I moved in during COVID; it was a tough time for everybody. Many of the amenities were closed or under renovation. They are now up and running and I'm sad I didn't get to enjoy them while I was here! Management at this company is really attentive and responsive. I had some complaints early on that have been addressed and the team has been great! My parents always taught me to throw out the trash. Not live in it. My mother also taught me that if you don't take out the trash, chances are, you are trash. I was shocked when I saw the reviews and photographs but had to see it for myself anyways since it was on my list of places to check out. I did not just struggle through my entire life to reach independency only to live side by side with trash, garbage, and shit. There are plenty of better apartments nearby with reasonable rent that don't smell like garbage. Hence, why live by trash and be treated like trash by the landlord? Take my money but not my trash? tl;dr-- If you live here, it will be for the view and because it's more affordable than other rentals in the area. The complex is old & maintenance will be in your unit all the time fixing things. Know that you're gonna lose a good chunk of your deposit when you move out. What you pay is what you get. I've read a lot of the 1-3 star reviews on here, & those complaints were all on point & not exaggerated. I stomached the issues while living here over 2 years, because I knew I was paying less for the area & I was too lazy to move. Management/front desk: Most try hard to be diplomatic and professional, but the good ones don't stay. They get promoted to manage nicer complexes within the GHP company (The way they handle themselves makes me think that Skyline is the ugly stepchild of all the complexes owned by GHP-- nobody wants to be here). As a result, there's a revolving door of new people at the front desk/management and too much he-said-she-said that's not worth your time & money. Facilities: Cheap looking & old, but passable & livable. Paper thin walls. Things are always breaking down inside & outside the units. Most of the elevators are more often broken down than functioning. Each unit includes a small stacked washer/dryer, but there is no refrigerator. The gym smells. I've seen roaches scurry near the bush by the jacuzzi & they also find their way into your unit every once in awhile. Maintenance: Friendly, decent at repairs, mostly timely. The only people keeping this complex functioning. Tenants: Mostly young, chill professionals and some families (who express the same sentiments). Location: Great views. Safe neighborhood. A short drive to lots of fun LA areas. BAD TRAFFIC when there are Dodger games or freeway closures. read more

Never in my life... I saw this place had some openings and they were much cheaper than what I'm paying now, so obviously I came to check it out. Scheduled a showing online and they sent me 5-6 texts confirming. I get to the property a little early (around 2:15 for a 2:30 showing) and the office looks closed. A woman comes out a door and asks if she can help me. I tell her I'm there for a showing and she says someone will be with me. Around 2:30 she raises the gate for the office. I thought maybe it was show time, but nope... she just went and disappeared in the back... to her credit she did come out and say whomever should be here shortly, but that was 20 mins ago... I have now wasted 45 mins of my time here, plus the time to write I this review... Super unprofessional, I'm happy I saw this before taking the bait of cheap rent..... read more

After living here for a long time and seeing a significant number of inaccurate posts on Yelp regarding this complex, I felt compelled to warn future tenants. I recommend you really do your research on this place, there is a lot of misrepresentations from the posts. Here are some things to consider and supported with pictures. For example: - Not everyone will have the skyline view, be cautious about construction and garbage that frequently occurs throughout the surrounding premise. - Yes, you will get numerous emails/notifications that "maintenance staff" will enter your apt, whether you like it or not. Even if you make arrangements to be present, it can be ignored, and I recommend you install a security camera to catch them in the act and you will be shocked when you see how they treat your place. When they do show up, your place may be damaged and they can deny responsibility. They are currently dealing with persistent malfunction of fire sprinklers/fire code violations and 'false' fire alarms. Be wary of this especially because of their past record (another GHP building -search for this article Da Vinci building recently burned down - L.A. files $20-million lawsuit against Da Vinci Apartments developer over huge downtown fire - Los Angeles Times). Make sure to get good renters' insurance. - Place is not secure (was bad before the COVID pandemic and even worse now). A number of packages are stolen from the apt complex (easy picking for strolling strangers, they haven't changed their "gate" security code over 6 yrs...). I've had my car broken into, and a number of packages stolen. They have a "courtesy" patrol sometimes, and they frequently chase out intruders but are ill-equipped to deal with DTLA's dangers. Make sure to take the time to file your police report, then you can claim it if its significant. They do allow dogs in the apartment complex, which is a worthwhile consideration especially for safety reasons. - Chronic plumbing issues remain, given it's an old building, and it's very common to have black sludge creeping from your plumbing onto all your personal items (get renters insurance). Ask how many tenants have experienced this. - Unlikely to get a decent internet speed due to inherent limitations in the building, there is no way around this (remember it's an old building). It's usually ~ less than 30 mbps, which could be okay for some who aren't dependent on their connection for heavy work. - Final tip, be careful about the language used in their leasing agreement. The administrative management very likely remains understaffed and overworked, which is why they have such a high employee turnover rate over the last several years. The revolving door of employee turnover makes it hard to find someone you can trust or work with. Seldomly you find a very good hard working skyline employee, but again, they are limited by their environment and resources available. These issues likely stem from the top, and its not clear if there is a lack of awareness or its being purposely ignored. I lived at Skyline for more than 3 years. It was decent for a cheap apartment but had a lot of issues. I loved how personal the front desk staff was. They have always taken good care of me and that is something you can't take for granted. If you have any options to live anywhere else, take it. The views are great, the living situation stressful. I've been dealing with a non-stop barking dog for over a year, and management has said they can't do anything about it because they don't know where to locate it. I say if you have a list of tenants with dogs, go through the list. The only way you are are allowed a dog is if it is a 'support' animal, and they should have a list. The management has said to contact the Courtesy Patrol after office hours, but the barking happens to begin and sometimes ends after the office closes at 6pm and before 9pm when the courtesy patrol is out. And even then they can't locate where the dog is. My concern is that there is an actual medical emergency, either with the human or the dog. The animal last Monday was hoarse by 10pm. For over one year this has been going on, and it seems as though management and GHP management doesn't want to get involved because of the 'support' animal status. I checked with LA City Animal Control and any animal that is a nuisance can be reported. I mentioned this in my phone call last week to the male office staffer who went silent and said they couldn't do anything. I said you have to have a list of tenants with dogs - go investigate but that was met by silence. The manager, per this gentleman, "Maisha hasn't been here for a while"; when I asked if he was acting manager, he said no and refused to say who was. I said I would contact the Regional Manager but I haven't had time. This is the worst I've ever experienced since living here (and sadly, I can't move any time soon). So there's a lot to think about if you want to have a relaxing, semi-stress free home. This isn't the place. I will say that the maintenance staff - Albert, Oscar- are amazing, and work very hard. The former janitor Max and the current one, Juan, are hardworking and all are friendly and helpful. Adriana, the assistant manager currently on leave, is the only person in the managers office who consistently responds and follows up to any issues. I don't doubt that the manager cares - but she doesn't seem to be here, always in meetings or dealing with something to do with GHP. But they do have food truck Tuesday and occasional donuts in the lobby. I'm posting this because it seems the only thing that gets GHP's attention are social media reviews and a high occupancy rent and rents paid in a timely manner. The dog is barking again and I just tried calling the managers' office at 5:55pm. Only voicemail. Rent at your own risk. read more

Enjoyed living here during my first year in LA with the daily views of the DTLA Skyline. Very well-maintained building (e.g. clean especially during COVID) and any apartment specific maintenance requests are handled swiftly and thoroughly based on my experiences. The staff does try to increase resident morale and community through creative events like hosting sport game watch parties in the pool-facing lounge (normally only bookable through a fee), holiday festivities, and bringing food trucks weekly to the building's curbside during COVID. Amenities: in-unit washer & dryer + secured resident parking & available street parking for Guests, all huge pluses for LA. Beyond the convenient, safe location, the staff at this building sets this place apart. From the leasing office (Adriana/Maisha/Kirk) to the maintenance services (Mario/Alberto), everyone was friendly and responsive to my needs. Mario, one of the cleaning staffers, seemingly knows every resident's name and treats everyone as his personal friend. This level of resident service I'd imagine is hard to find at other apt complexes around LA, and makes living here that much more enjoyable on a daily. They also do a good job giving residents notice of any upcoming building-wide repairs/maintenance. The only reason my review isn't 5 stars is because every place has room for improvement. I believe more resources could be invested in the communal areas like the gym (e.g. more and upgraded equipment), pool, and even lobby area to encourage greater sense of community and use. I voiced some recommendations to the manager, which were taken into consideration and some improvements were in process. Wish I had the chance to experience more, and I'll note that I chose to move out for personal reasons, not because of Skyline. As a whole, the Skyline staff is accommodating and understands resident needs much more than the building's management company, GHP. read more

We have lived here for close to a year and it occurred to me that in the nearly 12 months we've been here nearly everything in our apartment has required repairs: the two latest that stand out are that our oven went out and it took them close to a month to repair so we couldn't buy anything that required a oven and most recently is that the bathtub which began to chip and fade shorty after moving in got progressively worse and we'd asked what could be done. They painted over it and it looked decent. Within a few weeks my son slipped in the tub and his heel went through the back of the tub( old) and after reporting it we were hit with a $400 plus bill to repair a small hole. To note: the price of a brand new tub online was $267.00. The unit is old and it shows. I've seen the "renovated" units and they look cheap. We spent $410. 00 to repair a hole in a bathtub the size of a heel of a foot. DO NOT SLIP & FALL IN YOUR BATHTUB!! read more

Silence.. the primary joy of this complex. On a hilltop far removed from sirens, scavenger shopping carts, and helicopters - I sleep very well here. The city blossoms in the nearby distance, and is spectacular as the sunset fades and lights begin to glow. The community is warm, friendly, and even holds the elevator for each other.. It is an easy place to make friends, feel safe and enjoy life. The staff are amazingly accommodating, and always take the time to make us feel special and address concerns immediately. They appreciate the residents, and do so even when they are short staffed and overworked. I see others have taken the time to complain about the occasional fire alarm, maintenance issue, or disrespectful tenant... it makes me wonder if they have ever lived in a building this full of life. The rent is actually discounted below market value due to the buildings age, which I find to be extremely fair, especially since in my time here the elevators were refurbished, the hallway carpets replaced, the tile steam cleaned..and yet my rent stays the same. But most importantly, at the end of the day, when its time to close my eyes, I rest peacefully...and that is worth more to me than anything. read more

Residents here play loud af music at every hour. 2am, 5:30am, 7am, 10am, 7pm are just the few hours I have logged within this week. And people talk on their balconies like they're drunk at all hours. And if you're one of those people that talk on your balcony and have no concept of self preservation, know that I have heard a number of people announce credit card numbers to whatever company they were calling. Inconsiderate or clueless residents at the pool talking into all hours of the night. Spent years complaining to management and still nothing. Had to call the cops numerous times because the noise got so out of hand in the middle of the night. They call these "luxury" apartments which is very laughable. You're better off paying $150-200 more down the street at Orsini or another better complex. Also, the washer/dryer in your unit may not be the best too. Mine doesn't wash my clothes properly. I would prefer paying at a laundry mat. I say this because you aren't able to wash your bedding. You'll put your bedding in the washer and it will come out dry... Make this make sense to me. If you sign here, you might think it's a good deal, but they'll add a bunch of other charges on top of your rent. This could be $150-300 more depending on your utility bill. Finally, the manager is very very unpleasant. Her name is Maisha Beasley and her face looks like if you told her that her dog died. It's just so sad 24/7. Honestly, I think she doesn't like her job, but that doesn't give her the right to make her tenants life difficult through her unprofessionalism. If you email her a concern, she'll get back to you two weeks later. She'll do this after you go in-person to the office for the third time asking for clarity. When you go to the office, she won't be there too. Instead, she'll let her employees be the face of the complex because she lacks interpersonal skills. How she got hired? I don't know. Why she does her job so poorly? I don't know. Why she looks upset all the time? Well, that's because she is. Do better and look elsewhere. I can't wait for my lease to up. read more

The front office made the move in process very easy to send all my move in information, not only did Ms. De La Cruz make me feel welcomed she has been wonderful with answering emails on time. My bf and I rented out a one bedroom apt with Skyline and had a positive experience there. Although it is pricey, I would say it's definitely one of the more affordable nicer apts close by downtown LA and it's located at a really prime location. The views from my apt and where the pool is located was the main highlight and I loved every moment of it. I believe most of the units are renovated with wooden floors. The staff at the leasing office were all so wonderful and friendly which made a huge difference in our stay! Adrianna, Maisha, Samantha and Ingrid were the best and very professional. Any issues that arose, they took it seriously and resolved it as quickly as possible. The maintenance staff were extremely responsive as well. My bf and I really enjoyed seeing Max in the mornings as well as some of the maintenance crew who were also really friendly. The only downside was the small gym they had (I heard they might be renovated this-not sure), but it didn't really matter to us anyway. The leasing office staff really tries to get the apt community together by planning small events and providing breakfast randomly. Honestly, we're really glad we went with Skyline. I'd definitely stay longer if I hadn't purchased a home. They also ensured a smooth transition out even though we had to break our lease. Thanks, Skyline :) read more

Unce unce UNCE! This place is awesome! It's an architectural wonder of the world, they used this new cutting edge construction method to build it using only paper! I wonder if the walls are made from college rule or wide rule paper. I'm pretty sure the construction method is to use a glue stick and glue up two pieces of paper against a stud framed wall made of cardboard. Can I join your conversation neighbor? It was really nice that I didn't have to go knock on my neighbors doors to talk to them. I could just talk to them through the walls, saved me so much time. I felt like such a cool kid when I used to live here because I could join all the parties in the entire complex every night by just laying in my bed. I'm glad security never broke up those parties so that I could be able to experience them all night long. Fire? No just testing your hearing! It works! I am really glad my neighbors always stayed on top of the safety of the complex by testing the fire alarm so often every week. It was a a breath of fresh air that they always kept us on our feet by testing all times of day and night. I'm also glad that the sound was extremely piercing to make sure it woke me up in the middle of the night every week to try to save my life. Free pets! Yay! I was always lonely at home there but I am glad the complex offers free pets! Completely free of charge! My pets spidey and roachie always hung out in the apartment so that I wouldn't be so lonely. I was disappointed that these men always came and try to make my pets go away, but you know what, my free pets always found their way back to me, yay! Thanks for keeping my packages safe, neighbors! The complex doesn't have a package system in place for large packages so the mailmen always put big packages in front of our door in the hallways. Luckily, my neighbors were so nice that they would take my packages to keep them safe. Only thing is, I don't know which friendly neighbors took them so I can't go thank them. The location is a dream and the apartments are more spacious than your modern LA apartment. Mostly, we loved how friendly the staff was whenever we needed something. Especially Adriana, who was our leasing agent when we moved in and was there with us every step of the way. The maintenance staff was always on top of any requests and just generally pleasant people to see every day :) If we weren't moving to a different part of town, we would have stayed here for several more years. The place isn't that bad. The staff will drive you insane until you leave. They only have security (which if you need, you just kind of have to walk around and find) because there are no cameras even in the parking garage. Which I hope you don't need two spaces in, because they'll give you space to park one car in front of the other, blocking it in. The parties are SO LOUD everyone will be awake. My washer and dryer was completely broken for 4 months out of a 7 month lease. The old manager told me to "deal with it myself" after asking me to pay for the request.. She was fired and they hired a new guy who continues to show how much the company cares about the serious issues of residents such as basic maintenance and theft on their employees behalf. Deserving of a negative star, but I guess 1 is the lowest option. read more

I've lived here for two years and I have to say it has been an overall pleasant experience for the price. Pros: - Beautiful view of downtown skyline with a pool and jacuzzi area. This was what initially made me signed the lease on the day that I came and saw the units. - Maintenance staff: Max has always been welcoming since the day 1 and his genuine personality will really make your day. You can always count on Albert to fix the laundry list of maintenance that the units will go through while living here. - Cost: Relatively inexpensive compared to other parts of DTLA. However, the rent has also increased since I moved in (2br/2ba ranged from 2100-2500 when I first moved in and now you're probably looking at 2500-2800 for the same unit) - High ceilings. I lived on the top floor and appreciate the high ceilings. Try to get one of these units if available. - Security deposit: Relatively cheap deposit compared to other DTLA apartment. Was only $500 at the time I signed my lease (but expect them to deduct around $300 for cleaning/paint) -Parking: I would have to say this this is a HUGE plus for this apartment. Each 2br/2ba comes with FREE tandem parking. In addition, there is plenty of street parking available which is so convenient if you plan to have guests over. It's first come first serve but it's fairly easy to find parking all around the building. Cons: - Shower heads: I wish I took a picture of the shower head because the design is so flawed that it's hysterical. I am 5'8" and I have to bend down to take a shower. I thought it was only my unit but every single unit that I have been into (including my neighbors) were designed the same way. It's embarrassing when I have guests that are over 6' tall come ask if they could take a shower at my unit. You're better off just buying a small stool so you can sit down and take a shower so you don't hurt your back. - Ovens/refrigerators: None of the units come with refrigerators and you'll have to buy one yourself or rent it. The kitchen is so small that you can't open your oven without opening the refrigerator door. (see picture) - Pet policy: The apartment only allows for cats. Small dogs are not allowed unless they are service or animal support animals. - Security: The outside doors are always broken and anyone can just open the door and walk right in. When it's not broken, you can either use your key to get in, or enter in a keycode (one that everyone and their mother knows). Skyline should definitely work on fixing it so either the keycode is changed frequently or you have to dial a number to get in. - Pests: I've had two incidents were thousands of ants infested my apartment. I wish I was exaggerating. Management said there was nothing they could do until pest control came a few days later. I was able to control it with some Raid spray. -Management: Management staff has been changed about 3 times since I moved in (I think it's because the previous managers were so awesome that they got promotions elsewhere). The most recent staff are more stiff and try too hard to act professional that every interaction with them seems fake. There was one instance where my unit got a noise complaint when my roommate and I were on vacation and no one home in my unit. I was upset at how they communicated the information to me. It's understandable that sometimes people can make mistakes, but the staff just needs to be trained on interpersonal communication so they can be improve their skills on conflict resolution. read more

The location is nice, the apartments are alright, rent is a little bit pricey but within normal ranges, oh and IT'S INFESTED WITH BEDBUGS. We contacted management about the problem, and not only did they not do anything about it, they insinuated that it was our problem and threatened to fine us for bringing them in. Despite other people having the exact same issue, they insisted it was our fault. We ended up paying for an exterminator out of our own pocket. He came three times, and the bedbugs still haven't gone away. One of out roomates Because of these and other reasons (public complaints posted by others about the exact same issue), I'm certain the problem is with the building itself. There are other apartments in Chinatown without these issues. I would give skyline a decent review but this has cost me a lot of money, had an incredibly deleterious effect on my quality of life, and still has not been resolved months later. I thought I'd write review since it has almost been a year living here. Pros: Really nice view and nice size. It is on a pricy side but not bad for all the amenities. Max and Alberto are the best!!! Max has been super nice since day 1 and makes my day whenever I meet him. Alberto fixes everything if you have trouble. He is the best! The current manager is very nice and knowledgeable. Pool, jacuzzi and gym are almost always clean Cons: The new office staff Mario isn't too nice. He never says hi nor smiles. He also is new so he gets some information wrong. I moved into Skyline Terrace almost two months ago and I am loving it! The staff is very accommodating, friendly, and professional. Kirk, Adriana, & Myeisha each played a part in either my application or move in process and continue to do a wonderful job helping me as a tenant. The building is cleaned everyday and I often see the maintenance techs at work - they're also friendly and professional! The garage is gated as well as the only outside entrance. I feel quite safe living here even though we're in the middle of DTLA. The building is tucked off a couple side streets away from traffic and most street noise. Lastly, I'll mention most tenants I run into are covid compliant and overall polite. I don't have one complaint and I'm very happy I chose this complex as my home. The skyline view is great in this place, considering the rent they charged. The only keeping it from a five star review is the SMELL in their Gym. The smell inside of that room is awful. It made my throat feel very uncomfortable after the exercise. It can be the chemical thing of the cleaning product they used to clean that room. OMG.....breakfast on the go yesterday, work orders done in a timely matter, the view of downtown Los Angeles is amazing, and the vibe here is amazing! I love living here at Skyline Terrace and the view from my apartment is A1! There's nothing like waking up to a view of downtown from my apartment and walking to the lobby for coffee and fresh apples! The hershey's kisses are a good touch as well although I don't eat them much. The staff from management, to leasing, to maintenance are nothing less than amazing! If you planning move here this summer, forget it, they decided to reform the pool now, all the covid and winter to do that but no, don't even have guys working on the pool, maximum you see once a week someone there for a short time, How it's supposed to be ready in time? Rent is expensive and we don't even use the pool. read more

We loved living here for two years. The location was perfect, the staff responded in a timely manner, and requests from maintenance were also taken care of in a timely manner. The only down side was the gym space and the fact that one of the treadmills was always out of service. If we ever moved back to LA we'd definitely be back here at Skyline! read more

I lived at Skyline Terrace from January 2007 to January 2008. I find it extremely disturbing that people are writing reviews of this place that echo ALL the same issue that I had over 10 years ago! Yes, the fire alarm constantly went off and conveniently it only happened in the middle of the night. My roommate and I would have to stand outside for over an hour while the fire department would come in, look for an actual fire (never actually having one) and reset it. In terms of security, the gated parking is a nice idea THEORETICALLY, yet my roommate had her car broken into and expensive items stole even though the gate was closed. And more often than not, the gate remained open because of malfunctions. Not very effective. Regarding the sound issue, we constantly heard our upstairs neighbor stomping around. It sounded like they were waking around with concrete shoes. And all hours of the day and night. As for shared walls between apartments, we could hear everything going on to the point of being able to give a review on what they were watching on tv. We could easily hear their conversations, their alarm going off in the morning, etc. Maintenance was a joke. Anytime I submitted a request to have something repaired, it took at least 5 calls to the management to even get someone to evaluate the problem. It was even harder to get them to actually follow up and repair the problem. When things were repaired, they broke soon after. Other minor issues: traffic was horrendous whenever there was a Dodger game or event at Dodger Stadium. The pool and jacuzzi were disgusting. Tip: make sure you get your Hepatitis and Tetanus vaccinations before using the pool or gym. Packages were difficult to track down and were often returned to the post office or sender. So yes, this building might be appealing because of the location and views, and it's relatively reasonable when it comes to rent. But in my opinion, it's not worth the headache and day-to-day hassles that you have to endure. I also think it's incredibly disappointing that the issues I had over 10+ years ago STILL REMAIN issues that current residents are complaining about. This just shows how lightly the management takes these concerns. Absolutely NOTHING has been done to correct any of these problems and it seems like it will just continue indefinitely. read more

Good location right outside of Downtown. Nice free pool, nice free gym. Gated, assigned parking. Gorgeous view. In-unit washer and dryer, AC/heater, dishwasher, oven, microwave. Dodger Stadium events can affect traffic but it is never terrible. Things are a little old and outdated, but functional. Less one star because packages are stolen regularly. Multiple people in my hallway alone leave out signs instructing delivery services NOT to leave packages at the door. Once, the front desk didn't realize they had my package all along. Getting mail here the past year has been a constant inconvenience. read more

There are 3 people that work here that actually make living here a better place Max, Samantha, and Albert. Max and Albert are the most dedicated, warm, and helpful maintenance team I have ever met, for the three years I've been even visiting this building (my boyfriend lived here first) they ALWAYS said hello, treated me with the respect, and truly made my day. When they come in for repairs they are the two most efficient and effective members of the crew. I literally don't know what I would do without Max's cheery face coming into make my apartment act and FEEL better. Samatha, I could not say more about. She is an exceptional worker. She is so dedicated she would willingly give her time to you at any time of the day. Truly, I feel that all the issues I had with scheduling my carpet cleaning would not have happened had she not been away. She is dedicated and BRILLIANT. I'm so grateful to have her back (from a WELL DESERVED vacation) because without her nothing was the same. I can't express enough how much my roommate and I adore these workers. Thank you guys for being so great at your jobs and making this place feel like a real home. read more

Note: this is only on apartment hunting service, I have not lived here. We checked out Skyline Terrace and I would have moved there but our timeline has changed. I want to thank Wayne for the awesome experience while we toured and were on the waiting list for an apartment here. From walking in to first view a unit, to Wayne following up with us from his waiting list, he's given amazing personalized, professional service. The place itself is awesome! Incredible pool and bbq area with a gym and communal space. It's a cool location, good parking but a little walk into heart of DTLA. Hoping I can live here soon!
