The bf and I made a day trip to Pismo for my bday, we planned to try a new place to eat. There's a lot of options by Pismo pier to choose from, but Hoagies stood out to me. He had tried it before, so this was my first time here. As I looked over the menu everything sounded good and pics of the food helped me make my final choice for lunch. The service was excellent, the cashier was friendly and patient with us ordering (since it was my first time here). We decided to sit in the patio area since it was nice day, even though there was a little bit of construction noise next door, it didn't take away from hearing the great music selection. Moments later a server brought out the food, everything smelled and looked delicious. He ordered fish N' chips w/upgraded garlic fries, (we love garlic fries!) some of the best garlic fries we've had, every bite was garlicky & dipped in ranch...mmmmm perfect combo. The fish was tender but crispy bites from the batter. I ordered the Pismo wrap (could be shared), I was not expecting it to be so packed with all the fillings. It was stuffed with sliced tri-tip, curly fries, avocado, pepper jack cheese, and bbq sauce. Every bite was so satisfying, flavorful and had a little bit of everything. Some saltiness from the fries to sweetness from the bbq sauce, well balanced (I did add some cholula sauce because I enjoy some spiciness). Definitely added as a stop when doing a day trip to Pismo. I'll be recommending friends/family to make a stop at Hoagies if they're ever in the area and they're looking for a chomp because a bite isn't enough. So after all the shopping/walking, pick up some Hoagies and head to the beach (which is walking distance), because great food deserves a great view! read more

I decided to give Hoagie's a try -- I usually go elsewhere for my cod wrap when in the area. I requested the cabbage and tomato instead of curly French fries inside the wrap -- and fries came on the side, anyway. The counterperson taking my order kept saying lettuce, and I repeated a few times, you mean cabbage, since that's what is written on the menu, and they seemed a bit confused.. But it did come with lettuce, not cabbage (?). Hmm. The fish was okay, but not fried to enough of a crisp, so it was not crunchy. It was also a relatively small amount of cod in the the burrito wrap. I say burrito wrap as the tortilla was pretty thick and barely toasted. I did see other patrons sitting at the tables with much toastier-looking wraps, and it looked like the steak wrap came in a wheat tortilla. So is there more than one kind of tortilla? The tartar sauce was middle of the road and there was not enough of it in the wrap for my tastes - I like sauce. But I could not get more for the side, as the line was out the door by the time I discovered I could use more tartar sauce! So while it was fine, and the fish seemed fresh, I was somewhat disappointed, and did not munch this wrap with the zeal that I do the one from the other locale in town where I typically buy the killer cod wrap. The curly fries were good and well salted. Lots of people sitting outside; tables could've been cleaned better. Maybe staff should come out and wipe them down periodically. read more

If you are in the area and looking for a bite to eat after visiting the beach, this is the spot to go! I ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the 805 wrap. Highly recommend these! The clam chowder was super filling and had a side of loaded fries which were garlicky - my fave! And the 805 wrap tasted just like an in n out burger. Great portions and everything tasted amazing. Plenty of items to choose from and they also have beer available. Indoor and outdoor seating so I was able to have my dog with me. read more

I had to sadly say it smelled better than tasted, but still worth the price due to the quantity. The beef/brisket was kind of bland. Bbq chicken was good but nothing special. I heard that Hoagie's is a must-try when in Pismo and I understand why. While their front counter seems placed weirdly by the door, the food definitely is something worth coming back for. Menu was extensive but husband and I opted for the Cubano (I think) and some onion rings and shrimp as sides. Shared the whole thing and glad we did! Serving was huge for a single person and everything came very flavorful and fresh. Seating seems to be limited and on a Saturday, parking is close to impossible. We were greeted right away & we were able 2 order. My sister & I split the CA Breakfast burrito, yes, it's big enough 2 split & I didn't even finish my 1/2. It came w/ a side of salsa that was delish, but no kick so I had 2 use Cholula as well. I do suggest that they have a spicy salsa 2 give out as well. The burrito was fantastic!!! Eggs, bacon, tater tots (which I really loved), avocado, cheese. I hate when I can't tell there's eggs in breakfast burrito, so thank goodness, I could not only see the egg, but could taste it as well!!! Lots 2 look @ in this small spot. There's an outdoor spot 2 eat as well, but we sat inside. I haven't been to Hoagies in forever!! When I was visiting over the weekend I made sure to stop by here to get their famous Pismo wrap like I used to back in the day. The wrap was great but I could tell right away the meat was different than how it was years ago. It was still really good just different. Downtown Pismo sandwich shop with decent variety and easy indoor/outdoor seating (dog friendly). Today we tried the Kingston Pulled Pork and The Cuban (their take on a Cubano style sandwich). Both were a little too saucy and not quite enough meat for the price, but still very tasty. The fries were made fresh and a good side portion. Overall as expected for the tourist area. Came to Pismo for the 40th Annual The Classic's Car show. Had a disappointing experience yesterday with their El Patron salad special posted in front of the restaurant. The Boss sauce was good, but beef was super hard and chewy. Worried I would crack a tooth or need a root canal I ended up only eating the salad and tossing meat. They have out door and inside seating. The register is right in front of the entrance so if it's busy then there will be a line outside. Inside it can get a little crammed. Drink station is in the food area so you can serve yourself refills. We got the Cali cheese steak, it was pretty good. We also got the fish tacos which i thought were BOMB! I did have to put a good amount of lemon and salt but I scarfed thoes tacos down. We also threw lemon juice and salt on the chips which made them taste better. In Pismo Beach, there is a shop that sells hoagies and sandwiches and if you are on this area, you have to check this establishment out. We saw this place on instagram and had to come here since we were in the area. We ordered the sandwich called "The Stanley". It has tri-tip, pastrami, mayo, mustard, red onions, jalapeño, pepper jack cheese on garlic sourdough bread. It is so good and comes with curly fries and a drink. My wife also orders a Bloody Mary that was really good. The sandwich was so good, that on our way home we stopped specifically here to get 2 more. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I saw the great reviews on yelp and it came heavily recommended, so when I stopped in I asked for the most popular thing on the menu, The Pismo. The Pismo is a tri-tip bbq wrap, with curly fries, avocado, and cheese. It sounded odd but I went with it. First bite reminded me of a California burrito with a twist. I swapped half of the wrap for half of my buddy's hot pastrami sandwich. I was left trying to figure out which I liked better as both were delicious but with way different flavors. The mustard and pickles on the hot pastrami gave it the zing it needed but I removed the Peperoncinos which still left a little mild heat behind so I'm not mad they were on there. Overall nothing disappointed and I don't have a single complaint about the place. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating. read more

Hoagies in Pismo Beach was a great quick stop for a really good meal. We ordered the Pismo wrap and the hot pastrami sandwich and both were excellent. The bloody Mary presentation was nice. The shrimp was good the bacon not so much but the bloody Mary itself was disgusting. I took a sip and all you can taste was the pure alcohol in it. I stirred it a little bit, and I even added the lime and tasted it again and it was disgusting so the second picture here is the way we left it. I told the lady on the way out that I left a drink right there because it was disgusting and all she can say was have a good day not even a sorry or anything didn't want the money back but an apology would've been nice. read more

Hoagies is a Pismo Beach staple located a couple blocks from the beach. They offer a variety of sandwiches and wraps, perfect for taking to go and eating on the beach or pier. While their staple is the Pismo wrap, we opted for the Nicco which features tri-tip, avocado, cilantro, cheese, sour cream and curly fries. It also comes with a side of curly fries. The wrap was super flavorful! The tri tip was tender and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. We will definitely back on our next trip! *In search of the best Chowder in SLO, Hoagies, 6th out of 6 restaurants sampled, sigh* **Note: chowder and only clam chowder only ordered at Hoagies since we got more chowders to be sampled that day** Right after we had our fun in the sand and beach, we walked along downtown Pismo Beach and had to try out Hoagies' chowder. Aside form their great looking wraps in the menu, lots of reviews online have their clam chowder at one of the best in Pismo. So we just had to try it out. We had it to go, but our soup came quickly and just sat in their outdoor seating. The chowder was pretty runny without a hint of creamy thickness. It lacked that briny, savory taste of clams, and the potatoes were cut to thick for my liking. At best, it could be any a chowder you can order and any diner. I was just trying to finish the soup but my eyes are fixated to another seafood restaurant across the street: 'maybe theirs is better...' After paddling all morning, we were seriously craving Hoogies. Visually, it looked super cool from the outside--definitely had that beachside vibe. We always make it a habit to eat only seafood by the ocean, so I went with the ahi tuna sandwich. It was delicious! The wasabi was heavy, but that's exactly how I like it. The fries were also amazing--crispy and perfectly seasoned. My husband went with his usual: a Philly cheesesteak. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Came here around 7pm on a Friday and loved the chill ambience in here! It's right by the beach so it was super refreshing to eat here after spending a few hours in the sun. Got a blood orange cali squeeze beer and it was so good! As someone who likes sour beer because I don't drink too much bitter beer it was perfect for me. The clam chowder bowl was so fresh and loved!!! I thought the onions added a nice touch of veggies to balance out the creamy chowder flavor. Visit Hoagies on a weekend day and it was quite busy! They have an extensive outdoor patio and smaller indoor seating area located near the main downtown Pismo area and the Pismo pier. I ordered the Southwest Wrap and it was nothing to rave home about; there was hardly any meat and it was all lettuce and tomato. My husband ordered the special, The Stanley, which he really enjoyed! I have visited the other Hoagie locations, and I'd say this location is probably my least favorite. When it was returned, the fries were hard and the buns were burnt. Wanted something to pick up for brunch and eat on our hotel balcony. Was not disappointed. The staff was helpful making sure I got what I needed to be able to enjoy my to go (sauces, utensils, etc). Had i stayed, it has a very relaxed feel, one of where you can chill with you friends. My wife ordered the works chowder- came with garlic fries, bacon, cheese, and fried clam. It old have legit enough for both of us. I loved that they packed the bread bowl separate, so it silent have the chowder soak threw and get everywhere. My breakfast burrito was all that I wanted in a BB. Chorizo, cheese, good hot sauce, yum-o. They are now on our return list for Pismo. read more
