I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience involving Sleep Number, particularly regarding misleading information and inconsistencies surrounding costs and services--issues I regret to say occurred on more than one occasion. When I visited the store in Deer Park, Illinois, I inquired about what would happen to my existing 13-year-old Sleep Number bed, which no longer holds its firmness. I asked, point-blank, whether it would be removed at no charge. I was given a clear and affirmative response--yet I ended up paying $80. related to its removal. I went on to explain to both the salesperson & the store manager, my reservations about investing in another Sleep Number product. I mentioned that my second bed in Florida repeatedly requires resetting, and although I was told this was likely due to an outdated Wi-Fi signal (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz), I was reassured that newer software updates had resolved such issues. During the sales process, I was shown a warranty card and told I could purchase an additional three-year warranty for $350 at any time before delivery. I decided to take some time to consider it, given the gravity of the purchase. Later, I was shocked to find out the price was actually $399--yet another discrepancy that I find completely unacceptable. Sadly, I didn't read the fine print on the card they flashed, but trusted their words. To compound my frustration, I have now learned that delivery will occur later in the month leaving me no option but to sleep on a couch for the next 11 days. For a purchase of over $12,000, I expected--and frankly deserved--a far smoother, more transparent process. This experience has felt like a bait-and-switch operation, and had my husband not been battling cancer and in urgent need of a bed with elevation and climate control, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Instead, I trusted the brand and falsely assumed they would deliver with integrity and care, but that was where I made my first mistake. District manager Doug Markum refuses to contact me to discuss my concerns. Please avoid Sleep Number like your life depends on it. Deceptive company with horrible customer service and poor quality products. I lost nearly $4k to this company I genuinely advise you to avoid Sleep Number at all costs, and this location specifically. Please do your research online and please read the fine print before making any purchase. My husband and I are eating the cost of a $3,500 adjustable base because our sales person (Kathy Miller) not once verbalized that the base is nonrefundable. In fact she said the opposite to scam us of our money- "if you don't like it, it will be like you never had it". Please please please, ask all the questions you can and ask about their return policies. Do not let them deceive you like they did to us. We were able to return the mattress (which was horrible, way over priced, not at all like the display in the store, and gimmicky- believe what they say online "glorified air mattress"), however, we have to eat a $250 fee for sleep number to collect the returned mattress (again, Kathy Miller never mentioned this). Whatever you do, please don't just believe/assume that Sleep Number is a good and reputable company like we did. Do your research, ask questions, read the fine print, don't sign anything without a thorough explanation of what you are signing. To make your life a lot easier- just avoid sleep number. Lastly. We went into the store in Deer Park to look and see if we could find a bed. Our bed is an original select comfort from 2003 (I still had the receipt) and we decided we wanted to upgrade to a king size bed. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by Molly the store manager and Tony a salesman. Both had a smile and listened carefully to our needs. They looked up our name and we were still in their system 21 years later. She then took us to the first bed she wanted us to try. This bed is was comparable to the bed we owned however it had all the improvements that come with time. She found the number that was good for both of us then moved on to the next bed. This was more the top of the line with the feet that adjust as well as the head. The bed also had a foot heater, 5" pad on top and general temp control for the bed. Altho we both thought it was wonderful, we weren't interested in the foot control part or the temp control for the bed. To make this a bit shorter this was the bed we chose. Molly also suggested the mattress pads which we also got. The end result is a new bed will be delivered at the end of October. !!! read more

If I could, I would do negative stars. I purchased the top of the line bed with the Flex fit frame. A sales person named Jason Mueller said "oh just try this one. You have up to 100 days free trial and if you don't like it and can be returned, no questions asked. We guarantee the best sleep- or your money back!!" Well I was an idiot and purchased the bed and spent almost $8,000 on it. I have had it for less than a month and I HATE it! I called today to return it and was told that the $2000 adjustable base was not returnable. Less than 30 days, and they don't even want this crap back! I called the store and was told, "well you initialed it, it was on the contract." I did not read all the fine print and what I was told I was signing off one was the $0 interest for 24 months. I guess I have no one but myself to blame for believing I was told the truth. Take my advise and DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME READING EVERYTHING THEY GIVE YOU. I have never dealt with a company that was this low in the pond! Less than 30 days, and I am stuck. Don't be as dumb as I was. NOT WORTH THE MONEY..... BTW... I just got a response to my review with Sleep Number taking no responsibility for what happened! I don't know why this store got such bad reviews. My husband and I had the pleasure to meet Jason. He is knowledgeable about the bed and has our best interests at heart. He was patient and walked us through the different technology about each bed. We spent over an hour in the store and ended up purchasing one that fits our needs. My five your old daughter was in the hospital so my wife stayed with her every night. It wasn't until the day before Thanksgiving and the day before they came home from the Hospital that we found out that the pump on our sleep number was broken and my wife side of the bed was deflated. I called customer support and they lady who answered was very rude and I didn't get anything accomplished. I called Deer Park Mall and spoke to a very helpful lady named Roseanne. Roseanne told me she would call me right back. Within 5 minutes she called me back promptly and told me she located an old pump for us to use until we are able to get a new one in. It's people like Roseanne that every company needs. I didn't have to sleep on the couch. :) read more

I have no complaints about the store or the service I received when I purchased my King Twin Mattress Sleep Number. We spent almost $8,000 for the bed since it had all the bells and whistles that would make for a great night's sleep. We were especially interested in the foot warmer element part of the bed we purchased since my husband felt this would be helpful to him due to his medical condition. I didn't use this element on my side of the bed and my husband used his on occasion. A little over a year after we purchased this bed my husband's foot warmer did not work. When he tried the warmer on my side of the bed it didn't work. When we called Sleep Number customer service we were told this part was no longer under warranty and we would need to pay for the replacement/repair. We decided not to get the repair since we didn't feel confident the technology would last any longer. We were very disappointed since we paid a lot of money for the bed and we thought this would have been part of the 15 year limited warranty, however it was not. Otherwise, the bed is very comfortable and we have had many good nights of sleep. My husband is back to using a heating pad for his cold feet. We feel that Sleep Number was probably aware of the issues with this technology since they only warranted this for one year. I just wish I would have used the foot warmer on my side of the bed a lot sooner since it didn't work when we did try to use it. I should mention this was the second Sleep Number purchase I made and I have previously recommended to others who also made purchases. Because of this issue - it will be my last. read more

I purchased my P5 mattress in 2014 already the cover & topper foam rip all over from top to bottom, they customer service by phone is long an pretty much the worst the send the wrong parts incomplete order to repair the mattress, the fist appointment I had the technician did not showed nor called to let me know he was not going to arrived.Making me loss time from work. I paid close to $4,000.00dls for such cheap made air mattress. I would highly recommend to anyone not to purchase the sleep number. Also it has not help at all for my back Pain, is worst and I sleep less than my old 10 years old regular mattress. The pro raither limited warranty is bad. Does not cover much on the sleep number products. Tech support at home, charge $200.00 plus parts. Just not worth buying a sleep number read more

Not happy having spent $4,000 on a bed which a) was delivered well into the evening hours [delivery window was 3-7p and the men showed at 8p] b) does not provide the comfort the salesperson alleged it would. The delivery people said they had 8 deliveries that day. I am not certain they were left enough time. Certainly sleep number is not a brand new company, and have been doing deliveries for some time. I had scheduled this weekday delivery because I would have had to wait until the end of December (a month after purchase) to have it delivered on a weekend. If sleep number doesnt have the resources to deliver promptly on a sale or if they are overwhelmed they should scale back. I spoke over the phone with a customer service person who really did not have an excuse for the store manager returning my call (I called and left a message). I told the salesperson at the time of purchase that an issue that I had with our old bed was that it held body heat. I was advised the particular bed that I was purchasing alleviated that to a degree. That has not been my experience to date. We removed the mattress pad as suggested by the on phone person and as yet we have not noticed a degree of difference from our old bed. The bed that I got had a base where the mattress sits 16" off the ground. I was told by customer service that that is the standard height. However in the store my feet hit the ground when I sat on the bed. At home I cannot touch the floor. I was told that the store should have told me this and that if I wanted to change the legs it would be $40. They did not advise that if you have a hardwood floor that the bed will move around on the floor very easily, and creak and moan. They do not do time windows for service. They give you a day and you have to be available. I cancelled the service on the bed and if I decide to take them up on their 100 night guarantee and return the mattress I will give them a window to pick it up or tell them it will be in the yard. BUT Buyer beware!!!! The 100 night guarantee does not apply to the bedframe. The adjustable frame is NOT RETURNABLE. So youre stuck. If you think you can opt out of this purchase you can, to a degree. But you cannot return the adjustable base. To sum up, if I bought a used car from a used car dealer I would expect used car experience, service and product quality. However, buying a high end item from what I thought was a high end company I expected high end service, not a late delivery in a dirty hertz rental truck and to not have been delivered on what I was told by the salesperson. I would expect prompt call back from a local manager addressing my concerns. For all my grief I was given a set of sheets free and the reviews on their own site say that the sheets are crappy. I would not recommend this place. Dont get caught up in the flashy commercials, dont get lured into their "this is the best sleep ever" BS, its not. Its a mildly comfortable bed that you can make hard or soft. Even that isnt that great. And you will be disappointed by the service. This is a high end, high ticket scam. And nobody cares. read more

The parts that were being delivered were destroyed in transit. After talking to customer service, they told me that they were to reorder the parts and the next service call was to be next Wednesday. That would be a total of 16 days without a place to sleep. Their financial reparation was around $230 for my inconvenience. This is a complete fiasco. read more

They are all about the sale and will tell you anything. Gave them our bed measurements said the bed would fit. Well it didn't. Such a hassle to get in returned. 21 days to get our refund. I washed the bed pad and sheets up that we're made special for or split bed and now I have no bed to use them on and they won't return them. Horrible horrible horrible phone customer service. Not once did anyone on the phone apologize. Delivery guys apologized for them being so rude. read more
