I felt like we just clicked. He asked what I was interested in to replace my pickup. We chatted for a bit, then Chris took the time to show me around ALL the lots at Capitol Auto Group. We stopped kicked a few tires. I saw several rigs of interest... have to laugh at this. One that caught my eye was an orange Jeep the belonged to another customer; it having just been serviced and was waiting for its owner to claim it. Chris told me that that one belonged someone else. LOL! Bummer... oh well. Chris drove back to the Nissan lot where the other rigs were I had an interest in and wanted to test drive. Chris got the keys showed me a Cherry red VW bug, boy was she a Beauty.... cream colored interior, heated leather seats, AC, she had the works and then some. Ened up giving her a pass. Next to the VW has a Jeep Wrangler, thought maybe. Chris already had the keys we took it off the lot. We actually drive it around out on the streets got it up to speed. I asked a few questions, well maybe lot, about the rig. Chris answered my questions i felt honestly. No hedging on any of the answers. Yep you guessed it I fell in love with this baby out on a test drive. We drove back to the Chevy dealership and started the paperwork. Chris made that process sooooo easy and pain free. In short order I was driving this baby home with a smile that hasn't left. If you are interested in buying a new or used rig from Capitol Auto Group find Chris Kelley. My son had been working and saving his money. Then, I'd help him out a bit, too. He found a used Subaru (#1 safety, nice color, great car for dogs, Subaru really supports dogs (pets), etc... and we liked this Subaru at the Nissan/Capitol Auto Group dealership. The car was not even listed on their website and was in the lot of trade-ins (with 75+ other trade-in cars) in a lot behind the Subaru dealership. So, I helped negotiate with finance guy #1 for $15k for this Subaru car and only if he agreed at $15k would we then take the car to an independent mechanic (AJ's Auto who are great guys!) to be mechanically inspected. Finance guy #1 agreed to the $15k and we dropped the car at the AJ's auto mechanic for approx. 4 hours which cost my son $170.00. Later in the evening, we picked the car up from the AJ's auto and drove the Subaru back over to Nissan/Capitol Auto Group dealership. My son really excited thinking he'd be driving his car home that evening, his 1st good decent car with good safety and was mechanically good...a car he would be using for several years to drive back and forth to work (Amazon) while he continued his college (studying Ayurvedic Medicine as he says, so he might help others in the world) Upon arriving at the Nissan/Capitol Auto Group dealership were met with finance guy #2 (no idea where finance guy # 1 was) and finance guy # 2 says to us that the price of the Subaru was now $17,500.00 and not the $15,000.00 originally agreed upon and that had been earlier negotiated. Increasing the price by $2500.00. Smh! WTH! I was livid! My son's spirit now broke. I spoke loudly telling the finance guy #2, that he should be ashamed of himself and what a terrible shady thing to do to this kid! I continued to tell finance guy #2 that not only did my son waste his time at the Nissan dealership/Capitol Auto Group, that the dealership lied and my son was now out his $170.00 auto inspection that he paid. (They finally reimbursed my son the $170.00) So, while we still haven't found my son a solid and dependable car, I'm telling this story so you all can be aware of the extremely shady practices of Capitol Auto Group and their dealerships. No integrity whatsoever. I will not now or ever be recommending any dealership owned by Capitol Auto Group and certainly never recommending the Nissan dealership in Salem, Oregon. their website says, Hard lesson learned for us at 100%...

We first looked at a 2018 Civic on the Subaru lot, but my daughter wanted to look at other options (wasn't set on a Civic). The good thing about the Capitol setup, is they have Chevrolet and Toyota right there, so we were able to go look at quite a few other newer used car options. We drove a 2022 Kia Forte, as well as a 2018 Chevy Cruze LT RS, and liked both of them better than the Civic -- they both had a lot lower miles, and were quieter on the road. We never felt any pressure from either sales associate, and felt they were very helpful in finding us viable options. We took a break to go get some lunch while we did research on the vehicles, then came back to work out a deal for the Cruze with Cameron and company. All of the associates involved with the deal mentioned several extended warranty options, but given the fact that the car only had 31K miles, was regularly serviced next door at the Chevy dealer, and got good reliability ratings from several consumer agencies, we declined. The finance guy pressured a little harder, and was on the verge of being a jerk about it, but I stood my ground and left without any add-ons. I'm fine with that. The overall atmosphere inside the dealership is laidback, with an inviting waiting area stocked with snacks and water. As far as used car buying experiences go, I rate this one pretty highly. Capitol Subaru had my 2015 Outback for two weeks for CVT issues. In the end the best they could do…read morewas confirm there was a problem and that the FIRST STEP would be to replace the torque converter and oil at $3,310. Then, if that didn't fix the issue, they would replace the valve body at $2,500, and then, if that didn't fix the problem, they would replace the entire transmission to the tune of $11,000. Now, if they can't pinpoint the problem why would we pay over $16,000 to repair an 11-year-old car with 81,000 miles on it? Proper diagnostics are key, but they just wanted to throw parts at it. Oh, and BTW, Subaru of America wouldn't help because we were out of the extended warranty period by one year on a KNOWN CVT problem. Never again Subaru

If the Chat feature is unavailable......TELL people that its NOT available. This lack of customer service now, is the same as it's been for years. Hire people that care. I recommended Dave Morton for a long time and even referred friends after buying my Ford Focus…read morethere. I never write reviews, but this experience changed that. In the past year I purchased two Jeeps from them. Since then I have spent about $9,000 in repairs. Around $7k on a Cherokee and $2k on a Compass, and both vehicles still have serious issues. The Compass now has combustion gases in the coolant, and the Cherokee needs a U joint. Between repairs and downtime, one or both cars have been in the shop for roughly six months out of the year and a half I have owned them. I reached out to the dealership about these issues and did not receive any follow up or support. My advice is to inspect any vehicle very thoroughly, especially around the 100k mile range, and pay close attention to reviews before buying. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership.
