This was a last-minute booking, and the owners were so gracious to fit us into a group later that morning, which we truly appreciated. They provide all the gear -- helmets, boots, gloves, and everything needed -- which made the experience easy and stress-free, especially with kids. We rented two snowmobiles so my husband and I could each ride with one of our children, including our very excited six-year-old. What I expected to be a slow ride turned into a fun, scenic, and exciting adventure up Indian Head Mountain. The views were beautiful, and once at the top, we were able to safely enjoy some speed and really experience the thrill of snowmobiling. What a great time!!! We booked this for our Statecation and I'm so glad we did!! We've drunken through the Notch in Jeep, but this is the first time in the snow on a snowmobile!!! My friends and I went snowmobiling today for the first time and had so much fun! Our tour guide Keagan was cool, took us to a few spots where we could stop and take pics and told us a little about the mountains and areas we were in. It was really cool just riding through the woods and seeing the views. Would definitely recommend to try it if you're in the area trying to make the most out of your weekend!! The snowmobiles we used definitely my expectations. Very fast, and a huge volume of trails for us to use while on the snowmobiles. I wish we had a little bit more advice on how to use the in- snowmobile GPS, as that would've saved us a little bit of confusion using the paper map. TL;DR - Wonderful, IF you have little to no experience or desire for any "thrill" during it. To open, all of the employees (both office staff and guides) we dealt with were amicable, the helmets and clothing were in great condition, and the snowmobiles were in solid shape and were relatively new. We came with a group of 4 people, all of whom had some experience with snowmobiles and were drawn in by the third line of the SledVentures site, "We offer guided snowmobile tours, suited for every ability - from the beginner to the expert.". We found this to be, unfortunately, not true. At both sign-up and orientation, we informed them of our group's experience and figured this would play into the decision of the three guides on how to go out with our group of 13 riders. From here we had two issues that turned the day into a major letdown, the pace of the group and the pace of individuals within the group. At no point did the guides try to split the group up by ability or even attempt to organize us in some form of order that would allow the more experienced riders a better experience. For the first half of the ride, we were stuck behind a woman who got scared at every uphill/corner and would come off the throttle and chug along around 10-12mph. Not only was this infuriating, but also dangerous as she would slam on the brakes while on open trail. The guide was right behind us and could see all of this, as well as read our body language of frustration. Later on, we were stuck behind a sled with two riders and their sled was having trouble keeping up pace. I understand that these trails have speed limits but I would say our average speed for the trip was 15-18mph and our top speed maxed out around 25mph. We are not that experienced, and we certainly aren't speed demons, but we were downright BORED. At no point did we feel fulfilled or challenged by the ride. The sleds also have some form of restrictors on them and, even after "turning them up", were extremely sluggish and not responsive. I get it, they don't want people to hurt themselves, but they advertised tours for every ability, and someone with experience will easily be underwhelmed at the power the sleds put out. Honestly, if this was advertised as a "Sightseeing" tour on snowmobiles and was $75, then I would have nothing to complain about. Seeing as it cost close to $175 and advertised for all abilities, it ended up just being a major bummer and felt like a waste of money. read more

My wife and we're visiting the White Mountains and decided to book a 2 hour Snow Mobile tour with Sled ventures. Neither of us had ever been on a snow mobile ever. We had an absolutely wonderful time both thought it was a blast. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. We will defiantly visit Sled Ventures again on our next winter visit!! read more

Everyone here was SOOOO nice and really cared to make the tour personal and exciting. I had such a blast I can't even describe....you'll just have to go! They give you all the supplies you need like boots and snow pants & jackets. The grips on the sleds are heated so that was nice but I still think I benefited from bringing toe warmers with me. The two guys that guided us were SUPER personable and friendly and made sure to help us get great photos and make sure we were comfortable with our sleds. A+++++ Thank you!! read more

Lots of fun and a perfect way to learn to ride if you've never been on a snowmobile! Everyone was friendly and helpful. The office was warm and offered a big selection of all the gear you'll need...they supplied coats, helmets, gloves, boots and snow pants (an employee was cleaning and disinfecting the helmets as we came in). Our guide was a great instructor and led our group on a trail through the woods. We stopped to take photos before heading back. I would highly recommend SledVentures for anyone new to snowmobiling. Now we're looking forward to renting again and going out on our own! read more

Had a Groupon for a two hour snowmobiling tour. Not only was the tour great but everyone on the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. They were all really nice and didn't make me feel like a dummy for not knowing anything about snowmobiling. My daughter and I took the 2.5 hour guided tour. The guides, Kevin and Kyle, were great. We tooled along between 20-25 mph. The scenery was awesome. If you don't have any gear to wear they have boots, jackets, and helmets. Safety is definitely their main concern. I highly recommend them. read more

I think how much you will enjoy this could depend on your level of thrill seeking. I think my rating of 3 stars is probably more related to a guided snowmobile tour in general because the things I would've preferred may not be offered due to liability. My wife and I had never been snowmobiling before, and we received two Groupons as gifts. It was nice that they had all of the necessary gear for keeping warm. We brought our own winter clothes but decided to just wear what they offered since there was plenty for everyone. Our Groupon was for Franconia Notch or the bog pond but we all went to Franconia Notch. We would've preferred trying the bog pond since we've been through Franconia Notch before but we weren't given an option. However, for some reason a friend of mine went later that day and he was able to go to the bog pond. The guides went over the necessary info about the snowmobiles, which were all in great shape, and then we were off. The trails we went on had a max speed of 20-25mph. It took some time to get used to driving the snowmobile but after that I wouldn't have minded going some place where we could've gone faster. However, even if we had gone to an open area, we wouldn't have been able to go faster because there was throttle control on our snowmobiles (I couldn't keep up with the instructor going uphill). I understand why they do this but this the part where how much thrill you're looking for will affect how you feel about the trip. In the end, I did enjoy driving around on a snowmobile and the people and equipment/machines were nice, but personally, I would've preferred going somewhere where we could go faster. I don't think I'll go on a guided tour again but I would be interested in riding a snowmobile again. read more

Went on a guided tour when it was almost 5° out and even though the place had all the gear and heated grips on the sleds to keep you nice and warm, the sleds were governed at 25mph. Would recommend it for a true beginner or my 7 year old niece but not a thrill seeker like me. If you like to go fast and actually ride this is not the place for you. Really nice people but if your into speed and want to actually ride and play this is not the place for you. Kinda disappointed myself. If you're looking to have some fun on a snowmobile, this isn't exactly the best place to do it. To start the trip off our guide scolded one of the women who asked a question about one of the buttons. We took the Franconia notch trail which was essentially a trip through the woods. Not much for sight seeing until the end. Even if you wanted to enjoy your surroundings you're kind of held back by the fact that you are on a guided tour of about 10+ other people. So you have to stay with the group which is traveling at an average of 15mph. We stopped a couple of times, one of which had a good view but was at a place you could just drive to. The other two times I wanted to stop we didn't. There was only about one time on the two hour tour I really got to open the thing up and go fast but that lasted a few seconds. It was nice that they had any gear I could need but I'm sure you'll find that at any rental place. Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that we used a Groupon I would have been livid. The prices are pretty outrageous without it. For the same amount with Groupon you can go 30 minutes north and rent snowmobiles on a self guided tour which would have been a much funner experience. Also a warning: If you do any damage to the snowmobile, and I'm sure this goes for anywhere you would rent them, you will have to pay for it. My snowmobile jerked forward after I came to a complete stop and I bumped the guy in front of me. It broke a cheap piece of plastic which I had to replace for 80 bucks. Kind of a bummer. Essentially if you are doing this as a family and are nervous to explore on your own this is probably a decent route to go. Otherwise this may not be for you. read more

Was not greeted when my family of 5 walked in the place, even after several minutes, one girl sweeping, the other sitting on a bench talking with each other, I had to interrupt them and advise we were checking in, was not helped out with the warm clothing; was told we needed to hurry up to get with the other group that was already to go and outside. We were there at least 15 min or more prior to our confirmation time, seemed like they did not know we had an appt; boys were disappointed that snowmobiles capped at 25mi per hr. Group was very very large about 15 people, not personable at all. I did enjoy the trails through the woods, but will not go back to this place. For the money expected more fun. read more

The guide was great and we had a blast doing the Over the top tour even in 5° weather. Their clothing, boots, gloves and helmet kept us toasty along with heated handlebars. Sleds are well-maintained and easy for beginners to handle. Also their office staff worked with us to reschedule a couple times due to the lack of snow last season. They won't take you out if the conditions aren't good. Give them a try! read more

Our guide was great and had everyone at ease with their machines in just a few minutes. Had Jon for a tour guide and he was personable and great to talk to about snowmobiling. He also kept it safe but also brought it up to speed whenever the trail allowed. Would recommend this place to anyone looking to get out and enjoy the winter scenery of New Hampshire. I had an amazing time at SledVenture for our guided snowmobile tour. Me and my boyfriend traveled to New Hampshire during the unfortunate negative degree weather. And even in the negative degree weather I had a blast, and that's truly saying something. I wore many of my own layers and put their equipment on top and I was very comfortable. I had never been snowmobiling previously and I felt as though this was the perfect introduction. After reading reviews I was worried the tour might be slow and lack exhilaration, but thankfully that was not the case. You would be surprised how fat 25 mph can feel. My boyfriend and I did this the other weekend on our way back from Maine. I was reallyyyyy nervous but our guide was great! He showed us all the fine tunings of the sleds and after a couple minutes of riding I was completely comfortable. All and all It was a great experience! The only reason why I'm docking them one star is, we were first signed up for a Saturday afternoon ride. There had been a storm forecasted for that evening but that morning they predicted it would start earlier. Living in Boston (a good 2-2.5 hour away), we got more and more nervous about making the trip. We knew we'd be fine to get there but owrried about getting back. We called to see if we could reschedule and they informed us that they had a strict 72 hour reschedule/cancellation policy. Fine I totally get that but when it comes to winter weather and safety and there is talks of a travel ban for the entire state of Massachusetts, I think they should be a little more lenient. After 30 minutes of back-and-forth, my boyfriend finally got them to accept to reschedule but it would have to be a weekday rather than a weekend which we had already pre-purchased. Luckily, we had this trip to Maine planned and would be driving down through New Hampshire on a Monday so it worked out. But had we not had that planned, we wouldn't have been able to reschedule or be refunded. Seems a little ridiculous given the circumstances. But all and all it worked out and we had a great time. And even better (or maybe worse..) my boyfriend has his eye on a new toy ;-) read more
