Slee Off-Road - ARB Brushless Twin on board air - Auto Parts & Supplies Near Me - Golden, Colorado

This is supposed to be THE place for off-roaders. I went in to look at and buy a set of ARB lockable drawers for my Land Cruiser 100 series. Watched their videos, went in talked to their sales guy for 20+ minutes about the drawers. I spent $3000 and 8 hours installing 2x RDRF1045 roller-top drawers + side kit, only to find out that the roller-top on the drawers mean that locking them is useless. You can lock them, but you just lightly pull on the top and the entire roof opens. So if you store anything in the locked portion, anyone can get to it by an easy tug on the drawer. There's no point in having lockable drawers in the back of your truck if someone can just open the roof and get into them anyway. That's not Slee's fault - they don't manufacture them. However, _this_ is Slee's fault - I called Slee and asked them what I could do and they said "yes, we have heard about this repeatedly that is true, they don't lock so they aren't really that useful." I asked if I could return them since they knew these were completely useless as locking drawers and the sales guy never told me this while I spent 20 minutes talking to him. They said I could not but encouraged me to put them up for sale on Ih8mud or other forums and then come back to them and spend more money and buy the RD1045 which does not have the roller top from them. They're absurd. No one should sell $3000 worth of products that you know are not going to serve the purpose of most people buying them without saying anything to the person, then refuse to take them back, and then offer a fix that involves spending more money. Side note - I also called ARB's USA office (their HQ is in AUS) and a VERY lethargic and uncaring customer support guy agreed that they are useless as locking drawers. read more

I cannot believe that I'm the first to review Slee. Woohoo! If you have a Toyota Landcruiser and want to take it to the next level, Slee's is the place. They worked on Mr. Bubbles ('98 LandCruiser) a few years back regarding some vibration issues after I had an OME lift installed (In California). They spent the time and effort to run-down the problem. The price was fair and I left happy. Cristo Slee is a fantastic contributor to the off-roading community. They do excellent work. Useless. Called with question concerning the FJ-80 I recently bought. I explained shocks were busted on purchase and I was adding a custom rear bumper and possibly a winch bumper, but didn't really need a lift. Customer service just told me that if I was happy with stock, to just buy those shocks since they were $30-$40 each. I explained I didn't even know what stock was since they were leaking, and that even then I was adding weight. No comment; no advice; couldn't be troubled. Very disappointing. read more

I have been a Slee customer for years. They have always gone out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with the product I bought and had installed. One thing I know is they pride themselves to make sure the customer is educated enough about the products they are purchasing, unlike the other off-road shops in town that will sale you anything and everything. Slee has worked on a couple of my vehicles and they are mixed bag. If you have a Land Cruiser, bring it to Slee - they are the people for it. When it comes to Tacomas, 4Runners, or FJ Cruisers, they've worked on plenty of them and charge a fair price but don't seem to be as passionate or knowledgeable on the models. They are also a little too quick to down-talk aftermarket parts they don't sell even if they don't know anything about the product or sell an alternative solution. Overall good guys, but they've let their ego get the best of them and it's annoying. If there was a good alternative Toyota offroad shop close by, I'd consider trying someone else out. read more

I was floored by every aspect of my experience with Slee offroad. I originally had an Old Man Emu full lift with Dakar Leaf springs installed on my 09' Tacoma 2.7L 4 banger, at another offroad outfit out of Golden, they screwed it up worse than I could have imagined. I went to Slee and they were able to diagnose all of my problems, and fix everything. I went from driving a truck that felt like it had basketballs instead of wheels, to a vehicle that drives smoothly with no turbulence. Before going to slee to fix it I had to fight the wheel everywhere I went, afterwards I can literally drive with one hand and not stress out about my ride bouncing all over the place. They fixed my front suspension by adding an adjustable upper control arm so that I could actually get the vehicle aligned properly and proceeded to align it, put on the correct coils/springs, so that I actually had downtravel in my shocks, installed new tires, and front brakes, and I had her back the same day. Emory was a pleasure to work with in the customer service department, he is very knowledgeable and kept me updated throughout the whole process, saving me money along the way. I would highly recommend going to Slee vs. some of the other outfits in and around Denver such as 5R Custom Trucks or High Country Off Road. Great Work Guys, I'm extremely satisfied with the results. These people couldn't provide a quality service experience if their children's lives depended upon it. If you do business with Slee, you WILL be disappointed. They installed an ARB Bull Bar bumper and lights on my FJ. The work was good but it took more than a day to accomplish and the bill was 25% higher than they quoted. Next, I went in for brakes and instead of telling me that the couldn't provide me the equipment I had ordered, they "completed" the job and delivered my vehicle with only new discs on the front ... leaving the original discs on the rear. Obviously this was unacceptable and I had to wait another 2 hours while they returned my original brake condition - day wasted. Being a glutton for punishment, I went back for a front bumper winch. 4 hours into the job, "Super Shop Mechanic" told me it would take another 4 hours to complete. I was quoted 2-3 hours for the job originally. I complained bitterly and they were able to finish the job in another hour. Still willing to give them more of my money, I scheduled a body mount modification. Two weeks after scheduling the appointment, the office manager called me to cancel stating that "the owner isn't comfortable with working on [my] vehicle. The shop mechanic was upset after [my] last visit." If you decide to go here anyway, heed this advice: Don't piss off their temperamental mechanic. If you do, you'll be asked to leave and never come back again. My advice to you, go to High Country 4x4 in Englewood, CO. They have more experience, a much larger selection and they don't employ temperamental idiot installers! read more

I had seen and heard a ton of great stuff about Slee but when I went in to get the suspension done on my truck not only was the staff very laid back and a little unfriendly they told me that the eccentric bolts on my lower control arms were seized and that it would be about 600-800 dollars to repair. I didn't have the money and the guy was very pushy about getting me to pay them to fix it after i had repeatedly said no, but the whole thing sounded fishy to me. I went to another shop and asked them and they said they were totally fine and I ended up doing my suspension there and alignment for about 300 dollars less than Slee. The bolts were totally fine and Slee lied about it and tried to charge me an insane amount to repair it (it would be cheaper to just replace the lower control arms with new bushings and bolts). The bottom line is make sure you double check with another shop before getting work done here, I will never be going back again after that. read more
