First thing we noticed was a packed parking lot on a Tuesday evening, maybe 100 cars - good sign and a small 17 minute wait. Pizzas are unique and each serves about one person. This place was POPPING on a Saturday night. We joined their Yelp waitlist around 5pm and it was an estimated wait of 55-85 minutes. We got there around 6:15, got checked in with the host, and were seated about 10 minutes later. I would highly recommend joining the waitlist, especially on a weekend night. We thought we were beating the crowd at 5pm, but we were totally wrong! The beer list here is HUGE! And they had two non alcoholic beers on the menu as well. Such a great selection of beers and ciders. We ordered the garlic bread and two pizzas. Each pizza is a personal size pizza, so I would recommend getting a couple to share for a party of 2. The garlic bread was good, but ours had some pieces that were a little bit burnt. It came with some freshly roasted garlic and a Gorgonzola/tomato spread. The pizzas were both great and had a ton of flavor - and the dough was delicious! This is a fun spot that's very popular, with a ton of seating and plenty of room for large parties. Love that there is a waitlist for this restaurant! I've been here multiple times for lunch and recently went during dinner. Still very busy and great service. The appetizers and food came out in a timely manner. We love the following pizzas: tikka masala, iron horse, taste like burning and hot honey dip. Our visit to Slackwater Sandy's was one of the most embarrassing and unprofessional restaurant experiences I've ever had. We walked in as a party of five and were crammed into a table way too small. We tried to make it work. Our waitress came by almost immediately and asked for drinks and appetizers before we even had a chance to open the menu. When she came back and we still weren't ready -- we were mid-conversation -- she clearly became annoyed and told us to just "put our menus on the edge of the table" when we finally decided. Uncalled for, but we moved on. We eventually ordered, but about an hour into our visit, a second woman -- a manager, I assume -- suddenly came out and confronted us. She asked if we had "been spoken to by previous managers." We were confused until she informed one of our party that he was being "86'd." No explanation, no warning -- just aggressive energy. When he calmly asked for a reason, she couldn't give one. He explained that during his last visit, a busboy snatched food out of his daughter's hand -- a completely inappropriate move that anyone would be upset about. Rather than listening or showing an ounce of professionalism, she started shaking, raised her voice, and demanded we leave. We hadn't even received all of our food, yet they brought the full bill. No offer to box up what hadn't arrived. No items removed. No apology. Just blatant hostility. We walked out with two children crying from hunger and embarrassment. This restaurant humiliated our family and made zero effort to de-escalate or act like professionals. Breweries are everywhere. Slackwater offers nothing special in terms of food, service, or atmosphere -- unless you're into public humiliation and hostility. We're locals and will be warning others to stay far away. They have some real delicious food here! The nachos are amazing, and HUGE. Their mozzarella cheese bread is so good. Watch out for the diablo cheese bread though, the waitress said it was only a tiny bit hot (and I'm someone who adds hot sauce to spicy things) and it was pretty intense. We got a bunch of pizzas; gyro, hot honey, tikka masala, one or two others I can't remember, and they were all so delicious. Their gluten free crust is fantastic as well! totally my fault that I made a reservation at the wrong slackwater however they didnt make any accommodations so we had to wait an extra hour to be seated. staff was super friendly. I ordered the nachos, and only the top like 5-6 chips had toppings on them. you lift the top chips up and the rest of the chips were completely naked. maybe a few cheese pieces and black bean here and there but it was so bad. we asked nicely if we could maybe get some more topping (chips are served warm so by the time our waiter came and "helped" they were cold, and they didn't even offer to remake them) and when we asked, they seem confused? I'm like, nachos are suppose to be covered in toppings what do you mean what do I want???? anyways, remained nice and than they proceeded to bring me out a tiny thing of salsa like 5-7 minutes later. This place is always busy. They have an online waitlist you can join which really helps. The food is delicious. Everything I have ordered here, I've enjoyed. Some of the pizza options are unique but so good. I've never ordered something I haven't liked. It is pretty loud in the restaurant so it can be very hard to talk and hear people. One of the times I was here, they had a girl sing and play the guitar but it was so hard to hear her because it was noisy. She honestly just added to the noise. read more

We came here in a Wednesday night and it was packed. (30+ minute wait) The feel is kind of a sporty high end brew pub. It could easily have been placed in park city in my mind. The night we were there they were handing out KUHL swag if you bought a Melvin beer. Super fun place to come visit. Our nachos were good but over broiled and burnt. The pizza dough is amazing and cooked perfectly. The toppings were just ok except for the Italian sausage... that was great. I will just build my own pizza next time I come. GLUTEN FREE - CELIAC REVIEW Went here for a dinner with friends and had a good experience. However, the options are very limited if you have celiac disease. The pizzas are cooked in the same over with the gf pizzas just being in a separate area of the oven; so high chance of cross contamination. They do have a separate fryer for their tortilla chips and potato chips. The wings may or may not get fried in the same oil as the beignets (depends on "how busy they get"). Staff was very friendly and willing to answer questions and was knowledgeable about cross contamination. I had the spinach artichoke dip with no problems. read more

We used the waitlist reminders so we could eat at 6- the restaurant was packed but we were able to get in! The food here is always great. You really can't find a bad thing on the menu. However- they are pretty busy and I'm starting to wonder if they're understaffed. Last time we came they forgot one person's meal, this time our appetizer didn't come until after our meal because our waitress forgot. No biggie, and I get it, the place is busy! Wow, this place is poppin! My friends and I tried going last week and were quoted an hour and a half wait, so this time we discovered you could get on the waitlist beforehand, and so we did it through Yelp! It was awesome to have live updates on where we were in line and having an estimated time for when we could get a table. Once we arrived shortly after the estimated time, it was about 20 minutes before we got a table. We were seated right in front of the platform where bands/artists play, so it was a little loud, but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. Our server was great! He was very attentive, making sure we had enough water and came around frequently enough for us to order drinks, appetizers, and food despite how busy it was. We ordered nachos to share, and I had the February special sangria, which almost tasted like strawberry lemonade. The nachos were delicious! All the toppings were fresh, and the chips weren't soggy from the toppings. For our entree, my friend and I shared a Grape & Gorg; it was delicious! So glad they put a slackwater down here in SLC. This is a pizza joint with a twist. They have a variety of pizzas that are normally different foods you would try. I've always gotten the sunrise pizza which was one of my favorites until I tried the gyro pizza! Those are my top two! I have also tried their tika masala pizza and that was great too. Staff here is always friendly and they always have great service. They have a good selection of drinks, I'm not a big drinker but their sangria that they have is AMAZING. So definitely get the pitcher because you'll want more! Overall I love this place. I come here often. There was a little bit of a wait, but well worth it. The service was great, food was on point and prices are great. It's a popular spot and the energy level is high. You definitely need your outside voice to communicate, but it's a fun vibe and everyone seems happy. Would recommend you try the California Sunrise Pizza. My absolute favorite pizza is "the Italian job" it's topped with feta cheese and Peppercinis! The black bean hummus is also delicious. It you can't go wrong with really anything on the menu. This place gets packed for dinner so make sure to join the online waitlist. Parking is plentiful and the restaurant itself fits lots of parties.
