Apparently not working with insurance reimbursements at this time however, but appeared to be stocked with lots of patient/home care needs to purchase. The Deets: Out for a weekend lunch, we were discussing how it would be good for us to start investigating getting a cane to assist my father's mobility. By chance at the restaurant, there was someone with a cane there that actually informed us that they got the cane next door to the restaurant we were at...what are the chances? So we went next door after our meal and discovered Dove Medical Supply, a retail health/medical needs store. They were a good sized store with lots of things for patient/home care assistance with hospital beds, trach supplies, urology supplies, ostomy supplies, seat and patient lift, orthopedic needs, patient care needs and other things including patient mobility supply such as medical scooters, walkers, and canes. They had a great number of different cane styles along the wall and an associate came over to help answer questions and guide us to our cane of choice. The associate was very positive, upbeat, and helpful. But she had her hands full multiple customers coming in at once. This timing lead to a good line at checkout and again this solo associate rang up each one. I'd say she needs some help there, at least one person handling the floor while another at the checkout would greatly help. Again though, this lone associate was extremely nice through every transaction. I will note that they do not work with insurance currently so there is no insurance reimbursement available at this time, a bit disappointing. My father really likes his cane and thinks the choice was the best one for him. Dove Medical Supply appeared just when needed and helped us out!

One of the biggest reasons this is a five star pharmacy/supplies company is because they directly bill insurance. I found no other place in Charlotte that did this. They all wanted me to pay for the equipment myself and then get a reimbursement from insurance. Talk about a hassle and risky proposition if the insurance decided not to cover it. Another thing they did is pre-order the walker even before they received the prescription from my doctor so that it would be ready as soon as possible. They took the time and effort to assemble the walker and adjust it to my height. They also delivered it to my front door, something that was imperative for me since I couldn't walk anywhere and couldn't get to their store. Not every place I called would deliver like this. The pharmacists who answered the phone were very prompt and courteous and Samantha, the durable medical equipment coordinator, was an incredibly helpful and conscientious person. She even called my doctor directly to persuade him to speed up the prescription process because I had been waiting for over a week. If anyone ever needs durable medical equipment your first call should be Avant Pharmacy.

This store has a good variety of durable medical supplies, orthopedic and diabetic shoes, braces, walkers, wheelchairs, scooters and more! The owner was on site when we went in to check things out and we loved how attentive and genuine he was in helping us learn about the store and their services. Parking is available in the front lot, or around back of the store. There are two wheelchair accessible spots out front. The store is open, bright and very clean, with room to easily maneuver a wheelchair. Items are clearly marked and the staff are kind, patient and willing to assist. They make the process of selecting diabetic shoes so much easier because they take care of all the paperwork with your doctor and your insurance company, and they are the only store of its kind who travel to clients anywhere in South Carolina! You also have the option to go in and buy items out of pocket if you choose, at reasonable rates. This location is conveniently situated accross from the hospital and next to a medical clinic.

He quoted us 4-5 weeks before they would be in. A week later, he called me and said they were there! He also made the trip to our home to bring them to us!
