Nick and I stopped at Lenny's for a quick lunch and it exceeded our expectations. He ordered the chicken salad sandwich with potato salad, and I had the half sandwich and salad combo, choosing the ham and Swiss on sourdough with Thousand Island dressing for my salad. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Our table came with a complimentary relish tray, and honestly, that ended up being our favorite part. The coleslaw on that tray was the absolute best coleslaw I've ever had in my life. We were laughing that we would come back just for the coleslaw alone. Lorraine was our server, and she knew the menu front and back. She made great suggestions and provided friendly, attentive service. Overall, excellent food, great service, and very fair pricing. Tried this place while visiting Clearwater and boy was I disappointed. The food was underwhelming across the board. The chicken and waffles were chewy, the pancakes were nothing special, and the breakfast potatoes honestly looked like slop drowning in onions. What really sealed it for me, though, was checking out and being greeted by shelves of MAGA and Trump-themed hot sauces and merchandise. Had I seen that display when we walked in, I would have turned right around and spent my money somewhere else. I don't expect a breakfast restaurant to share my political views--I'd just prefer not to have politics served alongside my pancakes. If you're looking for a good breakfast in an apolitical environment, this is probably not the place for you. read more

From the numerous signs on the walls and ceiling, to the decorated windows, I guarantee you will not be bored. Great atmosphere means nothing without good food. I rate all diner type establishments by their hash browns and bacon. Lenny's serves home fries, which qualifies. The potatoes are nicely browned and have NO grease. The bacon is perfect. Crunchy without being chewy, and NO grease. I ordered the Portobello Benedict ($14.99) and a side of bacon ($4.99). My breakfast came with a complimentary basket of danish pastry. Dave W tells me the pastry is a Lenny's trademark tradition. The portobello was fantastic! Lots of mushrooms with a tasty hollandaise sauce. Long wait times made better by calling ahead to get on a waitlist- we were seated as soon as we walked through the crowd. Our server was in complete control and made sure to keep his customers happy with refills and quick delivery of food coming out of the kitchen. The staff was a well oiled machine, churning out excellent breakfast dishes and cycling in the next wave. To be clear, you were NOT rushed to finish. I ordered a breakfast platter of two eggs over medium, with scrapple and grits and an up charge for their in-house bagel wet with butter: over the top! Scrapple, polish sausage, corned beef hash and other meats were some of the out of the ordinary offerings. A complimentary danish basket was also a unique and delicious starter. A very busy, popular restaurant in the Clearwater area. They were packed. When we went there actually was no parking. We had to park and walk . We did have to wait for a table, but not too long. They seem to get the food out pretty quickly. The menu is large. There are many options and some are unique. The waitress was very nice, attentive, and quick. It looks like an old diner. Great potato pancakes, but you have to pick between applesauce or sour cream (or pay extra). At the same time they are overly generous with a comp danish basket with full breakfast orders or a relish tray with full lunches, it is a cool (and unexpected if you are a newbie) touch. All food made fresh and service / kitchen keeps things moving quickly. Don't be deterred by a wait. Counter service is first come. Parking can seem like a challenge however you can park anywhere from the restaurant north to Drew Street, including around and behind the motel. We were visiting my folks in St. Petersburg, looking for a good diner, and did Lenny's restaurant ever hit it out of the park! First off the coffee is amazing, second the restaurant is a beautiful eclectic celebration of quirkiness, our waitress knew the menu inside and out was quick on the refills, and overall just spectacular! Let's go to the food, look at the pictures we all had a different version of the hearty breakfast. My son had pancakes and an omelette, I had the country fried steak, breakfast potatoes with onions, and eggs over easy. I love a good country fried steak with sausage gravy and this was one of the best I've had! Sorry, no pictures but my wife had eggs, bacon and hashbrowns and so did my daughter. They both love them. Worth the drive from Temple Terrace! Try to get here early because it gets busy during peak hours. My favorite is their homemade matzoball soup. They also make a delicious tuna melt. The baby got a Mickey Mouse pancake but just didn't taste right and barely touched it. The meatloaf was great and juicy. The matzo ball soup was so delicious! I'd get the big bowl next time. This is one of my fav local breakfast spots! Been going here since I was a kid and I am happy to see they have stuck with their eclectic style. I love how they use recycled materials as decore and stick to a traditional menu with amazing quality food items. Although I am gluten free my mom did thoroughly enjoy the free danishes and we both had a really excellent meal! I got the western inlet with gf pancakes and she got an omelet with potatoes. We had breakfast here three days in a row. Before I begin our Marriott was within walking distance lol The first day we had Michelle. Her suggestions for my husband's Reuben did not disappoint. I had the Yvonne (basically BLT w/avocado - I had turkey bacon with mine). I was completely stuffed. The pastry samples were delicious (especially that crumb cake cheesecake one WOW) The second day we had Lorraine, what a hoot!! We opted for French toast. My husband had the pumpkin French toast with cinnamon butter along with the home fries (that basically had everything on them). I'm not sure how he ate so much but damn it was good. I had the cinnamon roll French toast and didn't need anything on it. It was sweet enough but not overpowering. This morning we had Lorraine again and she did not disappoint lol My husband had the New York bagel. He said tasted great only thought it could use more smear (his opinion). I opted for the avocado and toast with two eggs and home fries. Needless to say I couldn't finish it. Very filling. When we come back to Tampa - we'll definitely be stopping by again. Before the trip, I joined a few online fan groups to get ideas on places to visit while we were in town, and many longtime Phillies fans said that going to Lenny's Restaurant before the games was a must. Wow, this ended up being one of the best recommendations we received. Yes, the place gets packed and you'll likely have to wait (so get there early), but it's absolutely worth it. The staff is super friendly and helpful with menu selections, the value is excellent for the portions you get, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. We actually ended up going twice for breakfast during our trip. The standout for my wife was the hash browns, and for me it was definitely the pancakes.
