    Restaurant holiday vibe
    Ethan L.

The ambiance is nice. They do a great job decorating the place for the holidays and it shows. The menu is also updated to be holiday themed. The ceviche is very tasty. It has a strong lemon flavor that is characteristic of the dish. They service it with salted chips. I ordered the Bread Zeppelin. It's a garlic cheese knot that is easy on the garlic and cheese. The sauce was very tasty and not overdone. We also got the Drunk Chicken sandwhich and it was tasty. Although it left more to be desired. The chicken wasn't bad but it tasted like it was either frozen or under fried. Next time I'd like to try their pizza, which looked to be pretty tasty.

If you find yourself in Salt Lake City you must try this little bar/restaurant!!! The staff were so great to squeeze us in before they closed for a private event. Everything was amazing. I started with the White Lady which was a fabulous drink and my husband had the Montucky Cold Snack on the server's recommendation. It was a local beer he thoroughly enjoyed. For dinner we split the shrimp ceviche which was plentiful and amazing. My drink complimented it perfectly. We also split the honey hot wings which were huge and delicious! They came out piping hot and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Since they were closing they also gave us recommendations on other places to enjoy for an evening nightcap. Overall the best experience!

Loved this cute downtown bar. The food was excellent, drinks were good, service was great and overall vibe was chill. We enjoyed the Mosh Pit Nachos and A Spicy Gabagool pizza. Both were excellent! Will be back!

Very nice cocktails. I especially liked the "Scotty Doesn't Know". And I liked the margherita pizza the best of their pizza selection. And the live jazz was great. A grateful shout out to the Soundwall crew.

A lot to love about this place - service rocks (thanks, Brian/ BT)! Cocktails and beer selection rock! Pizza and appetizers rock! Great space with tall ceilings, exposed brick, big base coming from the club.

3.5/5 -- A new spot in downtown slc, located conveniently next to a few other bars. The staff were kind and helpful and the overall vibe was ok. I think if they took the lighting down it would help create more of the energy they are going for, there are a few bright overhead can lights that stood out in the wrong way. The drinks were good and refreshing. We tried the "Legally Different" monkey bread dessert, which wasn't great, we sent it back, it was a bit overcooked and something about the cream cheese tasted off. They brought out the s'mores dessert instead and that was better but I wouldn't go back for it, I would go back for that drink though!

Food was great and love the neighborhood vibe just wish it wasn't so dang loud. Maybe it's the acoustics? This kind of spot shouts for meetup with friends not pick up place. You should be able to hold a conversation.

This place was a great time! I ordered a sweet drink that my server recommended - it was tall and had a good presentation, but had a bit too much ice. My server was amazing and convinced me to bring friends next time. The California style pizza was amazing- I had never had dill on pizza before, but they nailed the flavor combinations on that one! They have one of those authentic Italian brick ovens, and their tofu and mushroom lettuce wraps were tasty. The band music was the best part; nice venue although small inside, you are sure to have a great time with friends and live music.

This is a bar with great atmosphere, live music, and solid pizza. I wouldn't come here just for the pizza, but it's tasty nonetheless. It's thin crust, brick oven, pizza-light. I like to keep my pizza classic, but the different flavors here are worth trying. Also - they have a robust menu of non-alcoholic drinks (pictured) which I always appreciate. I got one of their mock tails and it was delicious.

Their drunk chicken sandwich was great! Like a chicken parm with pesto and arugala. I was not expecting it to be that good.

But I wanted a drink and was willing to take the risk, and I'm glad I did, because it was nothing like I imagined. Bartender was friendly and helpful. There was a decent amount of people watching the soccer game on tv, we were all cheering for Colombia, but then they lost, so most of them cleared out. Vibe kinda died after that. But nonetheless I had a great time, and I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere. Plus 6$ mules and .50 cent pool is hard to beat. I guess they serve food but I don't know how good it is. Only downside is that's there's just one toilet, luckily I didn't have to wait to use it while I was there.

Drinks are cheap and so are their Hennessy shots at $7 each! Plenty of seating available, but everyone seems to congregate at the bar. I soon found that the bartender is such a hoot and so friendly! There's a couple of pool tables. The bathrooms are a little "shocking." I was looking for the women's restroom and when the lights automatically turned on, I saw lots of 70s models posing nude. So this is what regular bodies look like before the surgery era! The men's restroom was more classy with people smoking cigars.

"Don't worry honey, it's okay to look, and also throw money at the half-naked women! I promise you won't get in trouble!" Uh-huh. ;) Alright, I digress. Awkwardness aside, Prohibition is a really great place to enjoy a classy dinner, where the meat is served on a place AND on stage, and the cheesecake comes with the price of admission! Speaking of admission, as my wife and I were guests, being shepherded along by our friend, I cannot recall exactly what the "cover charge" was (not much, if I remember correctly...less than $20 for two?), and if reservations are *required*, I cannot say for certain, but I would say they are *recommended* at the very least, because our showtime was packed. Anyway, once paid, you are escorted through a secret bookcase door (SLC residents sure do love their speakeasies, don't they?), and into the dining hall and saloon, where you're soon to have your socks knocked off...well, someone's clothes are coming off, anyway! We were given a table that I dismissively thought was tucked away pretty far in the back and out of the way, but it ended up being one of the best seats in the house, as the table where the performers gathered, prepped, and returned to was just adjacent to us, so we were about as up close and personal as you can get, without getting yourselves arrested. Each of the dancers brought their own style, flair, and wardrobe to their performances, which were spirited and energetic, and a touch racy, without devolving into outright debauchery. It may be an (18+? 21+?) venue, but alcohol restrictions aside, I wouldn't hesitate to take older, more mature teens to a show with similar content. We ordered a smattering of smaller dishes, as we weren't particularly hungry, but the Mishima Wagyu tacos were fantastic (as you would expect), as was the Fedora Fin (Za'atar-crusted ahi tuna), and all of our cocktails. As the show is timed event with multiple performances per night, both food and bev are fired out of the kitchen/bar faster than the bullets from a Tommy Gun, but with far better accuracy. The whole operation here was honestly very impressive, from start to finish. Coming from a progressive city like Portland, it's always struck me a little odd that places that, by reputation, strike you as more conservative end up having some of the best, most wild entertainment venues, that you only wish you had back home. Prohibition is one of these places that I would rather see in my downtown, instead of the litany of seedy strip joints pushing for maximum titilation, but with only a fraction of the class and sophistication. Prohibition is good, clean fun, masquerading as something illicit, which is the heart of what makes it work so well.

The prices were very reasonable! Drafts were $7 and some cocktails were $11. The bartenders were super friendly and polite and talented! I really enjoyed watching them prepare five drinks at once without loosing a beat! The music was also great! They were rocking early 2000s jams. In full transparency it has been 2-3 years since my first and last visit to Water Witch. I noticed this in my drafts and thought I should complete my review. That said, I think I hyped this place up in my head too much before my visit because of the James Beard nod. So when it didn't quite hit the mark for me, I was disappointed. It's quite an intimate bar. By that I mean small space inside. The main bar has seating of course and there are a few seating areas directly behind the barstool area. There is a small walkway that separates the bar and the seating area. So the seating area is looking straight forward at the bartenders and the backs of people on barstools. I felt like the people behind me were staring into my soul lol, but that's a me problem ha. It's a modern design and beautifully decorated. I had two drinks. One from the menu and one that I told the bartender what I liked and disliked. He then made a drink based upon my taste. In my opinion it tasted similar to the one from the menu, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something different. There was one bartender that evening and one bar back, so even with the few people at the bar (I'd say 6-7 including me and a guest) and the 4 people seated behind us. It took some time to get his attention and order a drink. Which is part of the reason I only had two drinks. I would probably give this place another try since it's been some time since I've been there. As I always like to say. Stop in and judge for yourself.
