I loved this stop! In a beautiful part of town overlooking the Tennessee River known as Bluff's View and this particular shop is in a cluster of very old and very charming buildings. They have a nice covered patio and plenty of seats there as well as some inside in a small dining room off to the left. I was starving as I had skipped lunch and ordered the Chicken Salad on croissant with a pickle and side of chips. It was served with tomato and lettuce and was sooo good. It tasted like it had a bit of curry or something to add some jazz and it was refreshing and delicious. The pickle was also noteworthy. I purchased a toffee snack and biscotti for later and both were also good. Service at the register was super friendly and I enjoyed my quick lunch here people-watching. It's a popular spot. The three workers should have worn nametags of Disinterested, Stressed Out, and Angry. The coffee, both drip and iced, was bad and the pastries were stale. Cute coffee shop that's in the bluff art district of Chattanooga. Walked up the very big hill from our hotel to get here. The building the shop was in was rustic and elegant. Loved the vibe along with the nice outdoor seating. Didn't try any of the pastries but they all looked delicious. As for the coffee, it wasn't the best. For an iced latte, they only offer one size which I'm pretty sure was a 16oz and for me it was too milky and not much coffee flavor. The person taking orders wasn't not nice but also she wasn't the nicest. Probably won't be back to this shop/go out of my way but good enough to try out on your own if you need a coffee shop to visit. read more

We got there mid-morning on a Monday and lucked out with street parking right in front. It was also pretty quiet inside. I got a biscuit, egg, and cheese sandwich which was delicious! The biscuit was very good and there was a big piece of egg and lots of cheese. I'll admit I burnt my mouth eating it too fast. I thought the price was high but comparable to costs these days and yummy enough to be worth it. It also took quite awhile to be made. I got the Self Portrait, which was delicious and worth the visit by itself. Just the right amount of sweetness. My gf got the St. Tropez pastry, which she didn't love. She said the cream inside was cold and disappointing. I ended up stopping back in after going to the art museum because I really wanted to try a croissant (I meant to order it for my breakfast sandwich, but apparently my brain was on biscuit). It was VERY crowded and the line moved slowly. They were telling people ahead of me that it would be 30+ minutes for anything from the kitchen. Update to my review from last year: It had been a while since I last visited, but I recently came back to Chattanooga to see family and made a point to stop at Rembrandt's again. Happy to say it's still just as good. My favorite coffee éclair was exactly how I remembered it, and the rest of the bakery items were excellent as well. I also had a club sandwich, soup, and coffee, which were really good. Consistent quality like this is why Rembrandt's remains my favorite spot. Always worth the stop! Service was great. Amazing bakery, coffee house, and cafe! We had a wonderful lunch out on their patio and it was lovely. I plan to come back in the spring when the weather is even prettier. Orders are placed at the counter and then your food is brought to your table. Service is prompt and friendly. Rembrandt's is located in the heart of the arts district and you can browse museums and galleries after lunch. We both had the tomato artichoke soup and it was the best tomato soup I've ever had. The soup had plenty of basil and the artichokes added a nice twist. The bowls are huge and the portion is large, plenty enough for lunch. It's served with a soft roll and all their bread is baked in-house. The pastries are incredibly delicious as well! read more

Went to Chattanooga for a quick getaway. I grew up in North Ga, so Chatt was just 20 minutes away and we spent a lot of time there as teens. Rembrandt's was a place we would come to that made us feel so adult and cool, so this visit was very nostalgic for me. It all felt the same. We ordered a mocha latte and a matcha to drink and a Reuben and Harvest Salad with chicken to eat. The Reuben was fantastic, but the chicken on the salad was extremely dry. The drinks were made well though. This was more about nostalgia than the eats for me anyway, so it was fine. I will always come back as long as they're in business. read more

This is hands down my favorite coffee shop and patisserie. I always overload on the pastries since I don't get it often. The service is great, but it will take you a minute to get your food or drinks because it is a very small shop. But be patient it's worth it. I had not been to family favorite Rembrandt's since they remodeled and changed the menu a bit so Mom wanted to treat me to breakfast here this morning. The place is still so lovely! We walked throigh the courtyard side entrance into a room full of delectable looking pastries and chocolates A few new breakfast and lunch items had also been added to the now digital menu on the wall. The cashiers were very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Mom got the challah French Toast and I decided to get my 'ol fav the breakfast sandwich. Mom's order was huge and looked delicious. She definitely ate every bite with a smile. My breakfast sandwich was just as large and delicious as I remembered, the perfect combo of egg, cheese, and homemade biscuit. The chai tea latte I ordered complimented it well too. We enjoyed dining on the front side of the cafe and visiting with people walking by and their dogs. Since I was in the area with some friends, I wanted to get something small and sweet. But while I was waiting in line, I realized that I was much more hungrier than I thought lol. Rembrandt's has more than just coffee and pastries, but actual food as well! In the past I've always gotten their coffee and it was good, but this recent experience was amazing. I got their Caesar Wrap and their Blackberry Sage Shandy. The wrap was delicious. The romaine inside was fresh and crunchy, chicken was good, and the caesar dressing was tasty. It was the perfect amount of sauce that layered the wrap contents inside yet still wasn't too saucy. My friends got the Firebird and Bluff View Burrito. After trying my friend's Firebird sandwich (which I was also wanting to get as well), I'd definitely come back and order that next. My drink was great as well. It was fruity, refreshing, sweet but not too sweet, and exactly what I wanted for my sweets craving. The iced tea was enjoyable. Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. I've been counting down the days until their reopening to have the chance to finally visit this place! We arrived for lunch on a Tuesday to find the lovely and dog friendly patio packed. Thankfully, inside, there was not a long line, and our ordering was quick. Compared to photos of menu items before, the menu offerings have been reduced since reopening. I was glad to see the chicken salad crossaint sandwich ($10) remained, though. We ordered one along with a club sandwich ($13), the Amsterdam Fog drink and cookie combo ($7), and a Tennessee honeysuckle tea ($4). Went out to find a table that had become available on the patio, and our drinks and food were all out to us less than 10 minutes later. This was one of the best Amsterdam (London) fogs I've had. They do tea very well. The sandwiches were good also, and I'm so happy they have light lunch options, but I'd perhaps only come again for cafe drinks and their in-house made sweet treats (which they have plenty of). As many have already commented, it is unfortunate that much of the original interior character was stripped, and what remains looks like a remodel straight from HGTV. In trying to be understanding, though, as time wears on, it's inevitable that buildings will be in need of some kind of update to function efficiently. I'll add my name to the list of people who plead to Rembrandt's that whatever you do, please do not touch the patio and all its cozy charm. read more

Things you should know: I. PARKING Limited free street parking. II. SERVICE They offer fresh pastries, chocolates, and locally roasted coffee. There's a self-serve water station. One thing I did find disappointing was the presentation of the coffee. Since Rembrandt's seems to go all-out in esthetics, I was disappointed to have my drink served in a plastic to-go cup and not classy dishware. It just doesn't make sense with the effort placed behind the cafe.. III. QUALITY All locally made ~ couldn't be any better. IV. CAPACITY Fairly busy on a weekday, late-morning. One of my favorite places to grab a coffee or latte, get a sweet treat, or a small meal snack. The lemon tarts are my favorite and are to die for! The crust is tender and the filling has just the right ratio of tart to sweet. They're small, about 4 bites to nibble on along with your coffee or tea if you prefer. I also love the sugar cookies with icing, palmier cookies, and the chocolate truffles, just to name a few. The restaurant sells other items as well. Breads of all kinds come from Bluff View Bakery. The two are actually connected businesses here in the Art District. I love to buy a loaf of the challah bread to take home and make bread pudding with. It's the best bread for bread pudding because it is dense and soaks up the egg very well. If you're looking for chocolates, they sell them here. The chocolates are made on the premises in a different part of the building. There is even a little window to watch them being made. It's very cute for both the little ones and older adults :) Prices are average for the Bluff View Art District area. There is lot parking in front and in the back. So we had just left Tony's in rembrance is in the same area. You can walk right across the parking lot to get to it. Rembrance is kind of an Italian pastry and coffee shop. They have a lot of things in glass cases, and it looks good, really good. I'm not a sweets fan but I did try to New York cheesecake and it was solid! Everything is reasonable and pretty affordable so you can actually get a few things for not that much money so that's good. Have to wait a little while for the cake to come, which I really wasn't sure why I have to wait for a slice of cake, but that was weird. It wasn't like it was full, when we got there they're only two other people there in line. But, waited about 10 minutes and we were good to go. I will go back to try a different variety of the cheesecake count because they had a couple of them there. They have indoor and outdoor seating so it will be a good place to go ahead and try to order a few things and sit outside. It's a lot of space out there so if it's a good day this is a good move. Also, if you really want to go ahead and plug up your laptop, a lot of people were doing out there as well so it's a really quiet and chill place to relax. read more

Located in the Arts District Downtown this is such a great find. Visiting the area my sister in law recommended this coffee shop. I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing cakes and goods. He gets annoyed at the little birds, but he appreciates a water bowl while we enjoy the shade and ambiance. The bakery items are THE BEST!! My favorite is The Nun. We ate on the outside patio under the canopy of trees! What an amazing time well spent after traipsing around Coolidge Park and crossing the Walnut Pedestrian Bridge! It was such a wonderful way to cap off our day of adventure that started with a phenomenal hike with Ryan and Hope from Experience Chattanooga to wandering around the Arts District and Coolidge Park!!
