    Pineapple fried rice with shrimp
    DrDuru A.

Cozy place to kick back and enjoy delicious Thai food. Friendly and helpful staff. I tried money bags for the first time. Almost like a spring roll, but more flavorful. I love the name too. Pineapple fried rice is always my standard bearer for a place serving Thai food. This one is a solid 4 stars. It's good and has the flavor I like but was missing just a little bit of kick. I also prefer cashews and a deeper curry flavor. Otherwise, I enjoyed it and the portions are plentiful!

Quality/Quantity - It has been a long time since we have been here. Looks like the same family/employees are still working here. Today we got the following: A7. Money Bags - My wife always gets this; she must really like it. A1. Stuffed Angel Wings - WOW, my favorite! My wife preferred stuffed Angel Wings from Spice I Am (not sure why I do NOT have a review on this restaurant?!?!), but this is my new favorite for stuffed Angel Wings!! E2 Pad Se Ew Chicken - Still my daughter's favorite. Overall good. E4. Pad Thai beef - My usual go-to which was also good. Overall the meal was good, and we even had a little left over, but then again, we are also light eaters. Lunch menus are also available. Atmosphere - Decent size restaurant. Interesting shape, but it lends well to private or semi private events. Free limited (2 hours) street parking. Notice the warning signs of car break-ins, be safe. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 9pm; closed Mondays. Service - Good. Price - $70 + tip; reasonably priced. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since July of 2021.

My husband and I dined here for lunch. They have an ALL DAY menu, no lunch. It's a little pricey. When we walked-in, I noticed a thumping sound. My husband said it was their AC. It was annoying me since I am sensitive to sound. We picked a table away from the cash register where the thumping sound was coming from. We ordered: Lao Sausage 3 1/2 Stars, Good, but small Beef Salad 4 Stars, needed more lime juice, too sweet Drunken Noodles 5 Stars, Excellent Mango Fish 3 Stars, sauce too sweet, skinny fish (hardly meat) Service was good. I had to flag down the servers to refill our waters several times.

This place was soooo good! When my husband & I came it was Saturday early afternoon no one was there but maybe 2 other little families so it was quiet. It had just opened. The food c was delicious! Staff was very welcoming & very attentive. Definitely will be going back.

sweet sour basil wings (only 6 of them for $17)

Somehow I had a combination poor experience. Pros: Very good service! Nice environment. Cons: small portion. $17 basal wings may have only 6 small to medium wings. Most gredients in the dish are pine apple chops, onion, and carrots (one carrot piece seemed to be rotten). The peanuts coming w/ the Thai noodles were rancid. We had to pick them out of our kid's plate. We two adults plus a young kid ordered three dishes and I walked out still hungry. Will not revisit.

My best friend and I like to have monthly girls' night dinners and this has become the restaurant of choice. We like the clean, chic, intimate feel and the the traditional Thai menu. We always open with shrimp spring rolls and then our usual main dish picks: Drunken noodle for me and Chicken yellow curry for her. Last time, I got the fresh and light papaya salad. The portion was so large I was able to pack up some to go. I know there have been some notes about service: I have always found them polite, prompt, and helpful. I asked for medium spicy on my salad and our server said mild spicy would be sufficient. I'm a chili enthusiast and she was right. The salad had quite a kick. I will absolutely be back. Friday night dinner is the besties' version of Sunday brunch.

    Pad See Ew

The food was amazing!! The khao soi (curry noodle dish) had great, deep flavor! The curry was not too watery! The pad see ew had a nice, smoky flavor from the wok hei, and was savory! My personal favorite dish was the beef satay with the peanut sauce. The meat was extremely tender, savory, and aromatic. The thai tea was also not too sweet, which is a great thing when you're in your 30s like me . The service was great!! Food came out on time, and waters were refilled quickly.

My little plate:chicken satay, rice, beef & broccoli

Stopped by for a quick lunch as we await for the car to be ready for pickup. We shared the Chicken Satay with a tasty sauce, Beef and Broccoli with a dish of rice. My dining buddy had the Thai ice tea . We were full and sassy! Glad to make the impromptu stop and will be revisiting soon to try other dishes real soon. Service was punctual, food came out hot and quickly delivered to our table. The two servers check in on us from time to time.

SL KITCHEN IS AMAZING! Service is always good the ladies are always smiling and being accommodating. We come here almost every 2 weeks now , the food is always hot and fresh they haven't disappointed us at all. Small and intimate for either dates , family gathering or catching up with friends! Please support your local business

Every single dish was a BANGER. Not to mention the service was impeccable and hospitality was 10/10. I will 10000% be coming back.

A friend told me about this spot and I finally made my way out to the East Bay for a try, and I'm glad I did! They offered Thai and Laos dishes and everything I tried tasted pretty authentic. We got the drunken noodle with prawns, Thai money bags, Thai waterfall beef salad, and of course Thai tea for lunch and finished it off with some friend bananas with strawberry ice cream and mango and sticky rice for dessert. Everything was really good and I def will be going back soon to try other dishes!

Crispy fried chicken over fried rice

Come here for the food, but don't expect much when it comes to service, which is next to non-existent. I've been here twice now, once for a weeknight dinner and once for a Sunday lunch. Both times, service has been limited to a cool greeting, being seated, having our order taken, and our food dropped off. Both times, the waitresses disappeared for the rest of the meal and flagging them down was an act of patience and determination, as they'd almost intentionally not make eye contact with anyone while rushing around the restaurant. It's bad enough for me to knock off a star. As for the food, it's unbelievably delicious. From the green curry to the panang curry, from the crispy spring rolls to the money bags, fried chicken over fried rice, and pad ka po, nearly everything here has been simply delicious. The only dish I didn't enjoy was the papaya salad, which was *really* heavy on the fish sauce and very unpleasant to eat. Otherwise, everything else is on the "would order again" list. Spice levels are no joke here. I love my spicy food but have to tone it down at SL Kitchen; I usually get the medium spice, which is plenty enough heat without causing discomfort and killing most of the flavors of your dish. SL Kitchen is a bit pricey, but I've come home with leftovers both times so I've at least gotten a couple meals out of each visit. You won't leave here hungry. Highly recommend for the food, but don't come here if you're on a tight schedule or don't like sitting around waiting. (There may be a reason why this place is so popular for takeout...) The restaurant at least has a nice interior, which makes for nice ambiance while eating and trying to flag down someone for a drink refill or the check.

We had the purple-colored Ube Pancakes and the Khao Hom Waffle, which contained strips of fresh coconut meat, and both beautifully-plated dishes were topped with berries and syrup. I was an even bigger fan of the Thai side of the menu, starting with the Papaya Salad, a refreshing, crunchy mixture of shredded papaya, green beans, tomatoes, and crushed peanut in a spicy, sweet, acidic dressing made of fish sauce and lime. For our mains, the Northern Thai Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles and chicken breast strips in a rich coconut curry, topped with crispy egg noodles, pickled cabbage, and fried shallots. From the Chef's Special menu, the Tom Yum Crab Omelet was a mound of jasmine rice enveloped with an egg omelet, topped with chunks of crab, mushrooms, and a creamy tom yum sauce; and my favorite dish was the Roti Gai Tod, a hearty combination of breaded chicken thigh, roti (a flaky flatbread), cucumber salad, jasmine rice, and a mild but flavorful yellow curry sauce on the side. Overall, everything we tried here was delicious, and the service was super quick and friendly too! Tom Yum Crab Omelette- the best one to get since it has creamy tom yum sauce, a soft omelette, drizzled with a slice of lime, and crab meat with a few mushroom slices on top of fluffy rice. Khao Hom Waffle- coconut pandan waffle with fruits and syrup on the side. I wish they replaced the syrup with coconut milk syrup for better flavor and used no coconut shreds as a topping. Ube Pancake (side order)- one thick ube pancake that turned out dry when eaten with syrup. Never order anything that is not Thai on the menu. They should add Thai Tea pancakes to their menu with housemade Thai Tea syrup to make it more fusion. Pad Kee Mao w/ Chicken- I regret ordering this because the string beans were half raw, the tofu was dry, and the dish was a bit spicy. I should've ordered Pad Thai or Ka-Pow Short Rib Benedict instead. Thai Tea- strong and sweet, not too watery. It was less crowded when we arrived at 10 am on the weekend. The waitresses were fast and efficient, and the restaurant was nice and spacious.

The inside is busy busy busy! Lots of people like to come by for lunch and it can get pretty loud inside. It's not really big inside, but luckily we were able to grab a table when we came by. Not sure how busy they get at night time, but I came during a Sunday lunch time and was able to be seated and there were plenty of seats. Parking isn't the easiest to find though, it's only street parking from what I could see and not too much of it. I had the chance to try out the Tom Yum, Green Curry, Laab Seen, Mok Pla, Pad Kee Mao, and Lao Sausages. I felt a bit split about the food, i think some dishes were VERY good but a few could have been a bit better flavor wise for the price point. -The Tom yum soup was good but a little on the saltier side, the bowl was sizable emougj for about 5 people with seconds for all. -Green Curry was pretty good! Hot and yummy, I really likes the veggie variety inside -Laab Seen was pretttyy good, i definitely don't think many places have the different beef cuts in the same laab -Mok Pla was very good! I wish there was more vegetable variety, the amount of veggies you get kind of overwhelm the amount of fish you get. It was very good but it can be hard to ratio the meat to veggies -Pad Kee Mao(Drunken Noodles) yummyyyy!! I honestly think this was probably my favorite kf the dishes i got. I think the serving size was smaller than I had hoped for but it tasted really good nonetheless. -Lao Sausages were really packed on the plate!! You get a lot for what you pay for, most places only give you a few pieces and charge you an entree price. I wish there was more tomato sauce (jaew) but the flavor of the sausages were decent, i think they could have been more savory Overall, the food was all great! Alameda has a lot of great food options but even with all those options, Bhan Mae Vane dominates the food list! Even outside of Alameda, it is one of the more popular Thai/Lao places for a reason. The service is good, most of the food came out relatively fast like 10-15 minutes. The Mok Pla took the longest, probably around 30 minutes but not sure if that is standard. Anyways, for the most part I really enjoyed the experience here. I think anyone who is a hardcore Thai/Laotian food fan would be satisfied coming here :)

We decided to try this place craving something new, and we weren't disappointed. It wasn't busy around 6pm, but the vibes were really cute inside. I love the patio area they have. Would be perfect for a group meet up on a nice day. We ordered the pork sausage to start, the saikoo which according to my fiance is a must for laotian food, the yellow curry, and the crab fried rice. Everything was genuinely amazing. Here are my rankings below: Sausage: 8.5/10 Crab Fried Rice: (with the fish sauce) 9.5/10 Saikoo: (with the fish sauce) 9.5/10 Yellow Curry: 9/10 Would definitely order everything again. It's not quite thai, but thai with a twist I'd say. Bit on the pricey side, but everything was so fresh and you can see where the chefs are making everything, so you know you're getting quality. And the portions honestly made it really worth it. Such a great place! Will 100% be back.

Finally, my son and I met for lunch here and am I ever glad we did. First of all, the restaurant itself might look like a hole in the wall from the outside, but, don't be fooled! Stepping inside, I found a bright and cheery (about 5 table?) dining room with a small additional alcove room where a couple of tables were filled with ladies who lunch. The hostess/wait person was so friendly and welcoming, bringing us a nice cold bottle of water right away. Then, the menu. We went with the lunch specials. II ordered the classic pad Thai with shrimp. The shrimp (about 4) were plump and not overcooked, the rest of the items that we all know from a traditional pad Thai were all fresh, the plate well composed. A real winner. The special included a side so we both had the Tom Kha with chicken. It did not disappoint, what with a savory coconut broth, and red onion balanced off the mushrooms, lemon grass, galangal. The chicken was generously portioned. My son had the pad se ew with pork belly. This dish also was a standout, with crispy edged pork belly and tender meat being the star of the show. The flat noodles also had a nice chewy, neither underdone nor overdone but just right. It was laced with a soy sauce and some sweetness running in the background. We also had a crisp salad with a balanced dressing (sweet and sour tasting). All for $15.99 (that's the base price, shrimp and pork belly are extra). We will definitely go back to try the curries. The drunken noodles and the roti also beckon.

I was lucky to find parking one block away. I shared with a few friends at home, and we loved everything we ate. The broken rice had sausage which was a nice surprise. I love my boat noodle soup, perfect balance of rich flavors and not spicy. Papaya salad was suppose to be mild, but it tastes spicier than that. I also enjoyed the Thai tea, was not too much milk. It was made perfect.

But we got the pad see ew and the fried rice here with a drink (total $44) because we were starving and didn't have time for dinner before meeting up with a friend group to bowl - and I was pleasantly surprised at the value of what we got?? Pros: - The 2 dishes we ordered, came with HUGE portions - I was so surprised because I expected it to be overpriced (since it's inside the bowling alley and the place also services bar food/fried food fitting for a bowling alley) - Tasted pretty good honestly! not bad. it didn't hold up well later in the night or the next day, but not terrible. - decent amount of veggies and meat in the pad see ew! - Pretty quick service, food came out in less than 10 mins, and they gave us a buzzer so we knew when the food was ready Cons: - obviously service can be a bit hit or miss, but it's a bowling alley, so set your expectations accordingly Overall, I wouldn't come out of my way to eat here - but it is refreshing to not only be stuck eating fried bar food at the alley
