I'm a regular at both locations and absolutely love their coffee. My go to is a coconut latte, and their seasonal flavors have never disappointed as well. My favorite coffee spot in Chattanooga hands down. Their drinks are always just a touch of flavor/sweetness while maintaining the integrity of the coffee. Most flavored coffee drinks are usually dominated by whatever flavor is in them. All of the baristas are so great also. Christian and Ariana gave me tips on making espresso at home and Mazzie shared with me that I could order a coconut latte year round. The atmosphere is beautiful, all the plants and the pink is reminiscent of coffee shops in LA. Definitely give this spot a try, you will not be disappointed! read more

This coffee shop is decorated beautifully. The setup was a bit odd as the bar was across the hall from the seating area. This didn't deter me from trying it out. They have CBD infused options and the taste of the coffee was good. However, the baristas were really off-putting and standoffish. They were not at all friendly, which is fine, but they also made some snide comments when we asked about the menu options. It was honestly such an uncomfortable atmosphere that we cut our visit short. My friend said the owners themselves are nice, so it might be better to visit on a weekday when they are working. read more

The pumpkin spice purée was homemade and one of the best I ever tasted and the fact they offered soy milk brought a smile to my face. A friend asked if I had visited Sleepyhead Coffee a few weeks ago, and I had never heard of it! I decided to track them down, because I am a fanatic of all things caffeine. :) The shop is located in the south lobby of a downtown building, which makes it a tad tricky to find but also makes it feel like you have your own little glorious coffee and baked goods hideout! The environment is small, decorated tastefully, and you always see a smiling face behind the bar. They take care of their space, and it shows. While the shop is small, it is warm, welcoming, and offers a handful of seats to hang out and enjoy your drink and pastry. They offer a variety of brew methods, and every coffee I've had from there is well-crafted. These folks care about your coffee preparation. They also provide a couple of vegetable-based milk alternatives. The shop carries a variety of in-house baked goods, which all look really delicious. I'm actually pretty surprised at all the good reviews. I love trying local coffee shops and always make a point to do so when traveling. This one comes complete with the usual standoffish baristas, which is fine if the coffee is good. However, the oat milk for my cap was prepared with as much care as one might use in taking out the trash. It was way over-steamed. I actually threw about 2/3 of it away. I acknowledge it was the end of their day, but I was still expected to pay $4.50 for it. The drink did not get cheaper as the baristas care lessened. My partner's cold brew was resoundingly average. 3 stars for the AMAZING decor and esthetic of the shop. Genuinely one of the cutest shops I have been to in a while. I had to unfortunately knock off two stars because the customer service really wasn't that good and the coffee was undrinkable. To be quite honest my husband and I felt pretty uncomfortable even ordering our drinks. Our lates were way to sweet and the drip was too watered down. I am thinking maybe the grind to water ratio was off because it really just tasted like hot water with a hint of coffee. We pretty much threw them away after leaving which was a bummer cause we spent 10+ dollars. I hope to get back up to Chatt to try it again and maybe change this review. Basically you are paying for the atmosphere of this shop, because the coffee is not worth the $. read more

First time in Sleepyhead! The pastries were yummy and the environment was unique and comfy! All the plants were fantastic! The negative part of my visit was my cappuccino... the espresso was yummy but the foam was very weak, it fell almost immediately into the liquid. While this location has great coffee, I no longer feel safe going there. They are extremely irresponsible with their customers' safety. I have been a few times over the past couple of weeks. I've observed the workers and owners removing their masks behind the counter while talking to friends-- this includes while making drinks. A barista handed me my drink by securing the lid and placing their bare hands over where the drinking hole is. There are no clear distancing markers on where to stand and they allow as many customers in their small cafe as will fit. The side room is wonderful until you realize that there are no safety precautions whatsoever. They have not removed any chairs or distanced anything. They do not clean the tables after people leave (this happened multiple times in the few times I sat in the side room). It is EXTREMELY unsafe and frankly ridiculous. I frequent coffee shops around town and they by far have failed their customers the most. I will not be going back and encourage others to consider if a cup of coffee is worth their safety. read more
