do it again! A friend of mine told me about his frozen Skyline experience. I kind of missed Cincinnati, so I visited Skyline Chili to taste some spaghetti smothered with hot chili, beans, onions, and cheese. The server and cashier were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is comfy and quiet. Their menu has everything chili. I ordered the 3-way chili spaghetti and a hot black tea. The chili tasted salty, but it's so addicting to the taste buds. The onions helped with the sharp flavor, which I enjoy very much. The cheese, however, looked like a mountain, and it turned into a ball once I put most of it to the side. I enjoyed the tea after my meal, especially since the salty ingredients churned in my stomach. I really enjoy dining here. I realize that they sell frozen Skyline Chili at grocery stores, but it's always nice to have a dine-in experience with freshly prepared food. If I could give 10 stars I would. I have reminisced about a three way from Skyline Chili for 30 years. As we were traveling through Ohio, there was no way we could not stop in. Unbelievable taste, fresh, hot and worth every minute of a two hour detour. My husband, who had never had Skyline before was truly impressed. He suggests to have the Habanero cheese as it is no too hot and just right. There are three sizes to choose from; when at first I saw my small size I thought I would need to order another, however it turned out to be the perfect option. I'm breaking my "no review before a second visit" rule again, but I had to speak to the widely disparate reviews. I ordered the signature dish (Cincinnati-style chili) and found it tasted exactly as I expected. I would have preferred more thermal heat and less salt, but this restaurant is corporate-owned and serves the original 1949 recipe as its Greek-immigrant developer intended. According to the official literature, this style derives from a specific Greek family's home cooking. Skyline Chili has little or no spiciness, is served at a tepid temperature, over spaghetti with a ton of cheddar cheese that is not intended to melt. You are supposed to add the hot sauce (on the tables) to your personal taste. Diners need to read the menu carefully to understand the five different ways Skyline Chili is served, and realize that comparisons to other chilis is not useful. It does not, and was never meant to, resemble standard chilis. Skyline Chili features cinnamon and chocolate along with chili powder. It's like the difference between Puebla-style mole and a Sonoran-style enchilada sauce. Both are excellent over chicken, but they taste different. Now it is reasonable to complain if the spaghetti is over cooked, as some have. Mine was cooked to the American (more than al dente) standard. I found the service excellent and friendly, but I came on a Sunday and they weren't crowded. I love Tex-Mex style chilis, too. I prefer less salt, and I like my cheese melted over a thermally hot sauce. Skyline Chili disappoints me there, but it's not served that way intentionally, and I try to remember that it is nice to enjoy a different culinary option. This is a great place to take kids because there is a Coney-dog option. The hot dogs are not kosher, but a mix of pork, beef, and maybe turkey. If you're a health fanatic or counting calories, order the smallest size, with onions and beans, and half the cheese. Then skip dinner. Eating at Skyline Chili more often than twice a month will grow your waistline more than you want. read more

Just moved here and the great reviews must be from employees and owner friends. This is the worst excuse for chili or coney dogs I have ever had. First the "hotdog" is a Vienna Sausage which is disgusting. Second it is half the size of a normal coney dog yet costs as much or more. The "chili" tastes like pumpkin pie spice and is not warm enough to melt the cheese. The mustard & chipped onions were ok. BTW it's even worse at the Reds stadium.
