While my father was not in good health and Masonicare will blame everything on Noravirus, COVID, and pneumonia (all three of which he caught while he was in their care), the fact of the matter is they dragged their feet and only released him when he was dying. I suspect they only did it then so they wouldn't have his death at their facility. Specific points: - It took them over 10 days from when he was first admitted to do anything with his medication. All of this was because they couldn't contact his main doctor to talk about the medications he was on. This should have been done on day one and only was resolved when I took care of it myself. It took all of an hour. - The patient rights they gave us at the beginning included the right to where your own clothes. We provided the three outfits allowed. Of the dozen or so times I visited my dad, only once was he in his own clothes. Sometimes he was in a cloth jump suit which is understandable, but several times he was in clothes I can guarantee were not his. It's a little thing but shows the attention to detail he received. -He entered being able to walk, albeit not well. After two weeks there he was no longer able to walk. -Throughout the process, the staff claimed he could not possibly be released because he was combative. Whenever I talked to the nurses or aides they never claimed this and he was bed bound for at least 3 weeks. I did consult a lawyer at one point to understand our options and without prompting he said the staff at Masonicare would claim someone was combative to have an excuse for keeping them there. Since you're not allowed to see the patients often there is no way to verify if they were being honest or not. Given that he was knocked out or asleep often I'm skeptical. - When they finally said he could be released, they took an additional two weeks for "assessments and paperwork." They repeatedly missed times they said this would be done. As I said earlier they basically only released him when they sent him back to a normal hospital. - In the six weeks my dad was in their care, he lost over 30 pounds (from 150 to 120). They tried to fix his "depression" to only cause this to his health.

Frequently refuses patients upon returning to the facility, and will blatantly disregard them because of their health status, especially those with alzheimer's or dementia. Staff was very eager learn and to be educated on her diagnosis' and the best ways to support her so she could return to her home as soon as possible. Everyone from the front desk staff to the nurses, rehab specialists and social workers treated her with nothing but kindness, caring and respect. I have never encountered a rehab facility like this where it was so obvious that they put the patient as a priority while accommodating all their needs. I would definitely recommend Wadsworth as a five star facility. They did not disappoint!

Many of our friends recommended the Southington Care Center, and we were fortunate to get in there. I cannot speak more highly of this organization! Attentive, skilled, and caring Nurses, CNAs, and Aides. And the PTs, OTs, and Speech Therapists were not only highly skilled and effective, but they all had amazing and genuine interpersonal skills - a very rare combination. The supporting staff from Admissions to the Social Worker/Transitions professionals, and other Staff were simply great. Other reviews mentioned issues with the food - but we found the food to be unexpectedly well-prepared and delicious! Sure, 5 weeks, 3 meals a day, to hundreds of patients, there were a couple "misses". But my Wife and I were stunned at how good the food was overall. Great job everybody! We are SO grateful that Carol was able to go to the Southington Care Center. (A Note to management... and this is NOT a SCC issue... I STRONGLY recommend you find a different Wheelchair Ambulatory Service than that from "Nazim" [860-990-1172].
