Ty was funny, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were spot-on, and every time he came to our table, he had us laughing. I was part of a group of older people who went to Skyline Kitchen and Vine for dinner on the evening of Wednesday, March 4th. There were about thirty of us, accommodated by sliding multiple tables together, which was nice. However, as only ONE server was assigned to us, it gave her a busy night; but she (didn't get her name) handled it with good humor, skill and a lot of genuine smiles. I ordered chicken parmesan, which when delivered had been pounded thin, breaded and fried and served with a little spaghetti. Overall, I found the dish to be OK, but IMHO a bit pricey and not something I'd recommend to others. My BIG problem was finding a thin metal "ribbon"-like thing in my entrée. It was about four inches long and one end was coiled as tight as a spring. To me, it looked to be the result of aggressive knife sharpening. Our server wasn't around at the moment, so with the urging of a couple fellow diners, I called a man over who seemed to be assisting her. When I showed him the object, he said he thought it came out of their dishwashers (?) and he was sorry it got into my meal. He took the "ribbon" and left, looking for a manager, I thought. When our server began handing out our individual bills, the man hadn't returned, so I spoke with her instead. When I described what I had found, she looked genuinely shocked, so obviously the other guy hadn't shared the information with her. I told her that I was grateful I hadn't swallowed the spring, but I still felt a discount on my meal would be appropriate. When I was given my bill, a 25% discount had been applied to my entrée, or about $6.75. I didn't feel satisfied, but we had now been sitting for well over an hour and I needed to get up and walk off the stiffness in my leg muscles. I took my sister here for lunch since I've heard a lot of good stuff about it. We decided to sit outside since the weather was so nice and they had a live music performance. I was looking the vibe of the place. We ordered an espresso martini and strawberry vodka specials. For food, we ordered crab cakes, bacon wrapped dates, and fish tacos. Expect to spend a lot of money at this place. The entire thing was about $100. I would say the quality of food was amazing but, the quantity was not the best. The service was amazing at first but after our food was served the server took forever to come back. We ended up walking towards the front of the restaurant to pay. When we first pulled up parking was a little weird we were not sure if we could park in the parking lot but it was fine. We walked in was greeted by this nice guy. He was so helpful with telling us about the menu and what suggestions we should try. He came back and checked in with us the whole time. We all got something different to try . We started with the bruschetta and it was really good the perfect mix of garlic and balsamic bread was soft. The steak frites were okay not my liking definitely would not order again. The happy hour was delightful. The drinks are half off and there are a variety of happy hour appetizers to choose from. Our bartender, Robert, was friendly, engaging, and delivered great service. The bar itself is longer, allowing for enough seating and not being crammed in. The margarita on their cocktail menu was delicious. The tequila was noted to have a spice to it but the drink wasn't spicy, instead it was refreshing and not sweet (which I dislike in a margarita). We tried 4 different appetizers. My favorite was the shrimp lettuce wraps 5/5. They were messy to eat, but the flavors are really nice. The chicken tacos were also good with the coleslaw crunch. The potstickers themselves were more a 4/5 for me with the sauce being better than a lot of others I've tried. The bruschetta was my least favorite 3/5, bread could have been a little more crisp, and I think with tomatoes not being in season, it wasn't as flavorful. read more

Stopped in for the first time and ordered my meal to go. Upon entering the restaurant, I found it to be very clean and neat and was acknowledged right away. There was no one in the restaurant. I told the gentleman waiting on me I was gluten-free and was really excited to see that they had several choices as I have celiac. I proceeded to order a small plate of scallops with risotto and the fillet with shrimp, which comes with three shrimp, mashed potatoes, and medley of carrots and zucchini. I ordered the fillet medium rare. It came in a reasonable amount of time. Once I got home and opened up my two boxes, I was surprised that the $18 scallops came with about a half a cup of risotto. The risotto was way too salty, and had a layer of oil on the top of it. The scallops were not cooked through and were gritty, like sand. I will not be returning. Our friends were very happy with their meals, the tacos, the spicy sausage pasta, the burgers, everything was very good. The noise level was great. A lot of places are too loud, but our table of six had no problems hearing each other. The service was great. When we first got there we had a table by the garage door that was open. I asked if they would be closing the door soon. The sun had gone down and it was chilly. Our server right away said, 'I'll close it right now'. Great customer service. I was hesitant to go to this restaurant because of the distance from my home but boy am I happy I decided to go! From the moment I walked in the restaurant, I was greeted with amazing service. Although the menu seems smaller than most restaurants in Reno, all of the options were a good variety for everyone. Hosted our HOA Oktoberfest here. Everything was fabulous. They served sausage with sauerkraut, German potato salad, cucumber salad, pretzels with cheese sauce, and a schnitzel. Dessert was apple crisp, warm and delicious. Everything was perfect. The food was tasty and cooked to perfection. They have a full bar, complete with Friendly bartenders with suggestions for cocktails or the types of beer you would enjoy. This was the perfect venue for a gathering, of close to 100 people, to celebrate our Oktoberfest with friends and neighbors. I went here for lunch with my friend, and it was pretty underwhelming. We enjoyed the date, bacon appetizer but the lettuce in the Caesar salad was a bit limp and our chicken fried sandwich had way too much dressing going on. My friend was almost grossed out by it. The fries were an additional five dollars up charge, which is a bit much and they were also underwhelming. Maybe they had an off day but it didn't really make me wanna come back. read more

I gave this place a 4 because it used to have a very good goat cheese Mac-n-cheese but changed it out for a Bacon Mac-n-cheese which just wasn't the same. It's located in a good spot near a dance studio, park and apartment complex but I feel like they've taken advantage of it to let the menu quality slide a bit. The atmosphere in this place is excellent inside and out but the change of management seems to have affected the quality of the food. Caprese Salad should consist of cherry tomatoes not tomato slices which seem a little more suited for sandwiches and burgers than a Caprese. We always loved the tapas menu at Sierra Street Kitchen, so were happy to see that the menu now also includes more standard-sized entrees. We chose Skyline Kitchen and Vine to try a new (to us) location. The interior is very warm and welcoming, large bar area and cute wine store area. We made reservations for a birthday celebration, but surprisingly did not need then on a June Friday night. Wine list and specialty cocktail menu was pretty good. We shared some apps and salads: bruschetta was very good, bacon-wrapped dates were excellent. The beet salad and ceasar salad were more than enough to share for two people. I loved the Steamed Clams and Pasta; pasta cooked al dente, sauce was garlicky and salty, plenty of clams. Two in our party remarked on how creamy the risotto was; Scallop and Salmon entrees were wonderful. The sirloin tips with creamy cheesy gnocchi is as good as ever. We also all shared the Chocolate Temptation and the Basque Cheesecake - both good, with the cheesecake being the favorite. Service was terrific and dishes came out pretty fast. Two of them had chicken waffles and two of us had eggs Benedict. The only thing I would recommend is the ham be a little bit thicker it was very thin, thin like one piece of shaved ham They have a nice happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 530 or so with pretty good prices. Went for Valentine's Day. They had a limited menu, which I was not made aware of before booking, but understandable as it's a holiday. It took a while for our waiter to greet us, but it was busy, so understandable. When we did. Interact with staff, everyone was very kind. For the food: The Mac and cheese was amazing. The brushetta was way overpriced for 4 pieces. We got a dish with potatoes and vegetables and the vegetables were not all the way cooked, it tasted raw in some parts and the potatoes were not fully mashed. I was not impressed. Fantastic food and great atmosphere !! I've eaten here a few times and the food never disappoints. Our last visit we sat outside on a beautiful day and had a mid day brunch , I had the crab cake benedict and my wife had the crispy chicken sandwich. Both meals were very good, i especially liked the yummy breakfast potatoes!! The location in a residential area makes Skyline a kind of a hidden gem! I'm not sure if we maybe caught him on a bad night, but it was very hard to talk to him or feel like he was listening to us. The restaurant has always been a unique and cool spot, but the new ownership seems to be paying more attention to the details and certainly less combative with the customers. On a recent visit was happy to see rabbit tacos on the specials. Rabbit certainly is few and far between as far as offered at restaurants. It had been a while since our last visit to Skyline Kitchen and Vine, and we're so glad we decided to return! There's been a change of ownership, and the new team has done an absolutely fantastic job. I had the Spicy Sausage Pasta, and it was so good. The sauce was rich and flavorful, packed with lots of sausage, and had a nice kick to it. My boyfriend went with the Kobe burger and garlic/parmesan fries, and both were delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the fries were irresistible. Our server, Meg, was super friendly and attentive. They also have a great happy hour and a nice outdoor patio, which is perfect for summer evenings. We'll definitely be making Skyline Kitchen and Vine a regular spot. They make you feel special and were very attentive at listening to what you would enjoy for dinner and drinks for recommendations.
