Stayed here for two nights. The room was spotless. Sheets, pillows, and bedding were fresh without that bleach or cleaner scent. Bed was very comfortable. All amenities worked perfectly. AC was ice cold. Breakfast was plentiful. Many choices. The lady who kept it stocked took great pride in keeping it fresh and clean. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. The Vending machines are well stocked and very affordable and they actually work. The outdoor pool is beautiful. Great location - close to restaurants, fuel, shopping, state park. Highly recommended. As a last minute booking, this Sleep Inn honestly exceeded my expectations. I was comparing several hotels in the Pelham Oak Mountain area and many in the same price range had pretty rough reviews. This one seemed consistently decent, so I took the chance and I am glad I did. I paid about $60 per night which is a great value for what you get. Location is a big plus. The hotel sits in a populated area with easy access to gas stations, supermarkets, and a variety of restaurants. You could drive or even walk to several nearby spots without any issue. There is also plenty of parking. I was also able to check in a little early around 11:45am with no extra charge, which was a huge win. The front desk receptionist, Aish, was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. First impressions matter and she absolutely set the tone for a good stay. Breakfast is included and runs from 6am to 9am, so just make sure you are up early enough to catch it. When I walked into the room, it was very clean. There is a proper desk for working and charging ports conveniently placed on the walls and desk areas. The 32 inch TV had over 100 channels, the wifi connected easily, and there was even a refrigerator and microwave, which many hotels no longer offer at this price point. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and well stocked with toiletries. It also has safety handles around the toilet and shower, which is a thoughtful touch for anyone who may need extra support. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to book here again. The only minor downside was that the cleaning solution smell was pretty strong at first, but it faded after a few hours. My only real suggestion for the hotel would be brighter lighting in the bathroom, as it does feel a bit dim. For the price, location, cleanliness, and service, this Sleep Inn delivers and then some. This place use to be such a great experience! They had two staff an AfroAmerican manger and Front Desk clerk that were so kind and professional a year ago. Rooms now seem run down and not updated. Staff act like it's a pleasure to make your stay a bad experience. They put you in the worst rooms close to the elevator and laundry room. Rooms smell like mold. Dining area smells like eggs. Toilet has low pressure. Sinks clogged in every room i have stayed in recently. Staff stare you up and down. They should be making your stay a great experience. Clean room and good temperature. Comfortable and firm bed with plenty of pillows. The lady at the front desk wasn't very friendly and was more interested in her phone than speaking with guests when we first got here in the afternoon, but everyone else has been very courteous and helpful. Good ice in the machines (I'm an ice eater). Very good breakfast in the lobby area and the ladies cleaning the rooms were extra helpful when I wanted more towels to go to the pool. This Pelham Oak Mountain Sleep Inn in Alabama needs to update their website to a Continental breakfast! There's NO hot breakfast available! No eggs, no meat, no potatoes. If you need to eat some protein, there's NONE! THEY BLAME COVID, that's an excuse to not spend the money on the food their guests deserve! Be sure to call before you stay here to ask if they finally have a true full hot breakfast. The other thing, the room we stayed in, 111 on first floor, smells very musty. Check in process was a breeze the front desk staff was really nice. Checked in about 10:45pm and they were welcoming. The room was on the second floor I didn't notice the elevator so I took these stairs that I didn't expect to still be in an hotel. The room was clean or so I thought and the bed and sheets were really soft. There was more than enough pillows on the king bed. The carpet being a dark color kinda looked grimy to me. The bathroom was clean and stocked with towels. Went to shower and a wad of someone's hair was in the damn towel. First glance u don't know if it's a spider or what. I suffer from arachnophobia so it freaked me the hell out. Then to see I was hair was just as bad bcus that just gross. There was also long straight hairs on the shower wall as well. This in turn made me feel like hair was on the floor and I couldn't see it. The room came with a mini fridge and a microwave which was a nice addition since we had food to put up. I'd stay here again if I had to but I think the cleaning staff needs to be more attentive 9.23.19 Stayed here again had a great experience again. The only downfall of this place is every single cleaning staff I addressed spoke no English whatsoever. And me speaking no Spanish at all was very hard to ask for anything. So we made plans to go away for the new year. I made reservations, a month in advance, at the Sleep Inn Pelham by Choice Hotels I called the day before we left to modify my reservation and shorten by a day and to also ensure that the room I reserved, accessible room with a ROLL-IN Shower, was indeed the room I was getting. Reni was very helpful with making the changes to my reservation as well as also trying to contact the hotel to check on my room reservation. When she could not reach them she made sure to note on my reservation that due to having a wheelchair I needed the roll-in shower room. While we were on our way to the hotel they call to inform us that they no longer had the room I reserved and that I would be switched to another accessible room. I asked if it had a roll-in shower and she said no but it did have a king size bed and the room I reserved had a queen. Try as my husband and I might we just could not get this person to understand that it's not about the bed it is about the shower and getting the room I reserved. I can understand to a point that the hotel reserves the right to give folks rooms when they check in BUT when notes are made and you expect to get the room you searched high and low for and then to be told "Oh by the way we gave your room away but here is one with a bigger bed" it does me absolutely no good. We informed them that we have no choice but to cancel the reservation and I also informed them that I better not be charged a penny for the room due to their negligence to read a reservation and all included notes. The person we spoke with said she made notes for the manager and offered a half hearted apology. Since we were already on the road we decided to see if there was another hotel in the area that had a roll-in shower room. We happen to come across a Red Roof PLUS+ in Bessemer AL that had a room that suited our needs. I called to double check that they indeed had the room and the front desk folks assured me that if it was on their site it was available. So I quickly reserved it, for about the same as the first hotel, and went on to enjoy the new years! Since this is not the first time Choice Hotels has done this to us we have decided to no longer let them have our business. read more

I've stayed here several times, and must say it is a comfortable stay. The house keeping staff have always been so friendly and caring. The rooms have always been clean and welcoming. The free breakfast is delicious and fresh every morning. I noticed a new owner owns the place, but the old owner and his wife were always so hospitable and attentive. I was soaked and it was dark and unsafe to ride in the heavy rain so I pulled off the highway and checked in to the first hotel I saw. The room was clean and lovely. They have a nice pool area which I did not use of course as it was outdoors! Best part of the experience was Sullivan! He allowed me to keep my motorcycle parked under the check in cover, and although the hotel has no laundry facilities, he took my soaking wet clothes and put them in their industrial dryer! Sullivan was super nice and friendly on a pretty awful night and I very much appreciated him and the hotel being where I needed it to be! read more

Such a relief to find this place. I had to bug-out of a local "Bates Motel" as it was a real fleabag place (see adjacent review of Days Inn by Wyndham Birmingham, AL), and I was feeling like being taken care of and this Sleep Inn was a great place to land. Frankly I was surprised. I booked on merits of Yelp/Hotels.com reviews. This place is clean, truly fresh, with courteous staff and a good breakfast. One of the days I was here there was a football team eating breakfast (classic!!) and the staff kept ahead of these ravenous 20-something's and kept the bacon and omelets coming. The rooms are well appointed and designed and (yes!!!) there are ample outlets near the bed, something us work travelers really appreciate. Finally, I even went to the outdoor pool! This is something I don't always do. Pools are often over chlorinated and skeevy. This one was warm and clean and well serviced- such a needed bit of relaxation while performing on the road. Very convenient off the interstate and close to several restaurants and attractions including the amphitheater which is across the street and maybe about a quarter of a mile walk. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the prices were reasonable and the breakfast was yummy. They had more than your average hotel selection of food to choose from. I was very disappointed with our stay on Dec 17, 2021. After reading the great reviews about staff I booked through the reward program with choicehotels. The male desk clerk NEVER spoke but 4 words to me, NEVER acknowledged me as a reward member !! When I asked a question about breakfast (advertised as FULL breakfast, which it wasn't!!! A packaged muffin, bananna, yoguart, BULK cereal just didn't qualify to me. Other hotels are honest with grab and go breakfast. When I did ask about breakfast told: READ the sign....which ONLY gave hours. I requested manager contact, never got that. In the morning at check out was NOT askedf how the stay was, but I did get a Thank You for returning key card to desk. Safe to say I will NOT stay here again and would not recommend to friends. Terrible service. Stayed June 8th, 2021. Arrived 8:35pm. Room smelled of cologne. Wife woke up at 11pm, could not breathe. Went outside 1am to get some fresh air. Tried to get back in, locked out, front desk person asleep. Luckily side door was left open. Went to front desk person , she was asleep. Too tired to help us find another room. Said smell was deodorant. Gave me a fan. Tried opening window and using fan, no use. Complained to new front desk person and she could have cared less. My husband and I just came back from a lovely weekend with an overnight stay in this hotel. The hotel is conveniently situated near major highways but is very quiet. The building is well appointed and maintained, with lovely decorative touches in the lobby and each floor. Our room (rear side of the hotel, 3rd fl.) was great - nice smelling (not strong, just delicate), clean, spacious, with comfortable beds with cozy, comfortable bedding, excellent overhead lights above each bed, plenty of lights in the room overall and plenty of outlets (electrical and USB). Good wi-fi connection. Nice bathroom with a spacious shower cabin. The windows can be opened to let fresh air in. The best breakfast selection we've seen in a great while - hot foods (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy), boiled eggs, pancakes, waffles, cereal, yogurt, cream cheese, coffee, teas, juices. The staff is very professional, polite, and accommodating. We would especially like to thank Ashley for her assistance in booking the hotel and Sullivan (who was at the front desk when we arrived) for finding us exactly the room we wanted, already perfectly cleaned, even though the rooms were still being cleaned after a large group's departure. The outdoor swimming pool is seasonal (April-September), with plenty of chairs and tables to relax or sunbathe. read more

Clean room, small yet efficient bathroom with shower stall only, very economical comparatively and kept us close to I-65. We had two full beds which did not make for a comfortable sleep. My husband went and slept in the car due to this. Continental breakfast was good. Workers were very friendly. Queen beds would have improved our night greatly. So that said I recommend but if you or your husband have wide shoulders you may want to get queens if available. They were not available if they had when we were there. read more

My father and I went the one night while I was in Birmingham, because my wife was in icu at UAB Hospital. Nonetheless, I stayed in one in Nashville, TN. So, i thought that this would be great also. It was okay. The bathroom was a little ackward. The slide in door was very difficult to open. Beds were decent. I did enjoy the continental breakfast. The room is comfortable and clean and the front desk guy was very nice last night when I checked in, but this is a very noisy hotel. I was woken at 7 AM by people shouting down the hallway. Apparently, a transformer blew nearby, so the power is out. I know this because guests have been yelling down the hall to one another for a while, and there is some beeping thing that has been going on for over an hour, plus the a/c is off and it's really humid. Additionally, the people in the room above me have dropped heavy things at least twice and I have literally jumped out of bed thinking the ceiling was coming down. When I went out to my car last night to get something, there were people sitting by the front door smoking and I had to go through their cloud to get back inside. My room is on the first floor, so perhaps I am hearing people in the breakfast area, but there is a lot of noise of people and things being moved and dropped. I was hoping to get a little sleep this morning, but I don't think that is going to happen. Although the bed is comfortable and clean, there is no hope of getting any actual rest, so I wasted the money on the hotel room, since I can't get any actual sleep because of the noise, and I can't get any work done because there is no Internet for me to access on my laptop. I won't stay here again. **edit: When I went to check out the manager was very apologetic and said they'd give me 1,000 points on my choice membership. read more

Everything in the reviews by others is correct EXCEPT there is NO fitness center at the hotel. The hotel website is absolutely FALSE. Very annoying because there were other nice hotels on the same street at the same price point that had fitness centers at the hotel such as Hampton, Weston, Four Seasons, Marriott, Fairfield, Comfort Suites and Hilton. In fact, this Sleep Inn "sells a pass for the local Golds Gym" which only had abbreviated hours. In fact, when you add in the cost of a 2 day pass, the total cost was more than the Hilton and Weston! Again, NO mention of added cost of fitness center and the fact that not theirs and not on premise. That "annoyance" cost them a letter to the Sleep In Board of Directors and my black list of this hotel on 6 social media sites. It has been said that "the pen is mightier than the sword", and I say, "social media is mightier than the pen!" I don't like misleading and false advertising. There is no excuse for that from ANY business! Very annoyed. Also, had to get key re-keyed just like ALL reviews said at 10 pm. Now for the good: clean room, nice and new decor in room, quiet and comfortable room; very good hot and full breakfast buffet. Hotel is appealing. Parking is excellent, well lighted and safe. Location is great--south of Rush Hour Traffic but only 7 minutes to Galleria and shopping. Friendly and competent staff. Outside and well maintained pool. Attractive and upscale inside and outside. The falsely advertised fitness center is needless and a shameful smudge against an over all very good experience! Five stars went to 3 stars for their false advertisement and unadvertised up-charge for a daily workout.
