Caught some breakfast burritos with the Santa Maria style tri tip at around 9am. EFFIN FIRE! The breakfast burritos had eggs, fries, cheese, Santa Maria tri tip and some sauce. The flavors blended together so well! The smokiness of the tri tip was perfect! Oh so good! The gentleman running the cashier was super friendly and courteous! Had a huge smile and great energy! It's a walk up window so there isn't any place to eat inside but they had some barrels with metal bar stools laid out so ppl could eat there. They had good music playing though so that was really nice! It's right by the entrance to where people enter the sand dunes to ride ATV's and side by sides! Corn dog was the best I've ever had (would seriously come back just for this). Fries were good. Staff was nice. The not so good: the wait time was excessive for no other orders between when we ordered and getting our food (10+ minutes). I thought the prices were a bit high for what you got. The biggest let down was the chowder...great taste but 90% of it was potatoes. The onion rings are breaded (picture on menus shows battered). Seating is rustic, very rustic. No shade/covers. Sand is everywhere. All seating is bar-height stools. If you're staying nearby, I highly recommend taking it back to your lodging. Would I return? Probably just for the corn dog. read more

My friend got a corndog for 8 bucks and at first it looked like a rip off but when we got them they werent your average corn dogs. These things were pretty much a costco hotdog turned corndog. If you're looking for great clam chowder, this is the place. We are kind of chowder geeks, and I make a pretty good version myself, so we've tasted a LOT of chowder. I'm not a huge fan of the super thick, floury chowder that a lot of places serve; Slappy's version achieves a perfect balance - not too thick, but creamy enough for folks looking for a substantial soup. It was also expertly seasoned, with enough herbs and pepper and salt to make it interesting without overwhelming the clam flavor. We also tried the tri-tip, fish and shrimp tacos - all very nice, with a nice slaw and creamy, spicy sauce. The fish tacos had grilled, not fried cod, and the tri-tip was super flavorful.
