All my life, I've been self conscious about dancing. This is due to being made fun of as a child. Deep inside I always wanted to be free to move but I couldn't. My body would just freeze. Others tried to help and encourage me. I tried YouTube videos and even a Jaz class at a community college. Nothing worked. This trauma haunted me and I hated it. Failure was no longer an option. I had to find someone who could help me. That's when I stumbled upon Sky Pole Fitness. I started taking private lessons (as well as a few group classes) and after just a couple of lessons something MAGICAL happened. I was MOVING! I did the beginner pole class, because I am a novice at the pole! I liked the studio because it was intimate and very clean. The poles rotate (not stationary) Our instructor, Kristin, was very knowledgeable and was very patient with us. She took the time to explain each move and where to put our weight. I am left handed, so it was great that she taught the class both ways. I felt nervous at first, but she is so positive that I loosened up right away. Skypole pole fitness has been a great place for me to go after work and relieve stress. They have morning and afternoon classes.The instructors are very knowledgeable, and work with you on modifications when moves get challenging. The atmosphere is great, you get support not just from your instructors but peers as well; everyone is always encouraging one another and complementing each other. I hve been wanting to take a class here since the grand opening in August. Now that my work schedule has changed, I was finally able to attend a class. So I decided my first class would be twerk fitness. The class was great. The instructor took each exercise step by step. You definitely work up a sweat. I will be back. I had a bachelorette party with kiera (I'm sorry if I got it wrong!), as an instructor. Her class was a blast! She taught us a little bit of everything, the floor dancing, chair dancing, pole dancing, and twerking. She made this "sexy pole dancing class" very engaging, inclusive, and body positive. Absolutely amazing experience. I went to a first time poler class and I loved it. As soon as I can, I am going to start their skypole academy. Sky, who is the owner taught the class and made me feel completely comfortable. She talks you up and cheers you on, even when you're pretty sure you screwed up the move.
