Finally got to try this famous bagel--and gosh, it was THAT good! We had the Royal Palm, and it was absolutely delicious. The portion was huge, and the cream cheese was thick, generous, and perfectly paired with the everything bagel. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Definitely worth the hype and a spot I'd happily come back to!

While the sandwich itself created a beautiful cheese pull and was really pretty to look at, parts of the bagel tasted burnt (although they didn't appear burnt) I'm not sure if it was the seasonings or edges but something left a burnt taste in my mouth. The bacon was not crispy and was a little bit soggy on the sandwich (I think because too many fillings?). Overall this sandwich just has too much going on. The one positive is that the sandwich was piping hot when I got it even though I did pick up order which sometimes I get concerned about if it's sitting there and gets cold, but this one definitely retained it's heat. The service was very friendly when I walked in and the order was made very promptly, but this isn't my first choice bagel spot in the area.

Call Your Mother Bagel Shop is a really cute and inviting spot. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great place to stop in for a quick bite. My bagel was very good; fresh, flavorful, and served quickly, which I really appreciated. The service was efficient and friendly. There was not too many seats but it seems they are under construction expanding the dining area. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back again.

I stopped into Call your Mother Deli to pick up a bagel. I did a custom bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese and a few other add ons. The bagel was pretty tasty. I had also ordered a drink but it didn't make it in my bag when I picked up my order. I was able to call the store back and they gave me a credit for the drink. The store was pretty busy. Don't expect to get in and out if you are in a rush unless you pre order online.

This was my first time coming to Call Your Mother and I am so glad I did! Love the décor and atmosphere of the establishment and best of all their music! I am jamming while waiting for my order! I am greeted by a friendly smile and a warm welcome...that is always appreciated! Since it was my first time coming here, I asked which items they would recommend...Sun City & Royal Palm were the top recommendations and so I decided to order the Royal Palm and loved it so much I came back the next week and ordered it again! I wanted to order online but noticed that there was no option to add more salmon to the Royal Palm sandwich. When I asked in the store, they mentioned that the volume of orders they receive, they cannot accommodate additional orders online, but they can in the store. It was $6 charge for extra salmon. I am now always craving their Royal Palm...it is hard not to always get it! They are fast with the orders, so the waiting time is very short. This is located on the corner of South Payne Street & King Street. They have only meter parking all around the establishment and the meters are free on Sundays & Holidays. Def recommended them!

I am a huge bagel fan, and this place does not let down. The bagels tasted fresh and the fillings were substantial enough to be a meal by itself. The day before I tried the plane bagel with pumpkin cream cheese which was also delicious! This is a popular place so be prepared for a bit of a wait in the mornings. There's lots of seating and it looked like it would be great for kids as it was on the louder side. However, the noise level and lack of wall outlets would not be conducive for those looking to sit and study.

Needed a good bagel and lox and this place hit the spot. Line was long, but went by fast, cute places to sit down, friendly staff. All around great. I got royal palm ( lox) and loved it.

Stopped at Call Your Mother in Alexandria visiting a friend and loved it! The Thunderbird bagel was so good, and I'm still thinking about the combo with the two cheeses. It's definitely more of a quick grab type of spot, but everything moved fast and easy. We went around 8am on a Friday and it wasn't packed at all.

I have been to the Vienna and McLean locations. The Old Town location is a lot larger with a variety of seating options, even a few tables outside. The shop was very crowded but the orders come out relatively quick for a popular place. The Sun City is with pastrami is by far my favorite brunch sandwich in NOVA.

Have been wanting to try this place out & glad we finally did! The iced coffee was good but a little strong & could've used a little more flavor! The bagel was great loved the bagel itself, the eggs were cooked to perfection & the bacon ration was good! Loved how cheesy it was. My only complaint was not enough hot honey, when I got a bite with the hot honey I was in love but I found myself taking bites that were missing the hot honey & when you pay $18 for a coffee and a bagel you want there to be flavor in every bite overall it was good & we will be back!

Bright and vibrant location nestled in Old Town, it was very busy and loud on a Sunday morning but added to the ambiance of a local bagel spot. Service was handled well considering just about all the seats in the shop were taken and there was a long line to the front door. It took almost an hour for my order to be made. The staff managed the busy chaos that day properly. Now the food, creativity was top notch as their creations will definitely have you coming back to try all of them. I got a sweet sandwich (summit) and savory sandwich (royal palm) just to compare for all palettes they accommodate. Their options for spread seem limited and the price point is high for the sandwiches but I believe they have seasonal options from talking to people in line. Coffee was great, no issues there.

Very good! I'm not a huge bagel person, but this place might make me into one. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Ingredients taste fresh. As a first timer, I felt the staff was very helpful, cheery, and patient. There are options available if you're avoiding meat. Seating can be tight just because they are busy, so dining area was quite crowded. Found seats with a window view, which was really nice. Will be back!

I was in the area Sunday morning and decided to pop into the Call Your Mother Deli's location in Old Town Alexandria. Opened in early 2024, the Old Town location of the popular local chain specializing in bagels and coffee is certainly larger and more welcoming than their DC outposts, which are mainly focused on Takeout orders. The tropical pink, teal, and yellow color scheme is prominent, with floral decorations throughout the interior. Plentiful seating, high ceilings, and exposed ductwork complete the modern design aesthetic. I greatly appreciate the ample seating, since it's always best to immediately enjoy a bagel when it's freshly toasted. I understand that it was a busy Sunday morning, but it took over 10 minutes for my order of two toasted bagels with cream cheese, to come out of the kitchen. This is not to imply, however, that the Old Town CYMD also does not do a brisk takeout and food delivery business. The pick-up area for orders placed in-person and online, was BUZZZING with people as well as Uber Eats and Door Dash drivers picking up bags of bagels and cups of coffee. TBH, this area can get a bit crowded and chaotic as everyone intently listens for their orders to be yelled out. While I'm generally underwhelmed by the bagels at CYMD, I will admit, that I appreciate the more unique non-traditional flavors, such as the toasted Za'atar topped bagel with cream cheese I ordered. This Middle Eastern spice traditionally is a blend composed thyme, oregano, marjoram or a combination of the three, and can also include other spices including sesame, sumac, cumin or coriander. The bagel was properly toasted, and had a healthy shmear of cream cheese; note to other bagel shops which skimp on their spreads. The spice mixture adhered nicely to bagel and I also appreciated that their was some notes of salt. It was also great to sit at one of the tables outside to dine al fresco, while enjoying the cool early summer morning. However - Insert snarky New Yorker's comment about the quality of DMV area bagels in 5...4...3...2... Honestly, I've never been super impressed with the CYMD bagels. I think the bagels are too chewy and somewhat underbaked after the boiling process. I mean, are the bagels here equivalent with what I find back in Brooklyn? IMHO, no they are not. The prices to me, are also, a tad on the high side. Two bagels with cream cheese and 20% tip, totalled a shade over $12. If I had added some plain drip coffees, the bill would've easily tallied close to $20. I dunno; seems a bit excessive to me. To be fair, prices are on par with what I find back home in NYC. But in the DC area, eating bagels from CYMD is seemingly the bougie thing to do; almost like drinking coffee, while flashing a Starbucks cup circa early 2000's. I guess if you get a bag of dozen bagels for $24...that's not a bad deal since it comes out to $2/each. For me, stopping into the Old Town CYMD will be an one-off occasion, and not a regular occurence.

Second best sandwiches I have ever had, but best on the East coast…read more I'm in Arlington on business from the West Coast and was looking for a quick lunch spot when I stumbled into this little hidden gem. I've eaten at plenty of delis over the years, but Eddie's Little Shop completely surprised me with flavors I've genuinely never tasted before. The sandwiches here are incredibly unique, creative combinations that just explode with flavor in ways I wasn't expecting. What really stood out were the huge, fresh chunks of real mozzarella, paired with their homemade-style dressings, sauces, and condiments. It's easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The portions are generous, the bread is spot-on. I'll definitely be back before my trip ends. If you're in Arlington, do not miss Eddie's Little Shop Deli. Highly, highly recommended!

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Hello, 911? I'd like to report an attempted murder…read more Eddie's tried to kill me with a monstrous sandwich. Saturday, midafternoon, I stop by for an Eddie Mootz ($17) (salami, ham, sopressata, mozzarella, on seeded italian). I'm handed this brown paper bag that weighs, I dunno, 3 lbs? I have to carry this back with me to the Metro. Twice along the way, I have to stop and catch my breath. I get home, my kitchen counter sags a bit where I put the bag down. Cripes, Eddie's. And the sandwich itself? 2 meals, easily. Thick thick piles of meat and a shovel-full of mozzarella. Very chewy bread. I work up a sweat just eating this, there's so much labor involved. I ordered online from the Metro, around the DCA stop, and got a notification it was ready before I got to the King Street stop. Fast turnaround. Eddie's is now on my list of places to make a point of going to for sandwiches in the DMV. Really good sandwich, and a lot of it.

Capo Italian Deli - Old Town Alexandria…read more I reviewed our new Old Town neighbor - Capo Italian Deli - early in 2026. Time for an update. The deli is outstanding. Taking up a tiny footprint on the N. Washington Avenue thoroughfare, a few seconds from King Street, the deli delivers both hot and cold deli entrees, soft drinks, and salads. There's maybe half a dozen tables inside and a couple of tables outside, but from what I have seen thus far, most of the trade is with carry-out service, drawing from the excellent reputation Capo brought with it as it arrived in Old Town (the restaurant has siblings in Shaw NW, and Western Market in the District, Tyson's Corner in Vienna, VA, Annapolis and Potomac, MD). Fresh Philly rolls for those seeking a traditional hero sandwich, with go-to seasonings and all of the essential protein groups. My favorite is a large half roast beef half turkey with lettuce, tomato, and mayo (I skip the Italian dressing, which is part of the default, and I skip the cheese). I can and have made this $18 sandwich last three meals (so I ask them to cut the sandwich into three pieces), and the ingredients stay fresh for the next 24 hours. The last time I did this the sandwich fed me from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., as I served as an election officer at one of Alexandria's polling places. Neat, trim, and completely satisfying. Just a point of concern: given its location, the opportunity to double-park while picking up an order seems to be just too tempting. This location, however, cannot over the long term sustain double-parkers. The deli is about 100 feet from the intersection of King Street and N. Washington Street. There is a dedicated lane for cars seeking to park adjacent to the deli. And then there are two northbound lanes on N. Washington Street. That's it - just two lanes serving one of the busiest intersections in Old Town. If a delivery-service car pulls up alongside one of the parked cars, all hell will break loose by drivers who suddenly find a delivery vehicle double-parking in front of Capo, leaving but one northbound lane open for however long it takes for the delivery agent to gather the order and beat it out of there. This happens with remarkable frequency, starting at about 11 a.m. and running throughout the day. That's not going to make good neighbors of Capo's nearby shops. Alexandria Parking has its work cut out for it, but here the rule prohibiting double-parking has to be enforced - it's both a safety issue and an issue of common courtesy. Doesn't matter if you think you'll just be in and out of the deli in seconds. We know it doesn't work that way, not always, and here - not even often. More often than not the double-parker will be creating a traffic hazard just by parking alongside a parked car in front of the deli. Please, don't do this.

This review is based solely on the customer service I received over the phone…read more I had placed a $62 order through DoorDash and chose Capo even though there are plenty of other deli spots nearby, because they normally make really good sandwiches. Unfortunately, the customer service this time was extremely disappointing. I called with a simple question about the bread since I have braces and needed something soft. The person who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, acting as if my call was an inconvenience. When I asked which bread was the softest, he cut me off to say they were "super busy" and could only change the bread on one sandwich, not both. I asked again for clarification, and he continued sounding irritated and uninterested in helping. He repeated that they had a line of people and needed to know which one sandwich I wanted to change. For the amount I paid, the lack of basic courtesy and willingness to answer a straightforward question was unacceptable. This will be my last time ordering from Capo in Alexandria, VA.
