I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I am very picky with breakfast food, and try to avoid places with added preservatives, batch pre made food and mediocre entrees. This place was far beyond my expectations. This place blew me away. Seriously. The outside is a bit deceiving, it seems like your everyday middle of the road breakfast restaurant but the food is actually so well made with lots of love and care and super fresh. The avocado toast and everything else on the menu is made to order, and most of the kitchen items are made completely from scratch. Skyway Cafe has become a weekly event for us. The food is delicious; it is freshly made with fresh ingredients. It definitely tastes like we're eating at home, only better. Some of our favorites include: the meatloaf dinner, the spinach and cheese omelette, the egg, ham, and cheese croissant, the grilled chicken sandwich., to name a few. In all honesty, whatever you choose from the menu will be delicious. The waitstaff are all awesome; they all try to please and give you the best service possible, and they do it with a smile. This company is price gouging, and should be boycotted until they learn a valuable lesson. This restaurant, and many others, are charging $1 per egg additional, when their additional cost, is no more than 30 cents per egg. That means they're profiting 70 cents per egg per customer. Do the math at what they're making at our expense. We're all struggling right now, and when they decide to take advantage of us, that's nothing short of gouging. It doesn't cost more money for them to obtain the eggs. They don't have to sanitize them. They don't have to change their buying habits. How can they justify such an exorbitant increase? Ask them when you get there and they'll tell you that everybody is doing it. Is that a good excuse? Don't complain about it. Take decisive action and review their company with a one star review. Stop the price gouging. They also charged me $1.10 for an ounce of honey for my coffee. Do you think they pay $1.10 for that additional ounce, or do you think they're profiting $0.80 per ounce? I understand them wanting to offset their costs, but they're robbing us when we're at our most vulnerable. If this doesn't pee you off.. there's something wrong. People read the reviews and people that stand on their principles, will avoid companies like these. I won't give this company any more of my money.. You can bet on that. This is a great place and the staff could not be more welcoming. I have been visited this area two weekends in a row as I travel through Florida (for a total of at least 4 meals). I must say it has not disappointed. The breakfast items are well prepared and plentiful. I tried a couple of lunch items, and they were great as well. This is a family run restaurant and you feel like family while you are there. They get to know you and your guests and when you come back you are always greeted like a regular. It is very cozy and has a definite "HOME" feel. It is always busy, but even on the weekends there was a minimal amount of wait time (10 mins). Great outdoor patio with dog friendly seating. They ensure that those who may not want to be greeted by a dog upon entry are seated away from the main door. Nice touch. read more

Out on the town I randomly started getting a craving for breakfast so I called up my sister and met her at Skyway cafe for Brunch. We both showed up and we're seated immediately there was nobody inside we were able to order pretty quickly and get everything for the kids and ourselves without hassle. Our server Alina was amazing! and she was very attentive to the kids and questions we had about the menu, our food came out probably 13 minutes after we ordered and everything looked delicious The stuffed French toast was good for some reason when it said cream cheese I thought it was an icing but actual cream cheese it was still good just not what I was expecting, the Pancakes were a hit and the sausage links here are really thick but soft to chew it wasn't bad I actually liked it. The Nutella banana crepes is a HUGE serving we only got through one it was stuffed, the crepe itself is not as thin and crisp as a regular crepe this one is more eggy but good. read more

Such a cute little spot! It's not super close to the skyway, so I'm not sure of the name, but a nice little breakfast place. Neither myself or my friend ordered wrong. Even though the prices are on point, especially for the amount of food you get, we were stuffed and cleaned our entire plates. Tip - get the pancakes mixed in with a topping (IMO chocolate chips or nothing) & sit outside if it's nice! I'm pretty traditional with my breakfast preferences, so I get the Spartan omelet w/ no feta, a side of bacon and home fries, or the veggie skillet w/ no cheese. I've always had pleasant experiences here with good service and good food. Can't say it's one of my most-visited breakfast spots, but when I lived nearby it was more of a weekend go-to! I typically prefer hash browns to home fries, but I ask for these extra crispy and I like them - just usually need to add salt! read more

I have been wanting to try this place out for months!! I pass it all the time and always say: I should grab breakfast there one day. Well, finally, I stopped by for breakfast and I'm glad I did!! I came here on a Friday morning around 10 AM. It wasn't too busy. There were a few tables outside that were available and it looked like they were quite a few available inside. We were able to pick our seats and we opted to sit outside because of Covid. The only thing that stunk about eating outside was that people were able to smoke. But I just don't like smoking so that's more of a personal preference. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He was constantly giving us refills of our drinks as well as recommending a few things off of the menu. I got the southern breakfast, which was a biscuits and gravy with eggs and hash. They were delicious! I feel like I would get it again, however their menu has so many good choices, that when I go again I want to try something new! Oh and by the way, The biscuits were so so so tasty!!!! Highly recommend. We did not have to wait too too long for our food. I feel like it maybe took 15 to 20 minutes. Covid stats: The staff wore masks and it looks like they also wipe the menus after people use them. Mel and I used to be regulars at Skyway Cafe when we lived in the Gateway area of St. Petersburg. Every Saturday morning and some Sundays for years we were there to enjoy their classic greasy-spoon fare. Then we moved to the Gulfport area, and getting back up that way just for breakfast became impractical. But this past Saturday we had a few errands to run up there and we both had the same thought at the same time about breakfast: SKYWAY! We were thrilled to discover that the place hasn't changed since pre-pandemic times much at all. Many of the same faces working there, including the same family owning and operating, the same menu, save delicious offerings. If anything, it was actually better -- grits a little firmer, medium-poached eggs perfectly delivered, sausage and toast picture-perfect -- but that may have had to do with us showing up a little after midday and missing the major breakfast rush. Here's what you really need to know: Skyway Cafe is no frills dining, but it's clean, friendly, and usually fast. Though we went there for breakfast 98 percent of the time, we've tried them for lunch and their sandwiches and grill items are delicious, as well. They've got plenty of parking, thanks to the fact that they share a lot with the Winn-Dixie supermarket next door. If you go on the weekends and show up between 9 and 11 a.m., expect to be waiting for a table. It's not a big place, but it's popular with everyone living in all the apartment complexes in that part of town, so be warned. As for favorites on the menu, Mel LOVES their corned beef hash. It's the canned variety, but it's still seasoned and grilled to perfection. As for me, I've always been a fan of their S.O.S. combo (biscuits with sausage gravy), their Hobo Hash (think of an omelet with just about everything, including home fries, thrown in, and their country fried steak. And most of all, it's the people here that will keep bringing you back. The Greek family that owns Skyway Cafe puts everything they have into it -- they're there on the busiest days, delivering quality and smiles, and they hire good people to spread that positive attitude with the service. Stopped here after an early morning flight and it was great. The portions are very big so we had decent leftovers to munch on. Once we finally placed our order, we waited an additional 25 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did, only my son's meal and my toast came out, but unfortunately, my toast was cold. After another 8 minutes of waiting, my meal finally arrived, but it was incorrect. At that point, my son was nearly finished with his food.
