After a couple of hours sight seeing, we took a wrong turn and ended up in this town and stumbled onto this beauty. It's like a new generation of Thai food for us. Not at all what we're used to or have ever tasted. It was great! A very intimate, joyous fellowship broke out with great friends and an even better atmosphere. Seating is outdoors only and you're surrounded by flowers and the very vegetables we were about to eat. Very surreal! I believe it's the first time I've ordered food and they literally grew it outside the eatery. It was all delicious and I highly recommend you get lost and stumble into them, yourself. I love this place!

Finally made it and they only do take out and cater to just make the food rather than providing at all any public service. No one greets you or offers assistance especially with how the online menu you would order on at this location. Even after waiting and calling out to the people preparing the food for help I still did not get what I ordered completely I was missing the blue rice which would have kept a star up but because I was denied what I asked what was pictured and even paid more since there was a lunch special and told if you want what is pictured on the menu order the dinner item Their online menu isn't updated so don't look at their website Their other locations are way better than this spot which is an express only with rude employees I definitely suggest the other locations in Oakland and Palo Alto Beautiful areas with great customer service and they present their food instead of getting missing items over priced take out only. I will say the food was still delicious and I ate everything but with the blue rice that extra star would be there Expect No help To go only And missing items with the miss communication of rude service The reason stars fell off on my end The 2 stars I did give was just for the food still being delicious but that missing rice made it seem not amazing as the sit down locations aside from here And the other star was for it being close by to me so convenient I would had told all my family and friends but I will tell them to never go here unless you just want the food ok but check the items before leaving Go to their other locations the food and service is far way better than here

The food is exceptionally fresh, and you can tell each dish is prepared with care. The Salmon Mango Salad is outstanding--one of the freshest salads I've ever had. The Pad Thai is perfectly balanced and not overly tamarind-heavy like many others I've tried. The lunch special is also a great deal, with two entrées plus rice and your choice of soup or salad. The service staff are very attentive and friendly.

My partner and I usually come for the basic comfort items like Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew, Lao Sausage, and/or their sampler. Occasionally we'd get their papaya salad, Tom Yum soup, or other entrees to share, but I do feel that they don't execute those dishes as well as the basics we frequently return for. I may be critiquing them harder than others on their papaya salad and Nam Khao because my mom does it best (no bias...). However, their portions are large and the flavors are great all around. I think they do some items better than others, but I have yet to be disappointed by any of their food. It's always great to try something new on the menu and be pleasantly surprised. But aside from the food, the customer service and ambiance encourages us to come back every time. They're kind, patient, and attentive all around. Whether we're just picking up food, dining in at peak times or during the quiet hours, they always deliver a great experience. Their dining room is fairly large and they have a softer lighting that compliments that TLC decor well. Through and through, Chai Thai is consistent and reliable.

The staff greeted me right away and got me seated while I waited for my friends. They have a lot of inside seating and its clean. Our waiter recommended a few of his favorites, and honestly, he did not miss. The chicken curry puffs and the sizzling basil rice were standouts. It was my first time trying them, and now I'm hooked. I'd definitely come back just for those.

We started with the Laos-style Papaya Salad, a salty, spicy, pungent combination of shredded papaya, carrots, tomatoes, green beans, and Thai eggplant mixed with a chili garlic lime dressing and salted crab. From the specials menu, the Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles in a creamy coconut curry broth, topped with crispy fried noodles, red onions, lime, and pickled mustard greens, served with a choice of protein (I got the tender boneless chicken thigh). Next, the Fried Chicken and Roti was a huge piece of fried chicken served on top of a thick, flaky, layered roti, along with a fried egg, yellow curry sauce, and cucumber salad. The most comical part of the dish was the fried chicken, which looked impressive, but was composed almost entirely of crunchy batter surrounding a thin layer of meat in the middle. Not sure whether I was disappointed or amused. The Grilled Coconut Salmon was a salmon fillet marinated in coconut milk, lemongrass, onion, curry paste, kaffir lime leaf, and basil, then wrapped and grilled in a banana leaf. The flavorful, aromatic, tender salmon was served with jasmine rice, steamed vegetables, and a strong chili garlic sauce on the side. Finally, the dish I was most excited about trying was the Khan Toke, a huge platter with a ton of different items for sharing. The vegan version came with hung lay curry with vegan meatballs, jackfruit salad (my favorite component), tofu stir-fried with pineapple, nam prik noom (green chili dip), deep-fried puffs filled with curry potato, puffs filled with taro paste, fried tofu, fried tofu skin, fried vegan meat, mixed vegetables with coconut milk (including greens, eggplant, pumpkin), and sticky rice. While the platter definitely looked colorful and impressive, most of the items were disappointingly bland or mediocre in flavor. This one dish was skippable, but everything else we ordered was delicious and came at a good value with friendly service too!

Then, as much as we loved the banh mi, the banner and the sidewalk sign advertising them as a new lunch option last year seemed almost like they were really, really trying to pull in more people any way they could. Every time I walked past this place, it was either empty or there were one to two tables with guests at a time. So when the word finally broke a few days ago that the owners have sold the place and are closing, I felt really sad, but wasn't surprised. It's definitely the end of an era, and is one of those longtime San Leandro restaurants in this strip of E 14th that has a comforting, early 2000s vibe -- and is now gone, like so many before them. It's frustrating, especially because the likelihood of them possibly getting replaced by a chain or yet another taqueria or Chinese place is high (though they apparently don't know what will be moving in after them). Dropped by yesterday with my husband for a final lunch. He got the bun bo hue and I got the yellow curry stir fry and fried rice. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious, and the restaurant was nearly entirely full with people having their own last meals and saying their goodbyes to the owners. While the owner was incredibly nice, service was terrible. She was overworked, working the counter, packing up to-go orders, taking table orders, bringing out food, AND bussing tables alone. The party next to us was a little frustrated that she still hadn't come by to take their order and went to the counter to flag her down. I don't know how much longer Le Soleil would've remained viable if service has been like this for months. It's a sad situation, but I wish nothing but the best for the owners, especially if they decide to open another restaurant in the future.

Steamed chicken with ginger rice, soooo good! The rice had so much flavor, chicken was tender and that ginger sauce I could put that on a salad for dressing 2. Papaya Salad: I wasnt a fan of the container being filled with half lettuce, felt like the papaya portion was small, BUT the flavors were on point. 3. Crispy Pork: Unfortunately not a dish that travels well but the flavor was on point. Sweet and salty. 4. Thai Iced Tea: a little TOO sweet, had to let the ice melt for it to be the right balance on the sugar, but after that it was fine 5. Veggie Gyoza: I wanted to love these, but I was missing having a meat version. So so, probably wouldnt order again. All in all a good meal!

For this rainy weather pork leg stew is pure Asian comfort food. Both items are yummy options with the Thai pork leg stew (Khao kha mu) being sweet and savory with a variety of textures from the pork (gelatinous skin), tender meat along with other elements in this dish. NN Thai's version was good and reminded me of the Chinese-style of pickled pigs feet with sweet, dark vinegar. The side of pickled mustard greens, Chinese broccoli, steamed rice, boiled egg and side of garlic, chili vinegar helped to cut thru the sweetness as I'm usually not a fan of more sweet in my savory dishes. Just a preference For a ghost kitchen, it's a rarity a business interacts with the customer but the 2 owners/chef went above and beyond. There was a minor issue (system issues) with my order which to be honest didn't have much thought. The owner went out of her way and met with me to apologize for the delay, explained they're working out the kinks and offered a complimentary beverage which was not expected. A super sweet gesture and great customer service. Thank you! BTW the drinks were amazing!
